During the past two weeks, LEGO was leaving bits and pieces on what we could expect from this year’s line of Winter Village set. There were speculations back then that it was going to be a fire station as hinted by the selected images that LEGO shared over on YouTube. And it was later on confirmed to be as such when we had our first look at the set’s official name – the LEGO Creator Expert Winter Village Fire Station (10263) – when it first appeared in an Italian LEGO store flyer. This time around, we now have an official listing for this new winter village set at shop.LEGO.com.
The LEGO Creator Expert Winter Village Fire Station (10263) comes in at 1,166 pieces and features a handful of minibuilds alongside the fire station itself. The set includes a lamppost and a bench, a newly designed Christmas tree decked with presents at minifig proportions, a frozen pool and fountain, sled, and a vintage-inspired fire truck. The main build features a cutaway portion of a fire station that shows a two-storey design: the lower level serves as a garage for the fire truck, complete with functional doors and several fire-fighting accessories. The upper level features a warm and cozy resting area for our brave modern-day heroes. It has a red telephone, coffee maker, dining table, and a foldable bed. The Winter Village Fire Station (10263) also comes with a light brick (with batteries included) to light up the building. The building facade is also decked with LEGO’s new sustainable plant elements, staying true to their commitment in gradually promoting these new plant-based LEGO pieces in their future sets. Curiously, there is no particular scene where we can find the firefighters in action, save for placing the traditional star on the top of the Christmas tree. I guess LEGO is keeping up with the festive mood of the occasion since this is a Christmas-themed set. You have to leave it to your imagination if you wish to add such a feature in your own holiday build.
The minifigures that goes along with the Winter Village Fire Station (10263) does not disappoint as well. It includes 6 minifigures: 3 firefighters with new classic firefighter uniforms, ice hockey player, musician with saxophone, and a girl with a scarf. The set also contains a baby minifigure with a printed sweater, a Dalmatian, and a buildable snowman with a curved top hat.
Read on for the complete product description of the LEGO Creator Expert Winter Village Fire Station (10263). It will retail for $99.99 and will be available for early VIP access beginning this week September 13, with a general public release on October 1. Be sure to visit shop.LEGO.com to know more.

The days are counting down to the grand opening of the newest LEGOLAND Discovery Center Columbus in Ohio. Already the management has opened the mini-theme park to a hard-hat tour for press and local officials, and will officially open it earlier still for guests availing of its annual pass.
Now, local news has brought word of more attractions at the new LEGO Discovery Center: a new Miniland theme zone, where replicas of famous buildings and landmarks are sure to be found. One unique brick-built addition for LEGOLAND Discovery Center Columbus is a well-known Ohio skyscraper.
This is the Great American Tower at Queen City Square, found in Cincinnati. Opened in 2011, the tower has 41 aboveground floors (with no 13th), 3 underground levels, and 26 elevators. It’s also recognizable because of its rooftop “headdress”, recalling either the tiara of the late Diana, Princess of Wales or the Chrysler Building’s spire.
Resident LEGO Builders for LEGOLAND Discovery Center Columbus (LDC) worked 236 hours to recreate the Great American Tower, using 23,532 pieces. LDC Columbus GM Jacob Kristensen says, “We’re excited to have the tallest building in Cincinnati represented in our MINILAND and we can’t wait for you to see the iconic Great American Tower, and more landmarks, made entirely out of LEGO bricks in MINILAND Ohio.”
Other Ohio landmarks in the LDC’s Miniland include the Cincinnati Union Terminal, Cleveland’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Columbus’ own COSI Discovery Center. LEGOLAND Discovery Center Columbus opens to annual pass-holders in September 21, and to the public September 28.
MCU’s post-Infinity War phase is now slowly unfolding, and what best way to do so with the introduction of the film franchise’s first solo, cosmic powered heroine. Avengers: Infinity War gave us our first official teaser of her eventual involvement in the events following the infamous Thanos Snap, and this time, Entertainment Weekly has now shared exclusive images of Captain Marvel in all her galactic glory.
EW also revealed some key plots of the film without being too spoilery. According to their report, Captain Marvel will not begin with the usual origin-story, but will show her already powered and suited up for her mission together with the Kree elite military group, Starforce. Think of them like a high-powered, intergalactic Special Forces. I can’t help but think and be amused on how they stand in contrast with the rowdy bunch of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Marvel Studios’ CAPTAIN MARVEL L to R: Leader of Starforce (Jude Law), Ronan (Lee Pace), Korath (Djimon Hounsou), Att-Lass (Algenis Perez Soto), Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Bron-Char (Rune Temte) and Minn-Erva (Gemma Chan)
Several characters were also revealed such as the megalomaniac, Ronan the Accuser, who was once a highly respected ranking officer of the Kree society during the events of Captain Marvel. We also see Korath once more, and a new enigmatic character played by Jude Law. He is introduced as Starforce’s commander and will serve as a sort of mentor to Captain Marvel as she comes to terms with her newly acquired super powers. We also get to glimpse the film’s antagonists which are the highly dangerous and skilled shape-shifting Skrulls.

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the reveal is the digitized younger version of Nick Fury (played by Samuel L. Jackson), with the missing eye patch during his younger years in S.H.I.E.L.D. Perhaps the events in Captain Marvel will reveal how he eventually earned his famous battle scar to become one of the agency’s most revered operative.
Marvel Studios’ CAPTAIN MARVEL Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson)
I’m quite positive that LEGO has already something in the works in line with Captain Marvel, and like any other LEGO Marvel Superhero sets, we will surely be getting one or two tie-in sets to celebrate the release of the film. Captain Marvel’s minifigure version will surely be a hit, especially if the designers manage to capture her blue and red costume pretty well. It is also fair to assume that we will be having the Ronan the Accuser back with a new minifigure iteration, together with a patch-less and younger version of Nick Fury. It’s also interesting to see how the Skrull will look like since this may require a new minifigure head mould. Though we don’t have our first official teaser trailer yet, we can be assured that before the year ends and before Captain Marvel debuts on the big screen on March 8, 2019 we will have a better look on how MCU’s most powerful superhero will play her role culminating in the events of Infinity War’s End Game. And of course, the LEGO sets that will go along with it.
For now, be sure to check out the rest of the LEGO Marvel Superheroes Infinity War sets, together with our heroes’ chibby counterparts in LEGO BrickHeadz form over at shop.LEGO.com. Thanks once again to EW for sharing these images.
Hot on the heels of the LEGO Seasonal Christmas Carousel (40293) reveal, we now have our first official images of the this year’s series of LEGO Seasonal Christmas Ornaments as shared once again by the LEGO Certified Store Network in Russia. This collection of Christmas Tree ornaments follow the tradition of previously released buildable holiday decors consisting of microbuilds inside a clear, transparent sphere. As of this posting, there are three 2018 Christmas Ornaments that are currently known: A Christmas Ornament Penguin (853796), Christmas Ornament Presents (853815), and Christmas Ornament Train (853810). As you can see, these are now listed for sale in Russian LEGO certified stores, and we can expect these to be available in US LEGO Stores starting October 1, retailing for $7.99 like those from previous years.
The Second 2018 LEGO Ideas Review Stage has finally drawn to a close, and with it are 10 qualifying projects that will pass through the intense scrutiny of the LEGO Ideas Design Team to become the next official LEGO Ideas Set. The deadline for reaching the 10K fan votes ended at 12AM of September 3 (CET) with the last finalist, the custom Mexico City Architecture set, being the last qualifier to join. These are the projects that were able to gather the support of 10,000 fans from May 2018 to September 2018. So let’s look back once again and see what sets the LEGO Ideas Review Team will deliberate about. From us here in the Brick Show Team, congratulations to all the finalists!
While this new batch of LEGO Ideas review stage qualifiers are now awaiting their turn to be reviewed by the LEGO Ideas Design Team, the result of their First 2018 LEGO Ideas Review Stage is about to be announced anytime soon. We are proud to have Tyler’s LEGO Ideas Stitch project to be considered as one of the finalists in this group, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed to see if we will see an actual brick-built Stitch anytime soon.

September is finally here, and we can now have our Christmas shopping wish list ready just in time for the holidays. It may only be September, but LEGO understands very well the virtue of offering their latest Christmas-themed sets as early as this month. We already had a glimpse of this year’s collection of LEGO City, Friends, and Star Wars Advent Calendars when first images of these sets came out as early as spring. This time, LEGO has finally listed these 2018 LEGO Advent Calendars at shop.LEGO.com and are now slated to be available in your local LEGO store.
Designed to be opened each day starting December 1st until Christmas Eve, these Advent Calendars comes with plenty of minibuilds and minifigures that you can add up to your collection. I’m very impressed on how this year’s LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar (75213) turned out. The minibuilds are spot on when compared to their larger counterparts, and its relatively new selection of minifigures will not disappoint. The LEGO City Advent Calendar (60201) also features tons of minibuilds that will make a great addition to any Winter Village you’re building this season. A LEGO Santa minifigure is always welcomed treat. However, I feel that the LEGO Friends Advent Calendar (41353) set still has room for improvement, and it will be nice if LEGO included a minidoll or two other than just having a collection of minibuilds. Nevertheless, this selection of 2018 LEGO Advent Calendars surprises are still great and will surely add some brick-building cheers this Christmas.
If you wish to know more about the 2018 LEGO Advent Calendars, just click on the following links and check them out at shop.LEGO.com and what they have to offer.

For many years, LEGO’s effort to establish a strong market presence in China has been challenged by rip-off brands from manufacturers producing fraudulent copies of official LEGO sets. Even the awarding of “well-known trademark” status to LEGO by the government has not stopped the appearance of new fake-sets from copy brands like Xingbao and Lepin. Recently however, the public’s been made aware that LEGO may have just scored a powerful legal blow against Lepin in the Guangdong People’s High Court, the resolution of a copyright infringement lawsuit where LEGO wins its legal battle eventually against the Chinese copy-brand two years ago.
The penalties Lepin incurred, as LEGO wins its legal battle, include the paying of 15 million Yuan ($2.2 million) in damages to LEGO; a warning to desist in further copyright infringement, including creating similar labels for sets from some of LEGO’s well-known themes such as Star Wars, Ninjago, Nexo Knights to name a few; a prohibition on conducting online business transactions over Chinese social media; and finally paying full legal costs for the proceedings.
Actually the court decision was already long finalized since July 21, 2017. It was only recently that word of it has gone out, and Lepin also can’t make any further appeals on the decision and have no choice but to comply.
Lepin being Lepin however, they’re finding ways to survive and still roll out LEGO knockoffs for buyers who want a brick-building experience on the cheap. Since the infringement covers only their product packaging and labeling, Lepin has resorted to discreet boxes when shipping. It was also discovered in the publicized court decision that both the Lepin firm and fellow copy-brand Xingbao are subsidiaries under the MeiZi Model company. It’ll be interesting to see what further steps LEGO will take to put a stop to these knockoffs once and for all.
