LEGO Store in Germany Confirms Christmas Gift (40292) Promotional Set

When the LEGO Store November Calendar in the US was released earlier this month, I have to admit that I find it less appealing as compared to previous offerings. The month of November as far as LEGO stores in the US are concerned, seems to be a bit lackluster, with no significant promos to expect other than the usual Double VIP points and the promise of Black Friday exclusives. Simply said, it lacked the attractive gift-with-purchase sets that are usually given out once the holiday season begins. However, with the recent confirmation of the micro-scaled LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley (40289) as a November promotional freebie in LEGO Stores in the US and at shop.LEGO.com, it looks like LEGO has intentionally omitted some of its promotional offers from its US November LEGO Store Calendar. While our attention was focused on the new micro-scaled LEGO Harry Potter set, the LEGO Store in China has revealed that aside from the Diagon Alley (40289), we can expect another limited edition, holiday-themed promotional set to be released anytime soon in the form of the LEGO Christmas Gift (40292) set.

Other than the LEGO Store in China, it looks like the LEGO Store in Germany is now reporting that the LEGO Christmas Gift (40292) is also their November GWP set together with the micro-scaled Diagon Alley (40289). As shared by Promobricks, their LEGO Store November Calendar flyers are now available to fans and with it, German LEGO fans can expect a month filled with nice freebies and promotional items. From November 5 to 21 for example, fans can have the Diagon Alley (40289) for free together with a single receipt minimum purchase of 80 Euros; and the Christmas Gift (40292) set from November 20 to 26. To add, there is also the LEGO Seasonal Penguin Girl (5005251) which first came to our attention last July. This collectible minifigure will be given away for free across LEGO Stores in Germany from November 22 to 26.

Now that LEGO Stores in China and Germany have confirmed the availability of the LEGO Christmas Gift (40292) will be available in their respective regions, I guess the obvious question is, will it be available in the US as well.

It’s difficult to say at this time, but it is worthwhile to note that LEGO has uploaded a page dedicated for the Christmas Gift (40292) set. There is nothing much to see here, however, the product blurb mentions that this particular set will contain 301 pieces and has a retail value of $19.99 as you can see below.

We just have to cross our fingers and patiently wait if and when this next LEGO holiday exclusive will be available in the US. Thanks again to Promobricks and their readers for sharing this info.

These New LEGO Stores Gave Away 500 Limited and Exclusive Minifigures

These past few months we covered the upcoming openings of several new LEGO stores across the country: new branches in South Carolina, Louisiana, New York, and more. In fact, some opened even earlier than were originally announced, and in the same LEGO Store opening fashion, some giveaways were handed out.

When new LEGO Stores in Lakeside Shopping Center in Metairie, Metro New Orleans and in Ross Park Mall in Pittsburgh opened their doors to LEGO shoppers last weekend, the first 500 customers of each were presented with commemorative minifigures to mark the occasions, and each is appropriately dressed for the location.

The Louisiana minifigure is a funky jazz saxophonist dressed in a green and purple outfit, the colors of Mardi Gras. His Pittsburgh counterpart is a hockey player, whose blank black jersey happens to share the home colors of the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins. Both minifigures come in a LEGO Store Grand Opening foil pack with the names of the store locations as you can see from the images below shared by fans over Reddit.

In past LEGO brand store openings, the “first-500” welcoming gift had been a 3-pack of minifigures. With LEGO Stores now popping up all over like mushrooms, the cutting down to one is understandable; they even managed to match city themes. In case you’re wondering if they’re printed at the back, yes they are. According to those fortunate enough to grab their free LEGO swag, the backs of these minifigures are printed with the name of the LEGO Store where they were given away.

Of course, with the respective openings already over and done with, there’s no telling if there’ll be more of the New Orleans and Pittsburgh LEGO minifigures. They both were numbered in a 500 limited production run, so chances are, no. Perhaps somebody will eventually sell them for inflated prices online, but it’s up to you if you’ll keep an eye out for these or not.

The Micro-scaled LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley (40289) Coming In November

After reporting on the appearance of the official images of the micro-scaled LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley (40289) set over at LEGO’s online servers, we finally have confirmation that this rendition of the famous street from Potter lore is now LEGO’s next gift-with-purchase. LEGO Shop@Home has been updated once more, specifically mentioning that the set will be available as a free promotional from November 9 to 21 at any local LEGO Store and on shop.LEGO.com.

LEGO Star Wars Kessel Mine Worker (40299) Minifigure Spotted for Sale at LEGOLAND California

When this month was still rather new, LEGO released on one of its retail partners, Barnes & Noble, a rather uncommon minifigure polybag that ties in to Solo: A Star Wars Story, released just months ago. The LEGO Star Wars Kessel Mine Worker (40299) minifigure is yet another jazzed-up minifig with an accompanying display stand similar to that of the Mud-Trooper Han Solo (40300).

Still, it’s not as if there are Barnes & Noble stores everywhere. Fortunately, LEGO means to save collectors in California the trouble of hunting LEGO Star Wars Kessel Mine Worker (40299) minifigure down by having their LEGOLAND theme park carry it.

Whereas Barnes & Noble has a minimum LEGO purchase threshold in order to get the 40299 polybag free, LEGOLAND California has the Kessel Mine Worker for straight purchase at the same price as the LEGO Star Wars DJ (40298) from The Last Jedi at $2.99 apiece. That is however a tad more expensive than the Barnes & Noble alternative straight purchase price of $1.27 only.

Meanwhile, LEGOLAND California also has the Mud-Trooper Han Solo polybag available for the same minimum purchase requirement as in Shop@Home; that’s $35 in LEGO Star Wars stuff. Visitors to California’s LEGOLAND resort who are searching for these minifigs are in luck for the foreseeable future.

LEGO Forma Indiegogo Campaign is Almost Over

Last month, LEGO wowed fans of the older spectrum that goes for big sets and the Technic line with a new theme. The ingeniously conceptualized LEGO Forma involves a stand and internal framework structure, over which goes a foil “skin” to create some truly artistic designs like some colorful fish.

What’s particularly notable about Forma was that LEGO debuted and promoted it on a crowdsourcing platform, namely Indiegogo. The idea behind this direction was that it could reasonably measure fan interest in LEGO Forma to see if consumers will be buying sets of the line for long after its release.

Of course, that was back in September. Crowdsourcing campaigns have a time limit, and that of LEGO Forma on Indiegogo is about to run down. There’s about half a month’s worth of days left, though there’s really no pressure left on the line. LEGO’s campaign goal after all has already been met a mind-blowing 1,107 percent with 5,539 perks claimed.

With the LEGO Forma campaign having two weeks remaining on crowdsourcing, only 600  and 300 Super Boxes are left to claim in the US and UK respectively. On the Super Box deal, interested LEGO fans can have the Forma Koi model (81000) plus three alternate skins, Shark (81001), Splash Koi (81002), and Ink Koi (81003). Forma on Indiegogo ends by November 6 and fans will get their sets delivered at the start of next year.

LEGO Star Wars BB-8 (40288) Polybag from May the 4th 2018 Back at Shop@Home UK

LEGO Star Wars is definitely one of the best-selling licensed product lines in the gigantic toy company’s whole catalog. It’s easily seen from the various events, freebies and exclusives from LEGO Store and Shop@Home over the years. One might remember LEGO’s May the 4th 2018 contribution, a free micro-build BB-8 polybag with a certain amount of LEGO purchases on site.

The year’s isn’t out yet, but it seems LEGO Shop@Home UK is bringing the BB-8 set (40288) from May the 4th back. Even better, they’re reducing the minimum total purchase price needed to have this polybag added to shoppers’ carts.

So, anybody in the UK who hasn’t gotten the 40288 polybag in May will be happy to know they’ll spend less getting it this time around. A minimum total purchase tag of £30 in LEGO Star Wars products is enough to get BB-8 (40288) for a belated May the 4th.

Early Holiday shopping has never been as rewarding as with LEGO. In addition to this returning promotional polybag, recall that Shop@Home is at double VIP points until the end of October. Buying enough LEGO Star Wars stuff to earn 40288 ought to also make for a nice VIP point haul.

LEGOLAND Germany Also Giving Away 2018 Halloween Commemorative Brick

Years ago, LEGOLAND theme parks during special occasions such as Halloween would make available promotional LEGO bricks for their guests as souvenirs. These bricks are 2×4 and thicker than most, to allow commemorative art to be painted on its sides. The practice wore off recently but seeing a resurgence now.

This was first noted by us here on The Brick Show almost two weeks ago, when we reported that LEGOLAND Dubai’s own Halloween extravaganza for the month of October also included a giveaway of a promotional LEGO brick. Germany’s followed suit with LEGOLAND Deutschland bringing out its own commemorative piece.

Where LEGOLAND Dubai’s Halloween 2018 brick is orange with a bat motif, their Deutschland counterpart is going for a yellow piece, also 2×4 pegs, printed on one side with a logo of the theme park, on the other with a minifigure in a spider costume holding a spider in hand.

News of the LEGOLAND Halloween brick for Germany was showcased on German LEGO news source Promo Bricks, along with a rundown of activities and events for the spooky occasion all through the end of October. More information on these festivity highlights can be found on the LEGOLAND Deutschland official website.

LEGO Christmas Ornament Reindeer Head (5005253) Polybag Revealed

UPDATE: Official images of the LEGO Christmas Ornament Reindeer Head (5005253) has now been uploaded via LEGO’s servers so we can be sure that this will be listed at shop.LEGO.com any time soon.

Tis the season of the year to be seeing the emergence of Holiday-themed LEGO sets indeed. We’ve seen the Advent Calendars and new Winter Village buildings. And thanks to an early Store Calendar release in China we learned of the LEGO Christmas Box (40292) gift set. But wait; there’s more! Corny infomercial line aside, if you took a closer look at the Chinese LEGO Store November Calendar we shared with you previously, you’ll notice a special polybag right next to the image of the micro-scaled LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley (40289) set. That’s a new LEGO Christmas Ornament Reindeer Head (5005253) polybag for 2018.

LEGO Christmas Ornament Reindeer Head (5005253)

5005253 alt1

Yep, for this year LEGO’s offering a hanging ornament for your Christmas tree in the shape of a reindeer’s head (5005253). It’s pretty much a collection of LEGO pieces that would look like a flat deer’s head when put together, along with a printed 1×2 tile that says 2018.

This is likely another promotional item that’ll be given away for every minimum purchase at LEGO Stores or Shop@Home. For now, only China has been known to announce it, but all other major LEGO markets ought to be following suit. Getting this out before Halloween is always a great idea to avoid the Holiday rush.

New LEGO Christmas Box (40292) Gift With Purchase Set Announced

The LEGO Store November Calendar in China has made its way online, and it gives us a glimpse of our next limited edition, seasonal gift with purchase (GWP) set just in time for the holidays. Bouwsteentjes has shared an image of the said calendar, and with it comes the reveal of the LEGO Christmas Box (40292).

As you can see, there are also other familiar promotions such as the rumored microscaled LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley (40289) which we will talk later on, and the LEGO Minifigure Collector Frame (5005359). However, the most noticeable and appealing of all is the new LEGO Christmas Box (40292). Similar to the concept and design of Newt’s Case of Magical Creatures (75952), the LEGO Christmas Box features a holiday-themed vignette cleverly hidden inside a gift box. The build itself has a removable lid and opens at the middle to reveal a cozy, indoor holiday winter scene.

LEGO Christmas Box

Being a limited edition promotional gift with purchase set, it should be expected that limited quantities will be available once this is offered at the end of the month. I’m not quite sure if it will also follow the same time frame in the US and the rest of the world, but you can bet that it will come in limited quantities.

If we read it right, the LEGO Store November Calendar from China also mentions a specific number of the LEGO Christmas Box sets that will be given away. If that is the case, then better expect that this set will surely go out fast.

LEGO Christmas Box

I love the idea behind a surprise build, similar to the recently announced LEGO Ideas Pop-Up Book (21315). It’s those little surprises that make a LEGO set extra special, even more as it comes as a limited edition, seasonal set.  I just hope that LEGO will upload its official images soon so we can have a better look.

So what do you think about the LEGO Christmas Box (40292)? Do you think it’s worth the trip to your LEGO Store or that additional purchase online? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

LEGO Double VIP Points Promo Now Up At LEGO Shop@Home

Every now and then, LEGO launches a small period wherein certain purchases at Shop@Home made under a VIP membership will accumulate double the usual points. We saw that in action earlier this month when LEGO Shop@Home introduced Double Points for purchasing two particular LEGO Star Wars sets, particularly the X-Wing Starfighter (75218) and Yoda’s Hut (75208). Apparently LEGO is feeling more generous as October gets to the halfway point and the Holidays start coming in force. Well as of this writing, they have Shop@Home holding a LEGO double VIP points promo to last until the 31st, and this time it’s now available for all LEGO purchases.

Through out the month of October, all online LEGO VIP shoppers at Shop@Home will be getting double VIP points on all LEGO products purchased this month. If shoppers have held off on buying those big, new LEGO sets such as the Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle (71043) and the more holiday-appropriate Creator Winter Village Fire Station (10263), then it will be wise to take advantage of the LEGO double VIP points promo while it is still up.

It probably also bears reminding that this is also the beginning of the promo period for the LEGO Minifigure Collector Frame (5005359), with one exclusive collectible minifigure. It comes free with any minimum LEGO purchase of $75, and a must for minifigure collectors.
