In case you haven’t noticed yet, LEGO Shop@Home is now carrying a new promotional that will run for the next two weeks. It may not be that exciting as compared to the upcoming gift-with-purchase set such as the LEGO Batman 1989 Batmobile – Limited Edition (40433) set, but still, its a nice way to celebrate the holiday season. From November 4 to 17, every single-receipt purchase of any LEGO product or merchandise worth $35 and more will entitle you to a free LEGO Creator Reindeer (40434) polybag.
As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, this latest LEGO Creator Reindeer (40434) freebie is basically a re-release of 2016’s LEGO Creator Reindeer (30474). It may not look that much but since its a promotional, I’m still glad to see a free item added in my cart. However, I strongly feel that most fans out there are holding back on their LEGO purchases until the end of this month once this year’s Black Friday deals roll in. For one, those who will make their LEGO qualifying purchases (worth $120 and more) from November 29 to December 2 will get the much better, limited-edition LEGO Christmas Tree (40338) gift-with-purchase set.
LEGO is also posed to reveal another BIG, nostalgic set that will debut on these dates. I’m positive that this display-worthy set will be revealed very soon so be sure to stay tuned.
After the first public appearance of the next LEGO direct-to-consumer set in the form of the LEGO Batman 1989 Batmobile (76139), it looks like LEGO is throwing a freebie as a form of incentive for those who are planning to purchase this. Promobricks has recently shared several official images of the LEGO Batman 1989 Batmobile – Limited Edition (40433) set that may come as our next promotional or gift-with-purchase set.
We don’t know yet the terms and conditions on how to obtain this set, but from the looks of these images, I think most will agree that it is something equally impressive to have like its larger counterpart. The LEGO Batman 1989 Batmobile – Limited Edition (40433) has a certain premium feel to it, offered as a typical box set, and has a flair of exclusivity. Based on the set’s schematics at the back, this exclusive gift comes in at 366 pieces and proudly measures in at 29 centimeters long – almost a foot long or at 11 1/2 inches. It is quite impressive for a freebie considering how it looks. It also comes with its own fact sheet that can be displayed alongside the set, giving it a UCS kind of vibe. It simply looks gorgeous very much the same as its bigger brother.
We can expect more details to be made available about this collectible set by next week once LEGO gives its official press release about the LEGO Batman 1989 Batmobile (76139), so stay tuned.
LEGO has already released its November 2019 LEGO Store Calendar giving us an overview of the promos and events that will happen this month. The calendar highlights the shop by interest feature of LEGO Shop@Home, which is a helpful kind of filter especially for those new in LEGO. Same as before, let’s take a closer look at some of the things that we can expect from our local LEGO store this month.
Free LEGO Creator Reindeer (40434) With Purchases Over $35 USD
This free polybag is basically a rehash of 2016’s seasonal freebie which is the Reindeer (30474), so if you missed out on this one now is a great time to get it. This free LEGO Creator Reindeer (40434) will automatically appear in your shopping cart from November 4 to 17 once your LEGO purchases reach $35 and above.
Free Exclusive LEGO Christmas Tree (40338) With Purchases Over $120 USD
Last September, it was revealed that this holiday season’s gift-with-purchase (GWP) set will be in the form of the LEGO Christmas Tree (40338). It is now finally confirmed that this GWP set will be an incentive for those who will be making their LEGO purchases during this year’s Black Friday sales from November 29 to December 2. Expect this 392-piece set to be added to your cart during these dates when your LEGO purchases reach $120 and more.
#BuildtoGive Holiday Campaign
LEGO is bringing back its charitable campaign from last year, in the form of #BUILDTOGIVE. The idea is basically straightforward: the LEGO Group will donate one LEGO set to charity for every #BuildtoGive ornament that is built either at home with LEGO bricks and shared via social media with #BuildtoGive, or in a participating store. The LEGO Group aims to donate a total of one million LEGO sets (estimated at $10,000,000 USD) to children in need around the world. It’s a great way to share our love and passion for the LEGO brick this holiday season.
Pick & Build Wall Holiday Gifts
From November 11 until Christmas Eve, the LEGO Store’s Pick & Build Wall will feature holiday-themed builds that you can purchase as a gift or as fun, stocking stuffers for the little kiddos. Be aware though that this unique building experience may only be limited to select LEGO Stores so be sure to ask your LEGO Brick Specialists for details.
2019 Black Friday Sales
Be sure to check with your local LEGO Store or at LEGO Shop@Home for this year’s LEGO Black Friday deals. We don’t have info yet on which sets will have the Black Friday tag so be sure to check with us for more updates.
LEGO Stores Opening This Fall
LEGO fans will be pleased to know that LEGO is opening or has already opened additional LEGO Stores across the US. If you’re living near these areas, then be sure to check the following LEGO brand stores.
Here’s another reason to be jolly this holiday season. It has been revealed that we will have another limited edition, gift-with-purchase (GWP) set just in time for Christmas. An image has been shared via Brick and Bricks’ Facebook page that shows the arrival of a limited edition, LEGO Mini Gingerbread House (40337) GWP set anytime soon. This freebie is a nod to its larger replica which is the LEGO Creator Expert Gingerbread House (10267).
This is a great addition to the recently announced LEGO Christmas Tree (40338) set which will also be offered as a seasonal gift-with-purchase set at the end of November. Other than this first look, we don’t have further info as of now regarding its release date nor its piece count. Though the 2019 LEGO Christmas Tree (40338) freebie comes at a higher purchase price point of $120 USD because of its higher piece count, we can expect the LEGO Mini Gingerbread House (40337) to be somewhat lower. In any case, it will be great to see both of these sets on display beside that LEGO Winter Village MOC that you might be working on.
If you recall, this smaller version of the Gingerbread House is somehow reminiscent of 2015’s similar freebie which is the LEGO Gingerbread House (40139). It was offered back then during 2015’s Black Friday sales in November, with qualifying LEGO purchases worth $99 and more. So I guess it’s not far-fetched to consider that LEGO might be doing the same for this new Gingerbread House iteration.
To be completely honest, between this year’s version of the Mini Gingerbread House (40337) and that from four years ago (40139), I have to say that I prefer the latter. But in any case, I’m not the type to really complain especially considering the fact that this is a free set. I just hope that LEGO will offer this new freebie at a relatively low qualifying purchase point.
If you missed out on LEGO’s freebie last September, then this might be your last chance to add this promotional to your LEGO shopping cart. The LEGO Hidden Side Newbury Juice Bar (40336) is now back as a free item over at LEGO Shop@Home in the US, but you only have until today at 11:59 PM EST to do so.
Just in time for Halloween, the Newbury Juice Bar (40336) returns as a complimentary set to add more ghost hunting adventures to the LEGO Hidden Side theme. Valued at $12.99 USD, this 127-piece building set is added to your shopping cart automatically when your LEGO purchase reaches $50 or more. However, you have to be quick since this offer is only running for 2 days and will end soon in the next few hours.
Needless to say, it’s nice of LEGO to offer this treat once again this Halloween and in case you haven’t decided yet on that next LEGO purchase then this is a nice incentive to do so now. While you’re at it, you may also want to check the rest of the LEGO Hidden Side sets currently offered at LEGO Shop@Home.

LEGO Hidden Side Newbury Haunted High School (70425)
This end of the month marks the release of our latest LEGO Ideas set, and it looks like LEGO is throwing in a nice promotional to go along with it. Images of the LEGO Ideas Dinosaur Fossils (21320) display case promotional has been shared online by Instagram user dylanchow, though it may have a limited run, particularly to LEGO fans in China.
The said display case promotional is included in the packaging of the set and features a 3D museum cutout where you can display the brick-built dinosaur fossils. From the way it looks, it feels kind of relatively spacious actually considering the size of these builds and how the display case manages to fit all of them together.
This is not the first time for LEGO to offer such a promotional display. If you recall back in 2018, LEGO also offered a gift-with-purchase set – the LEGO Minifigure Factory (5005358) promotional – that features a minifigure vignette set on a cardboard backdrop. I guess most will agree that it is better to have a brick-built display case rather than a cardboard one, but since this is a freebie I have no complaints about it.
Though the LEGO Ideas Dinosaur Fossils (21320) display case promotional might be a regional exclusive, I’m still hoping that this will be made available in all LEGO stores worldwide. We just have to wait and see. Thanks to The Brick Fan for the heads up.
If you’re still holding back to that LEGO set that you’re dying to have, then you might want to think fast and make up your mind. This weekend marks the last day of LEGO’s Double VIP points promo on all purchases made both online and in-store, and this includes all LEGO sets that are currently available. The LEGO Double VIP points promo began last October 14 and will end this weekend October 27.
The LEGO VIP Rewards Center seems to be lacking a bit in terms of LEGO set rewards and other similar freebies. However, for Stranger Things fans, the LEGO Stranger Things Sketchbook promotional is still up so you may want to get this while you still can. Lastly, we can bet that the LEGO VIP Rewards Center will be updated soon, so be sure to keep those Double VIP points ready.
This month marks the official release of the largest LEGO Technic around which is the LEGO Technic Liebherr R 9800 Excavator (42100). For those who are excited to have their try on this mammoth-sized LEGO set, this premium LEGO set definitely comes with all the leveled-up perks of a typical LEGO Technic set, and with a rather hefty price tag. Retailing for $449.99 USD, it’s one serious investment that any fan of the LEGO theme should seriously consider.
So it begs the question: what can you actually do with an extremely sophisticated LEGO set such as the Liebherr R 9800 Excavator (42100)? Well, if you want some straightforward but silly answer to this question then I guess watching the recent YouTube video from Sariel’s LEGO Workshop will give you a list of things to do (or not do) with this set. Its a humorous take on the many things that this set can do. However, if you are wondering how LEGO can live up with its LEGO Technic tagline of “building for real”, then I have to say that this recent promotional video from the brick company is really pushing the envelope on what LEGO Technic sets can do.
To answer the question of what a LEGO Technic set such as the Liebherr can do in real-world tasks, a group of engineers, together with Sariel’s LEGO Workshop, came up with perhaps the most ingenious way of making use of this set. Watch this.
Amazing isn’t it? Using the parts from the LEGO Technic Liebherr R 9800 Excavator (42100) set, they managed to come up with mechanical arms and legs that actually controls and operates this 800+ ton of engineering wonder. The best part of it? They actually used the LEGO Technic Control+ app to remotely control the set’s Bluetooth-controlled smart hubs which in turn operated the arms and legs that maneuvered the biggest excavator in the world. That’s one heck of a real-world application using LEGO bricks.
Here are some awe-inspiring details about the real-life Liebherr R 9800 Excavator to give you perspective on how complex this LEGO Technic project is.
810 tonnes, approx. 3 times more than a large passenger aircraft
4,000 HP (2x V16 diesel engine – 60L each – 2,000 HP each)
Bucket size is 42m3 = 80 tonnes of material in one bucket or 300 bathtubs
Max travel speed = 2,6 km/h
10 meters high – 25 meters long – 9 meters wide
Designed to work from -50° to +50°
1 trackpad weighs more than a small passenger car
12 weeks are required to assemble a R 9800
28 trucks are required for the shipment of one R 9800
The R 9800 is manufactured in the Liebherr mining equipment production site in Colmar, France
Just thinking how a LEGO set was able to interact with its larger counterpart and makes the latter operable simply blows my mind. If you’re still looking forward to having the LEGO Technic Liebherr R 9800 Excavator (42100) set, added to your collection, then you may need to be more patient since this set is currently listed for backorders at LEGO Shop@Home. Nevertheless, be sure to check with LEGO’s online shopping portal for updates on its availability.
Triple Force Friday now comes to a close, and if you were one of those who took part in this Saturday’s LEGO Star Wars Luke Skywalker Timeline Make and Take building event, then its a nice piece of memorabilia to have around to cap off your LEGO Force Friday experience.
However, even if you were not around to participate in this event, then you’ll be glad to know that Brickset managed to share the building instructions to recreate this Make and Take freebie. Check out the following images below.
Coming in at 87 pieces, there seems to be no exclusive LEGO piece needed to build this set. It’s kind of a basic build actually, and I understand why not all LEGO Star Wars fans are into this kind of thing. But the thought behind this particular build is what makes it more interesting. It’s nice of the designer behind this make-and-take build to feature in using as few as 80+ LEGO pieces the entire Luke Skywalker Timeline as we see him in the events of Episode IV to VIII. Though made up of basic bricks, each rendition of the iconic Star Wars Jedi is easily recognizable. I like how old man Luke was nicely rendered with all the gray beard, hair and sand yellow bricks to represent his current garb as seen in The Last Jedi. Here’s a closer look at the parts list if you wish to see the parts that were used to build this LEGO Star Wars Luke Skywalker Timeline.
If you want to recreate this unique, Triple Force Friday make-and-take build, then I suggest that you go through your collection of LEGO bricks and see if you have the necessary pieces to do so. Thanks again to Brickset for sharing these instructions.
As you may have known already, the LEGO Disney Frozen 2 sets are currently available at LEGO Shop@Home alongside the release of the new LEGO Star Wars merchandise for Triple Force Friday. If you’re a LEGO Disney fan, then you’ll be glad to know that LEGO has thrown in a new gift-with-purchase (GWP) set for qualifying purchases of these new LEGO Disney sets. LEGO’s online store has added to its image cache the LEGO Disney Frozen 2 Olaf’s Traveling Sleigh (40361) which you can find below.
For those familiar with this LEGO Disney subtheme, the first thing that is noticeable about this GWP set is the inclusion of the newer minidoll version of Olaf that only comes in two particular LEGO Disney Frozen 2 sets: Enchanted Tree House (41164) and Anna’s Canoe Expedition (41165). So if you’re a fan of the comical snowman, then having this freebie added to your cart is a great incentive to get this new LEGO Disney sets.
Olaf’s Traveling Sleigh (40361) comes in at 97 pieces and also includes a mini sleigh, a small buildable Christmas tree and gift, lamp, and a storage box to place Olaf’s skiing accessories. I don’t see it yet on my shopping cart via LEGO Shop@Home, but since the set’s images have already been added to the online store’s database, then I guess it will just be a matter of time before you see this freebie listed. For now, you may want to delay your purchases a bit if you wish to get this free gift. Word on brick street has it that this free gift will be available from October 7 to 31 or until supplies last so I’ll keep a close eye on this one.
UPDATE: This promo is now currently live at LEGO Shop@Home, confirming our earlier announcement of its availability. You’ll get the Olaf’s Traveling Sleigh (40361) set for qualifying LEGO Disney Frozen purchases worth $50 and above starting today, October 7, until October 20 or when supplies last.
