LEGO Star Wars Kessel Mine Worker (40299) Minifigure Now Available at Barnes & Noble

If a limited edition LEGO minifigure is of the Star Wars line, then there’s a chance that it will be given some extra attention. We’ve already seen this trend over the past year with numerous limited edition LEGO Star Wars minifigures such as the 2017’s R3-M2 (40268) and DJ (40298), and the most recent being Mud-trooper Han Solo (40300) himself. The latter is now available over at Shop@Home for every minimum $35 LEGO purchase, but he’s not the only one and that’s not the only place where it’s going on. And now it looks like it will soon be followed a similar promo offered only at Barnes & Noble: the LEGO Star Wars Kessel Mine Worker (40299).

According to a report by fellow news source,  The Brick Fan, this next exclusive LEGO Star Wars collectible minifigure is currently available as a gift-with-purchase over at Barnes & Noble for a certain minimum amount. To be precise, the Kessel Mine Worker (40299) can be yours to keep for any single receipt, LEGO Star Wars purchase worth $29.95 and above at B & N.

This Barnes & Noble promotion is said to run until October 18. But apparently if you can’t be bothered to by any other LEGO Star Wars sets from them to hit the minimum, then you can apparently buy the Kessel Mine Worker (40299) polybag itself for only $1.27 apiece. What are you waiting for?

LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader’s Castle (75251) Revealed!

A new LEGO Star Wars set has been revealed just in time for the holidays. The LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader’s Castle (75251) has been revealed and will be available exclusively for pre-order via Amazon. The set features the franchise’s most iconic villain in his intimidating crib at planet Mustafar. The idea of giving the infamous Sith Lord a place of his own has been in the minds of Star Wars film writers for a long time, and it was finally realized when it was first introduced in the big screen in Rogue One.

If you recall, this is also the place where the emotional and heart-wrenching confrontation between Anakin (before he turned to Darth Vader) and Obi-Wan took place in one of the final scenes in The Revenge of the Sith. Now, LEGO Star Wars fans can finally build this castle with LEGO’s most recent offering.

Darth Vader’s Castle (75251) comes in at 1,060 pieces and features 4 levels. It also includes Vader’s famous TIE Advanced Fighter and five minifigures, which includes two versions of Darth Vader, 2 Royal Guards, and 1 Imperial Transport Pilot. WATCH: This LEGO Star Wars Porg (75230) Speed Build Video Gives You A Fun Background of Ahch-To’s Most Famous Bird

Let me start by saying that I’m not really an uber fan of the Porgs – those little, wide-eyed birds that Chewie love to snack on at the planet Ahch-To from The Last Jedi. Well, I don’t hate them, but I don’t really go crazy over them either. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why I really don’t admire LEGO’s latest brick rendition of this Star Wars creature. But a recent video posted by io9 somehow gives me a different perspective and appreciation on how Star Wars creature creators came up with the idea of adding the Porg in the Star Wars franchise. io9 video producer Tom Caswell gives us a bit of a back story on the creation of the Porg, while adding a nice LEGO twist: he does this while doing a LEGO Star Wars Porg (75230) speed build. Watch his video below.

Truth be told, there are already a handful of speed build and review videos of the LEGO Star Wars Porg out there, but I have to say that this video from io9 is the most entertaining to watch. This speed build video also underscores the creative process and the considerations that The Last Jedi’s set designers took in crafting the Porg. I may not be a fan of this extraterrestrial avian species, but I surely admire and respect the people behind its creation. Furthermore, though this particular LEGO Star Wars Porg (75230) speed build video may be less than 3 minutes, it actually took Tom a total of 3 hours to build this brick-built bird. With 811 pieces to boot, the LEGO Star Wars Porg is a “life-sized”, 7-inch replica of the TLJ Porg as we saw in the film. The set itself has 6 bags right out of the box, with Bag #6 containing the final pieces to build the Porg’s head. It also comes with a UCS-style plaque.

lego porg 3

A simple lever mechanism at the back of the build, at the tail to be exact, allows for certain play functions such as making the LEGO Porg flaps its wings and open its mouth. The back of the LEGO Porg is pretty impressive as well – I like the attention to detail and how this is achieved by using a variety of jagged LEGO pieces and cheese slopes to recreate a feather-like effect. However, I wish LEGO designers added an option of keeping the mouth and wings extended to add variety in terms of posing the set. In any case, this is one LEGO Star Wars set that you might want to have as a nice desktop or table top accessory. It may even be a breath of fresh air among all those LEGO Star Wars star ships that you have amassed over the years.

The LEGO Star Wars Porg (75230) will be released on October 1, and is now listed at shop.LEGO.com with a retail price of $69.99.

LEGO Star Wars Porg (75230) Now Officially Up at shop.LEGO.com

As early as last month, news has started to come in regarding the availability of the brick-built version of the most polarizing avian species in recent Star Wars lore. Love them or hate them, it seems that LEGO has already reserved a soft spot for The Last Jedi’s Porg, and has kept its availability under strict control since the infamous leaks of the LEGO Star Wars Porg (75230) came out earlier this year. Now that The Last Jedi’s luster is starting to diminish, followed by the equally received Solo: A Star Wars Movie, I guess LEGO has no more reasons to hold back.

Recently, LEGO’s servers have been updated to now include official images of the UCS-like LEGO Star Wars Porg (75230) set. Now listed at shop.LEGO.com, this particular Porg will be available to LEGO Star Wars fans starting October 1. The set will retail for $69.99 and comes in at 811 pieces. Read on for the full product description and some official images.

Check Out This Very First Video Review of the LEGO Star Wars Betrayal at Cloud City (75222)

Starting September 13, LEGO VIP card holders will now have the chance to bag the very first LEGO set tagged with the Master Builder seal approval. The LEGO Star Wars Betrayal at Cloud City (75222) brings together the most memorable and iconic scenes from the Empire Strikes Back under one, featured-pack LEGO Star Wars set. So before you head over at your local LEGO Store or hit that buy button at shop.LEGO.com, the cool guys of IGN gives as a sampling of what to expect from this 2,800+ piece set. Thanks to Max Scoville and Brian Altano, it looks like we have our very first video review of the LEGO Star Wars Betrayal at Cloud City (75222). Check out their video below.

Nothing beats seeing the actual set, and this is especially true with the Betrayal at Cloud City (75222). I have to say that I didn’t imagine this to be this huge. The footprint alone for the completed build is quite impressive. As revealed by LEGO through the set’s official press release earlier last month, this very first Master Builder set comes with tons of play features that sets it apart from other LEGO Star Wars UCS, sets which is mostly meant for display. However, I have to agree with the IGN people that the set does not even remotely look like the Cloud City as we know from the films. In fact, the overall feel and design of the LEGO Star Wars Betrayal at Cloud City (75222) makes it look like a cross-sectioned Death Star.

75222 review

Though some older LEGO fans may consider this as a turn-off for certain reasons, the Betrayal of Cloud City (75222) set makes up for it through the sheer number of minifigures and play features that are included into it. The set comes with a whopping 18 minifigures, including minibuilds of Boba Fett’s Slave I, an all-red Twin-Pod Cloud Car, and the iconic Han Solo in carbonite prison plus several action-packed features to relive those unforgettable Star Wars Episode V scenes.

Thanks once again to IGN for sharing this first video review of the LEGO Star Wars Betrayal at Cloud City (75222). And in case you’ve set your eyes to this set as a first day buy (and with enough cash to spare), this first Master Builder set will retail for $349.99 USD and will be available starting tomorrow at shop.LEGO.com and all LEGO brand stores in the US and other parts of the globe.

New LEGO Star Wars 2-in-1 Super Packs Spotted at CostCo

The initial wave of 2018 sets for LEGO Star Wars included several battle scene packs that usually comprised several minifigures with props and a brick-built vehicle or two of some sort. They were functional recreations of key fight scenes from the franchise and thus offered more playability than vehicle sets. Lately Star Wars news site Rebelscum has reported the sighting of a special LEGO Star Wars set in warehouse retailer CostCo. Instagrammer YakFace describes it as a LEGO Star Wars 2-in-1 Super Packs, containing a couple of this year’s LEGO Star Wars releases, particularly two Battle Pack sets.

The LEGO Star Wars 2-in-1 Super Packs include Battle Pack sets such as the First Order Specialists Battle Pack (75197) and Tatooine Battle Pack (75198). Also seen are Super Packs containing Jedi and Clone Troopers Battle Pack (75206) and Imperial Patrol Battle Pack (75207). These individual LEGO Star Wars sets each have four minifigures and a central vehicle prop.

Rebelscum believes these Super Packs may be LEGO exclusives available at CostCo, and with the $23.99 asking price, they’re definitely a superior deal than buying the two sets in their separate boxes. LEGO Star Wars fans who have more than enough saved to buy Betrayal at Cloud City (75222) this coming Thursday might consider picking one of these up extra at their nearest CostCo store.

LEGO Star Wars Magazine Issue 39 with Obi-Wan Kenobi Pilot Minifigure and Trading Card Now Available

One good thing about some official LEGO Magazines for some of its major licensed franchises is that sometimes their freebies are fairly uncommon little things. They can, for instance, be a certain minifigure from a large set; but as a freebie in a LEGO mag you get one technically free. That’s the deal going with the latest LEGO Star Wars Magazine Issue 39 of the official LEGO Star Wars Magazine, as it features one of the minifigures from the LEGO Star Wars set for the Jedi Starfighter with Hyperdrive (75191): Obi-Wan Kenobi. This is a fairly uncommon rendering of the Jedi Master as pilot.

LEGO Star Wars Magazine Issue 39

As for other content, LEGO Star Wars fans will certainly enjoy another month’s issue filled with fun puzzles, posters for their walls, and a variety of LEGO-styled comic stories. Some of them are tied into the included pilot Obi-Wan minifigure, but there’s also a mag promo to win a Kessel Run Millennium Falcon set (75212).

If you’re keeping up with collecting the new LEGO Star Wars trading cards introduced last month, then you’ll get the limited edition card LE02 from this issue 39 of the mag. Naturally, it’s Obi-Wan Kenobi. The official LEGO Star Wars Magazine from The Egmont Group is priced at £3.99 and is available now in Europe.

LEGO Star Wars Porg (75230) October Release Confirmed

Exactly a month ago, we first looked at one of LEGO’s closely guarded secrets from the LEGO Star Wars The Last Jedi theme. There were mixed reactions when the first images of the LEGO Star Wars Porg (75230)  started to come in, ranging from absolutely adorable to downright horrific. This avian-inspired build is perhaps the most polarized LEGO Star Wars set, probably next to the Assault on Hoth (75098) UCS set released in 2016. Regardless if you find yourself spending your hard-earned cash for the LEGO Star Wars Porg or would instead turn your eyes and walk away from it, we still don’t have information on its exact release date until today. Thanks again to LEGO Store Budapest; we now have details on when the LEGO Star Wars Porg will most likely be released. If you recall, the LEGO Store in Budapest was also at the front lines in announcing the release date of the LEGO Creator Expert Aston Martin DB5 (10262) set last July. As announced on their website, the LEGO Store Budapest will accept pre-orders for the LEGO Star Wars Porg (75230) beginning October 1.

LEGO Star Wars Porg (75230)

The Budapest LEGO Store will accept pre-orders via its website until September 28 or until supplies last. Furthermore, the site also mentions that the LEGO Star Wars Porg will be released to the public on October 8, which will likely be the same with other LEGO brand stores globally and at shop.LEGO.com. If this is the case, then we can expect an official press release from LEGO any time soon. The LEGO Star Wars Porg (75230) is said to come in at 811 pieces and will retail in the US for $69.99. Stay tuned for more updates—image credit to the LEGO Store Budapest for the LEGO Star Wars Porg photos above.

LEGO Fans in London Will Have A Head Start in Being the First Owners of a LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon (75192) Set!

LEGO has made it official: several LEGO VIP members in London may now become the very first proud owners of the massively cool, LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon (75192) ahead of the set’s global release on October 1. Posted as a Facebook event, LEGO announces the midnight launch of the famed 7,500+ piece set at London’s LEGO flagship store at Leicester Square. Here are the details.

UCS Millennium Falcon (75192)

scaled img 1465

LEGO Star Wars fans rejoice! The time to celebrate the arrival of the biggest ever LEGO set has come!

Come join us and become one of the first owners* of the brand new LEGO® Star Wars™ Ultimate Collector Series Millennium Falcon 75192.

We will be opening the LEGO Store at Leicester Square on September 13th at 11:59 PM for the release of this epic set!

The first 100 people to purchase this set will receive a limited edition LEGO VIP card** entitling the bearer to exclusive VIP benefits in 2018.

You can even have your LEGO Star Wars set signed by the LEGO Designers Jens Kronvold Frederiksen and Michael Lee Stockwell.

Line up early to ensure entry, as space is limited. Looking forward to see there.

Though LEGO’s announcement of the Falcon’s first 100 sets being made available for the first 100 customers who will hold a vigil on the 13th, the post didn’t mention exactly how many sets will the store be able to sell on that day. Rebelscum seems to stumble upon an intel that suggests that the LEGO London Leicester Store will be able to hold stocks for 147 sets and no more, considering the sheer size of these sets and its box dimensions. Once sold out (which I reckon will be very, very quickly), the UCS Millennium Falcon (75192) will only be available again during its global release on October 1.

UCS Millennium Falcon (75192)

Another interesting bit of novelty that comes with the perks of being the very first owner of the UCS Millennium Falcon is the privilege of having your UCS MF sets signed by its respective designers. However, the lead designer for the 75192 Hans Burkhard Schlömer (who goes by the name BrickCommander over at Brickset) has confirmed that he will not be around during the signing.

Hans with UCS MF

Nevertheless, there are still plenty of good things in store even if you missed out on meeting Hans in person. Being one of the very first LEGO Star Wars faithful to own the UCS Falcon also allows you to be the proud holder of a limited edition black and silver LEGO VIP Card – a fitting tribute to the world’s largest LEGO set. As The Brick Fan pointed out, LEGO released the very first Ultimate Collector’s Millennium Falcon (10179) back in 2007 together with a Certificate of Authenticity. Now fast forward 10 years later, a set as grand as 75192 is also expected to land in LEGO stores with a sense of exclusivity. Though there seem to be no double VIP points offered during this period, being an owner of this exclusive black VIP card will entitle its bearer to special LEGO Star Wars promotions slated in 2018. According to sources, LEGO fans in the US who will purchase the 75192 until the end of this year, both in-store and online (given that there are still stocks left), will also be entitled to this exclusive LEGO VIP card.

LEGO VIP cardjpg

LEGO fans in London surely have the larger share of the brick-built pie on this one, and the rest of us will have to wait until October to secure our own copy. We’re not sure if this midnight launch promotional on the 13th will only be limited or exclusive to the LEGO Store in Leicester Square – we’ll keep our eyes and ears open for more news on this side of the galaxy so be sure to bookmark our site and sign-up for our notifications.

LEGO Finally Releases Official Images of The LEGO Star Wars The Last Jedi Sets – Now Available At LEGO Shop@Home

Force Friday II is now upon us, and has officially kicked off in North America and the rest of the world. A few moments ago, LEGO has finally made it official to reveal their LEGO Star Wars The Last Jedi sets. Frankly, this is not much of a secret anymore since the internet has been rife with all of these images since the rumor went pandemic as early as spring of this year. We also did a write-up where we showed you these images before based on certain retailer sites where these sets were posted for pre-order. Unfortunately, LEGO kindly (ahem) asked us to take them down.

These LEGO Star Wars The Last Jedi sets are now made official, and LEGO has now listed them at shop.LEGO.com. Here’s the details of each set, including their descriptions.
