LEGO Harry Potter Book of Monsters (30628) Officially Revealed

It looks like we’ll be building the official brick version of this iconic Harry Potter creature (or thing, whichever you may want to call it) any time soon. This time around, LEGO has just revealed the LEGO Harry Potter Book of Monsters (30628), together with its official building instructions.

LEGO Harry Potter Book of Monsters

The reveal came via LEGO Shop@Home’s kids’ section where we get to see this long-overdue LEGO HP set. If you recall, news about this set came out mid-October, with the LEGO Harry Potter Book of Monsters initially spotted as a gift-with-purchase (GWP) set in a brochure found in a LEGO Discovery Center Store in Shanghai, China.

Details regarding its international release were scant during that time, and now, LEGO HP fans, in general, will be glad to know that we will be seeing this official brick-version of the Book of Monsters anytime soon. Other than these official images, we only have its published building instructions in the US as proof that this set is just around the corner, perhaps as a GWP set as well.

The LEGO Harry Potter Book of Monsters (30628) set comes in at 319 pieces and comes with a Draco Malfoy minifigure. It measures almost 5 inches in width and comes with a pair of wheels at the bottom that allows it to move around while making its jaw mechanism move up and down similar to how it is seen in the movies.

Again, there is not much info on LEGO’s website as of this time but I can bet my bricks that this will be a substantial GWP set, perhaps in line with a LEGO Harry Potter promotions that will launch as part of LEGO’s Black Friday sales. If you wish to give it a try and build your own version of this set, then you may download the LEGO Harry Potter Book of Monsters building instructions right here, and see if you have the parts needed to come up with this cute brick monstrosity. However, be advised that you have to settle for a sightless brick critter considering that the official version has stickers for its eyes and title.

Thanks to Brick Fanatics for the heads up, with additional info from the Brickfinder as well.  I’ll provide you with more updates as new info comes in, but in the meantime, you may also want to check some of the LEGO Harry Potter sets that are rumored to be released in 2021.

November 2020 LEGO Store Calendar Features the LEGO 1989 Batwing

LEGO servers are now updated to include the November 2020 LEGO Store Calendar, giving us a glimpse of things to come in your nearest LEGO brand store. As the LEGO Group gradually resumes operations of all of its stores, we can still notice the lack of in-store building activities that the stores used to have. Despite these limitations, there are still plenty of reasons to visit (following health safety protocols in your area, of course) your fave LEGO Store and to check out the freebies that they have in store for next month. Take a look at next month’s LEGO Store promotional calendar below. You may also download a PDF copy of this LEGO promotional calendar right here.

The LEGO 1989 Batwing (76161) Takes Center Stage

76161

Front and center in next month’s November 2020 LEGO Store Calendar is Tim Burton’s 1989 vision of the Dark Knight’s aerial assault vehicle now captured in LEGO brick form. The LEGO 1989 Batwing (76161) features an 18+ branding that caters to the adult LEGO fan community. It comes in at 2,363 pieces and retails for $200. It had an early VIP launch last October 21 and is expected to be available for all starting November 1.

Free LEGO Hidden Side El Fuego’s Stunt Cannon (30464)

October 26 to November 1, 2020

30464 1

For every LEGO purchase worth $35 and more, you’ll have the LEGO Hidden Side El Fuego’s Stunt Cannon (30464) added to your cart automatically. This set comes in 46 pieces and is valued at $4.99

Free LEGO Star Wars Han Solo Carbonite Metal Keychain (5006363) for VIP Members

November 1 to 8, 2020

November 2020 LEGO Store Calendar

LEGO VIP members are in for a treat this November. From November 1 to 8, LEGO VIP members with single-receipt purchases of LEGO Star Wars sets worth $100 or more will be entitled to receive an exclusive LEGO Star Wars Han Solo Carbonite Metal Keychain (5006363) or while supplies last. As far as I recall, this LEGO Star Wars element has only appeared in five LEGO Star Wars sets, so it’s a nice move from LEGO to finally have this as a keychain accessory. The window to claim this VIP-exclusive freebie is quite narrow, so be sure to time your next LSW purchase accordingly. This freebie will be offered in all LEGO brand stores and over at LEGO Shop@Home.

VIP Sweepstakes: Limited-Edition LEGO Store Lester Minifigure

November 9 to 29, 2020

November 2020 LEGO Store Calendar

LESTER 1

Now that the LEGO VIP minifigure sweepstakes seem to be a regular staple of the LEGO VIP Rewards Center, the next exclusive collectible minifigure to be raffled is the limited-edition LEGO Store Lester minifigure. This rare minifig first appeared back in 2016 as a raffle prize during the grand opening of the LEGO Leicester Square brand store in London. Back then, only a total of 275 pieces were given away to walk-in customers who visited the store in its opening. Fast-forward to 2020, you may use your 50 VIP points if you wish to try your luck in bagging this exclusive, starting November 9 until 29. Remember, no purchases necessary to join the LEGO VIP minifigure sweepstakes.

Other things worth noticing in the November 2020 LEGO Store Calendar is the official announcement of this year’s LEGO Black Friday Sale. The highly anticipated annual LEGO sale event will happen from November 27 to 30. Stay tuned for more updates on the hottest LEGO sets that will go on sale during this promo period.

November 2020 LEGO Store Calendar

Finally, you may also mark your calendars on November 17 for the official launch of the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special, which will begin streaming over at Disney+ starting on this date. This animated Holiday Special directly follows the events in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. We find Rey embarking on a time-spanning adventure that will allow her to meet some of the iconic characters in the entire Star Wars saga. It will be an interesting mash-up of all LEGO Star Wars characters wrapped around that LEGO holiday humor.

Check Out the LEGO Freebies in the October 2020 LEGO Store Calendar

After being treated with a couple of magical freebies from the wizarding world of LEGO Harry Potter this month, the LEGO Store now gears up for another wave of promotional items slated to be released next month. Read on to see what the October 2020 LEGO Store Calendar has to offer for your next LEGO purchase.

Other than featuring the LEGO Star Wars Mos Cantina (75290) as its flagship, centerpiece set for next month, the October 2020 LEGO Store Calendar is somewhat pretty random in its offerings, with not just two but three freebies to offer that covers various LEGO themes. You may also download a PDF version of next month’s LEGO Store Calendar right here. Let’s take a closer look at what the calendar has to offer both for in-store and online LEGO purchases.

Free Exclusive LEGO Mindstorms Mini Robots (40413) Polybag

From October 15 to 25, 2020, or while supplies last.

October 2020 LEGO Store Calendar

The latest LEGO Mindstorms set just had a reboot with the announcement of the Robot Inventor (51515) set. And to celebrate the arrival of this new robotics game-changer, LEGO has also revealed a polybag version of the theme with the LEGO Mindstorms Mini Robots (40413). No sensors, motors, and intelligent hub of course, but this polybag promo is packed with enough LEGO pieces to build 5 separate models at the same time. I particularly like that build which recreates a mini version of the original Robot Inventor, plus the four-legged robodog Spot inspired by Boston Dynamics.

This polybag freebie will be available from October 15 to 25 and will be added to your shopping cart automatically for a minimum single-receipt purchase of any LEGO products worth $100 and more.

Free LEGO Build Your Own Vehicles (30549) Polybag

From October 15 to 25, 2020, or while supplies last.

October 2020 LEGO Store Calendar

30549 1

It looks like if you time your next purchase anytime during the third week of October, you’ll not just get one but two polybag freebies. For a minimum single-receipt purchase worth $40 and above,  you’ll get a free LEGO Build Your Own Vehicles (30549) polybag. It’s a neat incentive to have if you wish to make the best out of your intended LEGO purchase on these dates. Take note however that this is an In-Store only freebie which means this will not be available over at LEGO Shop@Home.

Free LEGO Hidden Side El Fuego’s Stunt Cannon (30464) Polybag

From October 26 to November 1, 2020, or while supplies last.

October 2020 LEGO Store Calendar

And what will Halloween be without some spooky fun from LEGO? Just in time for some trick or treats, LEGO will also be giving away a LEGO Hidden Side El Fuego’s Stunt Cannon (30464) polybag for every qualifying purchase of any LEGO products worth $35. This promo will launch (no pun intended) from October 26 until November 1 or until supplies last.

Other than these promotional freebies, LEGO VIP members also have the chance of winning a LEGO Batman Movie The Batmobile (70905) set signed by no other than the comedic host of LEGO Masters US and the voice behind the LEGOfied Caped Crusader, Will Arnett.

This sweepstake will be up at the LEGO VIP Rewards Center from October 12 to November 1, 2020, with a corresponding 50 VIP points per raffle entry to join.

LEGO Harry Potter Freebies Highlighted in the September 2020 LEGO Store Calendar

The US September 2020 LEGO Store Calendar has been uploaded and with it comes the next series of promotional freebies that you can get to make the most out of your next LEGO purchase. Same as with previous months, it is relatively quiet in LEGO brand stores due to the absence of any in-store building activities that LEGO used to have. But still, there are plenty of reasons to visit your local LEGO store next month (be sure to follow all health and safety protocols of course) as shown in next month’s promotional flyer, and as I’ve reported previously. Take a look at these promos.

Front and center in the September 2020 LEGO Store Calendar are the upcoming LEGO City Main Square (60271), arriving in stores on September 1. I have no qualms over LEGO’s choice of building set to be featured in its Store Calendar, though I strongly feel that next month is mostly about LEGO Harry Potter, as evident through its various promotional items below. It will also be nice if the Diagon Alley (75978) had an early reveal as well in next month’s Store Calendar to make it even more exciting.

Free Exclusive BrickHeadz Hagrid and Buckbeak (40412)

Promo period: September 1 to 15, 2020

40412 3

From September 1 to 15, LEGO is throwing in this $20 worth of BrickHeadz set together with your single-receipt purchase of LEGO Harry Potter sets worth $100 and more. First introduced earlier this month, the LEGO Harry Potter BrickHeadz Hagrid and Buckbeak (40412) is a great incentive to get the latest LEGO Harry Potter sets including the upcoming LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley (75978).

Free Harry Potter and Hedwig Owl Delivery (30420)

Promo period: September 1 to 15, 2020

30420 1

Here’s another freebie for LEGO Harry Potter fans that will also run during the first half of September. Similarly from September 1 to 15, each single-receipt purchase of LEGO Harry Potter sets worth $40 and more will entitle you to a free LEGO Harry Potter and Hedwig Owl Delivery (30420) polybag.

Free Monkie Kid’s Delivery Bike (30341)

Promo period: September 7 to 13, 2020

September 2020 LEGO Store Calendar

If you time your purchases just right during the first two weeks of September, it seems that you’ll not just get two LEGO Harry Potter freebies, but also another polybag this time coming from the LEGO Monkie Kid theme. The LEGO Monkie Kid’s Delivery Bike (30341) will be added to your cart automatically (or while supplies last) from September 7 to 13 for every single-receipt purchase of any LEGO sets or products worth $35 and above. So if you’re planning to make your next LEGO purchases between these dates and are specifically eyeing for the latest LEGO HP sets, making your purchase during the second week of the month will give you the opportunity of bagging three freebies in one go.

Free LEGO Creator 3-in-1 Cat (30574)

Promo period: September 16 to 30, 2020

September 2020 LEGO Store Calendar

From the looks of it, LEGO still has something to offer even during the last half of the month. For any LEGO purchases worth $35 and more from September 16 to 30, you’ll get a free LEGO Creator 3-in-1 Cat (30574) polybag added to your cart. Coming in at 55 pieces, it’s a great way to complement any LEGO Creator sets that you will purchase while keeping the younger LEGO fanatics occupied.

So what do you think about the September 2020 LEGO Store Calendar? What are freebies and sets are you most excited about? Let us know what you think in the comments below.  And for the latest LEGO sets that are out now, be sure to check with LEGO Shop@Home.

Are We To Expect A Couple of LEGO Harry Potter GWP Sets In September?

The leaky faucet is back and this time, the news is all about the next wave of LEGO GWP or gift-with-purchase sets that will arrive next month. It is no secret that LEGO will be putting the spotlight on its line of LEGO Harry Potter sets next month, with so much in store under this theme. Given that we will also be having the LEGO Harry Potter CMF Series 2 (71028) and a new, yet to be officially revealed LEGO Diagon Alley (75978)it is but expected that LEGO will also be offering a couple of LEGO Harry Potter GWP sets to sweeten the deal.

And though we’re just counting the days before the official release of the September 2020 LEGO Store Calendar, we can now confirm what next month’s promotional deals will be. As it turns out, we can expect two LEGO Harry Potter GWP sets to be offered at this time. And our sources indicate that it will be the following:

  • LEGO Harry Potter and Hedwig: Owl Delivery (30420) polybag
  • LEGO BrickHeadz Hagrid and Buckbeak (40412)
LEGO Harry Potter and Hedwig: Owl Delivery (30420)

LEGO Harry Potter GWP

    • Qualifying purchases of LEGO Harry Potter sets worth $40 or more.
    • Promo period will be from September 1 to 15 or while supplies last.
    • Will be offered both in-store and online via LEGO Shop@Home.
LEGO BrickHeadz Hagrid and Buckbeak (40412)

LEGO Harry Potter GWP

    • Qualifying purchases of LEGO Harry Potter sets worth $100 or more.
    • Promo period will be from September 1 to 15 or while supplies last.
    • Will be offered both in-store and online via LEGO Shop@Home.
    • Valued at $19.99, this collectible BrickHeadz set comes in at 270 pieces.

These LEGO Harry Potter GWP sets are a great incentive in getting the next wave of LEGO HP sets, especially if you time your purchases just right. The price points for the qualifying purchases are also reasonable considering that you will be getting these two incentives for free if you manage to have single-receipt purchases from these licensed themes.

Be on the lookout at your local LEGO Store starting next week, especially when the next LEGO Store Calendar begins to roll out. So what do you think about our next LEGO freebies? Do you think its a great deal? Let me know what you think in the comments section below.

LEGO Store July 2020 Store Calendar Is All About Summer Fun

These and much more are highlighted in the online version of the LEGO Store July 2020 Store Calendar. Let’s take a quick look at what it has to offer.

LEGO VIPs Monthly Sweepstakes – Limited Edition Bizarro Minifigure

Enter online at the VIP Reward Center from July 13-August 2, 2020

LEGO Store July 2020

It looks like LEGO intends this to be a regular thing. Following the return of the LEGO Deadpool Duck Minifigure (SDCC 2017 promotional exclusive) as a VIP Sweepstakes prize earlier this month, another SDCC exclusive added to the roster of VIP rewards. The limited-edition LEGO DC Comics Superheroes Bizarro Minifigure is the next sweepstakes prize up for grabs. This rare minifigure made its debut at SDCC 2012 as a ComicCon promotional with only 1,000 or so minifigs made for the said event. You may enter online from July 13 to August 2, with 50 VIP points per sweepstakes entry.

And similar to previous months, the LEGO Store July 2020 Store Calendar shows no indication of any LEGO in-store activities slated for next month as a precaution against the spread of COVID-19. However, LEGO promises to gradually re-open all of its stores as long as the proper health protocols are in place. So for the time being, be sure to check out the many LEGO sets scheduled to be released in July and August such as the LEGO Disney Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse Buildable Characters (43179) and a plethora of LEGO Super Mario expansion sets to name a few.  Just click on these affiliate links to know more.

LEGO Deadpool Duck Is Back as an Exclusive LEGO VIP Reward

The LEGO VIP Rewards seems to be in the habit of bringing back old Comic-Con exclusives. After offering the LEGO SDCC 2012 Shazam minifigure as a sweepstakes reward for LEGO VIP members back in January, we now have another offering from the LEGO VIP Rewards Center that LEGO fans will be happy to have. The super rare LEGO SDCC 2017 Deadpool Duck minifigure is back and here’s our chance to get it.

Similar to the equally rare Shazam minifig, Deadpool Duck is back as part of the LEGO VIP Rewards monthly sweepstakes. Worth 50 VIP points, you can have up to 15 raffle entries if you wish to have bigger odds of winning this exclusive.

As you may know already, Deadpool Duck is the unholy combination of the two of the most revered, action-packed characters from Marvel Comics: Howard the Duck and of course, the Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool. The head of the minifigure comes from the same mold as that of Donald Duck from the LEGO Disney CMF collection, while the torso features a unique print of Deadpool’s vest which only comes in three LEGO variants, including the one from 2018’s LEGO SDCC 2018 Sheriff Deadpool, and the only Deadpool minifig that comes in a set which is from the LEGO Marvel Superheroes Wolverine’s Chopper Showdown (6866)

To make this reward extra special, LEGO is adding an acrylic case, including the original SDCC 2017 collectible packaging, together with the minifig.

LEGO Deadpool Duck

The LEGO Deadpool Duck VIP Rewards sweepstakes will run until June 21. Just be sure to check the list of countries where this promo is available.

Latest LEGO Vehicles Featured in the LEGO Store June 2020 Store Calendar

The LEGO Store June 2020 Store Calendar is now out, underscoring its latest line of brick-built vehicles including an attractive gift-with-purchase (GWP) set. Though it will take a lot of getting used to with regards to the many in-store activities that are effectively canceled in LEGO brand stores no thanks to our current pandemic, the LEGO Group has slowly adapted to the new normal by gradually opening its stores in the US. With that in mind, let’s take a quick look at what next month’s LEGO Store promotional calendar has to offer.

First off, we have some of LEGO’s most recent brick-built vehicle collection, including two of its larger sets that debuted this year: the LEGO Creator Expert Fiat 500 (10271) and the handsomely crafted LEGO Technic Dom’s Dodge Charger (42111) that took inspiration from the Fast & Furious films. Released earlier this year, we also have one of the first 8-stud wide LEGO Speed Champions sets in the form of the Ferrari F8 Tributo (76895) set. These sets and much more are all available at LEGO Shop@Home if you want to take a look.

42111 1
LEGO Technic Dom’s Dodge Charger (42111)
76895 8
LEGO Speed Champions Ferrari F8 Tributo (76895)

Similar to this month’s freebie in the form of the LEGO City Beach Buggy (30369), we now have another GWP ride that fans will appreciate. The LEGO Creator Hot Rod (40409) will be yours for free for a minimum single-receipt purchase of LEGO products worth $85 and above. The qualifying purchase needed to bag this freebie is a bit higher as compared to other promotional items this year, but being a scaled model of its predecessor, the LEGO Model Team Blue Fury (5541) from the mid-90s (re-issued in 2004 as set 10151), plus coming in with two minifigures, then I guess I will not mind the qualifying purchase. The LEGO Creator Hot Rod (40409) is valued at $13, so having it as a freebie is a welcomed deal in itself. Be sure to check with your local LEGO store or over at LEGO Shop@Home starting June 1 for this freebie’s availability since this can quickly fly off the shelves. If you wish to see more of this collectible set, then I suggest that you check out The Brothers Brick’s extensive review.

LEGO Store June 2020

As I mentioned earlier, in-store activities are still restricted in all LEGO Stores, so the usual Build-and-Take and designer signing events are effectively canceled. Most LEGO stores are only allowing curbside pickups as of to date as part of LEGO’s compliance towards physical distancing guidelines. I guess its part of the so-called new normal so, we have to eventually adapt to these new systems that are slowly taking shape.

Nevertheless, the month of June has a lot to offer other than the abovementioned sets mentioned in the LEGO Store June 2020 calendar. We have a nice collection of LEGO Friends summer 2020 sets, new LEGO Marvel sets, a new Brick Sketches theme, and even the first-ever LEGO Technic Lamborghini set all slated to arrive next month. These and much more are enough good reasons to keep on building.

Stay home and stay safe everyone!

LEGO Star Wars Death Star II Battle (40407) Building Instructions Now Available

May the 4th is now officially over, and in case you missed out on this year’s exclusive LEGO Star Wars gift-with-purchase set, you might be glad to know that LEGO servers have uploaded the building instructions for the LEGO Star Wars Death Star II Battle (40407).

LEGO Star Wars Death Star II Battle

From May 1 to 4, this promotional set was automatically given to LEGO customers whose LEGO Star Wars purchase reached $75 and above. Coming in at 235 pieces, the LEGO Star Wars Death Star II Battle (40407) follows a microscale diorama format depicting that epic trench run scene between a TIE Interceptor and Rebel A-Wing Ship from Episode VI – Return of the Jedi.

Thanks to LEGO Customer Service, we can now try to recreate this limited-edition set using its uploaded building instructions. Check out the following parts list and see if you have the parts needed to recreate this build.

40407 parts Page 1 40407 parts Page 2

Save for the exclusive 2×4 commemorative printed plate, I think you’ll need to improvise for those new 2×4 right and left wedge plates (parts 6295293 and 6295295 respectively) to somehow create a semblance of the microscaled TIE Interceptor in case you don’t have these. If you noticed, these recently released special plates are only found on two, new LEGO Star Wars sets: the Sith TIE Fighter (75272) and TIE Fighter Helmet (75274). In case you don’t have these parts, I’m sure we can find a suitable replacement for these parts to create that sleek, pointed form of the TIE Interceptor.

If you wish to build your own version of the LEGO Star Wars Death Star II Battle, you can get its building instructions for free from the LEGO Customer Service portal. On a similar note, you might be interested to know that the building instructions for last year’s similar May the 4th freebie, the LEGO Star Wars Battle of Endor 20th Anniversary Edition (40362) set, is also available for download.

And while you’re at it, be sure to check out the latest LEGO Star Wars sets now available at LEGO Shop@Home. Happy building!
