New LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley (75978) Set Arriving Very Soon

Here’s another delightfully unexpected news coming from the LEGO Harry Potter front. In what seems to be an accidental listing over at LEGO Shop@Home Japan portal (the said listing has been taken down as of this posting), eagle-eyed fans caught glimpse of what seems to be this year’s largest LEGO HP set. Coming in at more than 5,000 pieces, the new LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley (75978) set is slated to arrive soon.

10217
The LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley (10217) that was released back in 2011. The featured image used in this article is also from the box art of the said set.

If you recall back in 2011, LEGO has released it’s first, should I say, comprehensive rendition of the famous Harry Potter marketplace coming in at 2,025 pieces. This LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley (10217) consists of smaller brick builds of famous stores such as Ollivander’s, Borgin and Burke’s, and Gringott’s Bank. As impressive as this direct-to-consumer (D2C) set back during that year, there are still plenty of fascinating shops that we wish could have been included.

And after 9 years since its debut, it looks like we will be having our next LEGO version of this magical marketplace with an impressive piece count of 5,544 pieces.  We do not have official images yet of this set understandably, but based on its now removed listing, we can expect the following shops to be included in this set: Ollivanders Wand Shop, Flourish & Blotts bookseller, Scribbulus Writing Implements, Quality Quidditch Supplies, Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlor, The Daily Prophet, and my personal favorite Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes. Though it would be nice if LEGO included a rehashed version of Gringot’s for good measure, I think with 7 shops included in this modular set, I certainly don’t have any qualms against it.

Here’s what we can find from the now-taken down description of the new LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley (75978). This set is expected to have a whopping price tag of $399.99 and is intended for builders 16 years old and above. I wouldn’t be surprised though if LEGO will opt to include it under its 18+ collection given its piece count and retail price. Be sure to be on the lookout for LEGO’s official announcement which may happen any time soon. Hopefully, the release of this new brick version of Diagon Alley will be released alongside that of the upcoming LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigure Series 2 (71028) coming in September.

Special thanks also to The Brick Fan for the heads up.

LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures Series 2 (71028) Officially Revealed

LEGO has officially revealed its upcoming LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures Series 2 (71028) via its social media channels earlier today. Though this is not the first time that we saw this highly anticipated CMF series, it’s nice that LEGO has removed the embargo on these collectible minifigures allowing us a better appreciation of what to expect from them.

Take a closer look at each of them as posted over on Facebook.

Missing from these images are those from the minifig versions of Lily and James Potter. They were probably left out unintentionally so I’m pretty sure that LEGO will issue an update very soon.

Needless to say, there are plenty of new and interesting pieces that are included in these series. On top of my list is that new and lovely Fawkes figure that comes with Dumbledore, the Sword of Gryffindor included with Griphook, Neville’s Book of Monsters, and those exquisite Butterbeer glasses. These LEGO pieces are very much desirable next to their minifigure counterparts if I may say so.

All in all, there are a total of 16 characters to collect, with 60 blind bags included in one entire box. It was also reported that the complete box of the LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigure Series 2 (71028) may also follow a pre-determined sorting arrangement similar to its predecessor. Additionally, it looks like LEGO steered away from the idea of offering a sort of a chase minifigure in this series. I believe this is a good move from LEGO since this will allow more completionist fans to enjoy their complete collection of LEGO Harry Potter figures without resorting to those ridiculous aftermarket prices set by scalpers.

The LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures Series 2 (71028) is expected to arrive in LEGO Stores and over at LEGO Shop@Home this September, retailing for $4.99 per blind bag. And in case you missed out on the previous LEGO HP CMF Series 1 and other LEGO CMF series for that matter, I recommend that you check out what Collectible Minifigs has to offer.

Which LEGO HP character are you most excited about in this upcoming Series 2? Let us know in the comments below.

Take a Look at the LEGO Harry Potter CMF Series 2 (71028) Package Insert

Earlier this month, we had a fairly good grasp of what to expect from LEGO’s next Collectible Minifigure Series. Though the LEGO Harry Potter CMF Series 2 (71028) is still slated to be released in September, it seems that some retailers are already pushing for its sale as early as now. This is what Promobricks eventually discovered as they went out of their way to track down what probably could be the very first retailer that sold this highly anticipated minifig series. Their hunt eventually led them to Romania where local supermarket chain Carrefour, had the LEGO CMF series put on sale already.

And since this is a legally acquired product, all is fair when Promobricks posted its full package insert, showing all the 16 characters in the series. Take a look at what to expect from its blind bag insert.

LEGO Harry Potter CMF Series 2

Looking at the above checklist, we can now have a better look at each of the characters included in the LEGO Harry Potter CMF Series 2 (71028). Beginning with:

  1. Harry Potter with the Book of Potions
  2. Albus Dumbledore with Fawkes the phoenix (this latest version of Fawkes is a must-have!)
  3. Hermione Granger with a glass of butterbeer accessory (this is a new-for-2020 element)
  4. Ron Weasley with a glass of butterbeer accessory.
  5. Luna Lovegood with a lion topped hat accessory as first seen in the Order of Phoenix.
  6. Griphook with the Sword of Gryffindor and a vault key. These are new LEGO elements as well.
  7. Lily Potter with Baby Harry
  8. James Potter with a printed tile showing a portrait of him and Lily.
  9. Ginny Weasley in her Slug Club dress outfit, and what looks like to be a new chocolate sundae accessory. This minifigure is a reference to the Slug Club’s Christmas Party.
  10. Fred Weasley with a cap accessory and his signature Weasley’s Wizarding Wheezes case. The case itself seems to carry two unique 1×1 printed tiles based on the leaflet.
  11. George Weasley with a similar cap like that of Fred’s and the famous Marauder’s Map
  12. Bellatrix Lestrange in her Azkaban prisoner’s outfit, handcuffs, and prison ID as a new printed tile.
  13. Kingsley Shacklebolt with broom accessory. The purple color scheme for his robes is visually appealing.
  14. Moaning Myrtle with Tom Riddle’s Diary. The diary also features a unique 1×2 printed tile.
  15. Professor Pomona Sprout with a mandrake and flower pot
  16. Neville Longbottom with a Book of Monsters.

I’m pretty sure that this 2nd Series of LEGO Harry Potter CMF is winning the hearts of fans already. I also appreciate the fact that there is no chase minifig in this series, unlike the first where we have LEGO throwing in just one minifig of Percival Graves/Gellert Grindelwald in each box of 60 blind bags. It is also yet to be seen if this next Series will also follow a similar, pre-determined sorting per box as we’ve discovered from the first LEGO Harry Potter CMF Series (71022).

The LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigure Series 2 (71028) is scheduled to arrive in LEGO Stores and at LEGO Shop@Home on September 1st, and is expected to retail for $4.99 per blind bag.

Check Out These New LEGO 18+ Sets and More Available Now

Its August 1st, and it can only mean that more LEGO sets are now put on display at your local brand LEGO store (in case they’re now open) and over at LEGO Shop@Home. And this month, it seems that LEGO has the adult fan community in mind when it launched its impressive wave of LEGO 18+ sets, catering to the more discerning LEGO hobbyist in mind.

Since LEGO began introducing its 18+ sets branding with the LEGO Star Wars Helmet Collection, the LEGO Group made it a point to offer larger, more sophisticated sets to the AFOL (Adult Fans of LEGO) community. And since then, we’ve seen a steady increase of sets representing each of LEGO’s current themes.

Just to be sure that everything is covered though, LEGO has also released other sets intended for all ages coming from its various licensed and homegrown themes. With 55 new sets offered this month (as per Brickset’s count), I’m pretty sure there is something that will catch your fancy. We have a handful of new sets coming from other LEGO themes such as Star Wars, Super Mario, Harry Potter, Technic, Friends, City, Ninjago, Hidden Side and my personal favorite, Monkie Kid. Take note that depending on your region, some of these sets might still be released on a later date.

Check out these LEGO 18+ sets now available at LEGO’s online shopping portal. And if you wish to add them to your LEGO must-have list for this month, be kind enough to click on the following affiliate links below to support our work here in The Brick Show. Read on and happy building!

All LEGO Harry Potter CMF Series 2 (71028) Characters Revealed

A couple of months ago, we managed to share a partial listing of what to expect from the upcoming LEGO Harry Potter CMF Series 2 (71028) where we looked at an initial roster of who’s who in this anticipated Collectible Minifigure Series. And if you’re closely following the trail of virtual bread crumbs (aka leaks) on this CMF series on social media, you probably have an idea on what to expect from this follow-up licensed series. Same as before, we’re not allowed to post its images here, but if don’t mind some spoilers then just go ahead and navigate your way through Google or Instagram.

In the meantime, read on to know what you can expect from the LEGO Harry Potter CMF Series 2 (71028). For starters, what we’re sure of is the fact that LEGO already confirmed its arrival in September, and that there’s a total of 16 Harry Potter characters to collect from this series. Here’s a brief description of each of the characters included, as they appear in the series’ minifigure checklist.

  1. Harry Potter with Advanced Potion-Making book.
  2. Professor Albus Dumbledore as seen from the Chamber of Secrets, together with a new (and far better) LEGO version of Fawkes the phoenix.
  3. Hermione Granger with a butterbeer glass accessory and striped clothing.
  4. Ron Weasley with a similar butterbeer glass accessory and striped shirt.
  5. Luna Lovegood with a new lion hat accessory (unlike that from the lion costume from TLM2 CMF 71023).
  6. Griphook in his Gringotts outfit, and an interesting new Sword of Gryffindor piece.
  7. Lily Potter with a Baby Harry Potter figure in contrast to that Baby Voldemort figure that came with the LEGO Harry Potter The Rise of Voldemort (75965) set from last year.
  8. James Potter holding what seems to be a 2×4 printed tile depicting the couple’s photo.
  9. Ginny Weasley on her Slug Club dress outfit during the club’s Christmas Party. This minifigure version also has a sort of wine glass accessory.
  10. Fred Weasley with a cap accessory and what looks to be his signature Weasley’s Wizarding Wheezes case. It will surely be nice if the case comes out as a printed piece.
  11. George Weasley with a similar cap accessory and the iconic Marauder’s Map.
  12. Bellatrix Lestrange in her Azkaban outfit, handcuffs, and prison ID.
  13. Kingsley Shacklebolt with broom accessory. The cap and the robe is a nice touch for this minifigure.
  14. Moaning Myrtle with Tom Riddle’s diary.
  15. Professor Pomona Sprout with a mandrake figure.
  16. Neville Longbottom in school robes (unlike that from 71022) with a Book of Monsters figure.

What we can also confirm is that the LEGO Harry Potter CMF Series 2 (71028) will also come with the same angled bar with stud pieces that were first introduced in the LEGO DC Super Heroes CMF (71026).  As you may know already,  this particular piece allows for some dynamic posing of the minifigures when they are placed on their respective stands.

Since the LEGO Harry Potter CMF Series 2 is slated to be released next month, then we can expect some news from LEGO anytime soon. Similar to previous offerings, we can expect each blind bag to be retailed at $4.99 each. We’ll give you more updates such as box distribution and other details once they are available.

Thanks to Stonewars for the heads up.

A First Look at LEGO BrickHeadz Hagrid and Buckbeak (40412)

LEGO has a new surprise for its LEGO Harry Potter fans. Thanks to Hungarian online store Kockashop, we now have our first look at the upcoming LEGO BrickHeadz Hagrid and Buckbeak (40412). If you recall, we first mentioned this set back in January as part of LEGO’s repertoire of 2020 BrickHeadz offerings.

LEGO BrickHeadz Hagrid and Buckbeak

Coming in at 270 pieces, this latest BrickHeadz duo is LEGO’s 5th Harry Potter offering under this collectible theme. The set features a brick-built Hagrid with a lantern and umbrella accessory (which happens to Hagrid’s favorite umbrella by the way). Buckbeak, being the hippogrif as he is, comes in a four-legged brick version that cleverly retains all the features of a typical BrickHeadz build. I like how LEGO designers reimagined Hagrid’s look especially the way his hair was shaped in this set and the emphasis on Buckbeak’s signature white plumage and characteristic front legs.

Here’s a rough Google translation (with some editing) of Kockashop’s product description of this set.

LEGO BricHeadz Hagrid and Buckbeak (40412)

270 pieces | Expected retail price: $19.99

LEGO BrickHeadz Hagrid and Buckbeak 40412 2

The LEGO BrickHeadz  Hagrid and Buckbeak (40412) is a magical gift for fans of Harry Potter movies and collectors of BrickHeadz models. Hagrid is unmistakable with his big black hair, long brown coat, lantern in one hand, and his favorite pink umbrella in the other. Buckbeak has distinctive white plumage from the top of the head to the beak. Both collectible characters stand on a durable baseplate, making them perfect for both play and decoration.

This next Harry Potter themed BrickHeadz set is not yet listed at LEGO Shop@Home but I’ll update this post once they make their debut in LEGO’s online shopping portal. As I mentioned, this latest LEGO BrickHeadz Harry Potter offering follows other sets in the theme such as:

The abovementioned sets are now practically retired, and if in case you’ve still missed out on these sets, you may try clicking on these Amazon affiliate links if you still need to add them to your LEGO Harry Potter collection.

Special thanks to Bouwsteentjes for the heads up.

LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures Series 2 (71028) Coming in September

Since its launch back in August 2018, the LEGO Harry Potter CMF (71022) has proved itself popular among LEGO HP fans, with most sharing the same sentiment that a follow-up series is long overdue.  There have been rumors circulating online that another CMF series dedicated to the magical theme is now in the works. And this time it seems that LEGO has finally confirmed its arrival. From the looks of it, we can now expect the LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures Series 2 (71028) starting September.

The news of the upcoming LEGO HP CMF Series 2 has been hinted upon by LEGO itself through its recently released digital catalogs. What is interesting is that though virtually all regional versions of the catalogs mention a new CMF series in September, the Australian version of the LEGO catalog points it out to be 71028.

71028 confirmed

Though it may be pointed out that the catalog listing does not in any way mention 71028 to be a Harry Potter-themed CMF, leaks as early as last month show it to be otherwise. I’m not in the liberty of showing these images here, but a cursory search over at Instagram for example will show you the way – that is if you don’t bother looking at spoilers. What we can determine from this reveal by LEGO is the fact that the LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigure Series 2 (71028) is the next CMF to be released this year and we can expect it to be in stores by September.

In case you missed it, here’s what you can expect from this upcoming CMF. Take note that there are a total of 16 minifigs to collect in this series, and the following are just some of the characters that we know so far:

  • Professor Pomona Sprout with mandrake
  • Luna Lovegood with new lion hat accessory (unlike that from the lion costume from TLM2 CMF 71023)
  • Professor Albus Dumbledore  as seen from the Chamber of Secrets, together with our first most recent LEGO version of Fawkes
  • Kingsley Shacklebolt with broom accessory
  • Neville Longbottom in school robes (unlike that from 71022) with a Book of Monsters figure
  • Bellatrix Lestrange in her Azkaban outfit, and newspaper accessory
  • Harry Potter with Advanced Potion-Making book
  • Moaning Myrtle
  • Griphook in his Gringotts outfit

So what do you think of the new LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures Series 2 (71028)? Let me know in the comments below.  Special thanks to the Brickfinder for the heads up.

New LEGO Summer 2020 Minifigure Packs Arriving in June

There are lots of new LEGO sets expected to arrive next month, and LEGO has unveiled a pair of new LEGO summer 2020 minifigure packs slated to arrive in June. Almost all of LEGO’s themes are getting additional sets this summer, and some of its licensed sets such as those coming from the LEGO Harry Potter and Marvel Super Heroes themes will be getting their minifigure packs as well.

It has now been customary for LEGO to offer it’s licensed themes additional minifigure packs. If you recall from the previous years, LEGO has introduced its licensed minifigure packs such as the LEGO DC Super Heroes Knightmare Batman Accessories Set (853744) from 2018 and the LEGO Marvel Spider-Man and the Museum Break-In (40343) minifigure pack from last year. And for 2020, Brickset has revealed that we can now expect another pair of minifigure packs to add to our collection.

These new LEGO summer 2020 minifigure packs feature a LEGO Marvel Avengers Falcon and the Black Widow Minifigure Pack (40418) and a LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Students Minifigure Pack (40419) – both of which are slated to arrive in June both in-store and online at LEGO Shop@Home.  The Falcon and Black Widow minifig pack include two new versions of the iconic Marvel superheroes. This newer version of Falcon sports a pair of brick-built pair of wings, while Black Widow gets her sixth minifigure version. Included in this pack are two additional AIM agents similar to those seen in the upcoming LEGO Marvel summer 2020 sets, plus a 1×1 round stud shooter.

LEGO Summer 2020 Minifigure Packs

The Harry Potter Hogwarts Students minifigure pack features an interesting mix of characters coming from each house of Hogwart’s School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It includes Harry Potter, Draco Malfoy, Hannah Abbot, and Cho Chang. As Brickset points out, this is the second minifig rendition of Cho Chang, the first being that from the first LEGO Harry Potter CMF (71022). This set also includes a small bookcase, a few wizardry artifacts, and a uniquely printed tile that features a Marauder’s Map.

LEGO Summer 2020 Minifigure Packs

As of this posting, only the LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Students minifigure pack is listed at LEGO’s European shopping portals, with both of these new LEGO summer 2020 minifigure packs still waiting to be seen in LEGO Shop@Home in the US. However, we can expect these to appear anytime soon, so be sure to keep an eye on them.

Besides these two, fans are also excited about the arrival of the LEGO Star Wars 501st Legion™ Clone Troopers (75280). Though this does not exactly qualify as a minifigure pack, having this elite unit from the Clone Wars rendered as an official LEGO set is something that LEGO Star Wars fans have been wishing for a very long time.

Be sure to check with LEGO Shop@Home during the next few days to catch these new LEGO summer 2020 minifigure packs. I’ll also update this post once the links go live,  so you may want to bookmark our blog site as well.

Thanks again to Huw of Brickset for sharing these images.

Read on for LEGO’s full press release, and check out the following official images of these LEGO Harry Potter summer 2020 sets – all six of them! You may also click on the following affiliate links below if you wish to add them to your LEGO wishlist.
