More Police and Firefighting 2019 LEGO City Sets Revealed

If you’ve been keeping pace with our updates on what LEGO sets are scheduled to officially come out in 2019 (or unofficially, be already available in toy retailers from, say, Canada), then you’ll know that many of the upcoming 2019 LEGO City sets have common themes: action and adventure, judging from the various firefighting and police operation sets in the previews.

As it turns out, the action-packed and adventurous LEGO City sets for next year are just getting warmed up. Following the first batch of previews, more 2019 sets have been revealed, lots of them depicting exciting sequences of epic firefights or high-speed high-altitude police chases and urban surfaces to play on.

81-Year-Old Proponent of Miami’s Adrienne Arsht Center Recreates Building with LEGO

LEGO has been especially pushing their brand, by means of some new in-development sets, to attract the purchase of adults not just to give to their children, but for themselves. While LEGO might want its products to be enjoyable to all ages, they probably never thought it might catch the fancy of an 81-year-old man.

Said cool old guy is Stuart Blumberg, retired president of the hotel association for Miami-Dade County. Blumberg even got into LEGO at such an advanced age, attempting his first build at 78. That was the beginning of his LEGO experience that lasted some three years.

STUBLUMBERGLEGOgepf

His set builds advanced from vehicles to building models, and now he’s taken on an MOC project in honor of a local structure he had been personally invested in: the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. He had been part of a group that pushed for the construction of the center back in the 1990s, not opening until 2006.

Blumberg had the brick design for the Arsht Center created by Brett Thiessen of StadiumBrick on Etsy, along with the necessary LEGO pieces to construct it. This MOC not only has more bricks in it than the LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle micro-scale set (71043, 6000+ pieces), it almost reaches the amount to assemble the LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon (75192).

Despite the effort and building time, Blumberg was ecstatic as he recalled his time on the board that oversaw the delayed construction of the real Arsht Center. “Building it was emotional,” he said. “Watching it being built again. In reality. In real time. Each time, I put something in there, it was like watching the real building be built all over again.” He has shown the build to the center’s namesake, retired philanthropist Adrienne Arsht, who was impressed.

“LEGO Worlds” Gets New Free Content with “Wild West” Theme

When the tandem of WB Interactive and Traveller’s Tales gets mentioned, the first thing to a LEGO gamer’s mind is perhaps their franchise titles like the recent LEGO The Incredibles or LEGO DC Super Villains. But even non-franchise “original” LEGO gets love in the form of sandbox title LEGO Worlds.

Released last year, the game has chugged along steadily even while its developers continued churning out franchise-themed titles in the same vein. Updates to LEGO Worlds itself often came in the form of new content in costumes, equipment and locations. And a new batch of additions was added last Thanksgiving.

LEGO Worlds now has some new “Wild West Content” that became available for download since November 22. As the name spells out, players can expect environments such as an old western town, log fort, mountain main and much more. That comes with period appropriate getup, weapons and tools and horse figures to ride on.

LEGO promises a rooting-tooting time as they set up dusty desert rides, high-noon showdowns and whatever hijinks one might get to when in the Old West, especially when everything’s made out of LEGO. LEGO Worlds is available on Windows, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

Missed LEGO’s Black Friday Deal for Retiring Ideas Set Old Fishing Store (21310)? Amazon Still Has Sale for It

November 23 – Black Friday 2018 – has come and gone, though some of the sales and discounts may have carried over the weekend. LEGO certainly took advantage of that fact by offering great prices for a selection of sets that have been announced for retirement by next year, jumping up interest.

One such retiring set given the spotlight during Black Friday on Shop@Home was the LEGO Ideas Old Fishing Store (21310). The price cut wasn’t only welcome; it was still large enough to qualify for a free LEGO Christmas Gift Box (40292) by itself. Too bad it was just one day.

By now, the Old Fishing Store (21310) is marked as sold out on LEGO Shop@Home, and with the retirement announcement done we can’t be sure if it’ll be restocked over there. Fortunately there are other places to look for it, like Amazon. They’re also offering nice price cuts for it.

With a 23% off courtesy of Amazon, the LEGO Ideas Old Fishing Store (21310) can be had for just about $114.99 over there. Granted, it doesn’t come with a free Christmas Gift Box (40292); but when you’re racing against time to get one before its retirement becomes effective with “sold-out” listings, then you’ve got to get it when you can.

2019 LEGO City Official Images Now Up

Following the release of a good number of 2019 LEGO Creator official set images, we now have crisp, set images for the 2019 LEGO City scheduled to arrive this December. Since spotted at the store shelves of Mastermind Toys in Canada, last week, early rumors are now confirmed that the first wave of 2019 LEGO City sets will follow the usual Police and Firefighter themes that LEGO has released before.

Though the LEGO City theme is beginning to be a bit redundant having the same old themes being released again, one couldn’t help but notice how these sets evolve throughout the years particularly with the inclusion of new pieces and building techniques. Somehow, LEGO managed to release new sets that are based on old themes, and still offer a new and exciting look given their new elements and designs. I’m looking forward to the Downtown Fire Brigade (60216) which is not featured here since there are no official images of this set as of this posting; the Snow Groomer (60222), and the Harvester Transport (60223). These sets include several interesting pieces like the rehashed light bricks and the clever use of Nexo Knights shield pieces, to name a few.

These new 2019 LEGO City sets are expected to be available in LEGO Stores and at shop.LEGO.com before the year ends.

2019 LEGO Creator Official Images Released

A few days ago, we reported on how the first wave of 2019 LEGO Creator sets was spotted in a Mastermind Toy Store in Canada. It was immediately noticeable that LEGO is continuing its line of 3-in-1 Creator sets, ranging from vehicles, a boat and a sea creature can transform to a shark, angler fish, and a giant squid.

I’m particularly interested with the Deep Sea Creatures, Underwater Robot, and Riverside Houseboat so I hope to grab these sets as soon as they are available. These new 2019 LEGO Creator sets are slated to be released before the year ends, so I guess I better save up for the holidays. Thanks to Candid Bricks for the tip.

New LEGO Batman Sets Coming in 2019

Moving on with our set reveals for 2019, we now have official images of what looks to be the next wave of LEGO DC sets. Following the redesigned look and format of the new LEGO Spider-man box art, it now seems that LEGO also intends to give the LEGO DC Comics theme a design overhaul as well. Courtesy of The Brick Fan, we now have images of two, new LEGO Batman sets that will be offered at the first quarter of 2019.

You may already have noticed that the box art design for these new LEGO Batman sets has dropped the DC Comics name all throughout, save for the DC logo which is printed on the lower right corner of the box. This first wave of LEGO Batman offerings features Batman pitted against familiar foes such as a new in 2019 minifigure of Ocean Master, Poison Ivy, and Firefly. He is also joined by allies: another new minifigure iteration of Aquaman which follows a close semblance to the DCEU version of the King of Atlantis, save for the blond hair. The Flash also gets a new minifigure design, the most noticeable is the dual-molded yellow legs, which in my opinion, doesn’t sit quite well with how we usually remember the superhero speedster.

So what do you think of this redesigned, LEGO Batman sets? Are you fine with the box art and minifigure’s new looks? Tell us what you think in the comments below.
