Last month, we saw that the new LEGO Hidden Side theme will also be getting its first promotional set. We shared several images of the LEGO Hidden Side Newbury Juice Bar (40336) – a still yet to be announced freebie for fans of this new augmented reality sets. Thanks to some insider info shared by The Brick Fan, we now have an idea on when this gift-with-purchase set will be available.
According to a tip received by Allen, it can be expected that the Newbury Juice Bar (40336) will be available in LEGO Stores and online sometime between September 2 to 15 with a minimum, single receipt purchase worth $50 and above. We’re not sure yet if purchases are limited to Hidden Side sets only, or it’s based on any set purchase or LEGO merchandise. My hunch is that it’s limited to purchase of LEGO Hidden Side sets which is the most reasonable way to obtain this freebie.
UPDATE (Aug. 25, 2019): According to a follow-up report by The Brick Fan, it seems that the LEGO Hidden Side Newbury Juice Bar (40336) will be available as a gift-for-purchase set for a minimum single-receipt purchase of ANY LEGO merchandise worth $50 USD and above. This means that this promotional set is not necessarily limited to LEGO Hidden Side purchases. We’ll have to wait until next week to see if this will be the case.
The LEGO Hidden Side Newbury Juice Bar (40336) comes in at 127 pieces and features two minifigures: Parker and a Street Vendor. Like the rest of the Hidden Side sets, the Newbury Juice Bar also comes with a surprisingly fun play feature that allows this innocent-looking juice bar to transform into a monstrous refreshment stand. Hopefully like in the same case of the LEGO Star Wars Mini Droid Commander GWP, we will see more details about this promotional once the LEGO Store September Calendar rolls out. LEGO’s online store has been busy updating its site with yet another item. After listing the LEGO CMF Series 19 (71025) which will be available starting September 1, LEGO seems to be introducing (hopefully) a way in which we can get a complete series of CMFs all throughout. A complete box of the LEGO Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 2 tagged with set number 66625, is now offered at LEGO Shop@Home containing 60 blind bags, retailing for $239.99 USD. This is a great opportunity for collectors to snag a complete set or two straight out of the box since you may recall that the Disney CMF Series 2’s box distribution guarantees 2 complete sets of the 18 LEGO Disney minifigure characters that go with it. I’m not quite sure if LEGO is just replenishing stocks or will it be offering complete CMF boxes moving forward. Or perhaps because of the rarity of the Huey, Dewey and Louie minifigs prompted LEGO to make this offer. Whatever is the case, we just have to wait and see. We now have a look at the next seasonal set to arrive in LEGO Stores in September – the LEGO BrickHeadz Ghost (40351).
The LEGO BrickHeadz Ghost (40351) comes in at 136 pieces and is expected to retail for $9.99 USD. This new seasonal set follows the Easter Chick (40350) which is still available at LEGO Shop@Home if you’re still interested in adding this to your collection. I like how this Ghost turned out, with all the challenges of creating a recognizable character (in this case, with all the curves and design challenges of this Ghost figure) and adopting the distinct BrickHeadz style to it, I have to say that it’s not an easy feat. It was also nice of LEGO to throw in some specific Halloween-themed parts such as the pumpkin head and the bat figure.
I’m also looking forward to this year’s holiday-inspired BrickHeadz which is the Reindeer, Elf and Elfie (40353). Its a sort of a megapack if I may use the word where you can get 3 characters in 1 set. This will be most likely available sometime in October or early November. After teasing on social media their next LEGO Ideas set, LEGO has now unveiled the LEGO Ideas Central Perk (21319) building set inspired by the hit 90s TV sitcom, F.R.I.E.N.D.S. As you may have noticed, there has been a lot of changes with the way LEGO has promoting it’s content and product line-up during these past months, and one of these is the way it delivers info regarding the happenings inside our local LEGO stores. For starters, we all know that the monthly LEGO Store Calendar as we know it has gone through an overhaul, with the digital copy of the calendar only made available at the start of each month.
As such, most fans now need to be quick on spotting LEGO store promos especially those that tend to be offered on a very limited time period. And I guess this is exactly the case with this month’s LEGO Store promos. I have to admit that this may not be new for most of our readers but still, it may be helpful for some who are looking for the best promos this month at their nearby LEGO stores. Unfortunately, this promo is long over as of posting time. The LEGO Friends Mia’s Water Fun (30410) polybag were only available for a day (August 4, 2019) for a minimum single-receipt purchase of any LEGO merchandise worth $35 and above.
Free Reversible Tote Bag for LEGO VIPs
From August 1 to 14, LEGO VIP members with LEGO purchases equal to $200 and more are entitled to a free LEGO Reversible Canvas Bag (5005910) to help you carry your latest LEGO haul. This promo is not new actually since a different version of this tote bag was offered to the general public back in June and November of 2017.
Build a Mini Harley-Davidson Motorcycle and Take It Home for Free
I reckon that this is the most appealing promotional offered for this month. This make-and-take building event is slated in LEGO stores just for one day on August 6, so better expect this to be gone really fast. This mini-build of the iconic Harley-Davidson bike has made its appearance in places like in Germany and China and takes its cue from its larger cousin, the recently released LEGO Creator Expert Harley-Davidson Fat Boy (10269). Do take note that this building event requires pre-registration (which already started last August 1) at your local LEGO store. You must also be age 18 and above to participate.
Ice Cream Truck Building Event
For younger LEGO builders, the LEGO Store is the place to be on August 14 and 20. Children ages 6 to 14 can pre-register to have the chance of building and bringing home this excellent Ice Cream Truck model. Though LEGO didn’t mention specifically that this model is similar to the now practically discontinued Monthly Mini Build promos, the way it works seems to be similar.
Live In-Store LEGO Lab Demos
Throughout the whole month of August, LEGO will be introducing a new hands-on concept to fans and first time LEGO Store visitors. Dubbed as LEGO Lab, LEGO Stores will now have live demonstrations of its latest LEGO sets especially those that feature breakthrough technologies, robotics, and new interactive Powered-Up sets. This includes sets that most likely include the new augmented-reality technology as featured in the LEGO Hidden Side theme and those from new Technic sets that feature the Power-Up technology such as the 4×4 X-Treme Off-Roader (42099).
I was mostly offline during these past few days since I shared some of my initial thoughts on the next wave of LEGO collectible minifigs (was struggling with a ridiculous amount of schoolwork during these times). I must also admit that I based my opinion of them on a blind bag checklist that was leaked on social media sites. But thanks to online German toy store JB Spielwaren, we can now have a better look at these images. These are official images by the way that LEGO provided to third party retailers and as of this posting Spielwaren has them up on their site so I guess its fair game sharing these here are as well. I’m still waiting for LEGO to announce the official names of these characters from the LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 19 (71025), so for the meantime let’s settle for these preliminary names. Here we go.
