Building Instructions for the LEGO Easter Egg (40371) Now Available

The LEGO Trains 40th Anniversary gift-with-purchase promo is still up, and while we’re still far from this month’s next LEGO Store promotional freebie, LEGO is kind enough to release the building instructions for the LEGO Easter Egg (40371) ahead of its release later this March 23.

LEGO Easter Egg (40371)

If you recall, this limited edition LEGO Easter Egg (40371) is our next gift-with-purchase set slated to be offered from March 23 until April 13 as featured in the March 2020 LEGO Store Calendar. Coming in at 239 pieces, this set features a customizable egg that houses a small, brick-built chick. What is great about this freebie is that it comes with plenty of small, decorative pieces that are usually found in the new LEGO DOTS sets. Additionally, it features a modular design that allows you to have a small storage compartment to house these pieces and another for the brick-built chick. This new LEGO Easter Egg will be added to your cart (both in-store and online at LEGO Shop@Home) if your next LEGO purchase reaches a $50 and above price point during the abovementioned promo period.

While waiting for this set, you may want to give it a try and see if you can build your own LEGO Easter Egg since the set’s building instructions are now available online via LEGO’s customer service. Since it is a highly customizable set, I expect this to have plenty of room to allow you to personalize this set with your own choice of color scheme and design. You may get the building instructions in PDF format right here. Check out the parts list below and see if you have these in your own LEGO collection. I don’t see any rare parts included in them so you can easily swap these with ones with any colors that you have.

Be sure to check back with your local LEGO store starting this last week of March for this limited edition freebie.

LEGO Trains 40th Anniversary (40370) Gift-With-Purchase Set Now Available

The first LEGO Store promotional for the month of March is already out, and this is something that most of us are looking forward to. LEGO Shop@Home has been updated to now include the commemorative LEGO Trains 40th Anniversary (40370) gift-with-purchase (GWP) set, and will also be available to fans who will opt to make their next LEGO purchases in-store.

LEGO Trains 40th Anniversary (40370)

The LEGO Trains 40th Anniversary (40370) set comes in at 188 pieces including a minifigure train attendant. It is a sort of a throwback to 1980’s LEGO Push-Along Steam Engine (7810) that marked the beginning of other popular LEGO Train sets. As an exclusive commemorative set, it is a near-perfect replica of set 7810, with an exact copy of its minifigure.

Here’s How You Can Have Your Very Own LEGO Ideas Pursuit of Flight Custom Set

If you’re following our blog site for some time now, you may probably have stumbled across the impressive work of Jason Allemann or aka JK Brickworks for most members of the LEGO fan community. He’s been known as the fan builder behind some official LEGO sets released such as the LEGO Ideas Pop-Up Book (21315) and the LEGO Ideas Maze (21305). But in spite of his many accomplishments, he always finds time to give back to the community. And this time around, he is sharing to the world one of his prized creations to show us how we can build our very own LEGO Ideas Pursuit of Flight custom set.

If you recall, the Pursuit of Flight was Jason’s most recent entry to the LEGO Ideas platform that managed to enter the Second 2019 LEGO Ideas Review Stage. However, it was bested by the now approved LEGO Ideas Medieval Castle and Winnie the Pooh. However, in spite of this setback, it did not deter Jason from giving back to those LEGO fans who supported his work. He now makes the building instructions available to the public for free as his way of saying thank you for the 10K support that his LEGO product idea received throughout the years.

If you want to have your own set based on this entry, then you may head over at Jason’s website, JK Brickworks, to download the instructions in PDF format, including its parts list, and a reference to a Rebrickable page so you can check if you have the 367 parts needed lying around in your LEGO collection. You also have the option of motorizing this build, using the Power Functions M-Motor instead of the hand crank. In case you missed it, here is a video demo on how his Pursuit of Flight works.

A huge thanks to Jason for sharing this impressive work for us to enjoy!

LEGO Teams Up With Chronicle Books for a LEGO Still Life Photo Contest

Here’s another way of looking at LEGO.  Chronicle Books have teamed up with LEGO for a pretty neat LEGO Still Life Photo Contest where you can show your most creative brick rendition of real-life situations without connecting LEGO pieces! Here are some examples of creative entries.

Chronicle Books launches this contest to coincide with the upcoming release of their eight new licensed LEGO products in April, including a first in a line made specifically for adult fans of LEGO.

In order to join the LEGO Still Life Challenge, participants have to compose their own “still life” scene using only unconnected LEGO bricks. Then you need to share a photo in a public Instagram or Twitter post with hashtags #LEGOStillLife and #ChroniclexLEGO. Once shared over at social media, you need to enter the details of your entry at Chronicle Books’ website.

In order to participate, you need to be a US resident and 18 years old and above. Participants ages 13-17 may require parental consent in order to join. There will be three winners to be announced: a Grand Prize Winner (to receive all 8 Chronicle Books products + a LEGO Gift Card worth $250), a Second Prize Winner (6 Chronicle Books products + Brick Backpack + Key Chain + more), and a Third Prize Winner (Chronicle Books Stationery + Colored Pencils + Buildable Ruler)

March 2020 LEGO Store Calendar Out Now

LEGO has now published its March 2020 Store Calendar and with it, we can catch a glimpse of the various promos that will kick-start our spring brick-building. For starters, the upcoming LEGO DOTS customizable accessory kits take center stage in this monthly store calendar, together with other spring-themed building activities. Let’s check out the details.

Free Exclusive LEGO Trains 40th Anniversary Set (40370)

Promo period: March 1-15, 2020

March 2020 LEGO Store Calendar

We first spotted this set last month, with some sketchy details on when and how it will be available. Like other commemorative sets, this one will be exclusively available in all LEGO stores and at LEGO Shop@Home for a single-receipt, qualifying purchases of any LEGO merchandise worth $99 and above. Expect this to be popular among AFOLs especially those who are fans of LEGO Train sets. There are plenty of LEGO fan websites that already gave their thoughts about this set, and it only makes me more excited to have it. This is one set that I’m looking forward to adding to my collection.

Free LEGO DOTS Mini Frame (30556)

Promo period: March 9-22, 2020

March 2020 LEGO Store Calendar

30556 1

Further expanding the creative possibilities of the LEGO DOTS theme, LEGO is throwing another freebie with this exclusive polybag offering. Fans can expect this new LEGO DOTS Mini Frame (30556) to be added to their cart once their purchases reach a minimum of $35 or more anytime between March 9 to 22.

Free LEGO Easter Egg (40371)

Promo period: March 23-April 13, 2020

March 2020 LEGO Store Calendar

Here’s a cute, little Easter surprise from LEGO. Every LEGO purchase that you make from March 23 to April 13 worth $50 and above will entitle you to a free customizable LEGO Easter Egg (40371) set. Though we do not have official images of this promotional item, on the get-go we can see that its design is somewhat similar to what LEGO released in the UK back in 2004 (sets 4212850 & 4212852). Its retail value of $12.99 may also suggest that this free set will clock in at more or less 100 pieces. The brick-built chick is a cute addition to this freebie, with the yellow and green color scheme perfectly complementing the vibrant mood of spring. Be sure to check this out towards the last week of March if you want to bag this one.

Free LEGO Easter Bunny (30550)

Promo period: March 23-April 13, 2020

March 2020 LEGO Store Calendar 30550 1

It seems that LEGO intends this next freebie to complement its LEGO Easter Egg promo. For a minimum single-receipt purchase worth  $30 or more, you’ll get to add the LEGO Easter Bunny (30550) for free. It’s a pretty neat set to add to the LEGO Easter Egg, where you can have both sets once your purchase reaches a $50 price point.

However, parents or caretakers must ensure that their children are pre-registered at their local LEGO Store starting March 6.

How Do You DOT?

In-store event: March 19, 2020

06 03 March Calendar US Page 2

Participants ages 6 to 18 can visit their local LEGO Store on March 19 to create their own LEGO DOT accessory and bring it home for free as a gift for their selves. However, LEGO DOT bracelets (sets 41900, 41901, 41902, 41903 & 41912) needed for these accessories are sold separately. This building event requires in-store pre-registration beginning March 6.

Other than the LEGO DOTS sets, there are plenty more to watch out for once March kicks in such as the LEGO Spider-Man Venom Crawler (76163), LEGO Marvel Black Widow’s Helicopter Chase (76162), the LEGO Ninjago Golden Zane Minifigure Accessory Set (40374), and LEGO Fairground Minifigure Accessory Set (40373) to name a few. If you time your next LEGO purchase accordingly, it’s possible to get the commemorative LEGO Train 40th Anniversary Set and the LEGO DOTS Mini Frame in one go. It is also the same for the LEGO Easter-themed freebies since they are offered within the same promo period.

LEGO Ideas Indiana Jones Trilogy Achieves 10K Support

Fans of the Indiana Jones films will probably love to see this become an official LEGO set. Following the success of the LEGO product idea Retro Bowling Alley, now comes another 10K achiever in the form of the  LEGO Ideas Indiana Jones Trilogy by BenBuildsLego.

This LEGO product idea takes inspiration on the 40th anniversary of the Indiana Jones franchise, with all three films aptly represented through its different microscaled builds. It follows a design similar to what you can find in recent LEGO Architecture Skyline sets.

LEGO Ideas Indiana Jones Trilogy

I’m not really sure if this LEGO product idea still falls within the allowable guidelines that the LEGO Ideas Review Team might consider since LEGO already released numerous Indiana Jones tie-in sets back in 2008 and 2009. We just have to wait and see once this year’s First LEGO Ideas Review Stage concludes. The LEGO Ideas Indiana Jones Trilogy is joined by other qualifying sets including Mary Poppins, Cherry Tree LaneTesla CybertruckUntitled Goose GameUCS Chitty Chitty Bang BangThe Train Station: StudgateSpaceX Falcon 9Mini-fig Scale Project Gemini, and Retro Bowling Alley.

Here’s what BenBuildsLego has to say about his qualifying entry.

LEGO Ideas Indiana Jones Trilogy

LEGO Ideas Indiana Jones Trilogy

“It’s not the years, honey. It’s the mileage.” – Dr. Henry Jones, Jr.
This microscale build is constructed in the style of the LEGO Architecture Skyline series and features the iconic locations where famous archeologist, Indiana Jones, recovered priceless historical artifacts:
  • The Temple of Doom (Sankara Stones) [1935, The Temple of Doom]
  • The Well of Souls (The Ark of the Covenant) [1936, Raiders of the Lost Ark]
  • Temple of the Sun (The Holy Grail) [1938, The Last Crusade]
Unlike the historical artifacts (which belong in a museum!), this set belongs on your desk!   This compact 650-piece set (9.4″ L x 3.2″ W x 3.7″ H) makes for the perfect display piece for every fan of Indiana Jones.  The set is also paired with a stand that includes three desirable minifigures from popular films:
  • Indiana Jones
  • Marion Ravenwood
  • Dr. Henry Walton Jones, Sr.
The backside of the set also includes additional references to the films with a microscale mine car chase and the interior of the Grail Temple.  Lego fans young and old will delight in creating these iconic locations and discovering their hidden secrets.
If you love Indiana Jones and LEGO, I would be forever thankful for your support!

LEGO Legacy: Heroes Unboxed Mobile Game First Impressions

Last August, LEGO and Gameloft officially announced their newest collaboration that brings your favorite LEGO minifigure character to life in an RPG world. Since then, the LEGO Legacy: Heroes Unboxed mobile game was up for pre-registration which will reward users with coins, gems and a chance to have as their fan-voted minifigure as their starting character. And though the wait may seem forever, those looking forward to this latest LEGO mobile game will be glad to know that Gameloft has announced a global release date of February 27.

Available both for Windows, Apple, and Android users, LEGO Legacy: Heroes Unboxed is a mash-up of classic and modern LEGO minifigures, all at your disposal to create the winning team that you can use to engage in fun and epic team battles. Though the game’s official social media channels mention a Feb. 27 release date, I was surprised to see that it was already available to download in Southeast Asia via Google Play since Monday. I managed to install it to my Android device, with my initial roster of characters to be the Hiker from LEGO CMF Series 16 (71013), the Chicken Suit Guy from CMF Series 9 (71000), and Crook Chuck from LEGO City sets 60126 and 60130. Throughout the game, the player is assisted by the wizard Majisto, from 1993’s Dragon Knights Castle subtheme. There’s a total of 53 minifigure heroes to unlock, with more to come I presume. The game begins with a preliminary stage which AFOLs can humorously relate with very well – “The Dark Age”, with the goal to rebuild Piptown and all its brick-built structures.

lego legacy 1

I like the idea that the game developers went to lengths to give each minifigure character its own skillsets and power-ups, both for offense and team support during a team battle. For example, the Chicken Suit Guy can inflict damage across multiple enemies through its Spin Attack, while the Hiker has the special ability to heal its members through a funny, kumbaya camp song. Crook Chuck also has the strategic ability to taunt opponents, forcing opponents to direct all their attacks at him so as not to damage his teammates. You also get to unlock other minifig abilities, characters, and quests as you progress in the game. I’m sure to explore other aspects of this game later on as time permits.

Coming in at 640 pieces the Venomosaurus Ambush (76151) is expected to retail for $ 79.99 and includes a buildable Venomized dino (much similar to a T.rex) a mega-buggy, and four minifigures. As I’ve mentioned before, what practically could be the main selling point of this set is the inclusion of the first-ever Spider-Ham minifigure which I feel will be quite popular to collectors.
