Rumors of More New Big (and Pricey) LEGO Marvel Sets for 2022

Even as a new LEGO Marvel set officially launched at the start of March, more products are on the way. The once believed-cancelled latest Mech Armors will debut next month, alongside new Brick Sketches sets.  And those are only for the confirmed upcoming arrivals. On the rumor front, we have some numbers and product details speculated late last February. Their alleged prices range from mid-grade to a 3-digit quotation for a new Sanctum Sanctorum (76218). And if this new LEGO Marvel rumor from social media checks out, we have more arriving, including another epic set.

As told by Brick Fanatics, some additional LEGO Marvel sets are believed coming later this year. Instagram user brick_clicker provides at least three numbers and product descriptions. One of them is actually the (apparently modular) Sanctum Sanctorum (76218) we mentioned earlier, priced $209.99.

The other two additions are more 3-digit price sets. In fact, the values provided makes the new Sanctum Sanctorum look rather affordable. Now, brick_clicker notes that he made a mistake in the LEGO set number-description pairing, as outlined in the caption. We’ll lay out the further details on these Marvel builds here:

  • 76210Unconfirmed; believed to be either Avengers Tower or Helicarrier, $499.99
  • Hulk-Buster (76215)more or less 2,500 pieces, $299.99

Yep, we’re probably getting a new Avengers Tower or Helicarrier sometime in 2022 for around $500. That could put the size of the build anywhere between the Titanic (10294) and UCS AT-AT (75313). Now that’s an acquisition for the Age 18+ LEGO collector. That said, the above info must be considered rumor for now until LEGO officially opens up about them.

LEGO Brick Sketches for Marvel Now Listed Online

Not even the pandemic will slow LEGO down when it comes to making new sets. In fact, it was during 2020 when LEGO introduced a new art-oriented theme line. Where LEGO Art sets comprise plentiful colored tiles on a baseplate, Brick Sketches uses conventional flat pieces. There’re still plenty of contours on them to give the completed brick-built portraits a 3D-like relief effect. Several Brick Sketches sets debuted these past two years, featuring characters from DC and Disney. Now, LEGO is gearing to launch two new additions to the line. This time they’re featuring familiar faces among Marvel Super Heroes.

According to German LEGO news source Stone Wars, we can expect two new LEGO Brick Sketches sets come April. They were officially listed on LEGO Shop online earlier this month. Quite tellingly, they depict the faces of two key film franchises on cinematic Marvel. One’s from the now-massive MCU focused on the Avengers, while the other is from Sony-Columbia’s separate Spider-Man projects. Expect these two sets next month and collect them both if you’re an artistically inclined LEGO Marvel fan.

LEGO Marvel Attack on New Asgard (76207) Spotted on Sale at Turkey Before Launch

For March 1, as we’ve just gone through earlier, only one LEGO Marvel set launched this Tuesday. It’s understandable though; the next MCU film isn’t until later in May. Furthermore, production and release delays have sort of thrown off the sync of movie premieres and tie-in merchandise launches. That would explain why the next LEGO Marvel set we know, The Boat Goat (76208), is coming in late April. As you know, it ties into “Thor: Love and Thunder” which premieres in July. “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” comes before it (the May release). Also, The Goat Boat isn’t the only “Thor: L&T” set.

We’ve learned from Stone Wars that there’s another LEGO Marvel “Thor: Love and Thunder” tie-in coming out soon. It’s supposed to launch at the same time as The Goat Boat (76208). But again, a store jumped the gun and put it on their shelves. And not just any outlet; it’s the LEGO Store attached to Istanbul Airport in Turkey. This was spotted by Instagram user the.brick.wolf, as early as last week Friday, February 25. So here we have it: the set called “Attack on New Asgard” (76207) which features a buildable giant monster and minifigures.

As with Goat Boat, this LEGO Marvel set illustrates the main plot draw of “Thor: Love and Thunder.” Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), love interest of Thor Odinson (Chris Hemsworth), gains his power as God of Thunder. This did happen for a time at Marvel Comics. It also foreshadows the return of Thor’s hammer Mjolnir, destroyed in “Thor: Ragnarok” and “time-borrowed” during “Avengers: Endgame.” Mjolnir is now used by Jane/Mighty Thor while Thor retains the Stormbreaker axe. The sets also feature main villain Gorr the God-Butcher. Expect LEGO Marvel 76207 and 76208 to officially launch on April 26.

Huge March 1 LEGO Set Launch Recap

Hey, it’s the first day of the month once again. March 1, 2022. By this point the New Year must no longer feel so new. Before we go off track however, we’ll get right down to what this update is about: first-day LEGO product launches. We certainly enjoyed covering these sets when they first officially came out. And like before, for your easy reference we’re collecting their LEGO.com product listings together here. Our big thanks again to The Brick Fan for any March 1-releasing LEGO product we may have missed. Also linked are our past articles, if we caught them.

More LEGO Marvel Sets Rumored Coming Mid-2022

The 2022 launch timetable for the LEGO Marvel theme line has been filling up rather nicely. We’ve already seen some of these sets when they came out on New Year’s Day. More will also arrive later on, as early as this Tuesday, March 1. It’s to be expected given that the MCU film series will never brake for anything, at least not for long. Even then, mixed in with the movie tie-ins are sets celebrating the MCU installments of the past. At least, that’s what the rumored upcoming LEGO Marvel sets seem to indicate name-wise.

Thanks to German LEGO news source Stone Wars, we have at least three more 2022 LEGO Marvel set rumored coming. Of them, one at least might count as a tie-in for an MCU Phase 4 film. The rest appear to be callbacks to the “Infinity Saga” that spanned MCU Phase 1 to 3. LEGO’s done a lot of that since “Avengers: Endgame” in 2019. Apparently, the new set based on Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum will be a modular thing too. Stone Wars also gives us likely product specs and release dates for these sets, so there’s that. We have to consider them rumors for now, but hopefully LEGO will tell us more, officially, sometime soon

  • 76216 – Iron Man Hall of Armor (Age 7+, 496 pieces, 8 minifigures, €89.99, June 2022)
  • 76217 – Buildable(?) Baby Groot (Age 10+, 476 pieces, €49.99, June 2022)
  • 76218 – Sanctum Sanctorum (Age 18+, 2,708 pieces, 9 minifigures minimum, €219.99, August 2022) for “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” perhaps?

Other upcoming LEGO Marvel sets we know include The Goat Boat (76208) for “Thor: Love and Thunder.” There’s also Spider-Man & Green Goblin Mech Battle (76219). Both of these sets will launch in April 1.

“Thor: Love and Thunder” LEGO Marvel Set “The Goat Boat” (76208) Now Listed

The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues its epic storytelling on both cinemas and streaming. MCU Phase 4 boasts an even greater number of content as a result, with films and Disney+ series churning out despite pandemic-related delays. Still, the delays have done their work in throwing timetables out of alignment. Take for example “Thor: Love and Thunder,” premiering from Marvel Studios July. Rescheduling bumped it from earlier releases ranging from November 2021 to this May. As a result, it’s coming out later than its tie-in merchandise from LEGO. One set has been listed on LEGO Shop according to The Brick Fan.

LEGO Marvel’s first “Thor: Love and Thunder” set is the hilariously-named Goat Boat (76208). As the name suggests, this tie-in depicts an Asgardian longboat being pulled by two goats. There’s some actual Norse Myth stuff in that setup. But the real attention-grabbers are the accompanying minifigures. We get Thor of course, alongside established allies “King” Valkyrie and Korg. Still, collectors will want this set for the Mighty Thor minifig. That’s the female Thor with Mjolnir, actually Thor’s ex Jane Foster, reprised in the film by Natalie Portman. The Goat Boat (76208) comes out in April, three months before its movie.

Marvel Thor’s Hammer (76209) Officially Revealed – Launching March 1st

We at The Brick Show have one last upcoming LEGO set to feature today, coming to us from Brickset. Do you still recall the buildable Infinity Gauntlet set (76191) from LEGO Marvel Infinity Saga last year? It seems we’ll be getting more in that vein soon enough. And what other Marvel, or MCU, item deserves to be replicated in LEGO? How about Mjolnir, Thor’s hammer? It’s certainly a magnificent weapon. Fans must’ve winced at its destruction in “Thor: Ragnarok” and rejoiced at its temporary return in “Avengers: Endgame.” Well, we’re getting LEGO Mjolnir alright, with a major US retailer getting it exclusively outside of LEGO.com itself.

The lucky retail giant is none other than Target, which now lists LEGO Marvel Thor’s Hammer (76209). It’s a magnificent brick-build of Mjolnir, resting on earth as it did in the first “Thor” movie (2011). The set comes with a Thor minifigure and three micro-builds of other stuff from Odin’s treasure room in Asgard. Remember those from “Ragnarok” (2017)? Like many other LEGO sets we’ve covered this week, it’s launching on both Target and LEGO.com this March 1. Preorders are also now available:

LEGO Pizza Tile Made Real on Twitter

LEGO’s near-infinite variety of pieces also includes elements depicting food items for the minifigures. These range from beverage glasses and cups, to pieces shaped like fruits and vegetables, to tiles representing plates. That last group would also include one familiar LEGO food piece: pizza. Believe it or not, the LEGO pizza tile can be used to check the evolution of detail in LEGO sets. The most recent iterations of the pizza piece can be found in two sets that launched this past New Year’ Day. And surely some builders have looked at a LEGO pizza tile and wondered: How does it look like when life-sized?

Well, Brick Fanatics tells us that a Twitter user went and recreated a LEGO pizza piece in 1:1 scale. Did we mention the de-fictionalization was made of edible ingredients? User girlpatched space dog (@dogs_on_mars) posted photos of her efforts on Twitter Sunday, January 23. As seen in the photo above @ dogs_on_mars made an actual pizza, using food colorings to achieve the right tile colors. The crust is a bright yellow, while cheddar slices went under the tomato sauce. The green spots, which the creator believes are green-colored pepperoni, were replicated with green food color.

As if that wasn’t enough, girlpatched space dog decided to take things full circle. She scanned her actual LEGO pizza in Bricklink Studio to make a custom pizza piece. The results can be seen in the second tweet series above. The green pepperoni apparently didn’t translate well, and commenters offered that the green stuff was probably basil. But hey, we appreciate the experiment. At least we now know how LEGO minifigs perceive their pizza tiles.

“Cancelled” LEGO Marvel Mech Armor 2022 Sets Coming Again, on April 1

Just because LEGO cranks out set after set, at monthly intervals every year, doesn’t mean they’re perfect manufacturers. Even with all their experience the designers can still make mistakes. Sometimes, that leads to anticipated sets being held back, or worse, cancelled. Late last year we received word of three LEGO Marvel sets for the Mech Armor product line. Unfortunately, LEGO scrapped their planned January 1, 2022 release date and delisted them from their online shop. The company even released a statement explaining how the items “failed quality standards,” with news sources citing bad structural choices. For a time, collectors thought these LEGO Marvel Mech Armors will never come at all.

76202 box1

Not so, according to a report by The Brick Fan. Not only are the missing upcoming Mech Armors back online, they have a new launch date. Marvel fans can get the Wolverine (76202), Iron Man (76203) and Black Panther (76204) Mech Armors months from now. They’re expected to become available at the same $9.99 SRP this April 1st. But wait, you ask. The date’s sus, you say. But in our opinion, LEGO’s not going to use these sets for April Fools. Let’s wait for April 1 to know for sure.

76204 box1

LEGO news site analysis of the quality issues which delayed the LEGO Marvel sets points at flimsy brick assembly. Most likely, the 1×1 plates serving as the Mech Armor’s hip joints would quickly wear down from play-articulation. Thus far, the box images haven’t been altered to confirm if that was the issue which needed fixing. Again, the definitive proof might have to wait until April Fools’ Day, which we’re sure doesn’t involve these LEGO sets.

Rumored LEGO Marvel Ant-Man Set (76219?) April 2022

The day before we made mention of future LEGO sets being listed first in independent retailers before LEGO.com does. We’re sure you already have a clue on what has been made official now, but we’ll get to it later. Anyway, we already have word on several LEGO Marvel sets due to launch next year. Delays/cancellations met some of them; but there are still more sets coming as early as January 1. How about Marvel sets for a bit later on in 2022? If this online retailer listing speaks true, we have one for an unlikely MCU movie source.

According to Brick Fanatics, the Italian retail platform Dbline.it just listed a LEGO Marvel set for April next year. Quite unusually, the subject is the MCU Ant-Man, alleged set number 76219. For those managing to follow the MCU’s production timetable, “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” isn’t premiering until 2023. Why push a LEGO Ant-Man set in 2022 when the character’s last appearances were in 2018 and 2019? We’ve no idea. What Instagram LEGO blogger brick_clicker believes is that the set is a buildable figure. Recall the January-launching LEGO Marvel (buildable) Iron Man Figure (76206). The “762” number prefix hints that Ant-Man might be a thematically-similar set.

But don’t take our word for it right now. Despite being listed by an actual retailer, we must consider LEGO Marvel Ant-Man (76219) a rumor until LEGO confirms it. We already have enough LEGO Marvel set choices to welcome the New Year with in January.
