LEGO Marvel Carnage (76199) Now Up at LEGO Shop@Home

Last week, it was revealed that a villainous Marvel character will be added to the LEGO Helmet Collection in the form of the LEGO Marvel Carnage (76199). Initially offered as a Target pre-order exclusive, it is good to know that the set has finally appeared over at LEGO Shop@Home slated for an April 11, 2021 release.

LEGO Marvel Carnage (76199)

The LEGO Marvel Carnage (76199), which is basically more of a bust rather than a helmet, takes its cue from its notoriously evil villain counterpart from Marvel comics (which makes me also wonder if having such a vicious baddie in its roster of Marvel sets will run counter against LEGO’s values). This is not the first time that LEGO featured this ultra-violent character, though. There are two particular LEGO Marvel sets where this blood-colored symbiote is featured: 2015’s Carnage’s SHIELD Sky Attack (76036) and the more recent Spider-Man and Ghost Rider vs. Carnage (76173). And now having the LEGO Marvel Carnage (76199) helmet/bust under the LEGO 18+ series further seals Carnage’s place in the LEGO subthemes.

And in case you’re interested to add this set to your Instagram-worthy LEGO collection, then you may click the following affiliate link below to add this set to your LEGO wishlist. The LEGO Marvel Carnage (76199) set comes in at 546 pieces and will retail for $60 once it arrives in stores on April 11.

LEGO Amelia Earhart Tribute (40450) GWP Promo Extended

In case you haven’t started your LEGO shopping routine for this month and worrying that you have already missed the LEGO Amelia Earhart Tribute (40450) gift-with-purchase (GWP) set, then fear not. LEGO was kind enough to extend this promo until Wednesday this week.

In celebration of International Women’s Day this March, LEGO has released a new promotional item that celebrates the life and achievements of Amelia Earhart as the first female pilot to do a Transatlantic solo flight. This LEGO GWP set features Earhart’s iconic red 1932 Lockheed 5B Vega and an exclusive LEGO Amelia Earhart minifigure.

40450 1

The LEGO Amelia Earhart Tribute (40450) promotional set is originally slated to be offered from March 6 to 14, 2021 as mentioned in the March 2021 LEGO Store Calendar. But thankfully, LEGO opted to extend this promo until Wednesday. And given the fact that it still appears in our LEGO Shop@Home cart upon check out is a good indication that LEGO has enough of these sets to go around.

LEGO Amelia Earhart Tribute
The availability of the LEGO Amelia Earhart (40450) gift-with-purchase set has been extended until this Wednesday, March 17 as seen in this promotional page from LEGO Shop@Home.

If you’re looking forward to having this LEGO GWP tribute, be sure to act now since we’re not sure if LEGO will extend this offer beyond this Wednesday. And for the latest LEGO sets that were released this month, be sure to check our list right here.

Lastly, in case you missed it, LEGO also featured an interview with Mel Caddick, the LEGO designer behind this cool tribute. You can find a brief transcript of this interview over at the LEGO Amelia Earhart (40450) product page.

Its Time to Cast Your Vote for the LEGO Ideas Out of This World Space Build Contest

The LEGO Ideas Out of This World Space Build contest has now entered its crowd vote stage. And with 15 finalists vying to be the Grand Prize winner and the bragging rights to be the next LEGO gift-with-purchase (GWP) set, it’s now up to the LEGO fan community to determine which is the best among the rest.

Launched last month, this next LEGO Ideas contest seeks to find the most playful and creative space-inspired, fan-made LEGO set out there under 250 bricks. This means that once turned into an official LEGO set, the winning entry will most likely be of the same size as that of its predecessor, the LEGO Vintage Car (40448). During the Review Stage, the LEGO Ideas Review Team selected the 15 finalists based on the following:

  • Overall coolness and originality
  • Most inspired details
  • Relevance to the contest theme
  • Best of use of LEGO elements

Now that the contest’s review stage has concluded with 15 finalists to choose from, fans can now cast their one (1) precious vote to help support the next LEGO GWP set. In no particular order, here are the top entries that made it past the review stage. You may click on their respective links if you wish to support your favorite entry. Remember you can only cast your vote once so be sure to consider every entry first before giving your vote. Crowd voting will end on March 19 so be sure to vote now.

The LEGO Group Finished Strong in 2020

The LEGO Group has recently published its annual financial report, and despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the company finished 2020 on a high note. Boosting consumer sales by up to 21% for 2020, LEGO is perhaps one of the most resilient companies in the world that managed not only to survive but also thrive in the midst of the global health crisis.

Since 2017, LEGO managed to bounce back from less than desirable sales towards an upward trend of increasing growth, reaching its highest peak so far in 2020. Here are some of the main highlights of the LEGO Group’s 2020 annual financial report.

  • Performance-wise, the company had a 13% increase in revenue.
  • Sales were up to 20%.
  • LEGO Super Mario was 2020’s most successful launch, with up to 6 million (that is an insanely large number) digital instructions downloaded.
  • There are now 678 LEGO Stores worldwide, with 134 new stores added in 2020 alone.
  • The top 5 LEGO themes (in no particular order) that were sold in 2020 were: LEGO Technic, LEGO Star Wars (yep, the Force is still definitely strong with LEGO), LEGO City, LEGO Classic, and LEGO Friends.
  • LEGO will completely roll-out its paper bags to replace its single-use of plastic packaging.

But perhaps what impresses me more is the fact that LEGO managed to rise above the challenge of this pandemic, and was able to turn a seemingly problematic situation into an opportunity that benefits not just the company but also its faithful fans. As LEGO CEO Niels B. Christiansen puts it, “We are very pleased with these results. They show the timeless relevance of the LEGO brick and learning through play. This performance is also a testament to the passion, creativity, and resilience of our people. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, they worked tirelessly to keep the world playing.”

For more details of their 2020 financial performance, you can check out LEGO’s full press release and other details at LEGO.com. Congratulations to the LEGO Group and cheers to more great builds in 2021!

New LEGO Marvel Carnage Helmet (76199) Revealed

It looks like there is a new addition to the LEGO Helmet Collection hailing from the Marvel universe. Reddit user pbpdesigns have shared some details on what seems to be a Target-exclusive. And from the looks of it, we can expect a new, crazy cool LEGO Marvel Carnage Helmet (76199) set any time soon.

This info came in when pbpdesigns shared a notification from the Target app revealing this LEGO Marvel Carnage Helmet (76199) pre-order offer as you can see below. As of this posting, the Target alert indicates that the set will go live for pre-order on March 11, 8 AM CST, and the link for its product page is not yet published live.

Carnage helmet coming to Target. Just got an alert.
byu/pbpdesigns inlego

The LEGO Marvel Carnage (76199) is based on one of Marvel’s most formidable symbiote villains who is also slated to appear in future Sony films. Similar to sets under the LEGO Helmet Collections, this set follows the same design concept appealing mainly to adult LEGO fans. And though this new subtheme seems to offer more Star Wars characters, it looks like LEGO intends to accommodate more licensed characters outside of this theme. On a side note, there are also rumors (and leaked images) circulating online on what looks like a similar Batman brick-built bust. I guess only time can tell if this will also officially surface or is just another kind of deliberate misdirection.

I also understand the hype over this new LEGO Marvel Carnage helmet considering how on-point its design is. The black and red color scheme beautifully stands out, and I love how the details of Carnage’s eyes and glorious teeth define this iconic villain. I just can’t figure out if this set also comes with printed pieces for those symbiote-laden eyebrows and forehead, but I guess that it might be stickers.

Though it is labeled as a Target-exclusive, I am still expecting that this set will eventually appear over at LEGO Shop@Home. I’ll keep you posted. So what do you think of this new LEGO Marvel Carnage Helmet bust? Will you pre-order this over at Target? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

The LEGO Group Recreates Its LEGO 1980s Advert In Support of International Woman’s Day

The LEGO Group has now launched another initiative that will inspire budding builders and pioneers. Aside from offering a LEGO Amelia Earhart Tribute promotional set in celebration of International Women’s Day next week, LEGO now offers a cool way of sharing some LEGO nostalgia with your child – by recreating its classic LEGO 1980s advert.

Coming in with the tagline “What it is is beautiful”, the original LEGO 1980s advert features a young girl proudly displaying her LEGO creation. This was lauded to convey a daring and inspiring message to all young girls: that playing with LEGO bricks will always be gender-free and are designed to bring out the creative and innovative side in every person.

LEGO 1980s Advert

As a way of looking back at this empowering message, LEGO has set up its LEGO.com/futurebuilders website where parents or guardians, and their children can submit a similar photo, and LEGO, in turn, will provide them with a unique digital poster similar to the style of the classic LEGO 1980s advert. Here are some samples that show how this e-poster looks like.

Read on for the LEGO Group’s full press release and additional instructions on how you can have your child’s very own classic poster.

Celebrating the female leaders of tomorrow as the LEGO Group recreates iconic 1980s advert

The LEGO Group is calling on families to help celebrate the skills, interests, and creative potential of the next generation of female leaders by recreating its iconic 1981 LEGO® advert.

On the 40th anniversary of the ‘What it is is beautiful’ advert, the LEGO Group is launching the campaign to support this year’s International Women’s Day on March 8. The campaign is designed to encourage and champion today’s young women on their journey to becoming the decision-makers, role models, and changemakers of the future – whatever their interests, passions, or career aspirations may be.

By visiting LEGO.com/futurebuilders, parents and legal guardians can find inspiration and submit a photo of their child holding their LEGO creation, along with a few words that describe their child’s creative approach. A unique poster, in the style of the iconic 1980s advert, will then be emailed back(1) – ready to be proudly displayed or shared using #LEGOFutureBuilders.

Julia Goldin, Global Chief Product and Marketing Officer at the LEGO Group commented: “At the LEGO Group, we believe children are our role models. We look to them for inspiration every day and want to help them break down gender stereotypes and create opportunities for everyone. Celebrating people helps empower people, and through this campaign, we, along with the help of parents and caregivers, want to celebrate the skills and creative potential of today’s young women – the next generation of amazing female leaders!”

Research from the latest LEGO Play Well Study shows that 73% of parents believe gender differences are driven more by societal expectations than biology(2) With many children seeking to positively challenge gender stereotypes in society, the LEGO Group is committed to supporting them and creating a more inclusive and diverse workforce that will live up to their ideals and expectations.

As well as recently introducing its Responsible Workplace initiatives, the LEGO Group has signed up to the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles to help guide how it can better empower women and girls, accelerate gender equality, and encourage more young girls to believe they can achieve anything they set their hearts on.

Exclusive LEGOLAND Water Park (40473) Set Revealed

LEGOLAND Parks has just revealed its next limited-edition set following last year’s LEGOLAND Fire Academy (40393). The LEGOLAND Water Park (40473) is slated to be offered exclusively at the LEGO Store located inside the theme park. This is good news actually, since it may suggest that LEGOLAND is already gearing up for its re-opening anytime soon. And like other tourist destinations, LEGOLAND is now trying to re-open as it tries to recover from the effects of the global pandemic. If you recall back in April last year, LEGOLAND was somewhat compelled to sell its exclusive sets due to its closure back then.

40473 1

The LEGOLAND Water Park (40473) comes in at 359 pieces and is expected to retail for $29.99. It features a portion of the slides that can be found in the actual water park, a mini waterfall, a food cart, and a couple of poolside lounges with umbrella. It also comes with a selection of minifigures chilling out under the summer sun – a lady food cart vendor, a young boy with an ice cream accessory, a baby in a stroller, a mom with a baby bottle, and a guy in swimming attire.

40473 1 14356

If you and your family is a frequent visitor of LEGOLAND, then grabbing the LEGOLAND Water Park (40473) set is a great way to memorialize the experience. Plus, it’s a nice addition to your growing LEGOLAND collection which might include previous exclusive sets such as the LEGOLAND Castle (40306), LEGOLAND Driving School (40347), and the LEGOLAND Theme Park (40346). Just be sure to follow your local health protocols in your next visit. Keep safe everyone and happy building!

LOOK: LEGO Easter Bunny’s Carrot House (40449) Official Images

The LEGO Store Calendar for March 2021 has already been released, and if you recall, one of the promotional items that we can expect in the second half of this month is the LEGO Easter Bunny’s Carrot House (40449). Though the image that we have previously was less than desirable, we now have a few official images where we can see the finer details of this seasonal set.

LEGO Easter Bunny's Carrot House

To be precise, you can expect to have this limited-edition LEGO Easter Bunny’s Carrot House added to your cart when your next single-receipt LEGO purchase reaches $60 or more. Valued at $12.99, this promotional gift-with-purchase (GWP) set will be available starting March 15 to April 5 or until supplies last.

40449 alt1

The build features a carrot-inspired house and a minibuild of a gray Easter bunny. Despite being relatively small, the carrot house is packed with details (though made up of stickers I think) in its interiors, with several Easter eggs adorning its garden. As an added treat, LEGO designers placed a hidden easter egg on top of the carrot house’s door for a bit of an Easter egg hunt surprise.

LEGO Easter Bunny's Carrot House

And in case you missed it, there is another promotional item that I think will be quite popular among LEGO collectors. In celebration of International Woman’s Day next week, LEGO will be offering another promo in the form of the LEGO Amelia Earhart Tribute (40450). This promotional freebie will be up from March 6 to 14 or while supplies last. Considering the details on this set and the first-ever Amelia Earhart minifigure that goes with it, you can expect that this GWP item will be quite popular among LEGO fans.

So better be ready with your LEGO wishlist this month and make sure that you plan your next LEGO purchase promptly. And for new LEGO sets available this March over at LEGO Shop@Home, be sure to check them out right here.
