And those who are looking forward to DK’s annual LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia will also be glad to know that it will also include once more an exclusive LEGO Star Wars minifigure. For 2020, LEGO is paying homage once more to one of the most controversial and influential Sith Lord of the Star Wars saga. A never-before-seen, exclusive LEGO Star Wars Darth Maul minifigure will come as a freebie for those who will opt to purchase the said DK offering when it arrives at bookstores on April 7, 2020 as listed via Amazon. Read on for the details of this new LEGO DK book.

Discover incredible LEGO Star Wars facts, such as which minifigures are rare and which minifigures have exclusive printings, parts, and accessories. This new updated edition contains more than 200 best-loved minifigures, including Luke Skywalker, C-3PO, Chewbacca, Rey, Kylo Ren, and BB-8. LEGO Star Wars Darth Maul

From the looks of this minifig, it seems to be our first minifigure iteration of the infamous Sith as we see him in the spin-off film, Solo: A Star Wars Story. For most audiences and Star Wars fans, Darth Maul’s cliff hanger appearance at the end of the film shows how much the Dark Lord is still instrumental to the events leading to the classic Star Wars trilogy. Having this new LEGO Star Wars Darth Maul minifigure as an exclusive freebie for this book, in my opinion, is an excellent choice.

If you wish to be guaranteed a copy of this newest edition of DK’s LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia, then be sure to visit the above links and place your pre-order. Thanks to Brick Fanatics for the heads up.

Build Your Own Collection of LEGO BrickHeadz Heroes and Villains With These Books

LEGO BrickHeadz is still going strong and with the recent reveal of the LEGO BrickHeadz Star Wars Kylo Ren and Sith Trooper (75232), we can still expect that LEGO still has more plans for these brick collectibles. I guess part of the appeal with this theme is the fact that the design follows a prescribed format that allows you to recreate any of your favorite pop icons into a standard LEGO BrickHeadz. With a bit of experimenting with your own LEGO bricks, you can even come up with any BrickHeadz character that you want. This is the principle behind these collections of books written by Charles Pritchett – the unofficial guide of building your own LEGO BrickHeadz Heroes and Villains.

I first stumbled upon Charles’ works when I was casually browsing Brickset’s listing of available LEGO books. His Building LEGO BrickHeadz Heroes Volume One: The Unofficial Guide, and its counterpart that allows you to build a collection of BrickHeadz villains, immediately caught my attention. I am impressed with the excellent custom LEGO BrickHeadz sets that he was able to come up, especially when it included some of my favorite Marvel and DC characters. The best part of it is that he makes the building instructions for these MOCs available for everyone. You simply need to search through your collection of LEGO bricks to see if you have the parts needed to build your favorite heroes and villains. Since your working with a LEGO BrickHeadz, you can easily look for a substitute part if in case you don’t have the prescribed LEGO piece mentioned in assembling the build.

As of this posting, Charles offers three volumes on how to build his custom LEGO BrickHeadz Heroes and Villains all of which you can purchase via Amazon. You may click on the following links if you wish to know more about these books.

Building LEGO BrickHeadz Heroes – Volume One: The Unofficial Guide

Building LEGO BrickHeadz Villains – Volume One: The Unofficial Guide

“LEGO Harry Potter Build Your Own Adventure” Book Ready for Pre-Order on Amazon

From a certain point of view, UK publisher Dorling-Kindersley (DK) is the king of LEGO printed media and references. Recently they brought out a New Edition for their long-running “LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary.” It even got a 20th Anniversary Edition (with extra freebies) timed with the product line’s milestone.

But “Star Wars” is just one licensed franchise under LEGO’s belt. They also have Warner and J.K. Rowling’s “Wizarding World,” particularly “Harry Potter.” That’s the subject of this new “Build Your Own Adventure” book that’s been listed on Amazon. It’s also now ready for preorder.

91pAe5G1CXL

As can be expected from DK’s “Build Your Own Adventure” series, this book combines visual references to the world of “Harry Potter.” That’s doubled with nifty building instructions to recreate locales and scenes familiar to “Potter” readers from books and films, using existing LEGO pieces.

The book also comes with several goodies too. There’s a Harry Potter minifigure, a poster and several bookmarks. It also carries enough LEGO bricks with which to build an exclusive 2-in-1 set not rendered in any other LEGO HP products. The builds appear to be a Hogwarts Castle interior doorway and a possible fireplace to use the Floo Network on.

“LEGO Harry Potter Build Your Own Adventure” from Dorling-Kindersley is priced at $16.33 on Amazon. Like we said earlier, it’s up for preorder over there now, in anticipation for its official release on July 4.

“LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary – New Edition” Releases “Platinum Anniversary Version” with Extra Goodies

Earlier last May, LEGO Star Wars fans were able to acquire a big new reference book for their product line. That was when Dorling-Kindersley (DK) released the “LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary – New Edition.” This book is significantly updated with info on more recent LEGO Star Wars products, plus an exclusive minifigure on the cover.

If LEGO Star Wars fans haven’t purchased the new visual dictionary yet, then perhaps they’d like this alternative version instead. While the New Edition came out before the date, DK also has the 20th Anniversary of LEGO Star Wars in mind. That’s why they also brought out a “Platinum Edition.”

This is a version of the new “LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary” that ties into the product line’s 2-decade milestone. New LEGO-Vader dominated slipcase aside the contents are the same as the baseline “New Edition,” including the Bacta-suit Finn minifigure. But this one has extras.

56862454_324095058255128_5526817165491150714_n.jpg

You might recall the gift-with-purchase ($35 min) LEGO Star Wars art print for May the Fourth. This 20th Anniversary version has two such art prints, tucked in the slipcase with the book and minifigure. Those posters would make great additions in the walls of a LEGO Star Wars collector’s room.

So far, the special “LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary Anniversary Edition” is listed only on Shop@Home UK. The basic “New Edition” book that came out in April is still available on Amazon US and UK.

LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary New Edition 2019 Finally Released

The LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary New Edition 2019 has been finally listed over at Amazon and is now made available to the general public.

As LEGO is a constantly evolving toy line, many reference materials produced in partnership with publishing companies need updating now and then. For instance, the LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary from Dorling-Kindersley UK first arrived in 2009 and received only an expansion in 2014. That promise has finally come.

Here’s What to Expect from the LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary New Edition 2019

It’s just like companies working on products and merchandise related to a major IP to time their releases during a significant milestone. DK Publishing has just released the new and updated LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary New Edition 2019, just in time for the LEGO Star Wars 20th Anniversary. Amazon has the hardcover reference book listed, and major bookstores carrying LEGO books should already be stocking it on shelves.

We probably didn’t forget but just in case: like most other LEGO books from DK and several other partner publishers, this visual dictionary comes with a bonus exclusive minifigure. Revealed this February, we know it’s going to be Finn in his Bacta Tank suit from Episode VIII – The Last Jedi.

Custom-Build Cool Cars with New Reference Guidebook: “How to Build Dream Cars with LEGO Bricks”

Just reading through our past articles here in The Brick Show will easily tell you that LEGO, and its fandom, love cars. The brand has a dedicated car theme in Speed Champions, and many of its Technic sets are speedy vehicles. Automobile love is plain in many best-selling LEGO lines.

If however, you’re interested in making brick-built cars outside of the established LEGO products, then this upcoming book is for you. Co-written by veteran LEGO book contributors, “How to Build Dream Cars with LEGO Bricks” will help its readers do exactly as the cover says.

ISBN1684125391-1

Mattia Zamboni (“Amazing Vehicles,” “Tiny LEGO Wonders”) joins forces with designer George Panteleon to present detailed instructions on how to assemble 12 sweet high-performance cars out of LEGO. These guides include LEGO-piece list, step-by-step illustrations, and even an info sheet of the cars in question:

  1. Bugatti Atlantic Type 57SC
  2. Corvette Stingray C3
  3. Datsun 240Z
  4. Dodge Charger R/T ’70
  5. Ferrari 458 Italia
  6. Ferrari F40
  7. Ford GT
  8. Ford Mustang GT Fastback ‘67
  9. Lamborghini Countach
  10. Pagani Zonda Cinque
  11. Porsche 911 Turbo
  12. Shelby Cobra 427 S/C

The resulting car builds are smaller than LEGO Speed Champions (can’t fit minifigure drivers) but are uncannily accurate in details and contours to their inspirations. Panteleon and Zamboni achieved that effect through the seamless mixing of traditional LEGO bricks with stud-less Technic parts.

“How to Build Dream Cars with LEGO Bricks” is a paperback reference book and is now available in both US and UK editions of Amazon for $13.38 and £15.26 respectively.

Exclusive Minifigure for “LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary New Edition” Revealed: Bacta Tank Suit Finn

Print media, as we have talked about before, is one of the integral components of a “complete” LEGO experience. This is most particular when the LEGO material in question is reference books. Thanks to their publishing partnership with UK label Dorling-Kindersley (DK), there’s always been a number of “visual dictionaries” coming out every year, detailing current LEGO product lines from sets to the collectible minifigures.

Well, way back in July of the year before, LEGO and DK announced that the latter’s “LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary” was going to get a new edition. The book originally came out in 2009 and again in 2014 as the “Updated and Expanded” version.

In the same vein as so many LEGO hardbound volumes, the upcoming “LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary New Edition” will come with an exclusive character minifigure. Readers have had their time speculating who it might be all the rest of year 2018; now, Amazon has revealed who that character is.

916lDvOBTDL.jpg

The global online retail giant has added new information and images to their item listing for the new visual dictionary. For a brief period, their shot of the front cover showed the included minifigure to be First Order trooper-turned-Resistance fighter Finn, suited in the bacta tank as seen in his first appearance in “The Last Jedi,” healing from his injuries sustained during “The Force Awakens.”

Amazon must have realized that the cover photo was a spoiler, and has since replaced it with a blacked-out minifigure version. Thankfully other LEGO news sources have caught it before the change; this image down below is courtesy of Brickset.

Finn Bacta

Quite obviously, the additional content added to the “LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary New Edition” covers the new Disney-Lucasfilm media: “The Force Awakens,” “The Last Jedi,” and even “Solo.” The volume will be released this coming April, but an Amazon preorder now will shave 33% off the $14.71 price listed.
