ICYMI: Make Way for LEGO Super Mario The Mighty Bowser (71411)!

Hey, there brick fans! In case you missed it, LEGO has announced another super-sized set that will surely tickle the fancy of all Super Mario fans. The LEGO Super Mario The Mighty Bowser (71411) is the biggest LEGO rendition of the iconic Super Mario villain that comes in at almost 3,000 pieces. The nice thing about this set is that it is not just meant for display, but it also comes with a bunch of play features that are certainly designed to impress: movable head, mouth, and legs, launching fireball, and beautiful, intricate details.

At the start of this week, Disney+ and Lucasfilm dropped their first teaser for another LEGO Star Wars TV special. Given that the previous two specials focused on special occasions of the year, this one follows the theme. It won’t be surprising if this one makes for an excellent TV special trilogy concerning LEGO Star Wars. The initial teaser for LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation gave us an initial impression of the expected laughs. The Star Wars Twitter page also promised a much longer trailer later. Now we cover that too.

The Brick Fan tells us that, as promised, an official trailer for LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation dropped Tuesday. It replays some key scenes from the short teaser and adds more context to the plot. Long story short, the Star Wars sequel trilogy cast is going on vacation. They hope to celebrate not being hounded by either the Empire or First Order for that short time. Perhaps it’s good fortune that Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader are hitting the beach themselves? Finn, among the cast, is eager to catch that big break. Now if only Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Force ghost isn’t bugging him too, with the “Hello there” meme and all.

True to form, Lucasfilm got some Star Wars alumni to reprise their roles in animated LEGO form. One can easily recognize Anthony Daniels and Billy Dee Williams as C-3PO and Lando Calrissian in the trailer. “Summer Vacation” also stars Kelly Marie Tran, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Weird Al Yankovic, who also provides the theme song. Check out “LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation” when it premieres this coming August 5 on Disney+ streaming.

LEGO BrickHeadz FC Barcelona Go Brick Me (40542) Coming in August

The LEGO Con 2022 coverage is about to wind down, so let’s reveal the rest. The likes of Marvel and Minecraft ably represented licensed IPs. LEGO-original themes were neither slouch, with LEGO Collectible Minifigure Series 23 (71034) and two 90^th Anniversary revamps. If minifigs are too small a deal for you, why not go for something bigger and customizable? Leave that up to LEGO Con’s BrickHeadz set unveiling. Promobricks tells us that this LEGO BrickHeadz FC Barcelona is the latest LEGO collaboration with the titular football team.

After nearly two-thirds a year, since Camp Nou (10284) and its gift-with-purchase were launched, we get more FC Barcelona fun. This comes in the likes of the LEGO BrickHeadz FC Barcelona Go Brick Me (40542). As a Go Brick Me set, this BrickHeadz offers more customization options than its fellows. LEGO fans who follow Barcelona can try to recreate their favorite club members or imagine themselves on the team. Multiple piece options for skin and hair color (or no hair) make this possible. The set even includes number sticker sheets to recreate your jersey number of choice.

LEGO Con ’22 Poll for New “Minecraft” Minifig in 2023 Started

Never has a separate videogame franchise perhaps been so perfect a fit with LEGO than “Minecraft”. It started with a LEGO Ideas set, then it expanded into a full theme line. We’ve already gotten several new LEGO Minecraft sets this year, with more coming still. And the synergy goes both ways. Last year during the first LEGO Con, a poll was initiated for a new “Minecraft” character skin minifigure. From a choice between warrior, ranger, and ninja, a ninja minifig was voted, joining “Minecraft” sets this year. And this past LEGO Con 2022, another online poll for a new “Minecraft” character skin has just begun.

As told by Brickset, there will be a new “Minecraft” minifig character skin coming to the theme next year. Like before, it’ll be decided by an online poll on social media. Just after LEGO Con, the vote was started on LEGO’s official Twitter page. Where the 2021 poll for the 2022 skin offered three diverse options, this year we only have “knight” variants to choose from. Would you like a Classic Knight, Crystal Knight, or Prismarine Knight to be featured in LEGO Minecraft sets of 2023? You have until June 24 to make your choice.

Another LEGO Con 2022 Showcase: LEGO Avatar Toruk Makto and Tree of Souls (75574)

We can undoubtedly thank LEGO Con 2022 for putting images to the sets they’ve been teasing for some time. Many of the reveals we’ve covered are things LEGO’s done before. This one’s all-new regarding licensed IPs getting the LEGO treatment. To think that the rumored “Coconut” project would be tie-in sets for James Cameron’s Avatar franchise. The sequel to the 2009 film, Avatar: The Way of Water is coming this holiday season. It’s fair, perhaps, that the inaugural LEGO Avatar Toruk Makto and Tree of Souls (75574) set came out months before that, as reported by Stone Wars.

The LEGO Avatar Toruk Makto and Tree of Souls (75574) is a visually impressive brick-rendition from 20^th Century Studios’ Avatar sequel. It depicts a key location on the alien planet Pandora, the Tree of Souls revered by the people of the Na’vi. Also present are Sully, the human in a Na’vi avatar body, his love interest Neytiri and Sully’s Toruk flying beast. The set offers a nice contrast between the decorative Tree of Souls and the poseable Toruk mount. The LEGO Avatar Toruk Makto and Tree of Souls (75574) will officially launch on October 1, although collectors can preorder it now at LEGO.com.

LEGO Con 2022: LEGO CMF Series 23 (71034) Coming in September

We’re still on that LEGO Con 2022 reveal review. We’ve already looked at several major set releases from last weekend. Perhaps it’s time we spotlighted the small stuff: multiple, little-humanoid small stuff. Indeed, LEGO Con also unveiled the latest batch of collectible minifigures. They’re all-original LEGO characters following the May launch of The Muppets (71033). As confirmed by The Brick Fan, minifigure collectors can look forward to LEGO CMF Series 23 (71034) months from now. Like other batches, this series consists of 12 minifigures. And as usual with LEGO’s CMF Series, these minifigs are far out.

Looking at the official product listing on LEGO.com, you’ll find only 3 of the 12 minifigures revealed. Luckily the LEGO Con page features the fully-visible ensemble of Collectible Minifigures Series 23 (71034). LEGO’s giving us their quirkiest minifig ensemble, from robot girls to turkey costumes to nutcrackers and sugar-plum fairies. Expect these little guys to be available in their polybags (usual price) starting in December.

LEGO Marvel Doctor Strange Sanctum Sanctorum (76218) Seen at LEGO Con 2022

You know the drill. Many LEGO sets teased over the past weeks and months finally appeared in LEGO Con 2022. Now all collectors have to do is wait out the remaining days until their official release. One of the biggest expected launches is definitely for LEGO Marvel. Indeed, the LEGO Marvel Doctor Strange Sanctum Sanctorum set of old (76108) has been given a massive makeover. This new set, numbered 76218, will arrive in the wake of MCU film “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”. True, the movie came out back in May. But the title’s in the box so that’s that.

Anyway, Promobricks tells us that like other LEGO Con reveals, the new Sanctum Sanctorum set (76218) is coming this August. This definitely is multitudes more awesome than the original 2018 version. Key characters from “Multiverse of Madness” are joined by other MCU regulars in this epic building/battle set. Our Doctor Strange must team up with Wong, Iron Man and Spider-Man against multiple threats to the Sanctum. Several alternates of Strange are just the tip of the iceberg. Mordo, Ebony Maw and a now-villainous Scarlet Witch will really make our heroes work for victory. And with that, here’s the product info:
