Additional Info on Rumored LEGO Marvel Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home

The year 2019 will see the end, in a way, of an era in the now decade-old Marvel Cinematic Universe as the remaining superheroes of that live-action franchise gather to take down Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, the last installment of MCU Phase 3 and the overarching narrative begun in 2008. Here too will start the post-MCU narrative in Spider-Man: Far from Home, the movie which spoils the undoing of the title character’s cessation of existence as seen in Avengers: Infinity War earlier this year. Speaking of spoilers, there were plenty to be had when the names of the two films’ LEGO tie-in sets were revealed: particularly from the expected LEGO Marvel Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home tie-in sets.

Names for the upcoming LEGO Marvel Super Heroes MCU tie-in were shared by a set retailer from Romania, and they make for some interesting reading. Before you proceed, be assured that there are no major spoilers here, in fact, I wouldn’t go as far to label these as spoilers, with the exception perhaps of those under the Spider-Man: Far From Home subtheme. So I guess there’s no serious harm done if you ever get to read these unconfirmed LEGO Marvel set names. With that out of the way, do read on to your heart’s content.

LEGO Marvel Avengers: Endgame

  1. Captain America: Attack of the Outrider (76123) – 167 pieces, $20
  2. War Machine Crusher (76124) – 362 pieces, $35
  3. Iron Man Armor Room (76125) – 524 pieces, $60
  4. Avengers Super Quinjet (76126) – 832 pieces, $80
  5. Battle of the Assembled Avengers (76131) – 699 pieces, $100

Spoiler details to consider above include stuff like a possible new War Machine armor, and a new Quinjet transport for the Avengers (in the comics, the earliest Quinjets were space-capable already)

LEGO Marvel Spider-Man: Far from Home

  1. Molten Man’s Battle (76128)
  2. Hydro Man’s Attack (76129)
  3. Stark’s Plane and Drone Attack (76130)

Movie spoilers here are more blatant, with the identities of the possible super-villain antagonists spelled out and confirmation that Tony Stark not only makes it through Endgame, but remains Peter Parker’s mentor figure.

UPDATE: Avengers: Endgame premieres April 2019. Spider-Man: Far from Home takes its turn later in July. As for the tie-in sets mentioned above, already know that they are happening thanks to the 2019 LEGO Catalog, for the details about these sets, we need only wait for LEGO’s confirmation.

LEGO Seasonal Penguin Girl Winter Hut (5005251) Minifigure Images Uploaded Via LEGO’s Servers

We’ve come to expect at certain seasons and occasions of the year that LEGO will release a new, costumed minifigure contained in a house-shaped box package. This usual setup has the dual purpose of having the box serve as a cheap background for play with the costumed minifigure. And if you recall from July of last year, we first spotted this on the wild. Since then, LEGO was pretty silent regarding this promotional’s availability. On Christmas Eve, it was noticed by eagle-eyed LEGO fans that the servers for LEGO’s websites now held the first official images for the latest LEGO seasonal costumed LEGO minifigure, now since spread throughout the rest of the internet. This is the LEGO Seasonal Penguin Girl Winter Hut (5005251), one last themed LEGO product for the soon-concluding holidays.

For a change, the product specifically calls the minifigure character to be a girl, though it would be relatively hard to tell minifig gender when they’re wearing a full-body costume. Anyway, the LEGO Seasonal Penguin Girl Winter Hut (5005251) comes with a pair of skis for equipment, with its box packaging depicting a cozy, Winter Hut facade. Here’s a look at its content courtesy of an eBay user.

It’s estimated that LEGO will start the promo for the Penguin Girl Winter Hut (5005251) sometime before the year actually ends. Most likely it’ll be available with a minimum purchase, the precise details to be shared to LEGO fans who have signed up for email alerts from their website.

Some Formerly-Exclusive LEGO Polybags Now Seen Conventionally Available on Retailers

With the Holiday season rolling into what could be termed its final phases, LEGO is pulling out all the stops in order to get their products out to consumers, from the big box sets to the little plastic polybags with their simple builds. And some of these used to be difficult to find in stores.

To elaborate, some of the LEGO polybags that are now finding on retail shelves used to be exclusive items at either Shop@Home or other sources. For example, the LEGO City Arctic Ice Saw (30360) was initially only ever packaged with an issue of Nat Geo Kids Magazine over in the UK, but has now been spotted for sale at Wal-Mart.

Next we have the LEGO Friends Friendship Flower (30404) polybag. Original part of a “gift with minimum-purchase” offer at Shop@Home this February, it apparently became available on Toys R Us before its mid-year shutdown. Target stores now have it available.

legofriends30404

Last but not least, there is the LEGO Creator Pelican (30571), a polybag featuring 62 pieces that can be assembled into three possible configurations, all of animals. Like the Friends Friendship Flower (30404) above, one might be able to find this on Target.

The LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigure Series (71023) Revealed!

This news has been floating around the internet for a couple of days already, but I feel like it has not caught up wind with the majority of the LEGO fan community. We’re literally counting the days before the year ends, and this means that several LEGO store outlets have already received their share of LEGO catalogs for the first half of 2019. Thankfully, we have one LEGO fan that managed to take hold of a copy of the 2019 LEGO catalog in Polish, and has taken time to upload a video of its contents. And to our delight, other than the January 2019 LEGO sets that we can expect to be available this December and January 1st, we now get to see as well the much-anticipated LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigure Series (71023). Check out the following video, particularly at the 19:10 mark.

Based on a rough Google translation, the LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigure Series (71023) is expected to arrive in LEGO Stores in May, 2019. This CMF series also comes with its series of costumed minifigs which will be a sure hit to LEGO fans: Giraffe Guy, Watermelon Guy, and Crayon Girl. It also prominently features the classic characters from the WIzard of Oz such as Dorothy Gale, Cowardly Lion, Scarecrow, and the Tin Man. We don’t have an official list of character names for this new CMF series, but Minifigure Price Guide came up with a tentative list of names that we can use for reference. I modified some of them to better fit their description.

The LEGO Movie 2 International Trailer Shows Us Emmet’s ‘Piece’ Offering

In this day and age, it seems like the release of new trailers for upcoming films are awaited with the same intensity as for the movies themselves. Viewers of these trailers, who are anticipating the films, tend to want to see more details of the plot and events, sometimes without regard for potential spoiler alerts. Now, Warner Animation Group’s The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part has already gotten a few trailers out. We have a general gist of the plot (Bricksburg turning to a wasteland after the attack of the Duplons, Emmet chasing a Systar General who have kidnapped his friends), and this time the LEGO Movie 2 international trailer seems to “fill in the blanks”, as it were.

New scenes featured in the LEGO Movie 2 international trailer flashes back to the end of the first movie, where Emmet and the gang first encountered the innocent-looking Duplons. Emmet tries to make a peaceful first contact (creating the ‘Piece Offering’ we see in the same-named Emmet’s ‘Piece’ Offering polybag). Obviously, it fails and we get to see its result later on.

emmet piece offering

Other scenes that elaborate on the storyline include fight sequences during the Duplon invasion of Bricksburg, plus Emmet asking Rex Dangervest to “teach him how to be tough”. Good luck, Emmet.

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part stars Chris Pratt (Emmet and Rex), Elizabeth Banks (Wyldstyle), Will Arnett (LEGO Batman), Stephanie Beatriz (Sweet Mayhem) and Tiffany Haddish (Queen Watevra Wa-Nabi). It premieres February 8, 2019.

This Fan-Made LEGO Fallout Video Teaser Trailer Is Eerie Cool

LEGO fans have longed for the day when their favorite video game titles may be rendered as actual LEGO sets. We already saw this feat achieved with the ground-breaking LEGO Overwatch theme. Many saw this as a positive sign of great things to come, with many fans being hopeful of more LEGO-video games collaboration in the future. While there are still a lot of seemingly impossible licensing obstacles that LEGO needs to hurdle before much of these become a reality, one LEGO fan, in particular, took upon himself to recreate another classic PC role-playing game, giving it a LEGO twist. We featured a pretty accurate MOC based on the game’s recent iteration, and this time around we now have this video trailer with a certain LEGO Worlds vibe, highlighting a custom-made, LEGO Fallout video teaser. See the video for your self.

YouTube video creator Bearly Regal made the video to conceptualize how a LEGO Fallout video game by, say, longtime LEGO game developers WB Interactive and Traveller’s Tales might look. He expressed this in the video’s accompanying caption paraphrasing the Fallout series slogan: “LEGO, LEGO never changes.”

Rendering of the Fallout environment for the video was done through the WBI-TT sandbox game LEGO Worlds, available across current video game platforms. The game recently got a “Wild-West” themed DLC.

It seems that the trend of rendering popular film and video game trailers into LEGO bricks is here to stay. We’ve seen some recent sweet productions on this side of YouTube land such as next year’s Avengers: Endgame, Pacific Rim Uprising, and even Bohemian Rhapsody. All these teaser trailers were animated using actual stop-motion techniques using LEGO pieces, and for a video game such as Fallout, it is quite ingenious to see how Bearly Legal managed to use LEGO Worlds as its platform and go full 3D to make some fun vignettes to upload online.

So what to do you think of this fan-made LEGO Fallout video teaser trailer? Sound-off your thoughts in the comments section below.

LEGO Life App Sees Additional 23K New Users Signed Up in Hong Kong

What happens when you mix a social media mobile app with the customization potential one might find in a LEGO video game? You get LEGO Life, a social media platform geared towards the younger LEGO and internet fan. Launched in 2017, it has become one of the most-favored kids’ social networks, with LEGO fans the world over waiting for when the app’s coverage eventually reaches their respective territories.

That much could be said for Hong Kong. LEGO Life launched its platform there (plus Macau and Taiwan) several months ago, and current user statistics show that there are plenty of LEGO fans in those regions.

You pretty much can’t argue with a recorded regular user base of around 23,000. Even better, a solid 90% of those users are all children between the ages of 5 and 10, which is the target range of LEGO Life as laid down by The LEGO Group itself. The 23,000 LEGO Life users from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan join the rest of the 5.8 million global users as recorded from 2017.

As LEGO Digital Marketing & e-Commerce Manager for Hong Kong and Taiwan, Candice Wong says, “We believe the unique proposition of the app which ties to local consumer insights is the key. Parents in Hong Kong are very conscious of kids’ digital consumption and are concerned about their children’s online privacy and safety. LEGO Life, adhering to the highest standard of child safety online, eases parents’ concern over privacy or safety issues.”

The LEGO Life social network helps enforce anonymity between users by having all user avatars based on minifigures with online aliases. This is welcome for parents whose children engage actively on the app. Furthermore, social community building is LEGO Life’s primary direction, not selling more LEGO products (beyond the “Product Registration” feature that creates virtual versions of real sets owned by LEGO Life users).

“We aim at making LEGO Life an extension of their play experience,” notes Wong, “rather than replacing physical play which we know is so important to children’s development and well-being.”

Minifigures Galore in Shop@Home’s LEGO Star Wars Box (5005704) Promo

The promos just won’t stop coming at LEGO Shop@Home with more and more giveaways being presented that could be had with just the right amount of minimum purchase. If the nearly illusive LEGO Jurassic World Bricktober 2018 minifigure set (5005255) doesn’t catch your fancy, then how about LEGO Star Wars?

Shop@Home has introduced a nice little LEGO Star Wars Box (5005704) that’s filled with a selection of minifigures that have come out for the line and made available in past promos throughout 2018. Every box has five of these minifigures, and will be added free to any minimum LEGO Star Wars product purchase of $75.

But that’s not all. Everyone who makes the necessary LEGO Star Wars purchases on Shop@Home to get the LEGO Star Wars Box (5005704) will earn them a chance to win even more Star Wars goodies, such as jewelry in the form of R2-D2 (in platinum or sterling silver variants) and a Signed & Graded TC-14. Do note that this portion of the promo on Shop@Home is valid only within the US and Washington DC, plus in Canada (but not Quebec).

Considering the minifigures that go into the LEGO Star Wars Box (5005704) are all leftovers from previous Shop@Home promos, it goes without saying that supplies will be limited. So there’s nothing left to say here but to go and get it now. You only have until this Wednesday, December 19 at midnight (Eastern Standard Time).

Playable LEGO Piano Qualifies for LEGO Ideas Third 2018 Review Stage

If you recall last October, we featured a LEGO product idea that will probably impress even Mozart if he is alive today. The LEGO Ideas project, Playable LEGO Piano, by builder SleepyCow has gained a lot of support since then and now ranks among the LEGO hopefuls to become the next official LEGO Ideas set alongside four qualifiers. For its Third 2018 Review Stage, the product ideas that have gotten 10,000 supporters during this period are a varied mix of themes – from dinosaur skeletons to a chemical plant, a set of fast-food stalls and a cruise ship. And now the latest addition to these LEGO product ideas now appeals to the musician and builder at heart.

It’s always amazing whenever a LEGO builder does a MOC that includes some mechanical function and non-traditional materials. Ideas member SleepyCow has done just that with a small-scale playable LEGO piano that actually plays thanks to actual strings attached to the keys, and pedal dampers.

lego piano

The sheer amount of detail SleepyCow put on this playable LEGO piano product idea is mind-blowing. Aside from the aforementioned working 25 piano keys (with hammers hitting correctly-tuned strings) and pedals, the whole setup has legs ending on scaled piano wheels, the player’s bench is adjustable, and it can be converted into a player piano via Power Functions.

Such advanced LEGO mechanics (that don’t require Power) are not so common in mainstream LEGO sets, so it’s only fitting that it’ll come out via the more imaginatively conceptualized LEGO Ideas line. First, we’ll need SleepyCow’s playable LEGO piano to beat its fellow Third 2018 Review Stage submissions, and who knows what other sets make in. Check out his demo video below.
