First Look at the LEGO Ideas Pop-Up Book (21315) and Its Gorgeous

After the teaser given by the LEGO Store in China last week, LEGO has finally given us our very first look at the upcoming LEGO Ideas Pop-Up Book (21315). LEGO made the reveal via LEGO Ideas’ official social media pages as you can see below.

To be frank, the Pop-Up book’s corresponding box art and minifigures have been already leaked on the Internet so we already have an idea of how it might look like. However, seeing the actual set as it is, gave me a better appreciation of this newest LEGO Ideas set. The LEGO Ideas design team really did a good job in improving the original product idea of fan designer Jason Allemann, who also happens to be the fan designer behind 2016’s LEGO Ideas Maze (21305).

LEGO Ideas Pop-Up Book (21315)

I absolutely love how the dark red and green and colors were used in the LEGO Ideas Pop-Up Book (21315), and the nice touch on the “Once Upon a Brick” title. I’m not quite sure if the title is made out of a sticker, or if it’s printed on a huge tile. However, my bet is that it’s probably a sticker. Though I haven’t seen the images of the actual set, the box art of the Pop-Up Book suggests that it has two stories to tell. The 10-second teaser trailer already hinted on the classic story of Red Riding Hood considering the inclusion of the wolf minifigure disguised as Red’s grandma.

LEGO Ideas Pop-Up Book (21315)

The second alternate build of the set highlights another classic fairy tale which is the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. It looks like it will be using a nanofigure for Jack to make it somehow proportionally scaled to the buildable beanstalk that stretches from the ground up to the clouds.  The LEGO Ideas Pop-Up Book (21315) will also include four minifigures: Red Riding Hood, Grandma, Wolf in disguise, the Giant, and a Jack nanofigure. The full reveal of this set is slated on October 26 so we can expect more teasers and additional info to come out anytime soon.

Dubai Breaks Guinness Record for Biggest Awareness Message Built in LEGO

Look into any fairly recent edition of the Guinness Book of World Records (and some of its specific-topic spinoffs) and you’ll find a lot of records that has LEGO, or its products, involved. Many of these listings would be of “largest builds”, whether they’re official sets or some notable MOCs. One LEGO-related record was recently broken on Guinness in the Middle East. While it’s not just another brick-built structure, vehicle or any fantastical creature it’s instead the biggest awareness message built in LEGO. Conceptualized by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai, UAE, the message touches on the potential dangers of talking on the phone while driving.

Participants of this LEGO building project and the Guinness World Record  attempt, include RTA staff and local students. Using an approximate total of 140,000 red and blue 1×1 LEGO brick on a wall lined with white baseplates, the builders formed the RTA logo and an awareness message written in Arabic and English: “Your life is worth more than a phone call”.

RTA head Maitha bin Adai said in an address during the building event that their achievement means to send “a loud and clear awareness message” to Dubai motorists, cautioning them against the risks of using of using phones while driving.

Guinness adjudicators were on hand to measure the statistics following the attempt, and confirmed that the brick-build RTA awareness message at the Dubai Festival City complex is now in fact, the biggest awareness message built in LEGO.

LEGO Bricktober Harry Potter Minifigures (5005254) Already Available in Some Barnes & Noble Stores

It’s been almost two months now since LEGO made its pronouncement on what will be of their limited-edition Bricktober minifigure sets in the US, since they’re only for Toys R Us stores which have since been closed. At least one set, particularly the  LEGO Bricktober Harry Potter Minifigures (5005254), has been promised to be available in Barnes & Noble Stores, but since then no word’s come out on when.

Well, although LEGO hasn’t clarified the release date for the LEGO Bricktober Harry Potter minifig set, it doesn’t mean it’s no longer coming out. In fact, several B&N stores have finally been found with the set on shelves, just sitting there with no fanfare.

It was first thought that this Bricktober set is going to be available via a Barnes & Noble promotion. However, it looks like these highly sought after collectible is now found on B&N’s store shelves for sale. Buyers have noted that the Bricktober Harry Potter set came with a retail price of $7.99.

The LEGO Bricktober Harry Potter minifigures (5005254) include Madame Hooch, Professor Horace Slughorn, Dolores Umbridge and the Boggart in the form of Professor Severus Snape (in Longbottom’s granny’s clothes). In the US it’s a B&N exclusive, while other Bricktober sets such as Jurassic World, Marvel and Ninjago) are said to be released in LEGO Stores.

Elsewhere (aka where Toys R Us are still open), the sets are available as per Bricktober mechanics, added free with a minimum purchase (or bought separately). If you’re looking for more Barnes & Noble LEGO stuff, there’s also the Star Wars Kessel Mine Worker (40299).

LEGO Creator Tower Bridge (10214) Now On Sale at Walmart

The LEGO sales at Walmart are starting to come out of the woodwork again, after some action in earlier parts of the year with the retail giant’s participation in LEGO’s 60th anniversary promotional events. While the last two we touched upon here were of the Star Wars line, this new one’s for a LEGO-original theme.

And if you think the previous Walmart sale of the LEGO Star Wars UCS Snowspeeder (75144) was “old” enough and somehow poised to be retired, then you might be surprise to know that the LEGO Creator Tower Bridge (10214) is still available. First released in 2010, this set’s about eight years old now, and can still be purchased at LEGO Stores both online and in-store.

But if you’re a LEGO fan with an architectural bent who would still hesitate at the Tower Bridge (10214) regular price of $239.99, then you might want to consider Walmart’s offer for the set, listed at $194.99, an 18% discount as of this posting.

LEGO Creator Tower Bridge (10214)

Once again, Walmart has made a great price cut for another LEGO set, this one in particular being one of the oldest still available on retail that has yet to be retired. The new price for the LEGO Creator Tower Bridge (10214) is a better value for a 4,287-piece structural construct with extra micro-build vehicles. However, if you’re planning to buy this set while minding your LEGO VIP points, then you just have to check LEGO Shop@Home and add this 4,00o-piece set to your shopping cart.

LEGO DC Super-Villains Launch Trailer Released Ahead of the Game’s Debut

Only one week to go before the latest LEGO video game adventure from WB Interactive and Traveller’s Tales, will become available to all LEGO and DC fans out there. That’s probably why the creators have decided to have one last hurrah of promotions done, particularly with the release of the LEGO DC Super-Villains launch trailer.

Just this Thursday, October 11, the developers premiered what’s probably their final trailer for LDCSV, specifically labeled to promote the upcoming launch of the game a few days from now. It recaps all play elements that the previous trailers touched upon several weeks past, condensed into one complete package of advertising.

In this LEGO DC Super-Villains launch trailer, we once again see the backstory (Justice League disappears, replaced by the Justice Syndicate; bad guys band together against the Syndicate; criminal hilarity ensues). We get to check out the character customization for the player-villain. And I almost forgot; this time it’s the Joker (Mark Hamill!) talking us through it.

LEGO DC Super-Villains arrives on October 19. Like its predecessors, pre-ordering the Deluxe Edition will come with early access to the DC Super-Villains TV Series pack and a season pass. The game is available on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Switch. Like Joker claims, there’s more than one way to save rule the world.

LEGO Movie 2 Keeping It Awesomer With Emmet Book Reveals Exclusive Emmet Minifigure

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part is still a few months away from cinemas, but being a film based on an epic toy brand, and a much awaited sequel, means that it’s got a load of related merchandise coming in line with the premiere. Beyond the usual tie-in sets and collectible minifigures that we can expect from LEGO, Amazon has revealed our first LEGO Movie 2 inspired book that even comes with a free Emmet minifigure: The LEGO Movie 2 Keeping It Awesomer With Emmet.

Obviously, the book’s selling point will be the new minifigure iteration of Emmet as we see him again in the LEGO Movie 2 trailer. Based on this Amazon listing, Emmet seems to come with a pretty beat up garb (or it could be the clam shell cover, I’m not really sure), which is understandable considering after going through the apocalyptic events of Taco Tuesday.

A closer look at this new Emmet minifigure shows that he will also include a pair of goggles, and what looks like to be a plant piece from well, Planty.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Sets Rumored to Arrive this December

Sony’s out to prove that even when sharing film rights to Spider-Man with Marvel Studios, they can still come up with a franchise featuring the massive supporting cast of the friendly neighborhood wall-crawler. Their first post-MCU-Spider cinematic outing was Venom starring Tom Hardy, and on December there’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. On the LEGO front, about the most prominent Spider-Man set to be revealed is the yet-to-be released LEGO Marvel Super Heroes: Spider-Man Mech vs. Venom Mech (76115). There’s also going to be a 3D-animated special entitled Spider-Man: Vexed by Venom, coming in 2019 and seemingly working on synergy with Sony’s movies. And this time, it looks like LEGO is giving its share to the Spider-Verse with the rumored arrival of LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Sets

Particularly this rumor has it that LEGO will spring some surprise tie-in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sets at year’s end. According to sources tapped by fellow LEGO news site Brick Fanatics, these LEGO sets will arrive December 1, ahead of the animated movie’s premiere.

spidermanspiderverseposter

Into the Spider-Verse is produced by The LEGO Movie’s directorial tandem of Phil Lord and Chris Miller, based on a Marvel Comics storyline that sees various incarnations of Spider-Man from different parallel dimensions brought together to face a powerful foe. The focus of this film is on young alternate Spider-Man, Miles Morales (Shameik Moore).

As always, this piece of news, like any rumors, should be taken with a pinch of salt. Ultimately it’ll be LEGO or their license partners (Marvel and Sony in this case) that’ll confirm or debunk what we have reported. We just hope that it’ll be soon enough.

Exclusive LEGO Overwatch Omnic Bastion (75987) Revealed

Blizzard Entertainment has just officially revealed our very first LEGO Overwatch set. After several hints across social media and even at LEGO’s minisite, we now have our first look at the LEGO Overwatch Omnic Bastion (75987) set. It is now available for online purchase exclusively at the Blizzard Gear Store retailing for $25.

Since Bastion basically has three modes as seen in the video game – Sentry, Recon and Tank Mode – it will be nice if this set can be a sort of a 3-in-1 mutibuild as well. I’m not sure if this is the case for this LEGO version, but we’ll know as soon as we get our hands on it.

Aside from the Blizzard Gear Store, the LEGO Overwatch Omnic Bastion (75987) will also be available at BlizzCon 2018 which will happen from November 2 and 3, 2018 to be held at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.

LEGOLAND Dubai Brick or Treat Offers Exclusive LEGO Brick Souvenir

It’s October and the various LEGOLAND Resort theme parks and Discovery Centers around the world are now kicking off their various Halloween-themed celebrations as the month rolls by towards the day itself. Most of these party periods go by Brick or Treat, but even when the name isn’t used, there are plenty of spooky attractions to be had in LEGOLAND.

For instance, LEGOLAND Dubai Resort in the UAE doesn’t have a Brick or Treat label for its Halloween seasonal attractions, but nobody should care once the park is properly dressed up for trick or treating and more starting next week.

The centerpiece of LEGOLAND Dubai’s Halloween “spooktacular” fun  attractions is the Cobweb Castle, where the park’s child guests can dress up as skeletons or witches and whatnot (in LEGO style too) and explore the indoor haunted castle with a giant LEGO Frankenstein at the head of a host of other scary monsters.

Other attractions include a LEGO pumpkin patch filled with brick-built Jack-o-Lanterns watched over by Ernie the Scarecrow. Cobweb Castle also has a stage where Halloween costume contests and dance-offs are held. Finally, actual trick-or-treating activities in LEGOLAND Dubai are made all the sweeter by the free Goldbear candies courtesy of LEGO’s Halloween confectionery partner Haribo.

Finally, LEGOLAND Dubai is offering a special LEGO brick during their Halloween events, a commemorative piece illustrated with the occasion on its side. Most LEGOLAND parks in the US and Europe no longer give commemorative bricks, but here’s one to be found in Dubai for the duration of Halloween festivities

LEGOLAND Dubai’s Halloween attractions are on from October 16 to the 31st, All Hallows’ Eve itself. Tourists who might be headed to the UAE at the time with children in tow can try booking ahead for a fun time in LEGOLAND Dubai on their website.

LEGO Friends 2018 Advent Calendar (41353) Now On Sale At Amazon

It’s been quite a while since the release of this year’s series of LEGO Advent Calendars, and in fact, retailers are now starting to mark them down on their online shopping platforms. Already the LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar (75213) got its discount at Walmart; and this time around the LEGO Friends 2018 Advent Calendar (41353) goes on sale at Amazon.

A quick roam of price listings at Amazon has fished this little gem. The LEGO Friends 2018 Advent Calendar (41353) is normally priced at $29.99, and it now has a sale listing of $22.99 – a nice, 25% off from its original price. That’s seven dollars off the regular, an even greater incentive to get it.

One possible reason why the 2018 LEGO Friends Advent Calendar is at such a low price would be because all its 24 offerings are little brick builds, with no minifigures of the Heartlake City girls or even minidolls included. Amazon knocking the price down further is just icing on an affordable cake.

41353_alt3

While the LEGO Friends Advent Calendar (41353) set is on sale at Amazon, the online marketplace giant has no same deal for the other 2018 LEGO holiday sets. Walmart retains its price drop on LEGO Star Wars (75213) until now, while the LEGO City Advent Calendar (60201) hasn’t gotten any price adjustment yet.
