Traditionally, this is the time of the year when we feature one or two custom builds that epitomize the creatively dark and spooky side of LEGO building. Whether it’s a cringe-worthy custom LEGO Facehugger or a full-grown LEGO Xenomorph MOC from the Alien franchise, we surely want to give these nightmarish creations the attention they deserve. But then again, who says LEGO Halloween MOCs should always be that scary? Why not make it playful and cuddly as well?
That is exactly what Koen Zwanenburg has in mind when he created his LEGO Halloween Cuddy Toys: Halloween Collection. If you recall, we first featured Koen and his lovely collection of Fabergé-inspired custom LEGO Easter Eggs several years ago. And true to form, he never fails to delightfully surprise.
More like mini-builds, it’s very impressive how Koen manages to capture the distinct characteristics of our Halloween mainstays with such few LEGO pieces. For example, the brilliant use of the 2×2 round plates with rounded bottoms for the feet of some of the plushies is just adorable. Even Pennywise will blush to see his cute counterpart.
One might say that Koen has already perfected the subtle art of custom LEGO mini-builds. He managed to capture all these details and more in just a limited number of pieces. Good ‘ol Frankie definitely approves this brick-built version of him. Be sure to check out the rest of Koen’s creations on his Flickr page. And while you’re at it, you may want to check out our list of must-have LEGO Halloween sets to add more brick-building fun to your collection.
It’s nice that LEGO seasonal sets have always been around to jumpstart the season and get into that brick-building vibe. And with the release of the LEGO Halloween Cat and Mouse (40570) set a couple of months ago, it’s time to look back at some of the spooky-fun LEGO sets that we had over the years. From classic favorites, vignette-inspired builds, and large collectible themes and sets, these must-have LEGO sets are all head-turners in themselves.
In case you missed them, I’ve included Amazon affiliate links for these sets if you wish to add them to your collection. Any purchases made via these links will surely help to keep our site up and running.
With that out of the way, let’s jump right in and take a look.
Halloween is just around the corner! And if you’re still figuring out how to come up with those LEGO-themed spooky decors, then why not come up with the best Halloween-themed LEGO minifigure costume party instead?
Over the years, we’ve seen some of the craziest and most endearing LEGO minifigures around. From Disney characters to Harry Potter mainstays, LEGO simply doesn’t run out of ideas. But I have to say that for the best part of their minifigs, the costumed LEGO Collectible Minifigures are still the loveliest of the bunch in my opinion.
In the spirit of this wickedly fun season, let’s take a look at some of the best Halloween-themed LEGO Collectible Minifigures around. Arguably, there are plenty of CMF characters that LEGO came out with that added some spooky fun during this time of the year – just consider the LEGO CMF Series 14 Monsters (71010) for example. But still, there are those that stand out and are indeed worth mentioning.
Here’s a rundown of my personal favorites in no particular order. And in case you’re interested, you may find these minifigs for sale over at our official storefront – The Brick Show Shop. We’re currently running a Buy One Get One (BOGO) promo where you can get your second minifigure at 50% off. It’s certainly a great way to gather those collectible minifigures that you are raring to have. Just click on these links and see more details about these LEGO collectibles.

With COVID and its successor strains no longer the world-stopping menace of recent yesteryears, tourism-entertainment destinations are long thriving again. The same goes for LEGOLAND theme parks around the globe. Guests are back, additional park sites are being constructed and new attractions are opening in current LEGOLANDs. Still, nothing can quite match, perhaps, what Germany’s LEGOLAND in Gunzburg, Bavaria has got planned. This was announced by their official website, as told by German LEGO news source Stone Wars. Said attraction looks to be planned as the new centerpiece of LEGOLAND Deutschland’s Mythica themed area. They’ll be getting a roller coaster.
And it’s not just any roller coaster either. The LEGOLAND Germany press release specifies it as a wing roller coaster. This design has the main coaster body support two wings of passenger seats, left and right of the tracks. The seats will also be suspended, leaving nothing under the passengers’ feet for even scarier thrills. LEGOLAND Deutschland is confident in their new addition because a wing coaster already operates at Italy’s Gardaland. It and the LEGOLAND parks are all under the overall umbrella of Merlin Entertainments Group. The unorthodox seating could also influence the coaster’s aesthetics, to fit with the fantasy elements of area Mythica.
At present, construction has only barely begun in Gunzburg, with just the boarding area and the first hill constructed. But when finished the ride will take guests as high as 17 meters and as fast as 15 meters-per-second. LEGOLAND Germany expects their Mythica wing coaster to open sometime in 2023.
