LEGO Ideas TRON: Legacy (21314) Designer Video Released

After the official reveal of the next LEGO Ideas set with the TRON: Legacy (21314), LEGO has now released some pretty neat info on the design process that the set went through. Originally submitted as a fan project by brothers Tom and Drew (known as BrickBrosUK over at the LEGO Ideas fan site), this newest LEGO Ideas set is based on Disney’s 2010 sequel, TRON: Legacy. The fan project’s design was later on polished by LEGO Ideas Designer Junya  Suzuki and Graphic Designer Mark Tranter.

The LEGO Ideas TRON: Legacy (21314) set comes with several new LEGO pieces such as the printed rims of the lightcycle, the new 2×2 printed identity discs, and the new minifigures of Sam, Quorra and Rinzler. What I like the most are the minifigs that goes with this set, especially its neon on black color scheme and the fine details of their printing. The set will be available in all LEGO Brand Stores and online starting March 31, and will retail for $34.99.

First Look At the LEGO The Incredibles Video Game Box Art

Last week, news broke out that Disney Pixar’s upcoming superhero sequel, The Incredibles 2, will be getting its very own LEGO video game when an ad featured on the pages of the building instructions for the LEGO Juniors tie-in sets hinted of its arrival. This time, several LEGO fan and gaming sites have reported a particular Amazon Canada listing that adds more credence to this once considered rumored story.

As of this writing, the said listing is now nowhere to be found on Amazon Canada’s website (perhaps it was posted a little too soon), but thankfully, we managed to save some of the images associated with its official box art.

lego the incredibles video game

The said listing reportedly mentions a June 15 release date for the video game, which also happens to be the film’s debut in US theaters and in other parts of the globe. Other than the fact this is definitely one exciting game to watch out for, what I find interesting about the above box art is the inclusion of Frozone’s minifigure version which I find really cool (pun intended). It will also be nice if we can have a bigfig version of Mr. Incredible apart from the standard version that we first have as part of the LEGO Disney CMF. We also have Violet with her new minifigure hair piece, Dash, and of course Baby Jack-Jack.

The LEGO Disney The Incredibles 2 will be available across all major gaming platform including the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. We might get an official announcement from Warner Bros Interactive anytime soon so we’ll place this under our radar.

Go Retro With These Custom LEGO Classic Marvel Cyclops and Wolverine Busts From Build Better Bricks

Following the release of Build Better Bricks’ most complete collection of custom LEGO Marvel character busts, Tyler and Sean added another Marvel character to B3’s ever growing roster that utilizes the fancy LEGO light brick. I guess the mention of the LEGO piece itself is already a giveaway on which Marvel character best suits this unique LEGO piece. Scott Summers aka Cyclops now has his very own custom brick-built LEGO bust thanks to the ingenious creativity of our B3 rock star designers.

Clyclops

Cyclops will not be the legendary X-Men character that he is if not for his iconic optic blasts, and what better way to render that than through the use of LEGO’s ruby red light bricks. The light bricks Tyler and Sean also managed to give Cyclops that classic Marvel comic book look through the impressive use of yellow and blue LEGO pieces. This custom LEGO Marvel Cyclops bust is made up of 334 parts and stands at 5.5 inches tall, and the instructions to build them is available for a low price of $5.

To double the fun of building your own custom LEGO Cyclops bust, B3 is throwing in a sweet deal that you may want to check out as well. Adding to that classic retro feel, B3 is currently running a promo where you can get to build not just Cyclops, but also his long-time frenemy, Wolverine, in one discounted bundle.

This version of Wolverine is also based on the classic Marvel comics where the virtually indestructible mutant in yellow spandex comes in his retro black and yellow mask and trademark cigar. The instructions to create this 275-piece build also retails for $5, however, B3 is offering the building instructions for both of these custom LEGO Cyclops and Wolverine busts for just $8 – a 20% slash off from their combined price. So if you want to relive those classic Marvel X-Men comics nostalgia in LEGO bricks, then better head over to BuildBetterBricks.com and take advantage of this offer.

Watch Tyler and Sean talk more about this promo in this hilarious B3 video.

Happy building!

The LEGO Star Wars DJ Minifigure (40298) Now Comes As A Freebie At LEGOLAND Billund Store

It looks like LEGOLAND Billund is in a role with its series of gifts with purchase (GWP) freebies. After the discovery of the LEGO Banana Guy House minifigure set, it looks like the LEGO Store in LEGOLAND Billund is sweetening its promos with the return of another collectible minifigure, this time from the Star Wars The Last Jedi theme. Previously thought to be a LEGO Store exclusive when first images of the LEGO Star Wars DJ minifigure (40298) found its way online, it was later on announced that it was a Toys R Us exclusive freebie, released between January 9 to 13, for every minimum purchase of any LEGO Star Wars set worth $30 and above.

40298 Prod

If you missed on DJ’s minifigure version as offered by TRU last January, and if you happen to be in Billund right now, then you may want to add some LEGO Star Wars sets on your purchase to get a hand on a free of LEGO Star Wars DJ minifig. Thanks once again to our friends over at Promobricks, we now know how to get a free version of this master codebreaker.

Again, please take note that this free minifig promotional is only found at the LEGO Store in LEGOLAND Billund, so better grab this chance if you happen to be there as you read this.

Now, if you really want to add DJ to your collection of LEGO Star Wars minifigures, the good news is you really don’t need to travel to Denmark. Amazon currently lists this collectible for around $13 in case you really want to catch this obscure code breaker.

Thanks again to Promobricks for the heads up.

LEGOLAND Billund Now Offers LEGO CMF Series 18

If you happen to be around to join in the celebration of LEGOLAND Billund’s 50th anniversary, or you know someone who is there right now, you may want to ask that person to pay a visit at the theme park’s LEGO Store and be one of the few to first have LEGO’s Collectible Minifigure Series 18. This latest CMF series is scheduled for a worldwide release on April 1 (and mind you, this is not an advanced April Fool’s day joke), and visitors of the Danish amusement park is in for treat for being the first buyers of this highly desired collectible minifigs.

Promobricks once again shared these first images of the pre-launch of the LEGO CMF Series 18 which is now put on public display and retail at LEGOLAND Billund.

As I’ve mentioned before regarding the series’ minifigure distribution, Series 18 actually comes with  16 minifigures + 1 chase minifig which is the Classic Policeman from 1978’s LEGO Classic Town Police Car (600-2). If you are a LEGO CMF completionist, then the only way to be assured of the Classic Policeman minifigure is to purchase an entire Series 18 box. The fact is, if you’re in Billund right now and from the looks of it, the park’s in-house LEGO Store has plenty of Series 18 boxes stockpiled for eager collectors.

As you can see from the above image, the entire LEGO CMF Series 18 box retails in LEGOLAND Billund for 1,797 DKK or roughly equivalent to $300 USD. Frankly, this is a higher amount due to current currency exchange, but it is somehow expected that each box will be sold around $200 to $220 once it makes it way on store shelves in the US on April 1, with each blind bag retailing for $3.99.

New Promotional LEGO Banana Guy House Set Spotted In LEGOLAND Billund

The original LEGOLAND in Billund, Denmark is also on a more festive mood this year, now that it is celebrating its 50th anniversary since it opened its gate to park goers on June 7, 1968. To highlight its golden year, LEGOLAND, Billund now offers a handful of novelties that seems to be exclusive to the theme park. One of them came in as a surprise, and may well be a sought after collectible. Spotted by Promobricks, we now have a first look at what looks like to be a variant of one of LEGO CMF Series 16’s sought after minifigure – the LEGO Banana Guy House Set.

Following the likes of the LEGO Seasonal Iconic Easter Minifigure (5005249) and the Chicken Suit Guy (5004468), it seems that LEGO is offering another boxed minifigure with a variant of Series 16’s Banana Suit Guy (71013). What I find interesting about this new collectible minifigure is that it offers a slightly different version of original Banana Guy, less the sunglasses and with a printed moustache. I really couldn’t figure it out from the image, but from the looks of it, it seems that it has a reversed colored scheme as compared to Series 16’s Banana Guy: the newer version’s torso looks like blue while its legs are green. The banana costume that it has is also missing the word ‘Banana’ as printed from the original version. The overall vibe of this new minifigure seems to suggest that our new Banana Guy is somewhat based on a tropical vacation island, complete with his beach sandals, boom box (similar to Cole’s minifigure accessory in the LEGO Ninjago Movie CMF line), and what looks like a tropical hut of sorts.

As the image have suggested, this new Banana Guy House set comes as a promotional exclusive for every purchase of 200 grams worth of LEGO pieces via the Pick a Brick wall. Though the promotional poster clearly states that it is an exclusive, I really hope that this new minifigure set will also reach international shores any time soon. I love the first iteration of the Series 16 Banana Guy, but I find this little dude cooler than the first one. Thanks again to Promobricks for sharing this piece of news.

Soon-to-Open LEGOLAND Discovery Centre in Birmingham, UK to Hold Competition to Select “Resident” Master Builder

LEGOLAND Discovery Centers are the “little brothers” of the big LEGOLAND theme parks. They are family attractions usually located wholly indoors within commercial complexes in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. Their smaller scale also highlights the prestige and responsibilities of one man in every LLDC: the “resident” Master Builder.

Now, one of LEGO’s soon-to-be opening LLDCs, the Discovery Centre in Birmingham, UK, will be holding a special one-off event to choose a dedicated and skilled LEGO enthusiast to be its first Master Builder. This is “The Brick Factor”, to be held this Saturday, March 24 just outside Debenhams.

Following initial applications, LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Birmingham has invited 40 finalists to compete for the title of Master Builder, with 20 scheduled for the morning (11 AM GMT) and the other 20 in the afternoon (before 3 PM). The contestants’ abilities will be professionally judged as they build their hearts out.

Among the panel of judges are Abraham and Guy from the reality competition “LEGO Masters” which aired on British TV network Channel 4. And the contestants will have every opportunity to impress them, since they’re all given no less than 90,000 various LEGO bricks and building elements to work with.

The winning contestant of “The Brick Factor” will be assigned as Master Builder of LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Birmingham once it officially opens in the summer. Like his fellows across all LLDCs around the world, his duties include building and maintaining the LEGO displays in the venue, along with giving free LEGO-building lessons to the Centre’s daily rush of child guests.

Amazon France Reveals Official Images of LEGO Star Wars – Solo BrickHeadz for Han and Chewbacca

LEGO totally has BrickHeadz on the brain, what with the numerous licensed franchises getting the BrickHeadz treatment. Off the tops of our heads, we have BrickHeadz for upcoming films like Avengers: Infinity War and Jurassic World: Lost Kingdom. And then we have rumored Back to the Future BrickHeadz among others.

Now we know of LEGO Star Wars BrickHeadz for the second anthology film Solo, about the past smuggling adventures of young Han Solo and friends. Thanks to Amazon France, we now have images for the boxes of two Solo BrickHeadz sets, one for Han and another for his partner-in-crime Chewbacca.

The listings on Amazon France don’t have a release date included yet, though the general assumption is that they will hit shelves online and in real life by next month. BrickHeadz sets usually retail for about $9.99, a sight cheaper than the €17,98 Prime listings for both on Amazon France.

41608 2 41608 1

Both the Han Solo (39) and Chewbacca (40) BrickHeadz sets look to be fairly basic and uncomplicated builds if the packaging details are any indication. Now let’s hope that this Solo branch of LEGO Star Wars will soon announce BrickHeadz for young Lando and new characters like Qi’ra and Beckett.
