LEGO gave us a glimpse of things to come at this year’s Nuremberg Toy Fair in Germany, and if you recall from last week, we can expect two sets coming from the LEGO Marvel Spider-Man franchise. And this time around, LEGO Shop@Home has finally unveiled the LEGO Marvel Spider-Man Venom Crawler (76163), slated to be released on March 1st.
The LEGO Marvel Spider-Man Venom Crawler (76163) comes in at 413 pieces and features Spider-Man, Iron Venom, and Carnage in their minifigure forms. The Iron Venom is the first minifigure of its kind, perhaps as a reference to the Invincible Iron Man #5 comics released in 2017. This is one LEGO BrickHeadz that will take LEGO Star Wars fandom by storm. Promobricks managed to capture this now-deleted post from Amazon Canada that shows the latter listing a LEGO BrickHeadz Star Wars The Mandalorian and the Child (75317) set, together with a glimpse of what to expect from it.
The listing was obviously a bit early since someone from Amazon has to do some damage control. I assume that this set will be officially unveiled sometime during this weekend’s New York Toy Fair, but I guess Amazon got a bit excited so… Well, who wouldn’t especially now that the Child (aka Baby Yoda) now has an official LEGO set just in time to level up the hype for Season 2 of The Mandalorian which will arrive in Disney+ in October. This newest callback to the Star Wars spin-off series is the third set offered under the LEGO Star Wars The Mandalorian subtheme, following the AT-ST Raider (75254) and the Mandalorian Battle Pack (75267).

It looks like the LEGO Group is trying to test the waters with this one. The LEGO World in Copenhagen has officially kicked off, and LEGO took this opportunity to soft launch what seems to be its first attempt to offer lighting accessories to some of its premium sets. The LEGO Night Mode Light Kits were unveiled, with initial five kits that are tailored for specific sets.
According to a report from Brickset, these light kits were put on display at the LEGO Store in that location, with some sets being shown with these light accessories such as the LEGO Creator Expert Ford Mustang (10265). However, it seems that they are not actually for sale yet and those that were displayed are just empty boxes as of this moment. It’s like a test run spearheaded by the LEGO Lead User Lab where LEGO engages with the LEGO fan community to gauge how feasible and appealing this future brick innovation might be.

So consider this as a sort of marketing and research exercise on how LEGO fans might react to it. Though the expected pricing is a bit steep, if there is a clear demand, then we might see the LEGO Night Mode Light Kits retail for as much as $200 that will match large and medium-sized sets such as the LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle (71043), LEGO Ideas Tree House (21318), LEGO Creator Expert Ford Mustang (10265), and LEGO Friends Andrea’s Pool Party (41374). Given such prices, and if the costing will be the same, then if you’re looking forward to having the Hogwarts Castle for example with all the perks of the LEGO Night Mode has to offer, then you have to be ready to break the bank to the tune of 600 bucks.

Truth be told, there are already a handful of third-party lighting kits that are made available via Amazon, and they are way below the $200 price point that the LEGO Night Mode Light Kits seem to suggest. So it can be said that the market for this kind of LEGO accessories is pretty much in place already, and LEGO has to think outside of the box to make this offering more functional and feature-rich. The only advantage that I see right here is that since it is made directly by LEGO, then we can be assured that it will perfectly fit any of their existing or currently offered sets.
In any case, I’m sure that most LEGO fans will welcome this move, only if the LEGO Group will reconsider its pricing.
The LEGO Ideas Review Team has turned in the results of their LEGO Ideas 2019 Second Review Stage, and it seems that we are not getting just one but two new LEGO Ideas sets in the near future. Check out the announcement made by LEGO Ideas Engagement Manager, Hasan Jensen, and LEGO Ideas Design Manager, Samuel Johnson via Facebook live at 4PM CET.
Though I was a bit far-off from my predictions of what these next LEGO Ideas sets will be, I’m glad to see that the Medieval Blacksmith product idea by LEGO fan designer Clemens Fiedler (aka Namirob) was eventually chosen to become an official LEGO set. I like the direction where LEGO seems to be going with their selections within the LEGO Ideas platform. Though it may not be a medieval castle in itself, the LEGO Ideas Medieval Blacksmith set is a shout out to LEGO’s classic Castle theme that many adult fans are longing to be revived. And with the upcoming LEGO Ideas The Pirate Bay now in the works, we can see how these sets can evoke a certain feeling of nostalgia among AFOLs. Plus, the design on this set clearly demonstrates the superb building skill of its fan designer – the building style (the roof and chimney are absolutely gorgeous), choice of colors, landscape, and interior details all combine to bring out one display-worthy set.
This one caught me by surprise, though it was in a way expected given the longstanding partnership between LEGO and Disney. Winnie the Pooh by Ben Alder (aka benlouisa) is the next upcoming LEGO Ideas set that we can expect sometime next year. A.A. Milne’s classic children’s story, now immortalized by Disney, is finally getting an official LEGO set complete with all the characters that we learned to love since our childhood days. The set includes the 100 Acre Wood, the place that served as a home for Winnie the Pooh together with his friends, Piglet, Tigger, Rabbit, Eeyore, and the ‘wise’ Owl. What makes the LEGO Ideas Winnie the Pooh set exciting is the possibility of having new minifigure characters, molds and pieces that will render them as close to how they look like in the Disney animated film.
Unfortunately, the LEGO Ideas Review Team ultimately decided to forego Stephanix’s Anatomini project. The reasons were not specifically stated, except for the fact that it may not have met LEGO’s standards with regards to “playability, safety and fit with the LEGO brand”.
With the announcement of the LEGO Ideas 2019 Second Review Stage results now out of the way, we can now expect the Third Review Stage to wrap up in summer as well. These twelve product ideas manage to gather the needed 10,000 fan support or votes from September 2019 to January of this year. It’s exciting to see what the outcome will be on this one, especially considering the licensing issues that the review team needs to hurdle for some of these projects.
More rumors are coming out from the leaking faucet. After the news came out regarding what to expect from the next 2020 wave of LEGO Marvel Superheroes sets, we now have additional info about the next series of LEGO DC Comics Superheroes sets coming this second half of 2020 courtesy of Promobricks.
LEGO DC Wonder Woman 1984
Similar to what LEGO did with DCEU’s Wonder Woman in 2017’s Wonder Woman Warrior Battle (76075), the upcoming Wonder Woman 1984 sequel will also be receiving the LEGO treatment. We have no information as to date regarding its exact set name but for the time being, lets refer to it as Wonder Woman vs Cheetah (76157). It features a large satellite dish with minifigure versions of Wonder Woman and Cheetah. This set is slated to be released in June, just in time for its tie-up film landing on theaters on June 5, 2020.
LEGO Batman
As it turns out, we can expect three new LEGO Batman sets to arrive also in June, one of which is labeled as ‘4+’. The smallest in the set, which is also the one tagged as for 4+ kids, is the Penguin Pursuit (76158). It features a Penguin minifigure and a small brick-built duck which we assume as the titular villain’s vehicle. It also includes a Bat Boat with a Batman minifigure. Based on its description, it somehow thematically resembles that of the LEGO Batman: The Penguin Face Off (76010) from 2014 save for the Bat Submarine.

We also have another mid-sized set which is called Joker’s Trike Chase (76159) that features a trike with a grotesque grin which obviously the vehicle of choice for Joker. It also includes a Batman minifigure together with his Batmobile. Other minifigures include Harley Quinn with her oversized, black and red hammer, and Robin.
The last set in this series and what seems to be the largest, is the Mobile Bat Base (76160). Retailing for 89.99 Euro, it includes the minifigures of Batman, Batgirl, Nightwing (red, New 52 version), Mr. Freeze, Bronze Tiger, and Man Bat. From what it seems, the Mobile Bat Base also features several interlocking vehicles.
Man-Bat and Nightwing appear here in the LEGO Batman Man-Bat Attack (76011) from 2014. We might see these minifigs once again in the tentatively named Mobile Bat Base (76160).

We caught a glimpse of things to come for LEGO’s licensed sets during the recently concluded Nuremberg Toy Fair. And for those of you who were following this news, it was pretty obvious that LEGO is putting a tight lid on some of these licensed sets until such time their respective embargos are lifted. However, news along the grapevine suggests that there is still more to expect from LEGO’s licensed themes, particularly from its 2020 LEGO Marvel Superheroes.
LEGO Marvel Eternals
According to a report from Promobricks, we can still expect a handful of LEGO Marvel sets that are based on new subthemes or titles. We already know that a LEGO Marvel Black Widow’s Helicopter Chase (76162) is coming out in March as a tie-in set for the upcoming Black Widow spin-off MCU film, and for the second half of 2020, we will also be seeing another round of MCU-inspired sets in the form of the LEGO Marvel Eternals sets. Specifically, we can expect four (4) sets for this subtheme somewhat similar to how LEGO released tie-in sets for the Spider-Man: Far From Home film. As of now, we only know of the price of the small set, 76145, under this Marvel subtheme which is expected to retail for 9.99 Euro. We’re looking for a release date sometime in October, or earlier during the second half of this year, just in time for the marketing campaign for the film which will land in theaters in November.
MCU’s Eternals will also get the LEGO treatment, with four LEGO Marvel sets slated to be released.
LEGO Marvel Spider-Man
Other than the LEGO Marvel Spider-Man Venom Crawler (76163) whose images were recently found in LEGO servers, only to be removed afterward, we can look forward to another LEGO Spidey set to follow soon. A LEGO Marvel Spider-Man vs Venom (76151) is also expected to arrive, focusing more on the web crawler’s titular symbiote nemesis. This development is exciting at many levels because other than putting the spotlight on Venom as a LEGO set, it further confirms the eventual cinematic crossover of MCU’s Spider-Man to that of Sony’s version of Venom. The LEGO Marvel Spider-Man vs Venom (76151) set is described to feature a large brick-built black mech lizard and a smaller vehicle with shooters. The black mech lizard is obviously the centerpiece of this set akin to the Venom Crawler. However, fans will be excited to know that other than the Spider-Man, Venom, and Iron-Spider minifigures included in this set, this will be our first-ever set to feature a Spider-Ham minifigure. That certainly is interesting.

LEGO Marvel Avengers
Loki is returning to the LEGO limelight with a new set dedicated to the mischievous Norse god. The LEGO Marvel Wrath of Loki (76152) is expected to be a substantially large 4+ set that features an Avenger Tower, a small Quinjet, and a green aircraft for Loki and five minifigures: Loki, Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, and Captain Marvel.
S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Helicarrier will also be returning in LEGO form this 2020, though in a smaller version. Tagged as set 76153, it is expected to retail for 120 Euros, significantly smaller to that of 2015’s The SHIELD Hellicarrier (76042) which retailed for $350. However, this newer version of the Hellicarrier packs a lot of minifigs, including Iron Man, Thor, Captain Marvel, Black Widow, Nick Fury, War Machine and a SHIELD Agent. War Machne is said to have a new shoulder cannon, while another Marvel villain will be coming back in LEGO form – MODOK will be returning in this set, though not in minifigure form as we first saw him in Avengers: Hulk Lab Smash (76018) back in 2014. This newer version of MODOK will be brick-built so its kind of interesting how this will turn out. This newer SHIELD Hellicarrier (76153) will come in a gray and blue color scheme, plus a blue-yellow Quinjet that can land on the Hellicarrier itself.
The LEGO Marvel Avengers: Hulk Lab Smash (76018) from 2014 features MODOK’s first-ever LEGO debut.
Other than these two sets, we can also expect three additional Avengers-inspired sets such: a new Hulkbuster (76164) which includes minifigures of Iron Rescue, and two SHIELD Agents; the previously reported Iron Man Bust (76165), and a new and larger Avengers Tower (76165) featuring seven new minifigs: Red Skull, Iron Man, Black Widow, two SHIELD Agents, and two undisclosed villains or superheroes.

The pilot episode of LEGO Masters US has finally arrived last week, and our ten pairs of contestants never failed to wow viewers and LEGO fans with their awesome builds and Instagram-worthy brick creations. The rule is simple: build the grandest and most ambitious original LEGO creation in 15 hours based on an overarching theme, and see if it can tick all the boxes that the judges are looking for.

For its first episode, Will Arnett did not beat around the bush (except for an occasional joke or two) when he explained what’s at stake throughout the entire competition: a staggering $100,000 for the winning pair, a unique LEGO trophy, and the bragging rights for the first-ever LEGO Masters US. And for the first challenge, they have to impress contest judges Amy Corbett and Jamie Berard with their original Dream Park Theme Park creation with the goal of earning the elusive Golden Brick. This will grant the winner a kind of immunity that will protect them from elimination whenever they find themselves in a rough spot throughout the course of the contest.

Each pair of contestants went to work right away determined to create an impression with their first entry in this season. Christian & Aaron turned heads with their visually stunning Spaceland carnival and its massive Ferris wheel centerpiece. Krystle & Amie immediately knew that a Fairy Wonderland Park is the thing for them with their Flying Fairy Carousel. The LEGO-building, police and communications tandem of Mel & Jermaine opted for an Egyptian-themed Pharaoh Sands theme park. The father and son team of Manny & Nestor and their Team G Dream Adventure Mountain. Undoubtedly, one of the most elaborate builds in this episode were also delivered by Boone & Mark with their Timber Town theme park. Not to be outdone, Sam & Jessica also came up with their own mechanical rides with their candy-themed, Sugar Hill theme park. Perhaps the most technically challenging creation in this episode will be Tyler & Amy’s Funny Farm with its ‘egg drop’ silo. The Daydream theme park is a sort of throwback to brothers Travis & Corey when they used to make their own brick-built rides when they were kids. Jessie & Kara, on the other hand, found themselves in a relatively difficult situation when they decided to scrap their original plan altogether in favor of a pirate, castle, and space-themed park which they collectively dubbed Journey Through Dreams. But thankfully they managed to pull it off. Finally, we have the team of Richard & Flynn with their Spooky Town carnival ride with its bat-themed Fun House.

In the end, there can only be one recipient of the Golden Brick and for this episode, the immunity goes to the winning duo of Christian & Aaron with their Spaceland theme park. Manny & Nestor also teetered towards the bottom two ranks together with Sam & Jessica. The former due to an incomplete roller coaster ride that failed to impress the judges, while the latter due to a glaring technical problem with their motorized bumper cars. If Boone & Mark somehow managed to pull off the roller coaster mechanism in their Timber Town, I’m very positive that they will have a greater chance of earning that Golden Brick.

In a gladly surprising turn of events, there were no eliminations during this pilot episode. However, the stakes will be higher this Wednesday where we will get to see who among our teams will be the first to go home. The station has three heights, at its base an access for the first floor or terrace and the entrance with access for disabled people that leads to the platform. Once there, the platform allows access through the footbridge. For disabled people, there is a gangway system coordinated with trains to access the other side of the platform.
The glass dome (piece 2409) and the large glazed surfaces (piece 2408) are a tribute to the large space sets of the late 80s and early 90s, in this case, I have taken the liberty of making it transparent without dyes.
I also make a small tribute with the permission of the creators to a set that I have a lot of love (6601-1) Ice Cream Cart.
With some hesitation, I decided to include the train to give more gameplay and I think it’s a good option, with the train the project is at the limit of the number of pieces allowed but acquires greater value and logic for a train station.
It is a modern electric style train, with ease to adapt an engine, ease to include the wheelchair and several minifigures thanks to the folding roof.
