Add More Fun to Your Builds With This Pair of LEGO Xtra Tape Accessories

Some LEGO fan websites spotted this piece of news several days ago, and I find it interesting to take note of them here on our blog site. LEGO Shop@Home in Europe has updated their listing to now include a pair of LEGO Xtra Tape accessories to jazz up your LEGO City builds.

The LEGO Xtra Tape may seem to be too simplistic (well, after all, it’s tape) – but looking at how it is functioned to provide texture to any builds, plus the additional LEGO pieces that go with them, I wouldn’t mind purchasing them for $7.99. Each of these LEGO Xtra Tape accessories measures at 15 meters in length, and comes in two variants: the Road Tape (854048) and the Water Tape (854065), both of which come with a few LEGO decorative pieces that can accentuate your next LEGO City build or underwater adventure.

These accessories are not yet available at LEGO Shop@Home in the US as of this posting, but we can expect this to go live starting June 1 together alongside upcoming LEGO summer 2020 sets such as those from the LEGO Friends, Marvel, and Brick Sketches themes to name a few.

Read on for the product descriptions of these LEGO Xtra Tape accessories to know more about these offerings.

LEGO Technic Lamborghini Sián (42115) Reveal Coming Soon

Earlier this year, LEGO has announced its first-ever collaboration with the Lamborghini company to offer the first LEGO Technic set centered on its latest flagship product. After several teasers on its social media sites, there’s strong reason to believe that this next big reveal will be the LEGO Technic Lamborghini Sián (42115).

According to LEGO’s latest tweet, the full reveal of this set will happen tomorrow on May 28.

Following the tradition of other LEGO partnerships with world-class automotive companies such as Porsche and Bugatti, LEGO has now teamed up with Automobili Lamborghini to create a brick-rendition of the latter’s Sián FKP 37. The Sián is the company’s first hybrid super sports car powered by a V12 engine, and running on hybrid technology using supercapacitors.

The inspiration behind LEGO’s latest flagship Technic set is the super sports car Lamborghini Sián

If you will look closely at LEGO’s most recent tweet, the headlights of its upcoming flagship LEGO Technic set bears a very close resemblance to that of the Lamborghini Sián. Its sides also match that of the super sportscar which comes in an olive-green color theme. As such, the LEGO Technic Lamborghini Sián (42115) is the third set in the line of the LEGO Technic Ultimate Series following the Porsche 911 GT3 RS (42056) in 2016 and Bugatti Chiron (42083) in 2018.

Here’s what Niels Henrik Horsted, LEGO Technic Marketing Director, has to say about this new partnership with Automobili Lamborghini:

“Following the success of the former Ultimate models, both the Porsche and the Bugatti, it was crucial for us to find a new partner with an iconic vehicle, an unmistakable design DNA and ground breaking use of technology.”

Lamborghini Sián (42115)

The LEGO Technic Lamborghini Sián will be available in LEGO brand stores and at LEGO Shop@Home starting June 1, 2020, with the grand unveiling to be done tomorrow. Be sure to keep tabs with LEGO’s official web and social media channels to catch this big reveal, or you may bookmark our blogsite to keep you notified.

Latest LEGO Vehicles Featured in the LEGO Store June 2020 Store Calendar

The LEGO Store June 2020 Store Calendar is now out, underscoring its latest line of brick-built vehicles including an attractive gift-with-purchase (GWP) set. Though it will take a lot of getting used to with regards to the many in-store activities that are effectively canceled in LEGO brand stores no thanks to our current pandemic, the LEGO Group has slowly adapted to the new normal by gradually opening its stores in the US. With that in mind, let’s take a quick look at what next month’s LEGO Store promotional calendar has to offer.

First off, we have some of LEGO’s most recent brick-built vehicle collection, including two of its larger sets that debuted this year: the LEGO Creator Expert Fiat 500 (10271) and the handsomely crafted LEGO Technic Dom’s Dodge Charger (42111) that took inspiration from the Fast & Furious films. Released earlier this year, we also have one of the first 8-stud wide LEGO Speed Champions sets in the form of the Ferrari F8 Tributo (76895) set. These sets and much more are all available at LEGO Shop@Home if you want to take a look.

Similar to this month’s freebie in the form of the LEGO City Beach Buggy (30369), we now have another GWP ride that fans will appreciate. The LEGO Creator Hot Rod (40409) will be yours for free for a minimum single-receipt purchase of LEGO products worth $85 and above. The qualifying purchase needed to bag this freebie is a bit higher as compared to other promotional items this year, but being a scaled model of its predecessor, the LEGO Model Team Blue Fury (5541) from the mid-90s (re-issued in 2004 as set 10151), plus coming in with two minifigures, then I guess I will not mind the qualifying purchase. The LEGO Creator Hot Rod (40409) is valued at $13, so having it as a freebie is a welcomed deal in itself. Be sure to check with your local LEGO store or over at LEGO Shop@Home starting June 1 for this freebie’s availability since this can quickly fly off the shelves. If you wish to see more of this collectible set, then I suggest that you check out The Brothers Brick’s extensive review.

LEGO Store June 2020

As I mentioned earlier, in-store activities are still restricted in all LEGO Stores, so the usual Build-and-Take and designer signing events are effectively canceled. Most LEGO stores are only allowing curbside pickups as of to date as part of LEGO’s compliance towards physical distancing guidelines. I guess its part of the so-called new normal so, we have to eventually adapt to these new systems that are slowly taking shape.

Nevertheless, the month of June has a lot to offer other than the abovementioned sets mentioned in the LEGO Store June 2020 calendar. We have a nice collection of LEGO Friends summer 2020 sets, new LEGO Marvel sets, a new Brick Sketches theme, and even the first-ever LEGO Technic Lamborghini set all slated to arrive next month. These and much more are enough good reasons to keep on building.

Stay home and stay safe everyone!

LEGO Education Sets Now Available at LEGO Shop@Home

LEGO has now made it possible to make learning more fun at home. While many families are gradually adapting to the new normal, and even with more parents embracing the idea of homeschooling, LEGO has now included at LEGO Shop@Home, for the first time ever, their line of LEGO Education sets that were previously offered exclusively to schools and other learning institutions.

These LEGO Education sets include the WeDo 2.0 core products, and even the SPIKE Prime set that was introduced earlier this year. The price tag on these sets is a bit hefty considering that they include electronic components that are unique to this theme. Children as young as Pre-K can benefit from this STEAM-inspired LEGO learning kits, helping them grasp the rudiments of computer programming and robotics.

The LEGO Education sets are now available – just click on the following affiliate links below if you wish to know more about them. Be sure to visit the LEGO Education website for more resources on how you can get the most out of these sets.

A Look at the LEGO Marvel Iron Man Helmet (76165)

The LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Summer 2020 sets have been officially revealed, and one particular set that caught my AFOL’s eye is the LEGO Marvel Iron Man Helmet (76165). The announcement of this set is a welcomed surprise actually, and a fitting tribute to one of the pillars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Thanks to the Laughing Place, we now have a better look at what to expect from the upcoming LEGO Marvel Iron Man Helmet (76165) and what it means to the trend of buildable display helmets later in the future. To be accurate, we only have a couple of images for this set as of today, so I do hope to see its respective listing at LEGO Shop@Home anytime soon.

LEGO Marvel Iron Man Helmet

From the get-go, LEGO intends to give this set its 18+ branding making it clear that this set is intended for AFOLs or adult fans of LEGO as a buildable display set. True to their word, the LEGO Marvel Iron Man Helmet (76165) follows the same aesthetics as that of the LEGO Star Wars Helmet Collection such as the TIE Fighter Pilot Helmet (75274), Stormtrooper Helmet (75276) and Boba Fett Helmet (75277). At 480 pieces, this brick rendition of Tony Stark’s helmet also comes in a similar scale as compared to its Star Wars counterpart.  LEGO also seems to be aiming for a uniform display base for all of its collectible helmets, including a standard nameplate for all of them.

LEGO Marvel Iron Man Helmet

The box art of the Iron Man Helmet also follows the same design as its predecessors, with the 18+ logo prominently displayed in front. LEGO intends this brick sculpture to be more of a display set that appeals to older LEGO collectors. The Avengers logo is also included in front adding an MCU vibe into it – a fitting tribute to a fallen hero that we all cried for during his final heroic moments in Avengers: Endgame. Among the helmet series, this one definitely has a reserved spot in my collection.

The LEGO Marvel Iron Man Helmet is expected to arrive in Target stores on June 1, though we can also expect it to be available by then at LEGO stores both online and in-store since there was no mention that it is a store exclusive.

So what do you think of this latest addition to the LEGO helmet series? Will you give this a thumbs up? Do you have other licensed characters in mind that are fitting to be given the LEGO helmet treatment? Let me know what you think in the comments below.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Summer 2020 Lineup Officially Announced

Earlier today, Yahoo has just announced the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes summer 2020 lineup of sets that pays tribute to the Earth’s mightiest heroes. It’s been more than a year since we saw the conclusion of MCU’s Phase 4 in Avengers: Endgame and this time around LEGO is throwing another batch of sets that relive those action-packed moments. Same as before, they may not accurately reflect those particular MCU scenes, but LEGO’s brick renditions are still to be desired. And to top it off, this summer 2020 series now gives our first brick-built Iron Man Bust in tribute to the legacy of Tony Stark.

While two of these are now listed at LEGO Shop@Home, the remaining LEGO Marvel Super Heroes summer 2020 sets, including the Iron Man Bust, are still to be included. You may want to click on the following links below if you wish to add them to your LEGO wishlist. Yahoo also mentions a Target release date of June, so we’ll have to see if these sets will also be available at LEGO stores by then. Check out these images courtesy of Yahoo and the Laughing Place.

New LEGO Brick Sketches Theme Revealed – Arriving June 1st

Here’s another surprise from LEGO. Brickset has just revealed that LEGO will be releasing a new LEGO Brick Sketches theme, with four licensed sets – from Star Wars and DC Comics in particular – included in its initial roster.

If you find the LEGO Brick Sketches familiar, that’s because the designer for these sets is none other than ace MOC builder Chris McVeigh. The idea of having a brick-built sketch or drawing was in Chris’ thoughts since 2016, and if you’ll check his Flickr account, you’ll see some of his initial brick sketches mostly focusing on Star Wars characters. I’m glad to see that his work is now recognized by LEGO since he became part of the elite LEGO Design Team more than a year ago. You may also want to check his website where he offers the building instructions for some of his original creations for free.

LEGO Brick Sketches sets are yet to be listed at LEGO Shop@Home, but Huw from Brickset mentions that we can expect them to be available beginning June 1. For a closer look at what these sets offer (which I believe will be more appealing to AFOLs), you may want to check Brickset’s extensive review of the LEGO Brick Sketches The Joker (40428). In the meantime, you may want to take a look at their respective box arts below courtesy of Brickset.

New LEGO Super Mario Power-Up Packs Announced

After an online retailer listed possible LEGO outfits for LEGO Super Mario, LEGO has now released the official names of these LEGO Super Mario Power-Up Packs, and what to expect from them.

Slated to be released on August 1, these Power-Up Packs consist of four customizable outfits for the LEGO Super Mario figure included in the Starter Course (71360). Slipping them on the figure will unlock new features and other coin-collecting skills. These Power-Up Packs include several pieces for the suits that activate these new features mentioned. I expect these to be like new sound effects and on-screen behaviors as seen from the video reveal below.

I was hoping that the Flying Mario outfit will be based on his classic raccoon suit, but I guess having the Propeller Mario from the New Super Mario Bros Wii also turned out to be nice. Check out the following images below, and other details from LEGO regarding this new series of LEGO Super Mario Power-Up packs. Each of these expansion sets will be available starting August 1, with a retail price of $9.99. They’re not listed yet at LEGO Shop@Home, and I’ll update this page once they’re available.

FIRST LEGO League RePLAY 2020-2021 Set To Launch in August

LEGO Education and FIRST have unveiled the theme for this year’s FIRST LEGO League competition. The FIRST LEGO League RePLAY 2020-2021 is set to launch this August, with registration now open for interested contestants.

For those of you unfamiliar with this international competition, the FIRST LEGO League is an annual worldwide gathering of young scientific innovators from elementary to high school levels, thanks to the collaborative effort between LEGO Group’s Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen and FIRST Founder Dean Kamen. This collaborative endeavor aims to have the participants compete in basic research to solve a particular worldwide problem and propose a real-world solution using technology, innovation, and of course LEGO bricks.

For this new season, FIRST LEGO League has introduced some changes to cover a broader range of young builders and budding tech enthusiasts. It has now introduced a simplified program structure with three divisions: Challenge (ages 9-14), Explore (ages 6-10), and Discover (ages 4-6). While the branding will change, the program’s impact and experience are expected to remain the same. Through this new setup, it is expected that this year’s season will reach nearly 500,000 children, ages 4 to 16, coming from more than a hundred countries.

Check out the infographic below for a closer look at each division.

FIRST LEGO League

This year’s theme entitled GAME CHANGERS is inspired by Disney and Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: Force for Change that aims to develop a generation of real-world problem solvers and innovators. Here’s a sneak peek at what to expect from this year’s season.

For this FIRST LEGO League challenges, students will be tasked with completing a challenge designed in partnership with a panel of experts using a variety of LEGO Education products, including LEGO Education WeDo 2.0, LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3, and the newest LEGO Education SPIKE Prime and SPIKE Prime Expansion set. These LEGO Education sets will be used to solve several challenges and specific obstacles as you can see from the Challenge Mat below. Additionally, for the first time ever, these LEGO Education sets are now available for purchase at LEGO Shop@Home in case you or your team is planning to join.

Other than the FIRST LEGO League, this year’s RePLAY 2020-2021 season also includes the FIRST Tech Challenge and the FIRST Robotics Competition both of which offer a more advanced training platform that includes coding, programming using Java, and basic engineering.

Again if your team or school is interested to join, be sure to register online and select that program that best suits you.
