Five 2019 LEGO Harry Potter Sets Rumored to Arrive This Summer

Since the launch of the LEGO Harry Potter Wizarding World theme last year, the theme has proven to be one of the most popular LEGO licensed sets among Harry Potter and LEGO fans. It has become so popular that it is quite impossible to think that LEGO will be pulling the curtain to this theme anytime soon. With several awards and nominations under its belt, it is quite unreal to think that we will see the end of this theme very soon. As rumor has it, we definitely haven’t seen the last of the LEGO Harry Potter Wizarding World theme. In fact, Brick Fanatics managed to get some inside info that there will more 2019 LEGO Harry Potter sets slated to be released this summer, with five sets leading this particular release. According to their source, we can expect the following sets sometime in summer:

  • Expecto Patronum
  • Tri-Wizard Challenge
  • Hagrid’s Hut (this is the fourth version of the set – 4707, 4738, and 4754 – if ever this rumor is verified)
  • Knight Bus (a rehashed version of 2011’s LEGO Harry Potter Knight Bus 4866)
  • Hogwarts Watch Tower
4707 1
LEGO Harry Potter Hagrid’s Hut (4707) from 2001.

Except for Hagrid’s Hut and the Knight Bus, the rest are new to the theme. Expecto Patronum refers to the spell that Harry casts to summon an ethereal being to drive away Dementors. The Tri-Wizard Challenge sound promising, considering that the challenge itself consists of actually three different tasks: retrieving a golden egg from a not-so-friendly dragon, getting back someone who you’ll badly miss from the aquatic Merpeople, and getting the Triwizard Cup at the middle of an unforgiving maze. If this rumored set turned out to be true, then it’s cool to see all of these challenges merged into one LEGO set.

How do you think the Triwizard Cup looks like in LEGO bricks?

The Hogwarts Watch Tower is a bit of a mystery to me since I’m not sure what particular watchtower it is referring to. I need to polish out my Potterlore if I’m missing what this one is.

These rumored summer 2019 LEGO Harry Potter sets are expected to be released by July 1. And in case you’re planning to add the current LEGO Harry Potter sets to your collection, then you may want to check out shop.LEGO.com.

Here Are Some of the New LEGO Products Revealed at the 2019 London Toy Fair

Brick Fanatics is at the floor of the Olympia London for the 2019 London Toy Fair, where the LEGO Group has returned for a round of new LEGO products revealed, celebrating the release of its brick sequel the LEGO Movie 2. Aside from bagging the Licensed Product of the Year award, UK’s 66th Toy Fair was also an opportunity for LEGO to showcase some of its products.

The LEGO Group attended the event, occupying a private showroom where it introduced some of its TLM2 product tie-ins that will be out this year. Though there was no new set reveals other than the cool LEGO Movie 2 The Rexcelsior! (70839) which was only mentioned and was not on display, there are plenty of LEGO Movie 2 lights, stationeries, and stickers to name a few.

Some of these new LEGO product include new TLM2 key lights and torches. There is also a line of bags, reusable stickers and other school necessities that kids will surely enjoy.

LEGO Harry Potter Named as Licensed Product of the Year at the 2019 London Toy Fair

This year is an exciting one for LEGO, particularly with regards to their accomplishments in the toy industry. Not only do we see the LEGO Group come back for the London Toy Fair, but its LEGO Harry Potter line of sets were named as the Licensed Product of the Year granted by UK Toy Industry Awards.

The return of the LEGO Harry Potter sets last year were warmly welcomed by Potter and LEGO fans alike, especially with the debut of the massive LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle (71043), the nostalgic LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Express (75955) and the LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures (71022). Recognition was also given to the LEGO Group for its LEGO Movie 2 LEGO Movie Maker (70820) as one of the 25 “Hero Toys” for 2019. LEGO is rumored to release additional LEGO Harry Potter sets this year, with sources pointing to a July 1 release date.

LEGO is also expected to make waves at next month’s New York Toy Fair, with a total of nine nominations for the 2019 Toy of the Year Awards by the Toy Association Inc. The flagship Hogwarts Castle (71043) was also nominated for Specialty Toy of the Year, the LEGO Harry Potter CMF (71022) for the Collectible of the Year, and the Hogwarts Great Hall (75954) for Construction Toy of the Year.

Congratulations to LEGO for bagging the Licensed Product of the Year award, and cheers for more awesome sets in the future!

Thanks to Brick Fanatics for the heads up.

Go Beyond the Movie with The LEGO Movie 2 Video Game – New Trailer Released

Since its announcement last November, WB and TT Games have been busy in promoting The LEGO Movie 2 video game. And as we inch closer to the film’s debut in theaters, WB Games UK has released its first trailer for the tie-up video game that retells the adventure and Emmet and Lucy across the Systar System and as they fight formidable Duplo invaders.

With over 100 playable characters to unlock, the LEGO Movie 2 video game features several worlds to explore based on the film. Not much has been said regarding game play and the various levels that players can explore, but its sure to have several key elements that are distinct to other LEGO video game titles. We can expect a certain degree of co-op play using almost all characters that will appear in the film. We might as well speculate that some of these playable characters might end to be an actual minifigure later on. It will also be nice to see if these characters will somehow find their way to become the next series of TLM2 collectible minifigures. Players also get to explore the various levels and worlds that will also be shown in the film.

The LEGO Movie 2 video game is expected to arrive on February 26, 2019 to be released on the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC retailing for $40. You may pre-order your copy of the game via Amazon US or if you wish to avail of the free LEGO Movie 2 Star-Stuck Emmet polybag, then you might want to check out with Amazon UK or EB Games in Australia.

The LEGO Movie 2 The Rexcelsior! (70839) Revealed at the London Toy Fair 2019

Summer seems to come early as LEGO finally lifted the veil on one of its second wave of LEGO Movie 2 sets at the London Toy Fair 2019. UK’s premiere toy fair has just kicked in, and LEGO is intent to make an impression. And what better way to do so through a set that represents the bold and daring character of the film’s newest brick hero. The LEGO Movie 2 The Rexcelsior! (70839) has just been revealed, and it boasts a pretty cool interior and plenty of play features befitting of a LEGO Movie 2 set.

70839 2

The Rexcelsior! – Rex Dangervest’s space abode – made its first appearance in the LEGO Movie 2’s official trailer where Emmet gets to know more about Rex and variety of things that he does. When I first saw the Rexcelsior, I immediately had this feeling that this is a most likely candidate to become a LEGO set, if not a direct-to-consumer (D2C) one. Glad to see that LEGO had this in mind all along. The LEGO Movie 2 The Rexcelsior! (70839) comes in at 1,826 pieces and comes with Rex Dangervest and Emmet minifigures. By far, I think this is the first alternate version of Emmet that we get to see among so many that are generously included across several TLM2 sets. This particular remake of Emmet is comically called Stubble Trouble Emmet owing to the fact that he just dotted his face using markers to mimic those cool and manly, facial hairs that Rex has.

70839 1

The Rexcelsior! (70839) also features several raptor microfigures, 3 of which are a first in any LEGO set. It also includes two nanofigures of Emmet and Rex, and microbuilds of Emmet’s house, a forklift, interaptors, and a dropship. I guess LEGO intends the Rexcelsior (70839) to be a microscaled build similar to the likes of the LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle (71043) and LEGO Marvel Superheroes The SHIELD Helicarrier (76042) though obviously in a much smaller size coming in at around 1,800++ pieces.

The LEGO Movie 2 The Rexcelsior! (70839) is expected to retail for $149.99 or £ 139.99, and will be available to all LEGO fans beginning May 1, 2019. Read on for the set’s full product description below. We don’t have additional images of this set as of the moment except for some close-up ones of Emmet and Rex. I’ll give you an update as more images come in later on. For more info on the current TLM2 sets, visit shop.LEGO.com

LEGO Returns this Year at the London Toy Fair 2019

Last year, the LEGO Group opted to skip the highly celebrated annual London Toy Fair and other toy exhibits which it traditionally attended to. Though there were no official reasons that the company mentioned, it was speculated that the reason for such is the slight decline in sales that LEGO experienced in general, and the significant change in leadership that it needed to go through. However, for this year, LEGO returns to the floor of the London Toy Fair 2019 or to be exact, at one of the venue’s showroom to flaunt its latest sets. According to the event’s floor plan, LEGO will not be setting up a booth at the floor area like it usually does but will be presenting in the Olympia Room, near the Visitors Entrance at the West Ground side of the venue. The choice of having an enclosed room as an exhibit area could mean that LEGO is gearing up to exhibit a significant number of sets, mostly coming from the LEGO Movie 2 tie-ins.

70841
The LEGO Movie 2 Benny’s Space Squad (70841) has proven to be one of LEGO’s most popular set to date.

There is no information yet as of this posting if new and still, yet-to-be-revealed sets will be featured by LEGO inside the Olympia Room, and if ever media outlets will be allowed to take images. Traditionally, there are sets that can be photographed during these events, while others are off limits from camera lens.

Whatever is the case, it’s a great comeback for LEGO after a year of hiatus from these events. And I hope that the London Toy Fair 2019 is just the start of a series of toy exhibits that LEGO will actively participate in this year. We still have the Nuremburg Toy Fair in Germany to be held from January 30 to February 3, and the New York Toy Fair from February 16 to 19. Keep tabs with our blog site for updates regarding LEGO’s announcements during these toy fair events. Be sure to subscribe by clicking on the red notification bell at the bottom of this page.

Are We To See LEGO Fabuland Figures in Future The LEGO Movie 2 Sets?

Warner Bros Animation has released its latest teaser spot with a very interesting twist. We all know by now that the LEGO Movie 2 is chockfull of cameos and references coming from LEGO’s diverse range of home-grown themes and third-party licensed sets. Pop culture icons (though with some mild, political undertones) such as Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is also rendered in minifigure form. The latest teaser also has a very brief, but significant cameo towards the end, which is loaded with nostalgia and the possibility that we can get to see them again in future TLM2 sets. If you haven’t seen it yet or just missed it during the last 2 or 3 seconds of the teaser, then here’s the video once again that clearly shows a couple of LEGO Fabuland figures as posted in the LEGO Movie 2’s official Twitter account.

AFOLs quickly noticed these LEGO Fabuland figures amongst this team of LEGO minifigures, minidolls and Duplo figures. For those who are new to LEGO, Fabuland is a theme that began in 1979 and lasted for more than a decade until 1989. It is designed for younger children and features animal characters in a town-like setting. Imagine an old-school version of Nintendo’s Animal Crossing and you’ll get the idea.

A screenshot of a LEGO Fabuland figure.
01 lego fabuland and fox suit girl 2
Another LEGO Fabuland figure is seen further back.

As you can see from the above screenshots, the LEGO Movie 2 adds a couple of LEGO Fabuland figures as cameos in the film. We get to see a Fabuland Bulldog in front and a gray Fabuland Dog in the third row. As far as the LEGO Movies are concerned, this is the first time that these LEGO Fabuland figures had their actual screen time since they were only casually mentioned in the first film. This is only speculation at this point, but since LEGO has basically broken away with the tradition of offering minifigs, minidolls, and Duplo characters in separate themes and boxes, can we expect therefore that the next wave of LEGO Movie 2 sets will include actual LEGO Fabuland characters? We saw how LEGO is very much willing to bring back classic minfigs that alludes to the Classic Space theme such as those from Benny’s Space Squad (70841), and the rumored re-emergence of classic LEGO Star Wars sets and minfigures as part of LEGO’s 20th Year Celebration of the LEGO Star Wars theme. So is it possible that we will see the same treatment offered to LEGO Fabuland figures? The possibility is surely exciting.

00 lego fabuland and fox suit girl 1
A new Fox Suit Girl minifigure is also seen in the teaser spot.
03 lego fabuland and fox suit girl 2
It is likely that the Fox Suit Girl minifigure may be a part of a second series of TLM2 CMF.

In addition to these LEGO Fabuland characters, perhaps a second wave of the LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigures is now in the works. This is not far-fetched considering that LEGO did the same with the LEGO Batman Movie CMF Series 1 and Series 2. The idea is spurred by the appearance of a new costumed character, now dubbed as Fox Suit Girl. Again, these are just speculations at this point but it is something really cool if it turns to be true. It is highly unlikely that we’ll get confirmation from this soon, even if LEGO’s presence is very noticeable at the London Toy Fair that is currently happening at Olympia London. In any case, a second series of TLM2 CMF is surely welcomed, and we’ll have plenty more ideas of what characters can be possibly included in the series once we see the LEGO Movie 2 in theaters on February 8.

Museu Nacional – Rio de Janeiro Is the First Product Idea to Qualify for the LEGO Ideas First 2019 Review Stage

This is one of those rare moments where a LEGO product idea gets the attention of fans and is immediately caught up in a storm of likes and 10K thumbs up to become a potential LEGO Ideas set. I guess timing is one key factor for the success of a particular LEGO set proposal, such as the case of our first product idea for 2019 that managed to garner those coveted 10K approvals from the LEGO community in just a short amount of time. To open the 2019 LEGO Ideas Review Stage, we have our first qualifier in the form of the Museu Nacional – Rio de Janeiro by MaxakalisaurusTopai.

lego ideas museo nacional 6 e1548023715611

This particular LEGO product idea is inspired by the actual Museu Nacional – Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, which sadly caught fire last September 2, 2018, where a large portion of the country’s historical artifacts was also consumed in the blaze. It was a sad day for the people of Brazil and for the rest of the world where over 90% of its collection throughout its 200 years of existence were unfortunately consumed by the flames. The museum’s collection of more than 20 million artifacts is hailed as one of the largest collections of natural history in the world and it’s just staggering to think that almost all of these are now gone forever.

In honor of the Museu Nacional – Rio de Janeiro, LEGO fan MaxakalisaurusTopai decided to render it in LEGO bricks following the typical design of LEGO Architecture sets, and have it submitted as a LEGO product idea. In just less than a month from its submission, the vast majority of the LEGO community responded with eagerness highlighting the important role the Museu Nacional – Rio de Janeiro has played in the preservation of our history. It is simply heart-warming to see the outpouring of support coming from the LEGO community. Here’s what MaxakalisaurusTopai has to say about this product idea.

Museu Nacional – Rio de Janeiro

The National Museum is the largest Brazilian Museum. Actually it was… On September 2nd, 2018, it caught on fire. The greatest historical, artistic, cultural and scientific patrimony in Brazil, was destroyed by an enormous fire. And with the fire, we lost more than objects and collector’s items. We lost a huge part of our history.

We lost the skeleton of the largest dinosaur ever found in South America, and part of the fossil of Luzia, the oldest habitant of all Americas. We lost the mysterious Egyptian mummy Sha Amun En Su, the imposing African throne of the Kingdom of Dahomey and even the indescribable frescoes of Pompeii. Over 90% of the collection was destroyed. Its 200 years of history and 20 million invaluable items. And also, the museum’s building is a symbol of Brazil’s architectural history, and now is turned into ashes. On top of all that, the reconstruction of the National Museum will take 20 long years.

How to continue inspiring the audience of the National Museum (the majority of families and children) during this time? We’ll leave the National Museum alive in our imagination. We’ll rebuild it brick by brick with LEGO, highlighting its historical importance. And the children who help build the National Museum will actually be helping to rebuild the National Museum in real life.

The Museu Nacional – Rio de Janeiro is our first LEGO product idea for the First 2019 Review Stage. The Third 2018 LEGO Ideas Review Stage has come to a close with five candidates vying to become the next official LEGO Ideas set. We also hope to have a reveal of the Second 2018 LEGO Review Results which is slated to be announced anytime this month until early February.

From the Rumor Mill: LEGO Star Wars 20th Anniversary Sets and Minifigures Identified

2019 is a special year for the majority of LEGO fans since this year marks the 20th year milestone of one of LEGO’s longest running licensed theme. LEGO has already revealed its intention of coming up with an exclusive line of LEGO Star Wars commemorative sets when it unveiled its special, 20 Years of LEGO Star Wars logo. Needless to say, whatever sets and minifigures that will make it to the cut of this prized, limited-edition anniversary sets will closely be monitored by the excited majority of LEGO Star Wars fans. Thanks to intel gathered by German LEGO fan site Stone Wars, we now have an idea on what these LEGO Star Wars 20th anniversary sets are, and how their minifigures will look like.

03 lego star wars anniversary

It should be noted that though LEGO has released and rehashed many LEGO Star Wars sets in the past, the LEGO Star Wars 20th anniversary sets are unique in themselves because of certain commemorative minifigures included with them. According to Stone Wars, these are the upcoming LEGO Star Wars sets that will have the special commemorative minifigures.

It is also rumored that these commemorative minifigs will also retain the exact same look of their predecessors from 20 years ago: they will sport the original yellow skin tone (except of course for Darth Vader and Lando), and the same torso and leg prints. Now I understand that devout LEGO Star Wars collectors may be shaking their heads in disappointment considering how their precious collection may depreciate in value because of this. However, LEGO was kind enough to include one very distinctive feature to these commemorative LEGO Star Wars minifigures. They will all have a special print on the back of their torso in big bold characters that say: ’20 Years, LEGO Star Wars’. Collectors will surely welcome this nice gesture from LEGO, and it will definitely help in distinguishing these new LEGO Star Wars minifigures from their original prototypes from two decades ago.

Other than the special print at the back of these minifigures, each of them will also come with a commemorative minifig display tile similar to those included in the LEGO CMF line, the difference will be that the studs from the former are placed near the edge of the tile. The minifigure stand also features the same unique print, and the name of the LEGO Star Wars minifigure emblazoned on the larger part of the tile.

Just a bit of a disclaimer though: as the title of this story suggests, this is all but a rumor until such time that LEGO confirms these LEGO Star Wars 20th anniversary sets and minifigures, or a barrage of official images starts to come in. As of now, we’ll keep our radars open and I’ll update you accordingly as new info comes in. While waiting, be sure to check out this year’s newest LEGO Star Wars sets at shop.LEGO.com

Here’s How To Get The LEGO Movie 2 Star-Stuck Emmet (30620) Polybag

The LEGO Movie 2 has its share of polybags to go around, with some of them already spotted at Walmart and Target stores. However, there are still some of these polybags that remains to be seen out there, particularly the LEGO Movie 2 Star-Stuck Emmet (30620) polybag. Just to be clear, the Star-Stuck Emmet (30620) polybag is a promotional item included with the upcoming LEGO Movie 2 video game set to be released on February 26 in the US, and March 1 in the UK.

From the looks of it, this is the only way to have the Star-Stuck Emmet (30620) polybag especially if you intend to purchase the LEGO Movie 2 video game. You can also opt to check with eBay, but bear in mind that even as of this posting, this particular polybag is nowhere to be found in the third-party seller platform.

Star-Stuck Emmet (30620) Polybag

If you’re into LEGO video games, then pre-ordering the LEGO Movie 2 video game is a no-brainer. As of now, EB Games in Australia and Amazon UK are offering this upcoming video game title for pre-order on their respective website, with an option of selecting the title’s Limited Edition Minifigure Edition. Though Amazon US also has a similar pre-order listing, it should be noted that the website has no specific mention of the Star-Stuck Emmet (30620) polybag as a free promotional bundled together with the video game title.
