Here’s A Closer Look at the LEGO Amelia Earhart Tribute (40450)

The March 2021 LEGO Store Calendar is now up, revealing a promotional, limited-edition freebie that celebrates the life and accomplishments of one of the most revered names in aviation. The LEGO Amelia Earhart Tribute (40450) has been announced and now thanks to a LEGO-certified store in Australia, we can now have a better look at this gift-with-purchase set.

Bricks Megastore has published a couple of high-resolution images of the LEGO Amelia Earhart Tribute (40450), giving us a closer look at her iconic red Lockheed Vega 5B. Affectionally referred to by Earhart as her “Little Red Bus”, this brick-built display set comes with plenty of details including some yellow sticker details on the side and the plane’s registration number at the tip of its right side wing and tail. The plane also rests on top of a brick-built, oval platform with a 2×4 plate bearing the name Amelia Earhart, Aviation Pioneer. I was hoping that these might be printed parts actually, but having it as a GWP set, then I guess I have no complaints about it.

The minifigure that comes with this set seems to be exclusive as well. Its torso comes printed with a new aviation suit with Earhart’s signature tie. The head print seems to be unique as well with some minute details added near her eyes and cheek giving it a rough, ready-to-fly anytime look. For the accessories, her official minifigure version comes with a leather cap, flying goggles, and a 2×2 printed tile. I’m not quite sure if this is a new printed tile piece considering that the map itself has flight path markings. I actually love what LEGO did here with all its attention to detail.

And though I’m still unsure why LEGO will release such a promotional set at this time considering that historically her Amelia Earhart’s flight happened sometime in May of 1932, I appreciate LEGO’s thoughtful design of the set’s box art. It has her face printed on the upper right corner of the box instead of the typical limited-edition logo. We also have the year ‘1932’ printed on the side of the box in reference to Earhart’s legendary flight across the Atlantic Ocean.

The LEGO Amelia Earhart Tribute (40450) will be available from March 6 to 14 or until supplies last and will be added to your cart automatically once your LEGO purchase reaches $100 and above. It’s on a bit higher qualifying price range but I guess it’s fine considering the fine details of this set and the limited-edition minifigure that comes with it. Expect this set to be in high demand once it is available in March, so I suggest that you plan your next LEGO purchase during these promo dates.

LEGO Ideas Vintage Car (40448) Gift-With-Purchase Set Coming in January 2021

Last week, we reported on a rumor that was making rounds across the LEGO fan community that the next LEGO Ideas set may already be on its way towards LEGO brand stores and at LEGO Shop@Home anytime soon. And to make it even more special, the rumored release of the LEGO Ideas Medieval Blacksmith in January 2021, will be accompanied by the next gift-with-purchase (GWP) set coming from the fan-inspired theme. And from the looks of it, the LEGO Ideas Vintage Car (40448) is all poised to be the initial GWP set of 2021. Since we don’t have any better images as of the moment, I guess we just have to settle for this one. I’ll update this post once LEGO releases their official images.

According to Promobricks, the LEGO Ideas Vintage Car will be added to your LEGO shopping cart automatically for every single-receipt qualifying purchase of any LEGO products worth 85 euros or more via LEGO Shop@Home and at LEGO brand stores. The promo may last until the middle of January 2021 or while supplies last.

If you recall, the LEGO Ideas Vintage Car emerged as the overall winner in the LEGO Ideas Build a Vintage Car building contest held in the latter part of 2019, earning more than 1,400 LEGO fan votes among other entries. This upcoming freebie is based on the creation of LEGO fan Versteinert and his Aedelsten Deluxe MOC. There’s not much of a difference from the fan version to that of the final LEGO Ideas version, save for some minor changes in the front of the car and details on the minifigure couple included with the set.

We haven’t heard anything yet from LEGO US regarding this next promotional freebie, but I can safely guess that more details (and even perhaps a better, closer look) about the LEGO Ideas Vintage Car (40448) may appear on the copy of the January 2021 LEGO Store Calendar which will be uploaded to LEGO servers anytime soon. 2019 LEGO Christmas Tree (40338) Gift-With-Purchase Set Revealed

LEGO seems to be on a roll as we feel more and more of the Christmas vibe in the air. After revealing the Gingerbread House (10267) and LEGO BrickHeadz Reindeer, Elf & Elfie (40353), we now have another seasonal set to add to that Winter Village MOC that you might be working on, or just to simply have around as a pretty neat holiday decor around the house. Thanks to Promobricks, we now have a first look at this year’s LEGO Christmas Tree (40338) gift-with-purchase (GWP) seasonal set.

If you recall, this promotional set has been like a sort of tradition for the LEGO Group every holiday season, similar to the likes of last year’s LEGO Christmas Carousel (40293) and LEGO Christmas Box (40292). Both sets came with a certain qualifying purchase, and both looked lovely as holiday-inspired sets. Similarly, we can also expect that the LEGO Christmas Tree (40338) will be available to all LEGO fans perhaps as part once again of this year’s Black Friday deals.

The LEGO Christmas Tree (40338) comes in at 392 pieces and features a better version of a brick-built Christmas tree. It features several cool touches such as a rotating base, a series of nicely colored brick-built gift boxes, a microscaled train, and several colorful bulbs that imitate the tree’s flashing lights. By far, this is the best Christmas tree model that LEGO came up with at a very long time.

I’ll keep you posted once more info comes in regarding this set’s availability. But as I said, I’m assuming that this promotional set will go live once Black Friday 2019 kicks in, similar to what LEGO did in the past. Furthermore, we can also expect another LEGO seasonal Christmas set to be offered before the year ends so I’ll keep an eye on that as well. Thanks again to Promobricks for sharing this.

LEGO Star Wars Battle of Endor 20th Anniversary Edition (40362) Revealed!

This year’s Triple Force Friday LEGO gift-with-purchase (GWP) set has now been revealed. Following the news of what to expect from this grand Star Wars sales event, we now have official images of the LEGO Star Wars Battle of Endor 20th Anniversary Edition (40362), slated to be released as an October 4 promotional. Taking its cue from May the 4th’s LEGO Star Wars Battle of Hoth 20th Anniversary Edition (40333) released earlier this year, this latest GWP also captures in mini-scale, diorama format one of the most memorable scenes in the Star Wars film franchise.

The Battle of Endor 20th Anniversary Edition (40362) features all the familiar elements and characters of this iconic Episode VI battle. We have a couple of AT-STs and a bunker amidst a foliage of brick-built trees and shrubs. The white studs I assume are the rebels, while Chewbacca (?) is represented by two brown studs.

Here’s LEGO’s official statement about this GWP set.

“Celebrate the Triple Force Friday and the 20th anniversary of the LEGO Star Wars construction toys with the awesome Battle of Endor scene from Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi with the AT-ST Runners and mini models of the Speeder Bikes. “

Well, according to this statement there should be Speeder Bikes included in this diorama, though I really can’t exactly point my finger to it based on these images. Similar to its predecessor, this set also includes the exclusive 20 Years of LEGO Star Wars 2×4 tile prominently displayed in front of the set. One thing that I also notice other than the lack of Speeder Bikes in these images is the missing 20 Years of LEGO Star Wars logo on the box art. Its kind of weird to include a GWP set that proudly features an exclusive anniversary tile without including the logo on the box art itself. If you recall, the rest of the LEGO Star Wars 20th anniversary sets prominently displays this logo on its boxes, so I hope to see this on the Battle of Endor 20th Anniversary Edition (40362) box art as well.

It is also highly probable that this free gift which comes at 197 pieces, will be available for every single-receipt purchase of LEGO Star Wars product worth $75 USD and more. It’s a great freebie if you’re looking forward to purchasing any of the upcoming LEGO Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker sets, or the LEGO Star Wars UCS Imperial Star Destroyer (75252).

LEGO Star Wars Mini Droid Commander Promotional Coming in September

From the looks of things, there is another gift-with-purchase (GWP) set slated to be released next month to add to your LEGO Star Wars collections. If you recall earlier in April, we saw this year’s first LEGO Star Wars GWP in the form of the mini Battle of Hoth 20th Anniversary (40333) promotional set. The set features the exclusive 20 Years of LEGO Star Wars promotional tile piece, plus a nice micro-scaled build of an AT-AT and a pair of Snowspeeders. As it seems, another LEGO Star Wars GWP is on its way to LEGO Stores according to a report from Stonewars. The source of the info came from an Instagram post of what seems to be a snapshot from a LEGO Store promotional flyer highlighting the LEGO Star Wars Mini Droid Commander.

The LEGO Star Wars Mini Droid Commander can easily pass for a polybag promo coming in at approximately 40+ pieces. It features an R2-D2 minifigure, plus microbuilds of a Gonk and Mouse Droid figures atop of a brick-built platform. Similar to the Battle of Hoth 20th Anniversary set, the Mini Droid Commander also sports the exclusive commemorative tile which truly makes this microbuild standout. It’s a great display set especially if you happen to purchase its larger counterpart the LEGO Star Wars Droid Commander (75253). Since the month of September is just around the corner, we can expect more info to trickle down the pipes on when and how we can avail of this promotional. It’s not a longshot to consider that perhaps we can expect this to be officially revealed via the LEGO Store Calendar for September. This Year’s Limited Edition Christmas Gift With Purchase is the Iconic Nutcracker (40254)

LEGO’s November Store Calendar has revealed that this year’s Christmas gift with purchase (GWP) promotional will be the classic, buildable Nutcracker (40254). For a very, very limited time period (from November 24 to 27 only), this set comes as a freebie for any single receipt purchase of any LEGO products worth $99 and above, both online and in-store. The Nutcracker (40254) is a similar promo like that of last year’s Snowglobe (40223) giveaway. With only four days of window time for this set’s availability during Brick Friday and over the following weekend, expect this set to fly off the shelves rather quickly.

As expected from limited edition sets such as this, there is already an eBay listing of the LEGO Seasonal Nutcracker as early as now. Check out these official images of the Nutcracker (40254).

In case, you want to give it a try right now, you may build your own LEGO Nutcracker (40254) using the building instructions uploaded by LEGO. You may download it here and see if you have the pieces that you can use. As far as I see it, there seems to be no particular piece exclusive to this set, so building it may be relatively easy.
