Amazon France Releases More Official Images of 2017 LEGO Nexo Knights Summer Sets.

This piece of news has been floating around for quite some time, but seems to have fallen off the radar. LEGO is definitely preparing the way for its next batch of offerings, as its servers have been gradually uploading official images of its summer sets slated to be released in June. We already saw the additional images of this year’s MCU-themed sets, which includes those from LEGO Marvel Superheroes’ Spiderman Homecoming and Thor: Ragnarok.  This time, Amazon France released additional images of the LEGO Nexo Knights summer sets, with a scheduled release date of June 1. These sets include the vehicles and stone army monsters as seen in Season 4 of the series. LEGO servers don’t include them yet in their database, but since Amazon France has taken the initiative of listing them for pre-order, it will not be long until we see them posted at shop.LEGO.com as well.

I understand that not everyone is that optimistic nor excited about the Nexo Knights theme, with some pointing out to its relatively unattractive, seemingly hodgepodge design only to be worsened by its unappealling, translucent blue and orange color scheme. There are even rumors floating around that LEGO might be pulling the plug on the Nexo Knights theme, even to the extent of not releasing this year’s summer sets. However, as we can see from Amazon’s French website, there is still life on this underrated theme. I guess we just have to wait and see for what the future holds for our heroes of Knighton. For the mean time, let’s take a look at these images.

SWCO 2017 Sums Up Everything We Need To Know About Season 2 of LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures.

The Freemakers are off for another season in LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, and thanks to the reveals shared by execs Bill Motz and Bob Roth during the Freemaker Adventures Panel at Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, we now have more information on what lies ahead for our space scavengers turned rebels. Season 2 of the Freemakers will debut on May 4 and these are the things that we can expect from the highly rated show.

1. The Freemakers will go full swing in their fight against the Empire, and will decisively be a part of the Rebellion.

FM 08

During the 1st season of the Freemaker Adventures, the family itself was practically shy in getting involved in the affairs of the rebellion. Additionally, the original Star Wars trilogy didn’t really focus nor hinted on the idea of children or tweens getting involved in the fight against the oppresive Imperial forces. However, as their story progresses, it seems that joining the fight against the evil rule of the Empire is inevitable for Rowan and the rest of his kin.

2. There will be lots of costume changes.

FM 00

I guess it is only customary for our characters to have redesigned costumes as well. During the panel, Motz and Roth revealed several concept arts for the Freemakers’ new costumes and how they were conceptualized. According to them, the costumes are a nod to more familiar designs, alluding to Luke Skywalker’s getup from Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back. They opted for such designs to give the audience a sense of transition for the events in the second season since all of these happen during that timeline between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

3. We’ll be seeing more of Hera.

FM 01

During the panel, the duo also shared some still images that hints on the appearance of one the seasoned characters from Star Wars Rebels. The Ghost crew captain and fearless leader, Hera Syndulla, will be part of Season 2’s storyline, though it is not clear yet to what extent. But what is exciting is the thought that Hera seems to have survived all the events that preceded the timeline of the Freemaker Adventures, and those between Episodes V and VI. It offers a wealth of backstory material on what could have possibly happened to the Ghost crew and hopefully, fans can have a glimpse of some of these events as well.

4. Enter M-OC – the freakish droid that you don’t want to mess around with.

FM 04

Needless to say, droids have been a staple of Star Wars lore, but this new Imperial droid is not your usual, garden variety type. In LEGO’s usual brand of humor, the Emperor came up with his own creation which he aptly calls M-OC: a creepy, killer droid born straight from your brick-built nightmares. If that is not enough to make your heart skip a beat, then the idea that he comes with his very own equally intimidating ship will make any Padawan melt in fear. In fact, Motz was even hesitant in coming up with the idea of creating M-OC in the first place. “Incredibly creepy and scary,” Motz said. “Sometimes we wonder, ‘Have we gone too far? Are kids gonna have bad dreams?’” Well, only time can tell.

5. The unholy alliance of the iconic Bounty Hunters.

FM 06

It seems that the highly anticipated LEGO Star Wars Bounty Hunter Speeder Bike Battle Pack (75167) was not just randomly thrown into the mix as part of this year’s Star Wars sets. True enough, the inclusion of these iconic thugs in one LEGO set is like a dream come true for most LEGO and Star Wars fans, but having it as a sort of an Easter egg for the Freemaker Adventures, well, I have to admit is a pretty clever move by Disney and Lucasfilm. They were only given a fraction of a second in Season 2’s trailer, but if you hit the pause button at the 45th-second mark, then you can catch a glimpse of IG-88, Dengar, Bossk, and 4-LOM on a chase aboard their speeder bikes. If M-OC is not enough to finish the job, then perhaps the Bounty Hunters can pull it off. We shall see.

6. The Kyber-Powered Arrowhead.

FM 03

Similar to the first season’s LEGO Star Wars sets such as the StarScavenger (75147) and Eclipse Fighter (75145), Season 2 of the Freemaker Adventures offers two new vehicles that will play key roles in the events of the series. According to Roth, “Rowan’s purpose becomes the Arrowhead. It’s the big thing for the season.” The Arrowhead is unique on its own. Perhaps next to the Death Star as being the only weapon or transport in the Star Wars galaxy powered by the mysterious Kyber crystals, the Arrowhead seems to show a yet-to-be-revealed potential. If the Arrowhead, as Roth implies, symbolizes Rowan’s purpose as it is powered by a huge Kyber crystal, then it is kind of difficult to think that it only exists as a weapon or tool of mass destruction. Clearly, it points to somewhere else rather than blowing things up. This might as well be the only Kyber-powered ship that the Rebel forces may have on their side. As described in the official Season 2 trailer, “Rowan’s powers grow and strengthen until he has a vision of a sleek, invulnerable ship that can save the Rebellion and stop the Empire in its tracks – the Arrowhead. The catch is, the Arrowhead is a ship only Rowan can build”. It’s pretty exciting to see how the Arrowhead can become a significant threat to the Empire, and what it can do once it’s blue aura activates.

The LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures’ new season will premiere this summer on Disney XD. Prior to this, five new shorts will debut before May 4 that will help bridge the gap between seasons 1 and 2.

So what do you think? Excited about the latest adventures of the Freemakers? What are you most excited about?

The Freemaker Family Prepares For Another Season in LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures.

It doesn’t come as a surprise that the galaxy’s freewheeling, Freemaker family is back for another round of intergalactic adventures in Season 2 of LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures. Seeing two of the recent LEGO Star Wars sets dedicated to the animated series – the Arrowhead (75186) and Tracker 1 (75185) – we’re very much positive that the new series will be a sure hit, especially that they have found their way to the Rebel Alliance. We get to see the Arrowhead in action, and the Emperor’s newest minion aptly named as M-OC.

S2 Freemakers

At the end of the first season, the Freemaker family found a new home with the rebel fleet. Their new circumstances bring them face to face with brutal Imperial forces, desperate Hutts, conniving Sith Lords, and the Emperor’s latest plaything, M-OC, a terrifying hunter droid who continually modifies himself to fit any occasion. In response to these threats, Rowan’s powers grow and strengthen until he has a vision of a sleek, invulnerable ship that can save the Rebellion and stop the Empire in its tracks – the Arrowhead. The catch is, the Arrowhead is a ship only Rowan can build. Once again, it’s up to the youngest Freemaker to save the galaxy.

LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures Season 2 will launch this summer on Disney XD, just in time for the release of the LEGO Star Wars Arrowhead (75186) and Tracker 1 (75185), both of which will be available on June 1.

Unikitty Set Off To Have Her Own Cartoon Network TV Show.

This piece of news has been floating around for quite some time, and it deserves a second look. A couple of days ago, The Brothers Brick has reported that LEGO Movie’s Unikitty will be having her own TV show on Cartoon Network (CN). Warner Bros. and Cartoon Network are currently in the works in coming up with a Mixels-style series that also serves as a sort of LEGO Movie spinoff. The reveal was ‘unintentionally’ made through a trailer ad from Cartoon Network Russia. The said video was later on posted by just2good over at his YouTube channel only to be taken down later on due to a copyright claim by WB. In any case, it seems that Unikitty is off to a good start with a couple of friends from Cloud Cuckooo Land as you can see from the screen grab which we managed to obtain below.

LEGO Unikitty CN

Based on its artwork, it is clear that CN will be bringing back its Mixel-style of animation in this untitled Unikitty series. We can only speculate at this point on the possible names of the characters that Unikitty brings along with her: Unipuppy? NerdyKitty? BouncerBird (I know, it sounds horrible!)? Are we also to expect physical sets based on this series same to what they did with Mixels? Was Mixels even cancelled to give way to Unikitty, or will this Unikitty series eventually culminate to the debut of LEGO Movie 2 which is now currently in production and will be released sometime in 2019? These are questions yet to be answered until LEGO and Warner Bros release their official announcement.

The LEGO Unikitty show is expected to air on Cartoon Network Russia anytime soon. We have no word yet on when it will be aired in the US and the rest of the globe.

So what do you think brick fans? Does this Unikitty TV series comes as a surprise? We’ll certainly cover these interesting turn of events every step of the way so be sure to stay tuned here at the Brick Show.

This Transforming LEGO Brick Is More Than Meets The Eye

Japanese LEGO builder Moko shared in his blog site what seems to be a highly articulated, LEGO MOC that shows an unassuming LEGO brick transforming into a cool, ‘mecha’ or robot. The build is actually similar to the Autobot named Hot Rod as seen in the 80s animated series of Transformers. Based on a rough Google translation, the transforming LEGO brick was designed at a 1:27 scale of the typical 2×4 brick, big but comfortable enough to hold in the palm of your hand.

This particular creation is highly articulated, with plenty of joints that allow this MOC to easily transform from one mode to another.

It is highly posable as well, rendering the transforming LEGO block to do some pretty cool battle stances.

I wish I could get more info on our Japanese creator’s blog without being lost in Google’s translation. So what do you think of this particular MOC? Share your thoughts (and interpretation in case you know how to read and speak Japanese) in the comments below.

The Freemaker Adventures

StarWars.com is thrilled to announce LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, an all-new animated television series scheduled to debut this summer on Disney XD in the US. The fun-filled adventure comedy series, set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi will introduce all-new heroes and villains in exciting adventures with many familiar Star Wars characters.

Told in the whimsically charged style that audiences have come to expect from LEGO Star Wars entertainment, the series stars the Freemakers, a family of scavengers who build and sell starships from the scoured debris of space battles strewn throughout the galaxy. When their youngest discovers a natural connection with the Force through an ancient artifact — the Kyber Saber — his world is turned upside down, and he and his family are thrown into an epic struggle against the Empire to restore peace and freedom to the galaxy. Throughout their adventures, the Freemakers explore new worlds, meet new and familiar characters, and learn the true value of what it means to be a family.

The Freemaker Adventures

“We are very excited to launch for the first time a TV series with Disney XD,” said Jill Wilfert, vice president, of licensing & entertainment at the LEGO Group. “The creative team behind The Freemaker Adventures is extremely talented, and the series is a great testament to our longstanding and successful partnership with Lucasfilm and Disney. The show masterfully combines the rich heritage of storytelling, great characters, action, and adventure in a galaxy far, far away with the creativity, imagination, and humor that only LEGO Star Wars can deliver. We are sure fans young and old are going to love the show.”
