Banana Guy Summer Minifigure (5005250) Now Available at Promo in LEGOLAND California

Good things do come to those who wait. Towards the end of last month LEGO new circles picked up on a new promotional minifigure, the Banana Guy, being available on LEGOLAND Billund. Further info revealed its product number (5005250), the promo procedure and its price value, plus some quality photos.

One thing these updates didn’t cover is whether or not Banana Guy (5005250) would be available in other markets, and if so, when. This latest bit of news would be very welcome, as it turns out the promotional minifigure has made it stateside. Eagle-eyed searchers found it at LEGOLAND California.

Here are the specifics: the LEGO promotional minifigure Banana Guy (5005250) is available to all annual pass holders of LEGOLAND California. All they need to do is spend at least $35 on their visit to the theme park and it’s theirs free, one for each holder of an annual pass.

The promo for this summer-themed minifigure will run for the rest of April. According to the news source, any Banana Guys (5005250) left afterwards will be sold over the counter for $5.99 apiece. That way, even non-annual pass holders have a chance at collecting it. It’s probably only a matter of time before the minifigure shows up over at Shop@Home.

A Closer Look At The LEGO Seasonal Banana Guy (5005250) Promotional Set

A view days ago, it came to our attention that LEGOLAND Billund is running a new promotional that coincides with the theme park’s 50th anniversary. So what better way to celebrate it than with the newest, coolest Banana Guy in town. Promo Bricks first spotted this latest LEGO seasonal collectible minifigure set via LEGOLAND’s promotional add, with the promise of a much closer look later on.

True to their word, Michael of Promo Bricks made a very comprehensive review of the LEGO Seasonal Banana Guy (5005250) set. The original text is written in German so be sure to have your Google Translate turned on if you’re browsing using Chrome. Here are some of closer images of this new Banana Guy minifigure courtesy of Promo Bricks. Be sure to check out their full review for a better appreciation of the set. I like how this newest iteration of one of LEGO’s most popular costumed minifig turned out, particularly the minifig’s tropical themed shirt, green pants, and flip flops. The legs are dual molded, while the torso has front and back prints which turned out nice. It comes with a single sided head print. The orange boom box accessory is also a nice addition to the set, giving this new minifig a more hip and chill out look. The box art itself further adds to that tropical feel with its festive juice bar display.

I do hope that this set lands on US shores and the rest of the globe. Thanks again to Promo Bricks for sharing these images, and be sure to stay tuned for more updates here in the Brick Show.

A Look At The LEGO Seasonal Banana Guy Promotional Minifigure From LEGOLAND Billund

A few days ago, we reported on a LEGOLAND Billund gift with purchase exclusive which is kind of a reiteration of the Banana Guy from LEGO’s Series 16 Collectible Minifigures. The exclusive promo were first spotted by the team of Promobricks who were at Billund at that time to join in the festivities of the theme park’s 50th anniversary.

This time around, Promobricks managed to snag a photo of the actual box art of the newest, coolest banana in town. The set is being called “Banana Guy” for now, as PromoBricks hasn’t given us a name or set number. As it implies, this a remake of the first Banana Guy from LEGO CMF Series 16, with color variations on its legs and torso, banana costume and printed flip-flops. His box is a tropical hut and he’s got a boom-box accessory as well.

Thus far, the only location the LEGO Seasonal Banana Guy promotional minifigure has been found is in Denmark, at LEGOLAND Billund. We have no word yet, stating where else it’s going to pop up. For now we can only wait.

Target Brings Back Chicken Suit Guy (5004468) Minifigure for Spring Promo

It’s an early Easter this 2018. (And it falls on April Fools, too!) We’ve already gotten a look at the Iconic Easter minifigure giveaway for this year, set 5005249 or the “Easter bunny costume guy”. But for those who missed one from past years, they might want to check Target.

A new spring promotion is being rolled out by Target, with a past Iconic Easter minifigure as the prize of sorts. This is the Chicken Suit Guy (5004468) that’s been a giveaway several times past. This time around, he’ll be available to Target shoppers purchasing LEGO sets with the REDCard.

Here’s how it goes. Shoppers on Target need to buy a minimum of $20 worth in selected LEGO sets by the retailer (this doesn’t include DUPLO or “Hard to Find” items). With the minimum purchase price and a REDCard, Chicken Suit Guy (5004468) will then be added to the cart.

Then again, if Target shoppers aren’t down with this spring promo, they can buy the 5004468 for $5.99 per piece. Do note however that, as an old minifigure, supplies of Chicken Suit Guy at Target stores will be limited. This promo ends next week on Saturday, March 24 11:59 PST.

Get the LEGO Year of the Dog (40235) for Free at LEGO Shop@Home.

Friday is the first day of the Year of the Dog in the Chinese Zodiac Calendar, and in China as well as countries with a significant Chinese community present, celebrations are starting to kick off as the world turns. Giveaways of good fortune symbols are going on as we speak. LEGO has its own Chinese New Year tradition, and it began when its factory in Jiaxing opened to cater to its growing Asian market. Since then, a special display set depicting the Chinese Zodiac Animal of the Year has been released, the latest being the LEGO Year of the Dog (40235).

LEGO Year of the Dog (40235) Seasonal Set

LEGO Year of the Dog (40235)

As already made known, this cute little guy is the first of the LEGO Chinese New Year sets to get an international release outside the Asian LEGO market. Collectors are sure to be drawn in, by its simple yet adorable design, which includes articulated ears and tail to pose, however.

40235 alt1 40235 alt2

Once February 16 hits, the seasonal LEGO Year of the Dog (40235) will be available on Shop@Home, exclusive through this special offer. For a minimum online purchase of $88, one box of this year’s Zodiac Animal will be added to your cart. This was pointed out by The Brick Fan, who notes that the $50 amount listed on the official LEGO Shop US site is a typo.

Note also that only one free set will be given to each household when buying online at Shop@Home. It’ll be up to you if the Chinese New Year Dog will be a gift to your own family members or to another.

The set box even comes with a LEGO yellow envelope similar to the traditional hóngbāo or red envelope, where you can tuck in a dedication message if you’d like. Remember that this offer is only from February 16 to 28, so get this piece of Chinese good fortune for 2018, while supplies last.

Exclusive LEGO Classic Walmart Sets Are Only Limited to 5,000 Copies Each.

Yesterday we touched on the fact that, less than a week after their initial introduction to buyers, two of the LEGO classic 60th Anniversary mini-build sets have already run out of stock on Wal-Mart, which carries them exclusively. The LEGO House (4000028) and Windmill (4000029) are now sold out online.

About the only recourse left for LEGO collectors who want these retro-sets would be to check at their nearest physical Wal-Mart stores. Some interested buyers have already put the question to LEGO Customer services on whether they might restock the classic sets on Wal-Mart. Their reply is not very encouraging.

According to a screenshot made by a discouraged LEGO fan via Reddit, LEGO was true to its marketing when they printed “Limited Edition” on the set boxes for House (4000028) and Windmill (4000029) sets – only 5,000 copies of each set were manufactured and offered to the public. Once they’re gone, that’ll be all there is to it.

That’s quite disheartening if you were looking to have a tangible piece of LEGO’s 60th Anniversary celebration to remember it by. Now all that’s left of the first two mini-build sets are lurking in scattered Wal-Mart stores, while some early buyers might resell on the secondary market at bloated prices.

4000030 1

Not all hope is lost, however. If you’re not going to be a LEGO set completionist, there’s still one more mini-build to watch out for: the Truck (4000030) coming out this Friday. You really need to strike while the iron is hot with this one. Good hunting!

LEGO BrickHeadz Seasonal Easter Bunny (40271) Available Now.

It’s the second month of 2018, two more months away from this year’s celebration of Easter (incidentally on the same day as April Fools, by the Western calendar reckoning). LEGO, as expected, has some nifty seasonal treats for fans, like the Iconic Easter Minifigure (5005249). But wait- there’s more, and in fact, we all have this coming since we saw the reveal of this year’s line-up of LEGO seasonal BrickHeadz.

After the announcement of the LEGO BrickHeadz Valentine’s Bee (40270),  the highly collectible BrickHeadz has revealed its next seasonal entry:  The LEGO Easter Bunny (40271). Check out the images of the BrickHeadz Easter Bunny, now uploaded via LEGO’s servers.

40271 alt1

The LEGO BrickHeadz Seasonal Easter Bunny (40271) is made out of 126 pieces and is priced at $9.99 like the rest of the line. Not all of the 126 pieces are needed for the main Bunny figure and its handheld accessories; some of the extra elements go into forming additional decorative builds.

That pattern of having little decors to go along with the primary BrickHeadz build was already done before in the Easter Bunny’s immediate predecessor, the Valentines Bee (40270). You recall its accompanying LEGO flowers? In the case of set 40271, the Bunny comes with little LEGO Easter Eggs.

This next seasonal BrickHeadz is now available both LEGO Stores and at LEGO Shop@Home.

Walmart To Offer LEGO 60th Anniversary Vintage Brick Sets.

2018 is the year to give thanks for six decades of LEGO; that’s in case you’ve forgotten. The LEGO Group, of course, is churning out one celebratory gesture after another. A 60-years Commemorative Set (40290)? Check. A special event at The Home of the Brick in Billund? Check, too.

But LEGO hasn’t even begun to bring out the sum total of their retro sets. Here’s a series of classic oldies that are going to be exclusive stock at Walmart. And when I say oldies I mean old, with the retro packaging and the most basic construction imaginable. Here are the first three announced.

4000028 1

First is the pretty basic and elementary House (4000028) set, all slim and perfect background material for any LEGO neighborhood setting, even if minifigures look quite large next to it.

4000029 1

Next is about a step up in complexity from the House (4000028) but still an iconic build: the Windmill (4000029).  It technically has two floors and bright red blades, easy to get an observer’s attention. Both this and set 4000028 will be exclusively available at Walmart for just $19.99 a box.

10715

There’s more though. As part of LEGO’s longtime retail partnership with Walmart, they’re offering this sweet promo. After buying the Bricks on a Roll (10715) retro pack shown above, a collector needs only to log on to the special anniversary website www.lego60th.com, upload a scan of their Walmart receipt for set 10715, and LEGO will send over a free collectible LEGO Booklet as well as building instructions for Bricks on a Roll in retro-style.

There’s no specification if online Walmart purchases count, or even if the promo has a deadline, but we’ll keep you updated, as always.

AFOLs Only: LEGO-Themed Pop-up Bars to Open in Australian Cities Late 2018.

Here’s a piece of LEGO news that skews rather towards grown-up, mature readers, from a certain point of view. If anybody ever told you that LEGO bricks and, of all things, booze might go quite well together, would you agree? That will be put to the test over in Australia.

The announcement just came recently, printed in Broadsheet Melbourne, regarding a series of pop-up bars where alcohol and LEGO are going to be “served” together as it were. Just for that, it’s obvious that the enterprise has no ties with the child-friendly LEGO Group, but adult builders might be delighted.

Legobar is a line of pop-up bars that will be opening for business in some of Australia’s major cities. According to the announcement, the establishment will be decorated with LEGO sculptures and models, as well as building elements that would be made generally available for the patrons to construct with.

a0d832bc024e9ca65e774623850fc2d6

An initial estimate of the number of LEGO bricks and other elements at each Legobar was given in a rather generous one million, and they will be available without charge to customers coming in to order a beer and anything else on the menu. Music would be provided by DJs.

Demi Montgomer, creative director of Legobar, gives a simple reason for the aesthetics of the place. “Everyone loves LEGO,” she says. “It’s nostalgic and this bar is designed to bring out the kid in all of us.” It makes for a quirky visual dichotomy: adults drinking alcohol and playing LEGO.

For Aussies (and perhaps tourists planning to travel down under this year), they can expect the Legobar pop-ups to open sometime in the autumn, in the following cities: Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane. Again, The LEGO Group has no connection with the pop-up bars. Good kids need not know about them.
