Here’s Your Chance to Design The Next LEGO Gift With Purchase Set With the LEGO Ideas Moments in Space Contest.

Coming from its successful “Build Your Own LEGO Ideas Logo” contest, the LEGO Ideas Team is back and this time, in search of the first ever, community-inspired, LEGO exclusive Gift With Purchase (GWP) set. It seems that LEGO has finally considered the idea of a fan-designed LEGO GWP ever since the idea was discussed extensively across LEGO fan forums. The announcement has been made over at the LEGO Ideas website, and will eventually follow a classic space theme.

LEGO Ideas Moments in Space

Titled as LEGO Moments in Space, the contest is open to all LEGO fans, ages 13 and above, and will run from January 15 until February 9, 2018 at 6AM EST. Entries should be able to fit on a 16 X 16 stud LEGO baseplate, using around 300 standard LEGO pieces and elements coming from themes such as LEGO City, CMF, and Creator. As the contest title suggests, entries must capture that space exploration or adventure vibe. Entries using LEGO Digital Designer are also accepted.

Of course, what’s a LEGO contest without those sweet, sweet prizes? The Grand Prize winner will have the bragging rights to have his original creation featured as the next LEGO GWP sometime in 2019, a $250 LEGO shopping spree over at shop.LEGO.com, and a collection of past exclusive LEGO GWP sets, including:

5037118 IDEAS Moments in Space Grand Prize

Ten (10) Runner Ups will also be selected and each of them will receive a $125 worth of LEGO shopping spree also on shop.LEGO.com plus the Mini Piggy Bank (40251), Snowglobe (40223) and Christmas Build Up 2017 (40253).

5037123 IDEAS Moments in Space Runner Up

Be sure to check with the LEGO Ideas Moments in Space Contest website for the complete list of rules and guidelines to be observed. I am personally excited to see how this contest will turn out. I’m a fan of some of these smaller, vignette type sets so I am particularly curious how a Space-themed GWP set will turn out. Just be sure to submit your entries on or before the said deadline. Happy building!

Exclusive 4D Film “LEGO Ninjago: Master of the 4th Dimension” Premiering Next Week in LEGOLAND California

If The LEGO Ninjago Movie from the year before hasn’t quite sated your appetite for more adventures of Lloyd Garmadon and friends, then you might want to consider planning a trip to LEGOLAND California. If 4D films are something you dig, then they’ve got a new LEGO Ninjago one coming.

According to a press release from LEGOLAND California, they’ll soon be premiering the 4D movie LEGO Ninjago: Master of the 4th Dimension. It’ll be on Friday, January 12, during the resort’s LEGO Ninjago Days weekend extravaganza. It’s the first major movie LEGO release for 2018, exclusive only to LEGOLAND resorts.

The basic plot of the 4D film involves Master Wu instructing the LEGO Ninjago team about the “Scroll of the 4th Dimension.” A mishap during their lesson puts Lloyd, Jay, Kai, Zane, Nya and Cole on a race against time to protect the universe from being destroyed by forces beyond comprehension.

In addition to the showing of Master of the 4th Dimension, other events during LEGO Ninjago Days at LEGOLAND California include a scavenger hunt in Miniland USA, as well as a chance to play the official LEGO Ninjago Movie videogame. The 4D movie itself will show at LEGO Showplace Theater.

More Information About the Summer 2018 LEGO Technic Sets.

While some of the first wave of 2018 LEGO Technic sets is still expected to be out on January 1, it looks like we’re getting more information on what to expect from the LEGO Technic theme this Summer, 2018. Planned to be officially revealed during the New York Toy Fair in February, some preliminary images of these sets have found their way online. As always, we’re playing on the safe side by not revealing the proper images right here, but I will provide you with the set’s title and my first impression on these sets. I’m not really much of a Technic fan, but being a long standing LEGO theme for decades, I am very much impressed about its complexity and STEM-based designs.

Forklift Truck (42079) – 75.29 €

42079

This set comes in a predominantly blue and yellow color scheme and comes with a pallet and a drum-like build of hazardous materials. It also looks like an upgraded version of the LEGO Technic Forklift 8463 released in 2001.

Forest Harvester (42080) – 198.99 €

42080

The Forest Harvester comes in a noticeable lime green, white and yellow color scheme. Another noticeable feature is the large circular red saw piece which is kind of cool together with certain power functions, particularly the Pneumatic System V2.

Volvo Autonomous (42081) – 178.39 €

42081

This set looks more like a streamlined, upgraded version of the Volvo L350F Wheel Loader (42030) released in 2014. The concept behind this set is based on a drone operated loader, equipped with a robotic camera at the back.

Rough Terrain Crane (42082) – 357.79 €

42082

Set 42082 looks like a re-imagining of the Rough Terrain Crane (8270) from 2007. This newer version is noticeably larger and comes in a striking red color scheme. Similar to the Forest Harvester, the Rough Terrain Crane also comes with Power Functions which is the XL Motor system.

As a last note, since these sets are slated to be revealed at the New York Toy Fair, we might as well not expect any official images to be released until such time, so please pardon me for the blurred images.

Thanks to Hoth Bricks for the tip.

Ukraine’s LEGO Catalog Reveals LEGO Star Wars Han Solo and LEGO Marvel Superheroes Avengers: Infinity War Logos and Much More!

A particular user via the Discord forum has shared what seems to be the latest LEGO Catalogue set to be released in the Ukraine. Now just to be clear before the LEGO cops comes crashing on our doorsteps, the LEGO December Store Calendar has specifically mentioned that LEGO fans in the US will start receiving the 2018 LEGO Catalogue beginning December 26. However it should also be noted that there are countries where LEGO opt to deliver these catalogues quite earlier, and naturally, fans may choose to share them online as well. Now with that out of the way, you may download the 2018 LEGO Catalogue right here. Of course, you may want to have your Google Translate app (or any translation app of your choice) ready if you want to have an idea on what these means from Ukrainian.

With that out of the way, you may want to check out some of these pages, the most noticeable for me, are those that gives us an idea on how the logo might look like in the next series of box arts for LEGO’s upcoming Star Wars and Marvel sets. We already saw the next MCU-inspired sets with the release of the official images of the LEGO Marvel Superheroes Black Panther sets. They are now listed for pre-order over at Amazon, slated to be released on January 1. Now the good part is, just after two months, we can expect the LEGO Marvel Superheroes Avengers: Infinity War sets to be out in the market by then, as suggested by this 1-page ad.

2018 LEGO Catalogue Ukrainian 75

A quick Google Translate says that sale or availability of the LEGO Marvel Avengers: Infinity War sets will be sometime in March. That being the case, then we can roughly assume that images of these sets will eventually pop up as early as February.

Another interesting page in this 2018 LEGO Catalogue from Ukraine is the mention of the next series of LEGO Star Wars sets based on the next Star Wars Anthology. We saw what LEGO has to offer with the LEGO Star Wars Rogue One sets, and this time, just after a month before the release of the Avengers: Infinity War sets, we will have the LEGO Star Wars Solo sets slated to be released in April. Do take note that the Ukrainian words mentioned in the image below roughly translates that LEGO sets based on the subtheme will be available in April, while mentioning Solo’s theatrical release on May 25.

2018 LEGO Catalogue Ukrainian 100

I know these pages don’t say much on what kind of sets we can expect from these two highly anticipated films. As of now, we can expect at least six sets under the LEGO Marvel Superheroes Avengers: Infinity War subtheme, while we can expect at least five for the LEGO Star Wars Solo sets. But considering the timing on how LEGO intends to reveal its most exciting sets to date, then we can expect a great deal of reveals once Spring break arrives.

A Look At the 2018 LEGO Wall Calendar Vouchers.

It has been customary for LEGO to release its yearly wall calendar and most fans look forward to them not just for their aesthetic appeal as a keepsake, but also for the vouchers that go along with them. Though 2017’s LEGO Wall Calendar was released around this period of time last year as announced in the December 2016 LEGO Store Calendar, it’s quite puzzling that LEGO has not made any official announcement until now on its availability in the US. However, LEGO fans in Europe were on to an early treat when LEGO Brands Stores in the region finally released their 2018 LEGO Wall Calendar as an in-store gift with purchase, with a price point of 20 Euros.

Thanks to Promobricks who managed to get a copy of their own, we now have an idea on how next year’s LEGO Wall Calendar may look like. Now for the record, I’m not sure if this is already available in the US since I haven’t heard of any reports that this calendar has been released and distributed to fans and store visitors. Any tip from our readers will surely be appreciated. Unlike that from last year, Europe’s 2018 LEGO Wall Calendar has a more regional vibe into it, with the LEGO London Store’s very own Lester minifigure being part of the cover, featuring a creative gang of minifig artists.

LEGO Calendar 2018 vouchers 3 LEGO Calendar 2018 vouchers

Same as last year’s wall calendar, its most attractive part will be the collection of nice, little vouchers that go with them for every month of the year. Again, the vouchers and their respective redemption dates may be specific only to LEGO Brand Stores in the European region, and may all be entirely different than that in the US, so this is something that we will keep our radar on.

Super Rare 2017 LBR Manager’s Conference Exclusive Magician Minifigure Listed on eBay For $6,000!

I am not really familiar with all the conventions and conferences that LEGO organizes to bolster its managerial workforce, but this piece of news, courtesy of The Brick Fan, warrants a second look. LEGO organizes a yearly conference for its LEGO Brand Retail (LBR) Managers, with this year’s event held somewhere in Atlanta. Similar to the perks of being a LEGO Store Employee which comes with a free holiday gift, LBR Managers also seem to be entitled to a freebie in the form of a super rare LEGO collectible minifigure.

Now, if you’ve been following our blog for quite some time now, then you might be aware that we have featured several ultra rare collectible minifigs at some point here in the Brick Show, including the unbelievable price tags that go along with them. This time, another mind-blowing, crazily expensive, exclusive minifigure has popped up over at eBay with a price tag of not just one or two grand, but a whopping $6,000 USD! The LEGO Brand Retail Manager’s 2017 Conference Exclusive Magician Minifigure features a minifigure replica of the LEGO Brand Retail Manager in a magician’s getup, a top hat, regular hairpiece, and a rabbit accessory. It also comes with an instruction to assemble a 121-piece, Rabbit in a Hat build.

s l1600 1

It is simply mind-boggling how these costs and figures are determined – it’s kind of hard for me to imagine anyone paying $6,000 for a LEGO minifigure made out of ABS plastic. But I guess if you’re a LEGO minifigure purist that has the cash to burn, then paying six grand will not be an issue. If you also notice, the same eBay reseller has also listed for bidding last 2016 and 2015’s exclusive LBRM Conference commemorative minifigs featuring the 2016 Orlando Zack and 2015 Houston Zombie set – both set up for bidding at $6,000 each.

What do you think, will these ultra rare minifigures land a spot on your most wanted minifigs list? Let us know in the comments below.

Renault Sport’s 40th Anniversary Event To Feature Life-Sized LEGO Model, Workshop and Several Rare Sets.

LEGO has been partnering with real-life brands for so many decades that it has become old hat. Speaking of old hats, Renault Sport has been in the racing scene for four decades now, ever since Groupe Renault established it back in 1976 by combining their sports-car and competition departments at Gordini and Alpine.

Renault Sport has overseen their parent company’s official motor racing participation, especially in Formula One, for 40 years. In commemoration of this milestone, just one decade short of a golden anniversary, Renault has contracted the services of a LEGO Certified Professional who is a trusted partner of The LEGO Group.

The result is three sets of Renault Sport race car models made entirely of LEGO bricks. Note however that, outside of being designed by a LEGO-Certified Pro, these are not official LEGO sets with appropriate numbering. Still, they’re made out of bricks that are as LEGO as they can be.

MCU’s Avengers: Infinity War Official Trailer Has Arrived!

This day greeted me with a much welcomed surprise with the arrival of the first official trailer of MCU’s Avengers: Infinity War. I am literally speechless as I replayed the clip several times to see all the hidden details that I might have missed, and to probably guess what LEGO has in store for a Disney Marvel film as grand as this one. Avengers: Infinity War marks the culmination of 10 years of MCU films and it is where all Marvel superhero paths converge. In case you want to see it again (such as myself) here’s Infinity War’s official trailer, which is currently trending at #1 over on YouTube.

The best part of figuring out what LEGO tie-in sets will be included under this subtheme of LEGO Marvel Super Heroes is the fact that you don’t need to go further with all the predictions. As it turned out, Brickset has updated their listing to finally include tentative names of yet-to-be-confirmed six LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Avengers Infinity War sets, which we can also have an idea based on the trailer. I’ve included some screen grabs from the official trailer and added them under the sets’ supposed names so we can have a better grasp of how this LEGO set will be like. Please take note that this is my personal interpretation, so it might be entirely different from what LEGO has in store once the official set images are released.
