LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Weekend Offers This March

For LEGO builders whose interests lie less with Star Wars and more with Marvel, the recent reveal of the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition (76105) was one of the greatest treats of the year. After all, it’s got the complexity of a Japanese mecha-model kit going for it.

As if that weren’t enough though, LEGO and Marvel are cooking up even bigger tie-in treats in anticipation for the April premiere of Avengers: Infinity War. Only for this coming weekend, March 3-4, any LEGO Marvel Super Heroes online purchases for $25 and above will entitle you to a free, exclusive art print from Marvel Comics illustrator, Ron Lim.

Look at that piece, an action illustration of the Iron Man Hulkbuster armor as seen from Avengers: Age of Ultron, rendered in full vibrant colors. But if you think that’s already awesome, the wait until you see this next offer exclusive for LEGO VIP members.

VIPs purchasing the Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition (76105) can rejoice as they receive along with that set, a limited-edition uncolored version (5005574) of the Hulkbuster art piece as seen above. The black-and-white version better emphasizes the stark (hah!) lines drawn by Marvel artist Ron Lim (and inking by Wayne Faucher). It’s a real treat for comic-book fans.

LEGO’s third weekend offer is a free LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Guardians’ Ship (30525) polybag, depicting the spaceship of the Guardians of the Galaxy. This comes with a minimum LEGO Marvel purchase of $75. LEGO VIP members buying the Hulkbuster (76105) this weekend can get all three freebies at once.

Remember, this is a weekend thing only, so go to Shop@Home from March 3-4 to avail of what you can. The offer’s also good at LEGO brand stores, but there’re apparently only limited stocks of the Hulkbuster (76105) and the bonus Marvel art prints unless you come early. Good hunting!

Toys ‘R’ Us Apparently Getting LEGO Friends Friendship Flower (30404) Polybag Soon.

LEGO Friends, the girls-centric LEGO line based on the life adventures of a cute circle of girl-friends, is on quite a roll this year. One need only look at the series of character minifigure Pods they’ve slated for release in March to see how much of the Friends theme has been pushed lately.

Among other LEGO Friends products that have recently been released, there was a limited-edition polybag made available such as the Friendship Flower (30404). It was available only on Shop@Home, and was taken down shortly after the 14th. But for collectors who may have missed it, you might be getting a second chance.

It would seem that the LEGO Friends Friendship Flower (30404) will soon become available at Toys ‘R’ Us stores in the US. This was discovered unexpectedly by Allen Tran of The Brick Fan, after he caught sight of a box package of the polybags mistakenly shipped to the store he was working at.

30404 alt1

The Friendship Flower (30404) is a small yet fairly intermediate-level build of a brick sunflower-like blossom in a slim purple pot with a heart logo. The petals are the most assembly intensive component, with petal pieces interlocking with stalks around a central stamen. It makes for a good tabletop décor.

No official word has yet come regarding when it will be available on Toys ‘R’ Us, but The Brick Fan lists its item number at the store as 564017, and priced at $3.99 per polybag. The set was revealed as early as last November.

LEGO Dimensions On Sale at 99 Cents Only Stores.

There must be a number of LEGO fans to this day who must still be sore about the end of LEGO Dimensions, the action-adventure “toys-to-life” game that brought together a wide variety of franchises licensed by LEGO. Its closure virtually meant the end of the era of the toys-to-life genre.

While some of the franchises that were depicted in LEGO Dimensions, like The Powerpuff Girls (and reportedly, Back to the Future) have been given new life with new LEGO sets, there are still some who would much like to get the old Dimensions expansion pack versions of these various franchises.

In this, the price-point retailer 99 Cents Only Stores has come to the rescue, sort of. Early last year, before LEGO put the kibosh on LEGO Dimensions, the chain had offered Dimensions Fun Packs and Team Packs in their stores. The game’s gone now, but 99COS is repeating its sale.

71349 alt1

By this time, a number of 99 Cents Only Stores will have started displaying what they have left of the LEGO Dimensions products. The Fun Packs and Team Packs will be available at their greatest price deals yet, costing only $1.99 per set. Apparently, Philippine LEGO Users Group member Renel Ebro managed to snap this image from his local 99COS.

99 cents

It should be noted that the cancellation of LEGO Dimensions didn’t mean the end of the game itself. There’s merely no more new content coming out and the design team’s only doing server maintenance and customer support. The tie-in toys-to-life LEGO expansion sets should still work with the game however.

As for what Dimensions packs would be available at 99COS, each individual store would have different inventories available, therefore what you might find in one branch may not be there in another. If you’re looking to get a specific pack then we hope you find it in your nearest store. You may use this store locator to check the nearest 99COS branch in your area.

Business Mag “Fast Company” Ranks LEGO at 6th of Its “Top 10 Innovative Consumer Electronics Companies”

Of all the technical-geared products that LEGO has rolled out over the years, it is the Boost line that’s been put at the forefront as of late. It started getting some new compatible sets after quite some time since its original launch, the latest being the LEGO Ninjago Stormbringer (70652).

Now, Boost has done The LEGO Group one great benefit. It has helped the company gain renewed prominence in business circles by being listed on the Top 10 Most Innovative Companies Consumer Electronics List by business publication Fast Company.  Of the ten companies in the list, LEGO ranked number 6.

As stated, Fast Company put LEGO on its innovative companies in consumer electronics due to the impressive potential of LEGO Boost, the combined mechanical and electronic programming system behind its initial Creative Toolbox (17101). Its most impressive feature was having users coding motion data for Boost builds via mobile app.

On its public statement announcing their ranking of LEGO in their Top Ten list, Fast Company noted how LEGO Boost, introduced back in 2017, was an electronic innovation that would “further bridge the divide between physical and digital play”. Further praise was given to the simplicity of Boost’s coding software.

Aside from LEGO Boost, Fast Company also gave credit to the toy giant’s family-oriented social network, LEGO Life, where children could share their brick-built creations with friends. The LEGO Group’s chief marketing officer Julia Goldin said in response to their listing that LEGO’s play experiences are geared for “future innovators”.

This is a spot of good news for LEGO in light of reports that some of its global markets like Germany have suffered a sales decline, portending a possible slow loss of appeal for its products in their traditional bulwarks. They’ve been expanding in new areas like China in response.

UK’s LEGOLAND Windsor Gets Brick Empire State Building in Miniland Area

It’s been some time since we last reported on the construction of a large outdoor structure built with LEGO bricks. These impressive projects have run the gamut from projects by private groups to honor The LEGO Group, to structures built by LEGO itself usually as a promotion for the company.

Now, LEGO is building a new brick structure. This one however will be serving as an official attraction for one of their theme parks, namely LEGOLAND Windsor Resort. And it’s also a scale brick replica of a real skyscraper building; that is New York City’s very own Empire State Building.

This LEGO Empire State Building will be one of the features to a new in-zone expansion of LEGOLAND Windsor Resort’s Miniland area. Said expansion is a mini-USA display of the usual iconic American landmarks. As seen in the photos, there’s a Golden Gate Bridge and possibly a Times Square building.

LegolandEmpireState 6 212x300 LegolandEmpireState 9 215x300

Said Empire State Building is made up of 71,040 LEGO bricks and stands at 4.4 meters tall. Small it may be in comparison to the LEGO tower built in Tel Aviv this early January,  but it still took LEGOLAND’s model making team some 700 hours to put it all together.

LegolandEmpireState 7 202x300

Other famous US structures that would be included in Miniland’s US expansion are the Statue of Liberty, Chicago’s Cloud Gate, a portion of the Route 66 highway and even Area 51. In addition, some other world buildings are being planned for replication like the Taj Mahal and Beijing’s Forbidden City.

Aside from the building work done at their Miniland zone, LEGOLAND Windsor will soon open LEGO Reef this year, a digital water environment where guests can assemble CGI LEGO fish and have them swim in the virtual waters. LEGO Unikitty Sets Confirmed – Five Rumored Sets Named.

Since LEGO’s confirmation of the upcoming, standalone LEGO Unikitty theme during the recently concluded New York Toy Fair, information was quick to surface on what these sets may actually be. The announcement about this next LEGO sets even came a day earlier when LEGO gave its official press release on what fans can expect before the New York Toy Fair began last Saturday. According to the announcement,

LEGO Unikitty!™, based on the famous unicorn cat princess from the Warner Bros. film, The LEGO Movie, now has her own animated series, Unikitty!™, produced by Warner Bros. Animation and currently airing on Cartoon Network featuring Princess Unikitty and her brother Prince Puppycorn™. Five new building sets and a series of collectibles launch in August, enabling kids to recreate favorite stories or imagine and build new ones.

DWP8YkUWsAIdqM8

In fact, Brick Show Brian gave an even earlier report regarding the set numbers of these five new LEGO Unikitty sets, though we still don’t have any information on their names or set image, or piece count. However, this time around, Brickset has updated its database once more to include the names of these five new LEGO Unkitty sets.

Cloud Car (41451) – £12.50

Puppycorn Trike (41452) – £12.50

Unikitty Party (41453) – £29.50

Dr. Fox’s Lab (41454) – £34.00

Unikitty Bucket (41455) – £39.00

Images of these sets were not shown during the NYTF, so we just have to wait until August when the sets are released. There is also a rumored Unikitty collectible minifigures series that will be released alongside these five LEGO sets. So, if you’re a fan of the titular unicorn feline, then you still have plenty of time to save up.

LEGO Marvel Superheroes The Guardians’ Ship (30525) Polybag Revealed.

Since the official unveiling of all six, incredibly exciting LEGO Marvel Superheroes Infinity War sets last week, it looks like LEGO is throwing a bonus set in the form of a polybag. Brickset’s database has been updated to include what looks like an actual image, found in the wild, of the polybag version of the newer Milano(?) as it is to be seen in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War film. The LEGO Marvel Superheroes The Guardians’ Ship (30525) polybag is a scaled-down version of the larger orange and gray ship as seen in the Thanos Ultimate Battle (76107) set.

30525 1

This polybag comes in at 69 pieces and is expected to arrive at Target stores on March 1. There is no mention of any price as of the moment, other than an eBay listing that sells them at $10. It is interesting to note that though it seems that this is the second polybag version of the iconic Milano, I couldn’t help but wonder why LEGO opted to call it as the Guardians’ Ship rather than referring to it directly by its name. In fact, our first polybag version of the Guardians’ preferred spacecraft is simply named as the Milano (30449) – coming in at 64 pieces. It makes me wonder: will the original Milano, as we last saw it from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, will be utterly replaced in Infinity War? Does it mean that the Milano will be meeting an untimely demise through the course of the film? Well, these are just my speculations, and all of these will be answered in due time when Avengers: Infinity Wars arrive in theaters on May 4.

LEGO Polybag Bargains Now in UK Sainsbury’s Supermarket Branches.

From Target, to Toys ‘R’ Us and many more, we’ve often taken note of and posted updates whenever a major retail chain holds an event or rolls out any promotion involving LEGO. Today we’re looking at the UK where their second-largest supermarket chain is offering LEGO polybags at bargain prices.

Polybags are about as affordable as you could get with LEGO products, but Sainsbury’s is taking it a step further by having some of their stores knock prices for the smallest packs all the way down to 90 pence. UK LEGO collectors couldn’t have a better time hunting for bargains.

It should be clarified, however, that the bargain-price LEGO polybags are only to be found in the Sainsbury’s supermarket stores, not the smaller convenience branches that have a different pricing. The 90p polybags can be identified by them being on clip strips hanging from shelf edges, not displayed on shelf-top.

LEGO Creator 30471 Helicopter 1

Needless, to say, the bargain polybags are simple those LEGO items that are almost out of stock with Sainsbury’s, and the available sets will depend on where the branch is located in the UK. Early shoppers report that the 90p polybags are mostly either LEGO Creator or LEGO City sets.
