Build Your Own Collection of LEGO BrickHeadz Heroes and Villains With These Books

LEGO BrickHeadz is still going strong and with the recent reveal of the LEGO BrickHeadz Star Wars Kylo Ren and Sith Trooper (75232), we can still expect that LEGO still has more plans for these brick collectibles. I guess part of the appeal with this theme is the fact that the design follows a prescribed format that allows you to recreate any of your favorite pop icons into a standard LEGO BrickHeadz. With a bit of experimenting with your own LEGO bricks, you can even come up with any BrickHeadz character that you want. This is the principle behind these collections of books written by Charles Pritchett – the unofficial guide of building your own LEGO BrickHeadz Heroes and Villains.

I first stumbled upon Charles’ works when I was casually browsing Brickset’s listing of available LEGO books. His Building LEGO BrickHeadz Heroes Volume One: The Unofficial Guide, and its counterpart that allows you to build a collection of BrickHeadz villains, immediately caught my attention. I am impressed with the excellent custom LEGO BrickHeadz sets that he was able to come up, especially when it included some of my favorite Marvel and DC characters. The best part of it is that he makes the building instructions for these MOCs available for everyone. You simply need to search through your collection of LEGO bricks to see if you have the parts needed to build your favorite heroes and villains. Since your working with a LEGO BrickHeadz, you can easily look for a substitute part if in case you don’t have the prescribed LEGO piece mentioned in assembling the build.

It looks like LEGO intends this to be a regular thing for its CMF Series. After offering an entire box of the LEGO Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 2 (71024) over at LEGO Shop@Home last month, LEGO is now having a repeat of the same offering by listing LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 19 (71025) full boxes over at shop.LEGO.com

Same as with their previous offer, this full box of LEGO CMF Series 19 is tagged with its particular set number which is 66629. LEGO Technic Land Rover Defender (42110) Official Reveal and Press Release

Earlier today, the LEGO Group has officially announced the arrival of its next sophisticated and ultra-realistic Technic set. Since June, I’ve reported that LEGO has partnered with Land Rover to come up with a brick-built replica of the latter’s next-generation icon and the result was the LEGO Technic Land Rover Defender (42110).

Coming in at 2,573 pieces the LEGO Technic Land Rover Defender (42110) is packed with authentic details and features some of the advanced building techniques that veteran LEGO builders will find enjoyably challenging. It has a front wheel-steering mechanism, a functional and integral winch, 6-cylinder engine, and LEGO Technic’s most advanced gearbox to date. These and much more make this set stand out as an authentic replica of the actual Land Rover Defender. The set measures 8 inches (22cm) high, 16 inches (42cm) long and 7 inches (20cm) wide in an olive green, grey and black color scheme. Opening doors allow access to the model’s elaborate cabin with its working steering wheel and a detailed dashboard. A new transmission system has two levers for engaging high or low ratios and a selector for changing gear – LEGO Technic’s most sophisticated gearbox yet.

You can also fold the rear seat forward to view the four-speed sequential gearbox, lift the bonnet to view the in-line six-cylinder engine with moving pistons and turn the rear-mounted spare wheel to open the rear door.

Reflecting the action-fuelled accessories available for the full-size New Defender, the model is finished with a working winch, removable roof rack with storage box, pannier, ladder and traction mats.
The LEGO Technic Land Rover Defender set will be available globally from 1 October 2019.

More LEGO Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker Sets Spotted On Store Shelves

After spotting a pair of new LEGO BrickHeadz Star Wars set on Target shelves, it looks like more slip-ups have led to more LEGO Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker sets turning up ahead of their scheduled release dates. Instagram user jl.lego.studios has spotted another set that most fans hail as one of the better LEGO Star Wars sets out there.

First, off we have this first image of the LEGO Star Wars Kylo Ren’s Shuttle (75256) – one of the larger LEGO Star Wars sets in The Rise of the Skywalker subtheme. Retailing for $149.99 USD, this set comes in at 1,005 pieces and includes six minifigures: Kylo Ren, General Pryde, a Sith Trooper, a First Order Stormtrooper and two Knights of Ren. Though this new iteration does not have much of a difference from its 2015 predecessor in Kylo Ren’s Command Shuttle (75104), the new color scheme and the inclusion of uniquely designed minifigs such as the Knights of Ren, makes the newer version more attractive to LEGO Star Wars fans.

Second, we have the LEGO Star Wars Pasaana Speeder Chase (75250) coming in at 373 pieces and will retail for $39.99 USD. The set features a sort of a chase scene where Rey is aboard on what looks like a dilapitated speeder pursued by the forces of the First Order. The scene also takes place in the desert planet of Pasaana. The set includes a new minifigure iteration of Rey, a First Order Treadspeeder Driver, a First Order Jet Trooper and BB-8.

If there is anything good that we can get out of this store mishap is the fact that we can expect to see these and other LEGO Star Wars The Rise of Skywalkers sets to be available anytime soon on or before October 4. This may no longer be new to you knowing that leaks about the rest of the sets in this series have already gone out like wildfire over the internet several weeks ago. But still, it’s good to know that we’re now just counting the days before these sets are made available to the public. Stay tuned here in our blogsite for more updates about these upcoming sets.

LEGO BrickHeadz Star Wars Kylo Ren and Sith Trooper (75232) Spotted in the Wild

Another store employee made a bit of slip-up revealing a quite unexpected surprise. We’re just counting the weeks before the launch of Star Wars’ Triple Force Friday and it seems that LEGO is already prepared for it as well. In fact, from the reveal of this year’s highly polarizing UCS Imperial Star Destroyer (75252) to LEGO’s Triple Force Friday gift-with-purchase set, everything is gradually falling into place. And having LEGO sets placed as early as now on Target shelves in spite of the embargo is part of the plan as well (I guess). LEGO eagle-eyed fan jl.lego.studios made a rather interesting discovery that is putting the LEGO Star Wars fandom in a frenzy. He snapped a photo of what looks like a new pair of bundled BrickHeadz in the form of the LEGO BrickHeadz Star Wars Kylo Ren and Sith Trooper (75232) spotted in an undisclosed Target store in Texas.

This new LEGO BrickHeadz dual pack features Kylo Ren (#94) in a damaged helmet and the new crimson Sith Trooper (#95), as they will be revealed in The Rise of Skywalker later this year. The set clocks in at 240 pieces and is expected to retail for $24.99 USD. This is the second time that Kylo gets the BrickHeadz treatment as part of a double-pack set, the first being the LEGO BrickHeadz Star Wars Rey and Kylo Ren Limited Edition Collectors Pack (41489). It’s quite unsure if we will see the option of having this new iteration of Kylo and the new Sith Trooper sold separately. Also from the looks of things, seeing this new pair of LEGO Star Wars BrickHeadz is a good indicator that LEGO still has faith in the popularity of these brick collectibles amidst rumors of the theme’s eventual cancellation which has always been hanging overhead.

Now before you rush into your local Target store, be aware that these are probably placed by mistake by an unsuspecting store employee, and sales of this set are still probably on hold until Triple Force Friday dawns on October 4. In fact, this LEGO BrickHeadz Star Wars Kylo Ren and Sith Trooper (75232) double-pack will not be available for sale until such time, unless you stumble upon this on eBay.

After officially releasing the building instructions for this next gift-with-purchase set, LEGO has finally revealed how we can add the LEGO Star Wars Mini Droid Commander (75522) promotional set to our LEGO shopping cart both online and in-store. However, you might find this promo a bit limiting because of the qualifying purchase attached to it.

LEGO Shop@Home has announced that LEGO VIP members who will be purchasing the LEGO Star Wars BOOST Droid Commander (75253) from September 9 to 15, will be entitled to receive its miniature version as well.

I have to say that as so much that I love to have this freebie added to my collection, the very limited qualifying purchase to get this is a bit of a letdown. To top this off, you only have this week to make a decision of purchasing its larger counterpart. LEGO does not mince words when it says that if in case you change your mind and you want a refund from this purchase, then you have to return this freebie as well.

The way I see it, LEGO clearly intends this as an exclusive and integral part of the larger Droid Commander set. The Mini Droid Commander gift does not appear in shop.LEGO.com cart as a separate promotional item but is fundamentally included in the Droid Commander set that it even warranted a new set number (5006036). Nevertheless, one or two things that we can be appreciate about this is promo is that you will also receive the LEGO Hidden Side Newbury Juice Bar (40336) for this purchase as well. LEGO will also throw in a LEGO Lunch Box (5006017) just for good measure.

The LEGO Star Wars BOOST Droid Commander comes in at 1,177 pieces retailing for $199.99 USD. It features motorized, brick-built versions of the Star Wars’ iconic droids such as R2-D2, Gonk Droid, and Mouse Droid. Its smaller cousin the LEGO Star Wars Mini Droid Commander (75522) is a perfect display piece that highlights these droids in their miniature versions. LEGO has already released the building instructions for this mini set so you can also try to build one of your own as well.

A Look At The Set That Never Was (Supposedly) – The LEGO Architecture Las Vegas (21038)

If you recall back in 2017, the LEGO Architecture Skyline subtheme had a particular set that never made it to the mainstream public. Triggered by the unfortunate events of October, 2017’s Mandalay Bay Hotel shooting, the LEGO Group deemed wise to cancel the impending release of the LEGO Architecture Las Vegas (21038), and was eventually replaced by a redesigned set that noticeably deviated from the original plan of including the famous hotel along the Las Vegas strip. This is completely understandable and was a welcomed move from TLG that highlights the social and moral compass that guides the company.

The unreleased 487-piece LEGO Architecture Las Vegas (21038) set suffered from an initial delayed release date which was soon followed by another until it was officially announced that it will be replaced with a redesigned model. It was quite a sad day for LEGO Architecture fans, but it was a necessary step if LEGO will stay true to its core values of not depicting real-life violence in its toys.

So for almost 2 years, we thought that this set does not eventually exist. Not until a surprising report from Tom Alphin aka the Brick Architect, revealed that some LEGO Architecture Las Vegas (21038) sets found their way in a retail store in Johannesburg, South Africa. It does not come as a surprise if LEGO has this set planned ahead long before the unfortunate shooting took place. So these sets either missed LEGO’s recall train or has found their way into the market from some LEGO warehouse from who knows where.

According to Tom, this set is not actually his but was provided to him to be reviewed. In fact, Tom did a superb review that I highly recommend that you go through as well. Apart from the lamentable circumstances in which this set has been connected to, it is commendable how this set introduces several new pieces that are believed to be only found in this set such as the Technic 3-Blade Rotor (32125) and the 1x2x1⅔ Brick w/ 2 studs 1-side (32952), both in Pearl Gold colors that replicate the Mandalay Bay Hotel’s signature architecture. Needless to say, the build also introduces an interesting building technique that captures the hotel’s unique design.

No one knows exactly how many of these unreleased LEGO sets are out there – even a search over at eBay does not even yield any positive result. We may never see the LEGO Architecture Las Vegas (21038) grace our Skylines collection, but I am thankful that someone was kind enough to go out of his way to give us a closer look at this set that never was. Grab These Retiring LEGO Star Wars Sets While You Still Can

If you’re a LEGO Star Wars completionists, or just keen on eyeing some of the LEGO Star Wars sets that were released recently, then you might need to consider planning your next LEGO purchase. Star Wars insider Rebelscum shared a reliable piece of info that you might find interesting, if not necessary in building your LEGO collection. We all know for a fact that LEGO sets have a certain “shelf life” in terms of their availability in LEGO stores and in the market in general. Approximately, LEGO sets are available to the public and are included in the LEGO production cue for up to 2 years. And according to Rebelscum’s sources including info from RetiringSets.com, the following are retiring LEGO Star Wars sets that you may want to keep an eye on if you are looking forward to having them to your collection.

Though yet to be confirmed, do take note that the retirement of these sets is said to commence in December until the later part of 2021. So if you’re still looking forward to having the largest LEGO set around, then you still have until December next year to gather the determination (and cash) to make that purchase. If you see a couple of retiring LEGO Star Wars sets in this list that you are looking forward to having, then be kind enough to purchase these sets through the affiliate links below that will bring you over at LEGO Shop@Home. Oh Boy! This Custom LEGO Mickey Mouse Pays Homage to the Most Famous Disney Character of All Time

Perhaps it’s safe to say that Mickey Mouse is Disney’s most brick-rendered character ever since, well, we learned to play with LEGO bricks. Our good ol’ pal Mickey further cemented this title when LEGO and Disney entered into a partnership that gave us our first LEGO sets featuring the iconic mouse. Initially made available as part of LEGO’s Baby Theme, a predecessor to the LEGO Duplo line back in 2000, Mickey continued to be a part of LEGO sets that catered to budding preschool builders. However, during the past 3 to 4 years, LEGO made Mickey’s presence even more felt across its sets now catering to an older generation of LEGO fans who grew up with Disney’s main star. In 2016, we saw our very first LEGO Mickey Mouse minifigure in the LEGO Disney CMF (71012), and the massive LEGO Disney Castle (71040). This year, LEGO added another tribute to the legendary Disney character with the introduction of the LEGO Ideas Steamboat Willie (21317) and the LEGO Disney CMF Series 2 (71024) both of which feature a vintage version of the star.

Furthermore, we also get to see a LEGO Mickey Mouse BrickHeadz edition which gives us our very first official brick-built version of the character. The LEGO fan community was likewise eager to showcase their own custom LEGO Mickey Mouse builds: from a Mecha Mickey Robo to a LEGO Mickey Mouse brick statue, LEGO fans can’t seem to have enough of the most famous mouse of all time.

This time around, Build Better Bricks also pays tribute to Mickey with its own brick-built version of the character while throwing in a couple of play features at the same time. B3’s LEGO Mickey Mouse is a whimsical take on the Disney star’s fun-loving and adventurous spirit. The way Mickey’s face and head turned out is really spot-on, making use of LEGO’s new rounded tiles. There are also a couple of legs and arms articulations that are featured in this original B3 creation which allows you to pose this custom LEGO Mickey Mouse in many different ways.

It’s Mickey Mouse, the most iconic and famous cartoon character of all time. This LEGO model features lots of articulation and allows you to bring a little animation magic to the model. The face, eyes, hands, feet and buttons all make use of some of the new rounded tile pieces which are perfect for this model. Build Your Own LEGO Star Wars Mini Droid Commander (75522)

Last month, I reported on another gift-with-purchase set that will accompany your next LEGO Star Wars purchase. So if you’re eyeing to buy that massive LEGO Star Wars UCS Imperial Star Destroyer (tongue in cheek), or any particular Star Wars set of your fancy, then you might want to hold on to your horses for a bit. As of this posting, details about the availability of the LEGO Star Wars Mini Droid Commander (75522) is still scant – in fact, it was not even mentioned in this month’s LEGO Store Calendar. For all we know, this next LEGO freebie may be part of LEGO’s Triple Force Friday’s promotional in October, or we could see it released earlier – its all speculations at this point.

However, what we are certain about is that you can start building your own Mini Droid Commander with this set of instructions now available for download from LEGO’s Customer Service portal. LEGO was kind enough to upload the PDF file of this mini collectible’s building instructions ahead of the polybag’s release. As you can see, the Mini Droid Commander has approximately 60 pieces, including the exclusive 2×8 20 Years of LEGO Star Wars commemorative plate. Apart from this, the rest of the pieces does not seem to be too hard to find. You may also replace the buzzsaw minifigure accessory if you do not have that yet in your inventory of LEGO parts.
