The full range of LEGO Super Mario sets are now available, and one particular set (or collection) that you might be interested in is the LEGO Super Mario Character Packs (71361). This line of LEGO Super Mario blind bags adds another level of play to your LEGO Super Mario Starter Course (71360) by adding more characters (and coins) into the fray. Now thanks to what Candidbricks have shared recently, we know what to expect from this collectible blind bag’s box distribution.
For starters, we all know that this is not the first time LEGO has delved into buildable blind bag characters. And perhaps learning from its relatively unsuccessful release of the LEGO Unikitty Series 1 (41775) blind bags two years ago, LEGO now seems to have it right with the offering of the LEGO Super Mario Character Packs (71361). More than just a way of expanding the Starter Course’s play features, the blind bag characters from this theme and how they were designed and built, are good enough to pass as collectibles in themselves.

With just 10 characters to collect and 20 blind bags per box set, Candidbricks points out that LEGO seems to make it easy for us to collect the entire set in one go. Because as it turns out eventually, each box contains exactly two sets of the Character Packs, plus there is no chase figure or character included in this series as well. The number of complete sets available per box was confirmed by LEGO Super Mario lead designer Jonathan Bennink via Rambling Brick. This is a welcomed move from LEGO, and I’m glad that the company opted for this approach.
Being assured of having two complete sets per box is also desirable, because feeling your way through each of the blind bags may prove to be difficult, if not, frustrating because of the number of varied parts per bag. All you need to do now is to grab a buddy and convince him or her to split the bill. The LEGO Super Mario Character Packs (71361) is currently available for $4.99 at LEGO Shop@Home together with the rest of the LEGO Super Mario sets.
There’s a new LEGO set on display at the LEGO Store in Billund that got me excited. Thanks to this report from Stone Wars, we now know that we will also be having a larger LEGO City set big enough to qualify as a LEGO Store exclusive. The LEGO City Main Square (60271) comes jam-packed with many smaller builds that give life to this bustling activity center.

Though we only have this single image taken on the shelf of the LEGO Store in Billund, it is enough for us to see what we can expect from the set. For starters, the set includes a town hall, a city diner, a concert stage, a park with string lights, a helicopter, a black limousine, and a pretty interesting monorail and train stop. It’s hard to figure out from the box art if the set comes with tracks for the monorail since the image of the monorail seems to be superimposed on the foreground. The LEGO City Main Square also comes with an impressive array of 13 minifigures, including the characters of Poppy Starr, Harl Hubbs, Mayor Fleck, Snake Rattler, Duke Detain, and Freya Mcloud as seen from LEGO’s ongoing animated series, LEGO City Adventures.
The way the LEGO City Main Square (60271) is designed is also reminiscent of LEGO’s previous offering back in 2015 in the form of the LEGO City Square (60097). This set also featured a monorail and a chopper, with a total number of 14 minifigures hustling and bustling around.
We have no further info about this latest LEGO City Main Square, except for its price point of around 199.99 Euros or $190 to $200 for that matter. This may also suggest that we can expect a piece count of around 1,700 pieces or so coming from such a large set. We don’t know for sure if and when this set will make an appearance over at LEGO Shop@Home, but I’m positive that we will officially hear from LEGO anytime soon.

Its August 1st, and it can only mean that more LEGO sets are now put on display at your local brand LEGO store (in case they’re now open) and over at LEGO Shop@Home. And this month, it seems that LEGO has the adult fan community in mind when it launched its impressive wave of LEGO 18+ sets, catering to the more discerning LEGO hobbyist in mind.
Since LEGO began introducing its 18+ sets branding with the LEGO Star Wars Helmet Collection, the LEGO Group made it a point to offer larger, more sophisticated sets to the AFOL (Adult Fans of LEGO) community. And since then, we’ve seen a steady increase of sets representing each of LEGO’s current themes.
Just to be sure that everything is covered though, LEGO has also released other sets intended for all ages coming from its various licensed and homegrown themes. With 55 new sets offered this month (as per Brickset’s count), I’m pretty sure there is something that will catch your fancy. We have a handful of new sets coming from other LEGO themes such as Star Wars, Super Mario, Harry Potter, Technic, Friends, City, Ninjago, Hidden Side and my personal favorite, Monkie Kid. Take note that depending on your region, some of these sets might still be released on a later date.

LEGO.com has released its digital version of the August 2020 LEGO Store Calendar, putting the spotlight in its upcoming LEGO Super Mario expansions sets and its next 18+ set, the LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System (71374).
Similar to its previous store calendars, there’s no virtually no mention of any in-store events and activities due to the current pandemic, but it doesn’t stop LEGO from giving out its offerings and freebies. After officially unveiling its LEGO Art theme earlier this month, LEGO has now released an accompanying designer video that gives us an inside look at the creative inspiration behind one of its offerings. LEGO Designer Chris Stamp shares with us the inspiration and design process that goes with LEGO ART, particularly to that of MCU’s Iron Man. The LEGO Art Marvel Studios Iron Man (31199) allows you to recreate three particular versions of Iron Man as we remember him on the big screen, each of which somehow presents a particular milestone in the evolution of Tony Stark’s superhero persona. Set on a 48×48 frame, LEGO fans can choose to recreate the Mark 3 that appeared in the very first Iron Man movie. You can also opt to recreate a pixelated image of the Hulkbuster if you wish to memorialize Iron Man’s historic bout with the Hulk and their subsequent team-up as the world’s mightiest heroes in the form of the Avengers. And finally, as a fitting tribute to the ultimate sacrifice of the “genius, billionaire, playboy philanthropist” we all cried for in Endgame, the LEGO Design team saw it fit to have the Mark 85 as the final representative for the LEGO Art Marvel Studios Iron Man mosaic.
You can choose to display all of the three different versions of MCU’s Iron Man as seen above. Bear in mind that you need to have three sets of the LEGO Art Marvel Studios Iron Man (31199) in order to do this.
As you may have known already, what is also cool about the LEGO Art theme is that you can combine several copies of the same set to recreate a larger, more impressive LEGO mosaic. You can combine three of these LEGO Art Marve Studios Iron Man and you can have an almost 4 feet long LEGO mosaic art that you can proudly display at home. The combined, three 15.5 inches panels recreate the ultimate Iron Man in an awesome, dynamic pose. You may also opt to display all three separate designs like a sort of a timeline that covers the significant events in MCU’s Iron Man.
Or you may opt to have a larger 4-foot panel using three same sets for that ultimate LEGO Iron Man tribute.
What builders may also find interesting about the LEGO Art theme are the new parts that come with them. There’s the new 16×16 brick that allows you to divide the LEGO Art set into 9 separate panels. Such design allows the builder to focus on one section of the set, without being overwhelmed by the rest of the details. There’s also a new and wider black brick separator (which looks cool by the way), designed specifically to remove 4 or 6 tile pieces at a time. Finally, there’s a new hanger piece which is basically a 3×5 panel with a pinhole that allows the completed set to be hung and displayed on a wall.

With the latest LEGO Art series, LEGO hopes that adult fans of the brick and those that are just starting in the hobby will be able to appreciate what this series has to offer – a sort of a creative break, especially during these trying times.
Its been a long time coming and thankfully, the LEGO Ideas Team has finally ushered in what could probably be the most sophisticated LEGO Ideas set as of to date. The LEGO Ideas Grand Piano (21323) has been finally unveiled, giving us a closer look at the intricate details and the complex designing that were involved in creating this musical brick masterpiece.
Coming in at 3,662 pieces, the official LEGO Ideas Grand Piano (21323) is the brainchild of musician and avid LEGO builder Donny Chen (aka Sleepy Cow over at the LEGO Ideas platform). Though the journey was quite long, the waiting time is definitely worth it. It took more than a year before we saw the realization of Donny’s vision for this grand masterpiece. Back in May 2019, the LEGO Ideas Team needed more time to review the Grand Piano when it was shortlisted during the LEGO Ideas Third 2018 Review Stage. It eventually had the thumbs up to become the next official LEGO Ideas set in September of last year together with another much-awaited approved set, the LEGO Ideas 123 Sesame Street.
The LEGO Ideas Grand Piano (21323) is one of the many 18+ LEGO sets that are intended for adult fans of LEGO due to its aesthetics, sophisticated features, and the degree of complexity required in building the set. It looks like the good guys of LEGO City are getting some reinforcements. From the depths of the sea in collaboration with National Geographic, we now return to the action-packed city with three additional LEGO City Elite sets slated to be released in August.

The limited-edition LEGO DC Comics Superheroes Bizarro Minifigure is the next sweepstakes prize up for grabs. This rare minifigure made its debut at SDCC 2012 as a ComicCon promotional with only 1,000 or so minifigs made for the said event. You may enter online from July 13 to August 2, with 50 VIP points per sweepstakes entry.
And similar to previous months, the LEGO Store July 2020 Store Calendar shows no indication of any LEGO in-store activities slated for next month as a precaution against the spread of COVID-19. However, LEGO promises to gradually re-open all of its stores as long as the proper health protocols are in place.
