Since the first teaser trailer of The LEGO Movie 2 came out in June last year, there’s a particular group of minifigs that fans have been waiting to get their hands on. Thanks to an Instagram post by Mike Zuñiga (legocrcomunidad), we now have an idea on how to get the endearingly cute and tough, LEGO Movie 2 sewer babies!
The LEGO Movie 2 sewer babies are part of what seems to be a LEGO Movie 2 Minifigure Pack, similar to those from the LEGO Batman Movie and LEGO Ninjago. Other than the sewer babies, the LEGO Movie 2 Minifigure Pack also includes Emmet (yeah, LEGO is really Emmet in every TLM2 set) and a female minifigure which could either be Sharkira from Emmet and Lucy’s Escape Buggy (70829) or Roxxi from the D2C set Welcome to Apocalypseburg (70840). It’s really kind of hard to tell given the packaging’s reflection. This minifig pack also comes in at 48 pieces, and also comes with a minibuild. Instagram user the_real_fcl gives us a glimpse of how this minibuild looks like, which is kind of a half car front turned into a turret.
This TLM2 2 Minifigure Pack, together with the LEGO Movie 2 sewer babies were reportedly spotted in a LEGO certified store in Hong Kong and could probably sell for $12.99 per pack, similar to those from LEGO’s original themes. My only complaint about this is that I hope LEGO opted to include 4 or 5 LEGO Movie 2 sewer babies instead of only 2. They could have easily swapped Emmet for say, 2 additional sewer babies since the former is quite ubiquitous already. The sewer babies is a great addition to the LEGO Movie 2 D2C Welcome to Apocalypseburg (70840) if you’re planning to get one.
For those of you following our blogsite and LEGO’s massive wave of new set reveals for 2019, you’re probably aware that a considerable portion of this includes a handful of interesting polybags coming from LEGO’s diverse themes. From The LEGO Movie 2 to LEGO City themes, these 2019 LEGO polybags are great finds in themselves if you happen to spot them in your local retail stores.
It’s this time of the year when you can expect the 2019 LEGO Catalog to be rolling out in LEGO brand stores. And in case you haven’t received your copy yet, LEGO has been kind enough to upload a PDF version of this catalog, highlighting more than a hundred sets to watch out for in this first half of 2019. This may not be something new for some of us, given that there are those who managed to have a copy of this catalog ahead of LEGO uploading its online version. If you have a copy already, let’s take a moment to look at some of its highlights, and of what to expect from LEGO starting this January.
To start with, LEGO is understandably keen in heavily promoting its brick-built film. Gracing the cover of the 2019 LEGO Catalog are none other than the main characters of the LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. The table of contents underscores LEGO’s preference to present their new sets and product in a developmental fashion starting with the LEGO Duplo and Juniors line. Though the latter will eventually be replaced by the new 4+ theme, LEGO is still giving some room for some newer LEGO Juniors sets.
LEGO has also confirmed what we have shared before last November that indeed, Disney and LEGO have teamed up once again to come with another wave of Pixar inspired sets. Toy Story 4 is still far off slated to be released in theaters on June 21, so the details about these LEGO tie-in sets is still under wraps to avoid unintended film spoilers. What we are sure about these upcoming sets, as the 2019 LEGO Catalog suggests, is that it will be released under the 4+ and Duplo themes.
LEGO Disney Princess is also here to stay, with LEGO adding a “Build and Swap” play feature similar to modular sets.
LEGO Friends also introduces another novelty set with its Heart Box series. This series of stackable builds features minidoll versions of Andrea, Emma, Stephanie, Olivia, and Mia. Each set also doubles as a sort of a keepsake holder where you can keep each minidoll and other related accessories.
The heroic firefighters and aerial police of LEGO City take center stage in this first wave of 2019 LEGO City sets. This newest collection highlights new for 2019 features such as a 3-stud multi-shot water cannon, a water pump that launches LEGO water elements, floating minifigure parachute, and the return of the light and sound brick as demonstrated in the new Downtown Fire Brigade (60216) and Sky Police Air Base (60210).
And of course, the current CMF rave is still looking more awesome in the 2019 LEGO Catalog – the LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigures (71023). What makes this latest CMF series more exciting is the inclusion of the main Wizard of Oz characters and several costumed minifigs. While the LEGO Movie 2 CMF is expected to hit LEGO Stores sometime next month, the 2019 LEGO Catalog already teased on the arrival of the LEGO CMF Series 19 sometime in May. Expect more news to come in about this next wave of collectible minifigures as early as next month, especially that the Nuremberg and New York Toy Fairs are just around the corner. And of course, the epic conclusion to the finger-snapping catastrophe that Thanos brought to the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe will finally be revealed in Avengers: Endgame scheduled to be in theaters this April. The LEGO Marvel fandom can hardly wait on what LEGO has in store to celebrate the release of this grand film. Suffice it to say, LEGO and Disney are keeping a tight lid on any potential spoilers (which often comes from other third-party resellers) that may come along. So for the time being, the 2019 LEGO Catalog only has a single page, “Avengers Coming Soon” reminder for all of us. Perhaps the upcoming Toy Fairs hold the keys to unlocking these secrets – we just have to wait and see.
Aside from what was mentioned above, there are a great number of sets that you may want to watch out for this January. Racing from the Speed Champions theme, I do hope to get the 1967 Mini Cooper S Rally and 2018 MINI John Cooper Works Buggy (75894). If you’re a fan of the classic LEGO Ninjago sets, then you’ll definitely don’t want to miss out on the new LEGO Ninjago Legacy series, particularly Cole’s Earth Driller (70669). LEGO Star Wars fans are also in for a treat with LEGO’s new wave of Microfighters Series 6 – the Escape Pod vs. Dewback Microfighters (75228) is definitely a must-have for me. Finally, LEGO Technic is still going strong this year with an impressive number of new sets kick-starting 2019. I’m not really a fan of the larger Technic sets, but I like the idea behind the Getaway Truck (42090) and Police Pursuit (42091), and how they get to be combined together similar to 2018’s WHACK! (42072) and BASH! (42073).

Yes, it has been quite a while since I made my last post here in the blog site with all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, and not to mention a seriously annoying case of flu that has been plaguing our family (including myself) starting this week. But yeah, everything is still manageable. Anyways, there has been a lot going on in the brick-built world of LEGO during the past couple of days, and allow me to start with what most of us is very excited about. We saw their debut in LEGO’s 2019 H1 (or first half of the year) catalog, and this time thanks to the effort of Promobricks, we now have a closer look at the very exciting, LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigures (71023).
Bear in mind that LEGO has not yet released the ‘official’ names of these minifigures but judging from a rough Google Translation from the German online toy store B&B, we can have the following tentative names. Check these out.

Quite recently, the now long-running LEGO Ninjago line has introduced a “Legacy” subtheme celebrating how many years the franchise in all its various forms has entertained the fandom. As part of the Ninjago Legacy product release, a new minifigure character pod has been made available for collectors at year’s end. Following in the steps of previous LEGO Ninjago pods, there is now a Lloyd’s Kendo Training Pod (853899) just released on LEGO Shop@Home. Like its Ninjago-themed product brethren, the pod has been stylized with a lenticular character face, in this case, Lloyd, and also includes his minifigure plus accessories for kendo training, such as weapons and slip-on armor pieces.
Thus far, four LEGO Ninjago pods have been released, the first being a tie-in to 2017’s The LEGO Ninjago Movie: Kai’s Dojo Pod (5004916). Of the other three, one – Zane’s Kendo Training Pod (5005230) – has been a promotional item thus far, while Jay’s Kendo Training Pod (853758) and Cole’s Kendo Training Pod (853759) are both still conventionally available on LEGO Shop@Home.
The Ninjago Legacy Lloyd’s Kendo Training Pod (853899) is priced at $8.99 and has 25 pieces inside its container pod. It’s a great tribute to the longevity of LEGO Ninjago.
We’ve come to expect at certain seasons and occasions of the year that LEGO will release a new, costumed minifigure contained in a house-shaped box package. This usual setup has the dual purpose of having the box serve as a cheap background for play with the costumed minifigure. And if you recall from July of last year, we first spotted this on the wild. Since then, LEGO was pretty silent regarding this promotional’s availability. On Christmas Eve, it was noticed by eagle-eyed LEGO fans that the servers for LEGO’s websites now held the first official images for the latest LEGO seasonal costumed LEGO minifigure, now since spread throughout the rest of the internet. This is the LEGO Seasonal Penguin Girl Winter Hut (5005251), one last themed LEGO product for the soon-concluding holidays.
For a change, the product specifically calls the minifigure character to be a girl, though it would be relatively hard to tell minifig gender when they’re wearing a full-body costume. Anyway, the LEGO Seasonal Penguin Girl Winter Hut (5005251) comes with a pair of skis for equipment, with its box packaging depicting a cozy, Winter Hut facade. It’s estimated that LEGO will start the promo for the Penguin Girl Winter Hut (5005251) sometime before the year actually ends. Most likely it’ll be available with a minimum purchase, the precise details to be shared to LEGO fans who have signed up for email alerts from their website.
This news has been floating around the internet for a couple of days already, but I feel like it has not caught up wind with the majority of the LEGO fan community. We’re literally counting the days before the year ends, and this means that several LEGO store outlets have already received their share of LEGO catalogs for the first half of 2019. Thankfully, we have one LEGO fan that managed to take hold of a copy of the 2019 LEGO catalog in Polish, and has taken time to upload a video of its contents. And to our delight, other than the January 2019 LEGO sets that we can expect to be available this December and January 1st, we now get to see as well the much-anticipated LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigure Series (71023). Based on a rough Google translation, the LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigure Series (71023) is expected to arrive in LEGO Stores in May, 2019. This CMF series also comes with its series of costumed minifigs which will be a sure hit to LEGO fans: Giraffe Guy, Watermelon Guy, and Crayon Girl. It also prominently features the classic characters from the WIzard of Oz such as Dorothy Gale, Cowardly Lion, Scarecrow, and the Tin Man. We don’t have an official list of character names for this new CMF series, but Minifigure Price Guide came up with a tentative list of names that we can use for reference. I modified some of them to better fit their description.

LEGO fans have longed for the day when their favorite video game titles may be rendered as actual LEGO sets. We already saw this feat achieved with the ground-breaking LEGO Overwatch theme. Many saw this as a positive sign of great things to come, with many fans being hopeful of more LEGO-video games collaboration in the future. While there are still a lot of seemingly impossible licensing obstacles that LEGO needs to hurdle before much of these become a reality, one LEGO fan, in particular, took upon himself to recreate another classic PC role-playing game, giving it a LEGO twist. We featured a pretty accurate MOC based on the game’s recent iteration, and this time around we now have this video trailer with a certain LEGO Worlds vibe, highlighting a custom-made, LEGO Fallout video teaser. YouTube video creator Bearly Regal made the video to conceptualize how a LEGO Fallout video game by, say, longtime LEGO game developers WB Interactive and Traveller’s Tales might look. He expressed this in the video’s accompanying caption paraphrasing the Fallout series slogan: “LEGO, LEGO never changes.”
Rendering of the Fallout environment for the video was done through the WBI-TT sandbox game LEGO Worlds, available across current video game platforms. The game recently got a “Wild-West” themed DLC.
It seems that the trend of rendering popular film and video game trailers into LEGO bricks is here to stay. We’ve seen some recent sweet productions on this side of YouTube land such as next year’s Avengers: Endgame, Pacific Rim Uprising, and even Bohemian Rhapsody. All these teaser trailers were animated using actual stop-motion techniques using LEGO pieces, and for a video game such as Fallout, it is quite ingenious to see how Bearly Legal managed to use LEGO Worlds as its platform and go full 3D to make some fun vignettes to upload online.

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part is only about two months away from its premiere, and already a lot of the big set tie-ins have been revealed in past months. Now, the tie-in polybags are getting their turn on the spotlight, with the recent showings of Mini Master-Building MetalBeard (30528) and Star-Stuck Emmet (30620). Now, there’s one other LEGO Movie 2 set priced as a polybag that’s longlisted on the Eurobricks forum, one with the set number 30340. A reader of LEGO news source The Brick Fan has found the said polybag being sold in Target, and has given its name: Emmet’s ‘Piece’ Offering (30340).
Coming in at 44 pieces, the pun-worthy Emmet’s ‘Piece’ Offering (30340) is a multicolored brick-built heart, ostensibly made by Emmet, which also comes as a minifig included in this polybag.
As with most LEGO polybag sets, we might expect Emmet’s ‘Piece’ Offering (30340) to be likely priced at $3.99 – the Eurobricks listing being at €2.99 in turn. We hope to eventually get further details on this little set very soon.
If any of our readers has watched Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in cinemas lately, then they’ll get the statement “All right, let’s do this one last time”. We’ve talked about the 2018 LEGO Bricktober 4-minifigure box sets so many times before, as they became available (save for one). Now, the last of these has come.
After seeing the Harry Potter Bricktober (5005254) in Barnes & Noble, and the Ninjago (5005257) in LEGO Stores, now the 2018 Bricktober of LEGO Jurassic World (500525) is up on Shop@Home US. Note that supplies for this set, supposed to only be for the Toys R Us Bricktober event, is limited. That might explain the high $99 minimum LEGO purchase to get one of these.
The fourth 2018 Bricktober set showing LEGO Marvel Super Heroes (5005256) is apparently never coming stateside due to being an exclusive offering at Toys R Us Canada. That’s too bad.
One major draw for this particular LEGO Bricktober minifigure set is the fact that it has one new minifigure version of Jurassic Park/World franchise character Dr. Ian Malcolm. And apparently LEGO hasn’t mentioned that the LEGO Jurassic World Bricktober set (500525) will come to LEGO Stores, so the only recourse for collectors is at Shop@Home.
