LEGO Black Friday/Cyber Monday 2021 Promo Rundown

In case the excitement of the LEGO VIP weekend this past weekend made you forget: that was only the appetizer. The real highlight of November for shoppers is Black Friday/Cyber Monday. For the year 2021 that runs from November 26 to 29. LEGO’s November 20-21 VIP weekend had some special offers recurring for Black Friday. And of course, let’s not forget the LEGO Star Wars UCS AT-AT (75313) launching that day. We’ll also get new treats, some of which go active only on Cyber Monday. The Brick Fan got the scoop on a Cyber Monday VIP gift. LEGO Shop tells us the rest of it.

About that LEGO VIP item, it was spotted by The Brick Fan first on LEGO Shop Australia. They also posted the Black Friday/Cyber Monday promotions, seconded later by the rest of LEGO.com worldwide. What are we expecting this weekend? These:

Star Wars UCS AT-AT (75313) Midnight Opening Sale at Leicester LEGO Store

“We’ve sighted Imperial walkers.” So went the dreaded line in the Rebel Alliance’s Echo Base, planet Hoth, during “The Empire Strikes Back.” LEGO-wise, we’ve been sighting said four-legged AT-AT walker in (its latest) brick-built form all month. That was since November 5 when LEGO revealed their impressive Ultimate Collector’s edition of the Imperial AT-AT (75313). The set counts as one of the highlights for LEGO’s Black Friday 2021 event frenzy. It launches November 26 after all. LEGO Star Wars UCS collectors have marked this as a priority acquisition. In the UK, a LEGO branded store is already making necessary preparations.

According to Brickset, the UK flagship LEGO Store in Leicester Square, London is opening very early Friday night. How early? Try midnight on the dot of the 26th of November. Like a midnight book launch, this is to enable Londoners to get their UCS AT-AT (75313) real early. One would expect stocks of the set to run out quickly when the sun rises. As for the midnight sale, it will only run from 12AM to 2AM on Friday. One extra caveat however: would-be early buyers of the UCS AT-AT must first gain a special-access wristband from the Leicester LEGO Store the day before. And they’ll only have 200 to give.

LEGO Store Leicester Square will begin distributing the midnight UCS sale wristbands to customers at 10:30AM, November 25. These early birds will also receive a “special midnight opening gift” alongside their new LEGO UCS set (75313). Hopefully that wasn’t just a fanciful way of referring to Luke Skywalker’s Lightsaber (40483). This is already expected as a LEGO Star Wars GWP.

LEGO Lands Multiple Nominations in 2022 Toy of the Year Awards

Every year the Toy Association honors the best products in the industry through its annual Toy of the Year Awards. It doesn’t take a follower of these events to know that LEGO is a regular nominee and awardee here. Being one of the biggest toy brands in modern history is a perk in itself. Furthermore, many of the sets they release year after year deserve nominations and wins. The 2022 Toy of the Year Awards is no exception. Of the 16 possible categories, LEGO has representation in at least eight. Some of these categories even have multiple LEGO nominees.

Here are LEGO’s 2022 nominated products:

Collectible of the Year

LEGO Marvel Series Collectible Minifigures (71031)

2022 Toy of the Year

Construction Toy of the Year

LEGO Friends Heartlake City Grand Hotel (41684)

Vehicle of the Year

LEGO Icons Porsche 911 (10295)

2022 Toy of the Year

It’s amazing that one set from LEGO’s misfiring Vidiiyo theme also made it in. Then again, that would be the Toy Association’s call. Maybe the accolade (and a possible award) may reinvigorate interest in the Vidiyo line. Who can tell? Anyway, we wish LEGO’s 2022 Toy of the Year Award nominees the best of luck.

LEGO Sponsoring UEFA Women’s EURO 2022

Let’s look at the themes LEGO has been dabbling in, from last year to this one. First, they appear to be really delving into real-world football/soccer, judging from their recent Creator Expert sets. The Old Trafford (10272) in 2020 and Camp Nou (10284) this year are interesting. That’s more so with the rumors of a set for Real Madrid’s home stadium next year. Second, LEGO’s been putting their gender inclusivity initiatives to high gear. Remember the “Get the World Ready for Girls” sub-slogan for “Rebuild the World”? Anyway, it looks like LEGO’s latest move combines these two themes at once.

According to The Brick Fan, LEGO just announced itself as an official sponsor for the UEFA Women’s EURO Championship. Originally slated for this year, COVID pandemic troubles pushed this women’s football tournament for 2022. England from July 6 to 31 will play host to 16 European women’s teams duking it out. And LEGO is acting as national sponsor, in line with their “Ready for Girls” campaign under “Rebuild the World.” We can thus expect some initiatives to be launched by LEGO in line with this major sporting event. However, they won’t tell us more about it until sometime next year.

We don’t know yet exactly what LEGO has in mind to celebrate sponsoring the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022. At least LEGO is giving us this neat promotional vid, released ahead of the Final tournament draw this Thursday. Putting together LEGO building, football, and girls? It’s an interesting combination at least.

LEGO November 2021 Store Calendar Released

With barely a week’s worth of days left in this month, you know what that means LEGO-wise. The next Store Calendar’s going to drop. Here’s a big shout-out to The Brick Fan, for noting the November 2021 LEGO Store Calendar on LEGO’s servers. Several days back, we were expecting some GWPs that “disappeared” from the October calendar to reappear here. They don’t need to anymore, but as a result the November activities/specials appear minimal. Black Friday deals should be marked down, but we’ve been informed LEGO’s saving them for November 15. Anyway, have a look at the calendar down below.

LEGO Announces VIP Weekend Ahead of Black Friday

For LEGO VIP members, the most recent event for them – a week of double-points – came and went last weekend. Promo periods like these prove time and time again that joining LEGO’s VIP program is a great idea. Points for additional purchases, early access to hot new products and exclusives never run out when you’re a VIP. Already, LEGO is charting out a new special period next month for VIP members to take advantage of. Black Friday falls on November, remember? Expect those VIP events to come one after the other.

As The Brick Fan tells us, LEGO Shop@Home replaced the already-concluded Double-VIP Points event for a VIP Weekend announcement. The event runs one weekend from November 20 to 21. LEGO made no announcements on what to expect in those two days, leaving that reveal for November 15. Of course, we can probably count on a renewed 2x VIP Points period at minimum. Furthermore, considering LEGO’s Black Friday event scheduled November 26-29, VIP weekend could also surprise with an early set reveal. LEGO loves to spring Black Friday exclusive sets on VIP members. The November 15 reveal date might also confirm/debunk the long-rumored LEGO Star Wars Hoth AT-AT (75313). Many possibilities await LEGO collectors next month, doubly so if they’re VIPs.

The LEGO Group to Join San Diego Comic-Con@Home 2021

July has been traditionally Comic-Con month, and with the onset of the global health crisis brought about by this pandemic, the traditional in-person San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) is postponed until 2022. Similar to what it did last year, SDCC is still going online and with the LEGO Group being confirmed as one of this year’s Comic-Con@Home online exhibitors.

Though this second Comic-Con@Home edition has not yet released its list of virtual panel schedules, some news outlets have been publishing the event’s online shows and programming.  Needless to say, more news will probably come out in the next couple of weeks considering that the virtual fan convention is scheduled to happen between July 23-25, 2021.

Traditionally, LEGO has always been an exhibitor in this world-renowned fan convention, with plenty of new product reveals carefully timed during these events. And now that LEGO is back as an online exhibitor, it’s interesting to see how the LEGO Group will go about with its presentation. With the successful launch of its very first, and very own online LEGO fan convention in the form of LEGO CON 2021, we can most likely expect additional product reveals at Comic-Con@Home. Details are sketchy as of this time on the most likely candidates for any of these set reveals, but I’m crossing my fingers that it might be related to the next LEGO Star Wars UCS set presumably the Republic Gunship. The iconic transport from the Star Wars prequels was voted as the fan-favorite during last year’s LEGO Ideas voting campaign. It’s just speculation at this time, but since LEGO skipped on having LEGO CON as an opportunity to reveal this year’s LEGO Star Wars UCS set, I guess Comic-Con@Home 2021 will be the next best choice.

SDCC’s virtual event is just around the corner so we can expect more news to come in during the next several days. Stay tuned.

The LEGO Ambassador Network Releases the AFOL Passion Survey

The LEGO Ambassador Network or commonly known as LAN within the LEGO fan community has just released the AFOL Passion Survey. The purpose of the survey is to let the LEGO Group know what most likely fuels our interests, passions, and hobbies to better align their 18+ offerings to what really matters among adult fans of LEGO.

Since last year, The LEGO Group had made decisive changes to its product line-up to specifically cater to the adult LEGO fan community. The LEGO 18+ subtheme has grown exponentially since then, with LEGO recognizing the fact that the iconic brick is no longer just a children’s toy. From LEGO Art, Ideas, Creator, Disney, Nintendo, and more, almost every non-licensed and licensed theme as of today have an 18+ set to boast.   It’s great to know that LEGO has acknowledged this fact, and looks forward to offering more sets with the older LEGO fan in mind. Hopefully, through this survey, we can somewhat get our message and passions across in a more meaningful way.

The survey is relatively short and will take 15 minutes of your time to complete. Read the complete announcement below in case you’re interested, and click on the link below to access the survey form.

As an AFOL, we know you are passionate about building – but what else are you passionate about? Do current sets support your interest? How do you connect with the community? How engaged are you with the LEGO Group?

Our department is conducting a new survey on AFOL Passion. We want to answer these questions so we can better understand our AFOL audience and what they love the most. We have done similar surveys in the past but it’s time to update our information to stay up-to-date

The survey is anonymous and open to everyone, everywhere. We estimate it’ll take about 15 minutes to answer, and the feedback you give us will help us better understand how to engage with the AFOL community.

Please take the share and share it here. Right now we have no end date and will close the survey when our response rate reaches a set threshold.

LEGO Technic Ferrari 488 GTE “AF Corse #51” (42125) Speed Its Way on a Real Race Track

LEGO goes to great lengths to set another milestone with its line of LEGO Technic sets. From creating a life-sized, brick-built Lamborghini Sián, to a driveable LEGO Technic Bugatti Chiron, LEGO is pushing another first with a never-before-tried stunt with its LEGO Technic Ferrari 488 GTE “AF Corse #51” (42125).

Released earlier this year, the LEGO Technic Ferrari 488 GTE now had the honor and opportunity of speeding through the famous Modena circuit in Italy. Now just to be clear, the set did not actually race on the track autonomously but was mounted in front of a real Ferrari 488 GTE race car, driven by Ferrari Competizioni GT Official Driver Giancarlo Fisichella.

Launching at full speed, it was impressive to see that the Ferrari 488 GTE’s brick counterpart didn’t buckle at the sheer force of the speed that it is traveling at 208 kph. To give LEGO fans a unique perspective of this accomplishment, this attempt was documented using 8 cameras and 2 drones giving us a unique racing perspective coming from different angles. LEGO promises to share this video soon, so I’m quite excited to see how it turned out.

2021 Bricklink Designer Program Kicks Off Its First Round

The Bricklink Designer Program is back this year, with its first round of crowdfunding slated to kick off this July. Formerly known as the AFOL Designer Program when it was introduced in 2018, the Bricklink Designer Program brings together some of the best original brick-built creations from the LEGO fan community and seeks to gather the needed crowdfunding support to be mass-produced and duly recognized.

This year, due to the limitations brought about by the pandemic, three crowdfunding rounds have been introduced with the 2nd and 3rd rounds to happen in September and November respectively. And for this first round, there will be 7 projects to support and choose from starting July 1 until August 10.  You may head over to Bricklink’s pre-order page to have a better look at these 7 projects, or you may check out the following images below to have an initial look. In case you want to vote or support a particular project that you see, just click on their respective links below. My personal favorite is JK Brickwork’s Pursuit of Flight, which also managed to receive 10,000 fan votes qualifying it for the Second 2019 LEGO Ideas Review Stage.
