Rumor of 9 New LEGO Technic Sets Coming Next Year

LEGO Technic is advertised by LEGO as the line that can teach children in construction of complex devices. Their specialized building pieces are thus the go-to for producing complicated LEGO-built vehicles. Whether for pleasure, sport, or work, vehicle sets from the LEGO Technic theme are beautiful art pieces one and all. Owning to the technical nature of their builds, Technic set releases in a year are not really numerous. Fans of the line however will wait excitedly for what LEGO brings out next. Thus, this rumor from a social media post will pique their curiosity.

According to LEGO speed-builder and news hound bricksmelody, at least nine LEGO Technic sets are coming in 2022. In an Instagram post, bricksmelody enumerated the rumored Technic products with their set numbers, piece-numbers and possible prices. The sets range from younger-age vehicles with pull-back function to potentially massive construction equipment. One set is supposedly licensed to a real-life heavy-vehicle manufacturer. Two sets have no names. Here’s the Instagram entry in question, with our own enumeration.

  1. Monster Truck (42132) – 139 pieces, $9.99
  2. Compact Excavator (42133) – 203 pieces, $14.99
  3. Pull-back Hot Rod (42134) – 266 pieces, $19.99
  4. Pull-back Go-Kart (42135) – 268 pieces, $19.99
  5. Racing Water Scooter (42136) – 467 pieces, $29.99
  6. Backhoe Loader (42137) – 893 pieces, $59.99
  7. [To be determined] (42138) – 726 pieces, $69.99
  8. [Licensed] Tractor (42139) – 1,286 pieces, $119.99
  9. [To be determined] w/ Control+ (42140) – 398 pieces, $129.99

You know what comes next. The above information is a rumor at the moment, and we’ll have to wait until LEGO itself breaks any news. Still, new Technic sets are nothing to sneeze at. Some of them have wowed us before, especially the Technic-cars that get life-sized reproductions using actual Technic pieces. Let’s look forward to what the line comes up with next, no matter how long the wait is.

Check Out This List of Retiring LEGO Sets For H1 2021

As LEGO began to roll out its wave of new sets this 2nd half of 2021, it is also expected that the company will begin clearing out from its shelves (both from its physical stores and online) several of its previous sets that are expected to reach its end of life very soon. Retiring LEGO sets are almost always of particular interest to the LEGO fan community, considering that most of us still have that one set that we are looking forward to ticking out from our LEGO must-have bucket list. And recently, Stone Wars have released a very comprehensive list of all the retiring LEGO sets that are expected to quietly exit or may have exited already, from LEGO stores and online, during the 1st half of this year.

The list of these retiring LEGO sets for H1 2021 is presented here.  In case you’re interested, you may click on the following LEGO Shop@Home affiliate links below to check out their current availability. Some of these sets may be temporarily out of stock or tagged as already sold out as I’ve checked a while ago as of this posting. Nevertheless, it is still helpful to check if your expected LEGO set is still included in this listing.

Just a disclaimer though – like previously retired LEGO sets, this list is not 100% accurate considering how fast these retiring LEGO sets might sell out. So I encourage you to do a quick search over at LEGO Shop@Home. A huge thanks to Stone Wars once again for sharing and verifying this list.

LEGO Technic Ferrari 488 GTE “AF Corse #51” (42125) Speed Its Way on a Real Race Track

LEGO goes to great lengths to set another milestone with its line of LEGO Technic sets. From creating a life-sized, brick-built Lamborghini Sián, to a driveable LEGO Technic Bugatti Chiron, LEGO is pushing another first with a never-before-tried stunt with its LEGO Technic Ferrari 488 GTE “AF Corse #51” (42125).

Released earlier this year, the LEGO Technic Ferrari 488 GTE now had the honor and opportunity of speeding through the famous Modena circuit in Italy. Now just to be clear, the set did not actually race on the track autonomously but was mounted in front of a real Ferrari 488 GTE race car, driven by Ferrari Competizioni GT Official Driver Giancarlo Fisichella.

Launching at full speed, it was impressive to see that the Ferrari 488 GTE’s brick counterpart didn’t buckle at the sheer force of the speed that it is traveling at 208 kph. To give LEGO fans a unique perspective of this accomplishment, this attempt was documented using 8 cameras and 2 drones giving us a unique racing perspective coming from different angles. LEGO promises to share this video soon, so I’m quite excited to see how it turned out.

WATCH: LEGO Builds Life-Sized LEGO Technic Lamborghini Sián FKP 37

If building two life-sized, brick-built models of some of the most venerable supercars in the world is not enough, then perhaps building another one will be very much welcomed. Following the tracks of 2019’s McLaren’s Senna and 2018’s Bugatti’s Chiron, now comes another LEGO masterpiece in the form of this 1:1 LEGO Technic Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 made out of LEGO Technic pieces.

Requiring more than 400,000 LEGO Technic pieces to build, this replica of the latest supercar from Lamborghini weighed in at 2.2 tons and required 8,660 hours of production and development hours. Here’s a quick fact sheet on what was required to create this jaw-dropping brick spectacle.

LEGO Technic Lamborghini Sián FKP 37

LEGO Technic Lamborghini Sián FKP 37

Similar to its predecessors, this life-sized model also celebrates the release of its much smaller cousin, albeit on a much grander scale, the LEGO Technic Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 (42115) from last year. For the life-sized model, over 154 different types of LEGO elements were required to give the model its futuristic elegance and unmistakable silhouette and details.

Lena Dixen, Senior Vice President of Product and Marketing at the LEGO Group said:

“Our designers love a challenge, so you can imagine their delight when we tasked them to think slightly larger than normal with this model. They jumped at the chance of teaming up with our amazing designers and engineers from our model production workshop at the Kladno factory in the Czech Republic who build these impressive life-size models and really pushing the boundaries of what can be done with LEGO Technic. The creativity that the system allows meant it was possible to really do justice to the exceptional design of the Lamborghini Sián FKP 37.”

Unlike the Chiron and Senna, this life-sized LEGO Technic Lamborghini Sián will most likely not hit the road for a tour and exhibit because of the pandemic. But thankfully, LEGO offers us a virtual behind-the-scenes look at how this brick masterpiece was developed, and you may also read the LEGO Group’s official press release for more information.

The 1:8 LEGO Technic Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 (42115) is now available at LEGO Shop@Home retailing for $379.99

More Details on What to Expect From LEGO CON 2021

LEGO is all set to launch its first-ever online fan convention dubbed as LEGO CON. And after an initial teaser last week, LEGO is slowly building the hype by giving us a glimpse of the many things to expect once the virtual convention commences on June 26.

LEGO’s tweet hints at the various set announcements that are about to happen on LEGO CON. The most noticeable of this is understandably coming from the LEGO Star Wars front. I feel that it may lean towards the reveal of the LEGO Star Wars UCS Republic Gunship, which was ultimately selected by most fans during the LEGO Ideas Fan Vote back from February last year. There will also be a detailed presentation on the latest LEGO Super Mario sets for the 2nd half of the year, including the new Adventures With Luigi Starter Course (71387) and a host of others.  I’m not really sure what LEGO has in mind with its LEGO Technic and Harry Potter presentations, but my best guess is that it might include possible building activities (competition perhaps) involving some of the new sets under these themes. Newer LEGO City sets will also be placed under the spotlight, especially since LEGO has invited an astronaut to grace the occasion. And those fans who will be watching online will also have the chance to participate in a live Q&A with designers of the LEGO Minecraft theme, and with Mojang’s Chief Brand Officer, Ms. Lydia Winters.

We can also be sure that LEGO has plenty of surprises in store during that 90-minute presentation. This includes the promise of more exclusive set reveals and other amazing guests. I’m still dwelling on the thought that the LEGO CON’s 2×2 brick logo may still have a connection to any sets, or activities that will be featured during the free, live online event. So be sure to mark June 26 on your calendars, and check your corresponding local time. For more updates, visit and bookmark the LEGO CON website.

Two LEGO Technic Summer 2021 Sets Arriving in August

LEGO Consults the Fan Community For Their Next LEGO Technic Set

The LEGO Group is once again tapping the LEGO fan community for inputs, and this time, for its next LEGO Technic set. Releasing it through an online survey form, LEGO is now asking the help of fans to pinpoint the next big thing in LEGO Technic.

Asking for feedback from the LEGO community is not actually new for LEGO. The LEGO Ideas platform, for example, is a great way of gauging the types of sets that customers may want in the future. However, this is one of those occasions where LEGO directly asks customers what they actually want, and in particular, with regards to what’s next in the LEGO Technic theme.

There are 11 simple questions to answer, asking fans for what particular IP brand would they like to see translated into LEGO Technic, the types of vehicles they wish to see rendered in LEGO Technic, reasons for buying LEGO Technic sets, and if adding Control+ functions will make fans more likely to buy these sets. Fans are also encouraged to share what kind of future technologies they wish to be added into LEGO Technic sets.

The survey will probably take around 5 minutes to complete, so if you can spare a few minutes, you may proceed with the survey right here. This survey link will be available until March 7 so I hope you can find time to fill it in until then. I just hope that LEGO will also find time to release its survey results. It will be interesting to see what other LEGO fans have in mind regarding future LEGO Technic sets.
