Marvel “Spidey and His Amazing Friends” Tie-In Sets Now Listed on LEGO.com

While product listings by LEGO online are definitive sources of “new set” details, it never hurts to gain advanced info. These earlier-than-official peeks can be found sometimes at retailers around the world, especially if they have websites. Sometimes all we get are names, numbers and possible SRP, but knowing ahead of LEGO’s reveals has advantages. For example, two weeks ago we saw the first images of several LEGO Marvel tie-ins from a German retailer. They’re for the “Spidey and His Amazing Friends” animated series. Now, LEGO has listed the same items online according to The Brick Fan, but we have faces to the details.

Now’s no better time than any to review what we know of these “Spidey and His Amazing Friends” sets. At age 4+, they’re perfect for the young audience of that superhero animated show on Disney Junior. Let’s have a look at the official LEGO entries:

LEGO Finally Makes Spider-Man Art Print (5007043) Available on VIP Rewards

Back in September, LEGO teased a series of art prints that could be availed of through their VIP program. Of the four prints, three depicted the Disney Princesses Rapunzel, Elsa and Belle. The fourth was a LEGO Marvel art print featuring Spider-Man. Following the reveal, the LEGO Disney Princess prints got packed into a special set bundle (5007204) for LEGO.com UK. That was in addition to being available on LEGO VIP’s Rewards the normal way. But for some reason the Marvel Spider-Man art print didn’t follow them to the latter as intended. Was it cancelled?

The Brick Fan says no. Be informed that the LEGO Spider-Man Comic art print (5007043) can now be redeemed at the VIP Rewards Center. If you need a refresher, this print shows LEGO Spider-Man rescuing J. Jonah Jameson from the super-villain-besieged Daily Bugle. Yep, it’s pretty much an artsy rendition of the epic LEGO Marvel 18+ set, Daily Bugle (76178). Considering what transpired this past weekend, we might understand why LEGO held off on launching this print with the Disney Princesses. It neatly piggybacks on the premiere hype of the MCU’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” which released on December 17.

5007043 1

Even better, LEGO VIP members only need 450 VIP points to redeem this print from the Rewards Center. We’re talking 200 points less than for the Princesses’ art prints. About the only shortcoming we might find is that no LEGO bundles for the Spider-Man print and Daily Bugle (76178) exist. The aforementioned LEGO Marvel set is also temporarily out of stock at LEGO.com at present. But hey: LEGO-Marvel fan? Are you VIP program member too? Then what are you waiting for? Get this sweet print.

New Upcoming “Spider-Man: No Way Home” LEGO Polybag: Spider-Man Bridge Battle (30443)

So, by now the latest MCU film “Spider-Man: No Way Home” has been in cinemas since Friday last week. You’ll get no spoilers here, this being a LEGO news site after all. What we can share however is news relating to the MCU in terms of merchandise. We’re talking of course about the LEGO tie-ins. Yes, the set tie-ins have been around since seemingly forever by now, with LEGO.com listing them back in July. Still, with the actual movie’s premiere, there must be something new appearing in its wake. We know because Brickset reports that there is one new item.

30443 1

It’s only a polybag, and despite being branded “Spider-Man: No Way Home” it actually references the preceding film. Spider-Man: Bridge Battle (30443) depicts Peter Parker/Spidey taking on a Stark Industries drone hi-jacked by Quentin Beck/Mysterio. It’s only the Web-head and the drone, with Spider-Man using the nameplate of London’s Tower Bridge as a shield. He’ll need it too, as the Stark drone packs a pair of stud-shooters and isn’t afraid to use them. Thus far, the polybag’s existence comes only from the LEGO.com Building Instructions page. Much like the other LEGO polybags revealed earlier, we know nothing else save that they’ll arrive in 2022.

Please do however enjoy the images of LEGO Spider-Man: Far from Home, Spider-Man Bridge Battle (30443). They’re courtesy of Promobricks, which has been helping out greatly with these 2022 polybag reveals. Now we can’t help wonder if more LEGO Spider-Man goodies will come by, even with all the big sets around.

Marvel/Disney’s “Spidey and His Amazing Friends” LEGO Tie-Ins Coming 2022

This year, Marvel Entertainment premiered a new animated series featuring iconic superhero Spider-Man on Disney Junior. “Spidey and His Amazing Friends” saw Peter Parker/Spidey go on light-hearted superhero adventures. With him are Miles Morales (also Spider-Man in comics, “Spin” here) and Gwen Stacy/Ghost-Spider. Age-appropriateness aside, “Spidey” proved popular enough on Disney Junior, Disney Channel and Disney+, to get a second season approved. Being a younger-viewer animated series, “Spidey” didn’t seem a high priority for LEGO Marvel sets. The ones coming out are more all-ages anyway. But that LEGO-merch drought has ended. “Spidey and His Amazing Friend” are getting LEGO sets.

The Brick Fan reports that German retailer JB Spielwaren got the first scoop on the upcoming “Spidey” LEGO tie-ins. They actually got it first before LEGO.com has even listed them. No less than four action-adventure set await fans of “Spidey and His Amazing Friends.” And they’re not the only characters getting represented. Even their super-villain foes and heroic allies are in on the fun too.

LEGO Marvel Mech Armors 2022 Delisted (Cancelled?)

Some announced upcoming LEGO sets generate heavy anticipation from collectors that news of delays or outright cancellations can be disheartening. We’ve got an example of set cancellation this week with the second Holiday seasonal GWP for Black Friday. It’s unfortunate for Mr. and Mrs. Claus’ Living Room (40489). But apparently that wasn’t the end of it. Last month we had a peek at what to expect for LEGO Marvel in 2022. Three sets of LEGO Marvel Mech Armors were due to launch in January 1. As you may have surmised, that’s not happening according to Brickset, quite possibly at all.

Brickset reports that they didn’t receive samples set of Mech Armors Wolverine (76202), Iron Man (76203) and Black Panther (76204). While that meant they couldn’t do their early reviews, it also alerted them to related speculation elsewhere. Recall how Mr. and Mrs. Claus’ Living Room (40489) GWP was cancelled by LEGO due to “failed quality standards.” Apparently the same goes for these LEGO Marvel Mech Armor sets. Brickset even posits the possible design flaw. On our banner page above, examine Iron Man’s Mech Armor. The hip joints are 1×1 plates, and those are easily twisted with repeated use and motions.

The situation of these delisted LEGO Marvel sets is ambiguous at present. LEGO hasn’t clarified if the sets are just being held back for redesign, or completely cancelled. Thankfully the fourth known January 1 LEGO Marvel set doesn’t seem to be affected. We can still look forward to the buildable Infinity Saga Iron Man Figure (76206) this coming New Year.

First 2022 LEGO Marvel Sets Revealed

Not all LEGO rumors turn out exactly as they’re first leaked out. Either the speculation gives some vague description in lieu of names, or the given names turn out wrong. The latter happened with the Creator Expert Pickup Truck (10290), earlier rumored as the “Back to the Future” DeLorean. The former scenario just played out with certain LEGO Marvel rumors we first covered back in September. As you can check back in our article, they were just “Marvel Classic” sets. Well, LEGO officially listed these products online. It turns out three of these items are new Marvel Mech Armor sets.

Check out these new LEGO Marvel Mech Armors coming our way on January 1, 2022:

LEGO Lands Multiple Nominations in 2022 Toy of the Year Awards

Every year the Toy Association honors the best products in the industry through its annual Toy of the Year Awards. It doesn’t take a follower of these events to know that LEGO is a regular nominee and awardee here. Being one of the biggest toy brands in modern history is a perk in itself. Furthermore, many of the sets they release year after year deserve nominations and wins. The 2022 Toy of the Year Awards is no exception. Of the 16 possible categories, LEGO has representation in at least eight. Some of these categories even have multiple LEGO nominees.

Here are LEGO’s 2022 nominated products:

It’s amazing that one set from LEGO’s misfiring Vidiiyo theme also made it in. Then again, that would be the Toy Association’s call. Maybe the accolade (and a possible award) may reinvigorate interest in the Vidiyo line. Who can tell? Anyway, we wish LEGO’s 2022 Toy of the Year Award nominees the best of luck.

LEGO Marvel 2022 Rumor: Hulkbuster Mk-II?

LEGO collectors of themes based on licensed IPs usually have a good sense of what sets to expect per franchise. With LEGO Marvel the focus tends to go on big vehicles. Character-wise, Tony Star/Iron Man can be counted on to have sets centered on him. Powered armors do make for lots of brick-building potentials. Speaking of Iron Man’s armors, you can look no further than Stark’s Hulkbuster. This armor-for-an-armor specializes in tackling Hulk-sized problems, as seen in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. That Hulkbuster was given the LEGO treatment back in 2018 with the introduction of the  LEGO Marvel Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition (76105). And apparently, a new LEGO Hulkbuster is probably coming by next year in the likes of the Hulkbuster Mk-II

We have another LEGO rumor to speculate on courtesy of Promobricks. As hinted above, LEGO’s apparently planning a new Hulkbuster set for their Marvel Super Heroes line. This one will be based on the Iron Man Mk-XLVIII armor, aka the Hulkbuster Mk-II. Where the first Hulkbuster was in the “Age of Ultron” movie, this one’s from Avengers: Infinity War (2018). Ironically, Iron Man himself never uses this Hulkbuster in the film. Instead Bruce Banner – at the time unable to “Hulk-out” – commandeers the armor for the Battle of Wakanda. The buster Mk-II boasts different weapons load-outs.

Promobricks’ rumor details have this LEGO Marvel Hulkbuster Mk-II at 50-60cm [twice larger than the Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition (76105)]. It also gets an info plaque for the base, a collector’s badge and Tony Stark minifig. But other than that the rumored upcoming set has fewer extras than 76105. With an alleged 2,500+ pieces and a €200-250/$231.70-289.62 price, the set’s due for 2022. Now, remember that this is still rumor, and LEGO has plenty of time to confirm or debunk it.

Walmart Lists LEGO Marvel Mech Armor 3-in-1 Pack (66671)

The best parts about Marvel, whether from the comic books or the MCU, are the characters themselves. Translate that to LEGO and you get…minifigures. But since LEGO is about building stuff that means we’ve been getting cool vehicles and location sets too. Then LEGO hit on a combination of character and building, resulting in the Marvel Mech Armor sets released since 2019. If you missed out on these and want to get a head start in collecting, Walmart’s got it covered. According to Brick Fanatics they have a nice multi-set package of LEGO Marvel Mech Armor for any late-start collectors.

Here is Walmart’s online listing for the LEGO Marvel Mech Armor Collection 3-in-1 Pack (66671). This pack combines the Mech Armor sets for Captain America (76168), Thor (76169) and Miles Morales Spider-Man (76171). At just over 100 pieces per solo set, the 3-in-1 comes down to 385 pieces total. That makes the bundle price of $39.99 just right. Young LEGO builders also get three Marvel superheroes at once, making it a deal that can’t be beat. We at The Brick Show don’t know if this LEGO Marvel Mech Armor Collection (66671) will become available outside Walmart. But until then now you can find it there.

Rumor of New Buildable Iron Man Set for LEGO Marvel Infinity Saga Series Coming Next Year

From something already confirmed, let’s return for a bit to the rumors related to LEGO. With 2021 winding down, speculation turns to what’s coming next year. LEGO Marvel apparently has nothing to worry about in terms of set representation. The MCU continuously releasing movies and Disney+ streaming series guarantees LEGO making more tie-ins. One subtheme slowly coming to prominence is the Infinity Saga, spanning from 2008’s “Iron Man” film to 2019’s “Avengers: Engdame.” Our rumor, gleaned from social media by way of Brick Fanatics, speaks of a buildable figure set celebrating the first MCU hero.

According to lego_club_news on Instagram, LEGO might be rolling out a buildable Iron Man figure for 2022. Specifically, the build depicts the Mark 42 armor used by Tony Stark in 2015’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” Lego_club_news even posted details such as the set number (76202) and its $39.99 unit price. If true, this Marvel Infinity War Iron Man buildable set will be the second LEGO released. The previous, LEGO Hero Factory Iron Man (4529) turns 10 years old in 2022. One can’t help but feel this is a milestone rollout with a more-developed new product.

With that, we give the usual disclaimer that this social media post is a rumor and remains so until confirmed. To review, here are the current LEGO Marvel Infinity Saga sets:

  1. Black Panther: Dragon Flyer (76186)
  2. Captain America and Hydra Face-Off (76189),
  3. Iron Man: Iron Monger Mayhem (76190)
  4. Infinity Gauntlet (76191)
  5. Avengers: Endgame Final Battle (76192)
  6. The Guardians’ Ship (76193)
  7. Bro Thor’s New Asgard (76200)
