“Adventure Box” Gets 10-K Support on LEGO Ideas

In terms of LEGO builds, the more moving parts and gimmicks it has, the more dynamic/”alive” they feel. Buildable animals or structures are cool, but you need moving parts if you want to do more than display sets. For that you usually go for LEGO vehicles, but that’s not a general rule. Among the prospective sets in LEGO Ideas First 2022 Review, we’ve got a brick-built toilet with working flush. For the more “traditional” vehicle build there’s a car that transforms into a jet (without adding/removing/swapping pieces). A new submission with 10-K support shows off some similarly impressive brick mechanics.

ideas homobrickus adventurebox 1

From Ideas member Homo Brickus, we have this “Adventure Box” set ready for review. Old hands at handicraft/mechanics might recognize this build. It’s a multi-deck storage on a cantilever, which opens up when the handle on the cantilever frame swings one way. The adventure box on the other hand is dual-cantilever. That provides seven containers stacked into four layers. There’s a big tray at the bottom, and two smaller trays side by side on each upper layer. Homo Brickus based his build on an old sewing case used by his mother. It’s certainly an oldie, rejuvenated by colorful LEGO-brick construction, making it a sturdy build.

ideas homobrickus adventurebox 2

This Adventure Box could serve as a neat storage for LEGO minifigs and loose pieces. Homo Brickus even proposes options for customization. The lid covers at top could have changeable tile designs. Furthermore, those lids could serve as platforms for LEGO building. Thirdly, the dimensions of the Adventure Box allow for installing LEGO Light-bricks. What better way to check the contents with built-in lighting. We’ve said it before, but this is definitely a strong contender for passing review. Time will tell if we guessed correctly.

New LEGOLAND Windsor Attraction “The Brick” Opening Spring 2022

The battle to contain the COVID pandemic and its successor variant strains continues to this day. While that’s going on, the world also struggles to bring life back to a sense of circa-2019 normalcy. This may be seen in the world’s many major theme park destinations like LEGOLAND. No pandemic’s stopping Merlin Entertainments from building new LEGOLANDs like in China, or adding new attractions to existing LEGOLANDs. Case in point: LEGOLAND Windsor has been busy with a new addition, a brick-shaped building, right next to their Miniland. Brick Fanatics reports that the park has finally revealed their upcoming new attraction.

This spring of 2022, LEGOLAND Windsor is looking forward to introduce to their visitors: The Brick. This building, shaped like its name, apparently copies an attraction found at LEGO House in Billund: the Brick Pit. That means a facility filled with thousands upon thousands of LEGO bricks, inviting guests to come and build freely. “Let your imagination take the lead in your creativity and immerse yourself into a world of play.” So goes LEGOLAND Windsor’s promo blurb for The Brick. It certainly sounds like a fun place for families to build LEGO together, if the promo graphic is any indication.

LEGOLAND Windsor is already open to visitors, if filled with many safety regulations against the pandemic. It also means that guests to the park will primarily hail from within the UK for the moment. We wish them fortune and health safety for when The Brick opens in the spring 2022.

LEGO Star Wars The Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter (75325) Listed on Amazon UK

LEGO Star Wars has been on a renewed “The Mandalorian” tie-in bent lately. At least two sets we’re guaranteed to be getting by March 1. Those would be the Dark Trooper Assault (75324) and the titular Mandalorian Helmet (75328). The tie-ins to the Disney+ series and the newest Star Wars Helmet sets fall under consecutive set numbers. From Dark Trooper Assault there are two numbers before Luke Skywalker (Red Five) Helmet (75327). We know that LEGO Star Wars 75326 is Boba Fett’s Throne Room, as listed on Amazon Germany (briefly). What about set 75325? Amazon beats LEGO.com again via UK.

This news comes to us via German LEGO news source Promobricks. Feast your eyes on The Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter (75325) seen in “The Book of Boba Fett” on Disney+. It’ now listed on Amazon UK. This modified Naboo starfighter became Mandalorian antihero Din Djarin’s new ride after losing his Razor Crest freighter. The customized version features stronger laser cannons and a heavily stripped-down, nearly skeletal, frame for greater speed. Furthermore, a cockpit for Grogu replaces the astromech droid slot. We’re looking at spring-loaded shooters for both laser cannons and the torpedo launcher. We get of course a Din Djarin minifigure, alongside N-1 customizer Peli Motto. Grogu and Droid microfigures join the two.

Promobrick adds that the Mandalorian N-1 Starfighter (75325) contains 412 pieces and is priced at €69.99 in Europe. That would probably convert to perhaps $79.99 when LEGO.com US finally does a product listing; and they should, eventually. The set might launch in June this year. That release window may possibly be the same deal for Boba Fett’s Throne Room (75326).

LEGO Star Wars Boba Fett’s Throne Room (75326) Preview on Amazon Germany

Last week, the LEGO corner of social media exploded with news of an upcoming “Star Wars” set. It seemed that the insert sheet for “The Mandalorian” tie-in Dark Trooper Attack (75324) teased a follow-up. It was a build for the late Jabba the Hutt’s palace, under attack by iconic bounty hunter Boba Fett. This was the mind-blowing post-credits scene from the season 2 finale of “The Mandalorian” on Disney+. We felt that it may only be a matter of time before LEGO announced it fully. They haven’t got a product listing yet, but a major online marketplace has done so.

Brick Fanatics tells us that Amazon Germany now has a listing for LEGO Star Wars Boba Fett’s Throne Room (75326). Actually, we only have the product entry in the Amazon.de LEGO Star Wars directory, which opens to a preview. The product listing page itself isn’t up yet, but at least now we have a name to set 75326. Details on the preview give us the retail price of €80.12, which might translate to €79.99 on LEGO Europe. Amazon.de also gives us a date of February 15. We believe this is just when preorders on their platform for Boba Fett’s Throne Room will officially go live.

LEGO Star Wars set 75326 features Boba Fett and Fennec Shand taking over Jabba’s syndicate from Bib Fortuna. Other minifigures include Gamorrean and Weequy henchmen, a Theelin dancer, and Bib’s assistant Quarren. The palace set includes mechanics for flipping the minifigs, and a detachable throne. Hopefully a LEGO.com product entry won’t be far off now.

From the Rumor Mill: LEGO The Transformers Optimus Prime (10302) Arriving This Summer

Back in 2007, toy brand, Hasbro pulled off an epic franchise revival with a live-action film adaptation of “Transformers.” The battle between good and evil alien vehicle-transforming robots (with humans helping the good ones) was guaranteed blockbuster material. Several sequels later, however, the hype decayed somewhat. Then in 2018 Hasbro’s Allspark Pictures rebooted the “Transformers” cinematic timeline with “Bumblebee.” This redo restored critic confidence in the franchise, enough for a sequel to be green-lit. Pandemic-related issues among others pushed “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” to a 2023 release. But while fans wait, there might be some new kind of Transformers stuff along the pipeline, and this time around a brick-built version of the much venerated Autobot leader is rumored to arrive this summer in the form of LEGO The Transformers Optimus Prime 10302.

This is a most peculiar rumor brought to us by The Brick Fan. Apparently, Hasbro could be collaborating with LEGO to make some brick-built Transformers sets. Even better, the first set number for this alleged line will be for the most famous Transformer character of all. Yep, if this rumor checks out then we’ll be getting LEGO The Transformers Optimus Prime, number 10302. Rated age 18+, with 1,508 pieces and due to come out anywhere from May to August 2022. It checks out with the last premiere date for “Transformers: Rise of the Machines.” Paramount-Allspark marked it for this June, before pushing it to next year.

Why would a LEGO Optimus Prime be a hot sell for the older spectrum of LEGO collectors? In the first five live-action “Transformers” films, Optimus’ truck modes were massive sleeper cabs from Peterbilt and Western Star. “Bumblebee” and “Rise of the Beasts” see Optimus reverting to the cab-over truck design from the toy-line/the 1980s animated series. That’s even purer “Transformers” nostalgia power. Of course, that depends on this rumor being true. We’ll have to wait until LEGO tells us more.

In the meantime, be sure to get your LEGO Transformers fix with this awesome custom LEGO Devastator creation from Alex Jones. And while you’re at it, be sure to check with Build Better Bricks and see how you can create your own custom LEGO The Transformers Optimus Prime.

LEGO Ideas 10K Support: Sherlock Holmes – 221B Baker Street

There are so many ways to classify LEGO sets, and the same goes for the aspirants on LEGO Ideas. Take for instance the current review stage, First 2022. Subject-wise, we’ve got plenty of buildings, some vehicles, a few animals, and so on. Theme-wise, five of the submissions are contemporary/modern-day. Two are sci-fi, another two magical, etc. And of course we have the distinction of original creation and based on existing IPs. This latest product idea with 10K support falls on the latter. Furthermore, the said franchise is a classic, featuring the world’s (original) greatest detective.

ideas dreamnbricks 221bbakerstreet 1

We know, that last sentence was a total give-me. Anyway, LEGO Ideas member DreamnBricks got his build “Sherlock Holmes – 221B Baker Street” the 10,000 supporters needed for review. Quite obviously, it depicts the Victorian-era Baker Street, London townhouse where Sherlock Holmes resided in Arthur Conan Doyle’s works.

ideas dreamnbricks 221bbakerstreet 2

The building consists of three floors plus attic. Guests/clients were received in the ground-floor reception/library, which opens to the kitchen. Sherlock’s assistant Dr. Watson roomed in the second story. A fireplace where he and Holmes discussed cases is just outside his quarters. Further upstairs, Sherlock had his own bedroom, which opened to his private office and crime laboratory.

ideas dreamnbricks 221bbakerstreet 3

Also included in the build is an English carriage for Holmes and Watson, which features a fold-back roof. The two are joined in minifigure form by housekeeper Mrs. Hudson and Sherlock’s nemesis: Prof. Moriarty, Napoleon of Crime. Props dotted all over the townhouse refer to famous cases that Holmes has solved. Sherlock Holmes – 221B Baker Street might be a niche fandom set. But surely enough Holmesian LEGO collectors would be happy if DreamnBricks’ submission passes the First 2022 Review Stage.

BrickHeadz Spice Girls Tribute (40548) Now Listed on LEGO Shop

Well, we did say a LEGO product listing isn’t far when a set number/name appears on LEGO.com in some form. The average gap between something like a Building Instruction listing and actual product listing is about a day. The same goes for a social media tease perhaps. Anyway, eagle eyes observed a Building Instruction entry for BrickHeadz Spice Girls Tribute (40548). It even provided a teeny image of the five BrickHeadz figures in this set. We didn’t have to wait long for the full LEGO.com product listing. As Brickset puts it, that followed soon after.

Indeed, LEGO BrickHeadz Spice Girls Tribute (40548) contains all five members of the UK’s biggest girl group in brick-form. We get Emma, Mel B and C, Geri and Victoria in their most iconic performing outfits. This is truly a fitting tribute to one of the most influential shapers of mid-late 1990s pop culture. And it’s reasonably priced for a five-BrickHeadz package where a twofer BrickHeadz set might be worth $19.99. But don’t take just our word for it. Check out the images and product listing:

  • The Spice Girls, LEGO® BrickHeadz™ style – This buildable LEGO BrickHeadz Spice Girls Tribute (40548) brings Emma, Geri, Melanie C, Mel B and Victoria , in iconic costumes, to superfans’ bedrooms
  • Colorful display piece – This 578-piece LEGO® set for BrickHeadz™ fans aged 16 and up comes with step-by-step building instructions and includes baseplates for display

It’s too bad about the “Coming soon” tag. It could mean that this mega-set won’t release this March. But we can wait for it later this year.

Boba Fett Attacking Jabba’s Palace: LEGO Star Wars Set 75326 Leaked

“The Mandalorian” on Disney+ did something remarkable to its mother franchise, “Star Wars.” It revitalized the space opera saga at a time when the new Sequel movie trilogy was dividing the fandom. Regardless of what fans feel about Rey, Poe, Finn etc., the exploits of Mandalorian Din Djarin have been very enjoyable. His series also triggered the development of further “Star Wars” streaming spinoffs on Disney+. Among them is “The Book of Boba Fett,” which completes its first season this week. Anyway, “The Mandalorian” and its follow-ups have given LEGO more material for “Star Wars” sets, including this sneak preview.

As told by Promobricks, there’s a new LEGO Star Wars set to look out for later this year. An image of it was first sighted on social media, courtesy of Instagram user lego_flub_news. We have a build for Jabba the Hutt’s palace on Tatooine. Of course, we know Jabba’s been dead since “Return of the Jedi.” Rather, this palace build depicts the post-credits scene of “The Mandalorian” season 2’s finale. You remember how Boba Fett and his ally Fennec Shand storm the palace and kill its current boss, Bib Fortuna. Lego_flub_news apparently got the image from the instruction sheet of Dark Trooper Attack (75324), which sold early in some retailers.

Promobricks posits that this new LEGO Star Wars Mandalorian set is numbered 75326. It may officially launch in March 1 alongside Dark Trooper Attack (75324). With its seven minifigures and larger setting, the alleged SRP is around €99.99, which might remain in US$ pricing. This is yet another LEGO set news too substantiated to be relegated as rumor. Still, better to wait for LEGO to give any official details themselves.

Boeing 747 Cockpit by DarrenJones Joines LEGO Ideas First 2022 Review Stage

Vehicle builds are a popular submission on LEGO Ideas, in hope that reviewers approve them for official set-hood. If you’ve been following us on The Brick Show, you know how many product ideas get into the review stages. For the First 2022 we have several vehicle submissions already. They range from the real-life, to sci-fi, to even steampunk and magical. Still vehicles, like other LEGO build themes, can become tedious the more there are passing 10-K support for review. Somehow a product idea must do something to stand out. If you ask us, this submission by member DarrenJones does that.

ideas darrenjones 747cockpit 1

A new 10-K supported product idea is this Boeing 747 Cockpit. Like the name says, this is a recreation in scale of the original jumbo jet’s pilot cockpit. Contributor DarrenJones believes this build could make it as a LEGO Ideas set based on initial commentators. The setup makes good use of LEGO elements from the more advanced building systems.

ideas darrenjones 747cockpit 2

The result is a cutaway view of the 747 cockpit featuring the instrument panel and seats for pilot and copilot. The beauty part is in the amount of details DarrenJones put in the instrumentation, flight controls and even the seats themselves.

ideas darrenjones 747cockpit 3

Movable piloting yokes, control sticks and levers are just some of the technical features of this 747 Cockpit build. The instrument gauges and displays may not be 1:1 accurate, but they bring genuine sophistication to the setup. The seats are also movable. DarrenJones also adds a name plate that is flanked by male and female pilot minifigures.

ideas darrenjones 747cockpit 4

The creator sees some necessary alterations should the build be accepted as a LEGO Ideas set. But it must first survive the gauntlet of the First 2022 Review Stage, which isn’t over yet.

Apple Arcade’s “LEGO Brawls” Coming to Nintendo Switch

In terms of LEGO videogames, no title holds as much hype presently as “LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.” And that game isn’t coming out yet until April. It’s hard to blame fans, though. They’ve been waiting for this title for literal years, not helped by delays due to pandemic- and development-related issues. But there are other LEGO videogames outside “Skywalker Saga” and other titles from WB Interactive and Traveller’s Tales. For instances, we have mobile game apps like “LEGO Brawls” on the Apple Arcade service. Years after its 2019 premiere, “LEGO Brawls” is getting a surprise major console port.

Nintendo Life tells us that “LEGO Brawls,” made by RED Games for Apple Arcade, is coming to Nintendo Switch. The bombshell was dropped during the Nintendo Direct online presentation this past Wednesday, February 9. It was but a short segment in a series of upcoming Switch game announcements. Still, we learned enough to know that it’s due on Nintendo’s hybrid game system Switch Online this June 2022. You can check out the segment on “LEGO Brawls” itself on the Nintendo Direct 2022 video. For your convenience, we put the video start right when the game comes on towards the end.

We were quite surprised to see “LEGO Brawls” break out of the Apple Arcade exclusivity. Also eyebrow-raising is the fact that Nintendo got it for the Switch. Perhaps the gameplay and presentation of “Brawls” has some similarity to “Super Smash Brothers Ultimate.” Who knows? The Direct presentation also didn’t clarify if the game is free or must be purchased from Switch Online. We have lots of questions, but things should clear up as the Switch launch of “LEGO Brawls” nears.
