150th BrickHeadz Ahsoka Tano (40539) Confirmed Coming January with Three Other Sets

We knew it. We told you so and it happened just like we learned it. Yesterday we talked about the LEGO teaser for what/who the 150th BrickHeadz set would be. The theme/franchise was voted on last year: “Star Wars.” The remaining question was who in the Galaxy Far, Far Away would be given a BrickHeadz depiction. Jedi Padawan/survivor Ahsoka Tano was the leading possibility, and now LEGO has confirmed it. Even better, good old Snips isn’t the only BrickHeadz scheduled to launch in January next year. We have Brickset to thank for this notable update.

According to them, there are four LEGO BrickHeadz sets coming on New Year’s Day 2022. There’s the milestone set #150, Ahsoka Tano (40539). Immediately following in product number is a seasonal personage for Chinese New Year, Lion Dance Guy (40540). Finally, the next two are cute paired doggie BrickHeadz Pets, namely the St. Bernard (40543) and French Bulldog (40544). But enough blurb. Let’s see them:

January 1 next year is shaping up to be a big LEGO launch day as to be expected. These new and upcoming BrickHeadz, with Ahsoka in the lead, certainly makes for a great milestone celebration for this particular LEGO theme.

Big Reveal for LEGO Harry Potter – Hogwarts Magical Trunk (76399) Coming March 2022

You know what’s coming: another LEGO reveal for a set launching next year, though not January 1st for a change. This is for a major licensed-IP theme too. LEGO Harry Potter has been riding the wave of its 20th anniversary loud and proud. Surely the sets coming out in the following year will not drop the hype. Judging from this teaser video on LEGO’s Facebook found by The Brick Fan, signs are very good. Some LHP sets emphasize color variability so builders can show off their Hogwarts House allegiances. The upcoming Hogwarts Magical Trunk (76399) follows this color variation tradition.

We’ve seen variations of the LEGO play-set that folds up and stores all pieces and minfigures. Some of those sets appear as books or, in the Disney Encanto set tie-ins, magical doors. LEGO Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Magical Trunk (76399) instead takes after the ubiquitous travelling case of many Hogwarts students. It contains tiles and accessories to style the trunk as belonging to a Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff or Slytherin. Also inside are six minifigs, five of which, including Harry, have swappable parts. Finally, props and furnishings enable builders to create various diorama scenes (Sorting, Feast, and Common Room) from the movies.

Thus far, only LEGO.com UK has a product listing up:

  • Authentic accessories – The Sorting Hat, potions, a cauldron, a potion-making book, the Marauder’s Map, Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans™, The Quibbler, goblets, cookies, a chessboard and an owl
  • Customize and personalize – Kids can build up to 5 minifigures, create completely new characters and adapt and combine different building elements to bring their Hogwarts™ adventures to life
  • Recreate classic scenes – There are also 3 memorable moments from the movies to build and roleplay: the Sorting Ceremony; a Great Hall feast; and the Common Room

Like we said, this is not a January 1, 2022 release. Expect the Hogwarts Magical Trunk (76399) to come out on the first of March instead.

150th BrickHeadz Set (“Star Wars” 40539) Might Be Ahsoka Tano

Back in 2020 LEGO asked fans who they would like depicted on the milestone 150th LEGO BrickHeadz set. They did so by opening a poll on LEGO Ideas. Four franchises were represented: Disney’s “Lilo & Stitch,” “Star Wars,” “Minecraft” and killer shark film “Jaws.” “Star Wars” won out, with LEGO promising to email voters with a tease for which franchise character will be represented. To the BrickHeadz corner of the LEGO collecting community, one character deserves to be BrickHeadz set 40539. Recently, the anticipated LEGO email reached Ideas members who voted “Star Wars.” Its teaser image seemed to be confirmation.

40539 teaser

So according to German LEGO news source Promobricks, that BrickHeadz face can only belong to Jedi Padawan/survivor Ahsoka Tano. Further evidence can be dug up at the LEGO.com Building Instructions page. Searching for 40539 brings up a set named for Ahsoka, due next year. No further details are given there, but this set could only be the long-awaited BrickHeadz #150. Promobricks also fills in the blanks with what could be rumored product info for 40539. It would be priced at €9.99 ($11.32 direct conversion) and will launch on January 1.

Bear in mind that the above must remain classified as a rumor until LEGO gives official word. Given the New Year’s release date, confirmation for BrickHeadz Ahsoka Tano(?) (40539) wouldn’t be long coming. Promobricks even wagers the reveal could happen this coming weekend! Let’s wait and see how that goes.

LEGO Star Wars Razor Crest Microfighter (75321) for 2022

Name one iconic element of the space opera franchise “Star Wars” and “spaceships” would be among the replies. The word “starship” may be associated more with “Star Trek,” but “Star Wars” has its space Cruisers and Star Destroyers. These various space-going vessels have been ably adapted by LEGO into numerous sets for years past. In addition to “accurate” builds like the UCS, LEGO Star Wars also caters to younger builders. LEGO Microfighters, for example, turns “Star Wars” ships into cute speeder-sized craft for minifigures to ride on. And the newest set of this line, based on “The Mandalorian,” is revealed.

If you watch that “Star Wars” series on Disney+ then you’ve seen the ship the titular Mandalorian rides in. Din Djarin’s Razor Crest served him as a mobile base while he pursued bounties across the Outer Rim. While it was ultimately destroyed, the Razor Crest already established its own fandom. Older LEGO builders already have their big set (75292). Now, the ship gets a Microfighter version, as officially listed on LEGO.com according to Brick Fanatics.

The Razor Crest Microfighter (75321)

98 pieces | 1 minifigure | $9.99 | coming January 1, 2022

75321 1

Introduce young kids to LEGO® Star Wars™ building toys with The Razor Crest Microfighter (75321). This microscale, LEGO brick version of the iconic Star Wars: The Mandalorian gunship features 2 new-for-January-2022 stud shooters and is quick to build so the action starts fast. The set also includes The Mandalorian LEGO minifigure in a Star Wars: The Mandalorian Season 2 outfit with a buildable jetpack and a blaster pistol to inspire creative play.

That’s yet another LEGO set to usher in the New Year, one affordable for young collectors too. Who can say now to new stud-shooter designs too?

(Sparse) December 2021 LEGO Store Calendar Out Now

It may come across as somewhat ironic, but during December LEGO Store Calendars are remarkably bare-bones. Sure, new sets release on the first of the month for Holiday shoppers to hunt down. But in terms of promotions and events the store calendars aren’t filled out. We have this on good authority from The Brick Fan, which also revealed the December 2021 LEGO Store Calendar. We’re also pretty sorry for running slow on that compared to previous months. Anyway, here’s the December calendar so you can see for yourself. It does only have one unique promo.

0001

Gift with Purchase
  • Santa Claus (30580)LEGO purchases over $40, in-store only, Dec 1-14 or while supplies last

0002

And that’s all she wrote. True, there is a LEGO Holiday Truck Tour event, but that’s really location-dependent. You can check here if you want to confirm. There are some LEGO sets launching right this December 1, like the Disney “Encanto” movie tie-ins. Enjoy getting that buildable Santa Claus set (pictured above) as a reward for doing your Holiday LEGO shopping early.

Lepralego’s “The Meeting Place” Gains 10-K Support on LEGO Ideas

Buildings, buildings and more buildings: this would be an appropriate description for LEGO Ideas’ Third 2021 Review Stage. The creators of this batch of product ideas really put their best architectural-design feet forward. Fantastical locations (often based on licensed IPs) sit side-by-side with original concepts. In our past explorations of the LEGO Ideas website, we often saw one submission featured on the front page. We at The Brick Show breezed through it at the time to check on any new 10-K-supported product ideas. Well now, this submission by 10-K Club member Lepralego won’t allow us to ignore it any more.

ideas meetingplace 1

Check out “The Meeting Point.” This structural build by Lepralego is yet another product idea that would fit right into LEGO City. In this case, it would give a LEGO City neighborhood a distinctly European aesthetic. The Meeting Point is the train station for “Brickester City.”

ideas meetingplace 3

According to Lepralego’s set backstory, the station building was revamped with an iron-glass main terminal, leaving the older façade intact. And indeed, this build balances old and new designs.

ideas meetingplace 2

We have a retro train platform and newsstand mixed with an airport-like terminal area and second-floor café. The set certainly encapsulates the sense of wonder Lepralego felt with various European train stations he has seen.

ideas meetingplace 4

The Meeting Point is made up of 2,850 bricks and features eight minifigures. We’ve got commuters, shop employees and even a busker performing at one corner. This is definitely one of the liveliest building sets we’ve seen make it to a LEGO Ideas Review Stage. From here, we wish Lepralego’s submission the best of luck. The other cool building product ideas already with 10-K support will give The Meeting Place a run for its money.

LEGO Architecture Singapore (21057) Revealed, Coming 2022

LEGO Architecture is a theme that seems to thrive in contrasting between its set releases. One set could be of a storied historical building and the next, a strikingly modern structure. Another might depict just one edifice and then be followed by a set depicting a city’s iconic skyline. The most recent LEGO Architecture release, Taj Mahal (21056), provides the first example. The second and fourth cases in turn are exemplified by 2020’s Tokyo (21051) and Dubai (21052). We’ll be getting more in that vein next year with the reveal of the next Architecture set.

Brickset has it that LEGO first revealed their next Architecture release on Twitter this past Monday, November 29, as above. Now, LEGO.com officially lists the LEGO Architecture Singapore set (21057) for our perusal. Like other “skyline” sets in this theme, Singapore collects key structures from that island country and groups them together. The set is dominated by the towering skyscrapers of Marina Bay Sands, One Raffles Place and OCBC Center. Below are brick-build renditions of the Fullerton Hotel Singapore, Lau Pa Sat, Boat Quay and the Gardens by the Bay. This writer has had the pleasure of visiting some of these locations in Singapore a few years past. Their LEGO Architecture designs are spot on.

Singapore (21057)

  • A building project for adults – This LEGO® Architecture Skyline Collection model (21057) recreates some of the most iconic buildings in Singapore in LEGO style
  • Brick-built landmarks – Marina Bay Sands, the OCBC Centre, One Raffles Place, Lau Pa Sat (also known as Telok Ayer Market), The Fullerton Hotel Singapore and Supertree Grove at Gardens by the Bay
  • Landscaping details – Attach LEGO® elements symbolizing the Singapore River and trees, and discover building techniques to attach buildings at angles to the base

The Architecture Singapore set (21057) costs $59.99 and will officially launch January 1, 2022.  We can bet Singaporeans and lucky travelers to Singapore might just anticipate this particular New Year’s set release. It makes a nice memento of Singapore for the latter group who are unable to revisit anytime soon.

Last Reminder of LEGO Cyber Monday Deals

The craziness of Black Friday weekend finally winds down with Cyber Monday, this November 29. While some of the Black Friday Deals are still on, one-day Cyber Monday offers are in the forefront now. We covered some of them before going into the weekend. Now, let’s review what to expect this Cyber Monday, as well as new stuff we learned.

  • LEGO Fleece Blanket – GWP with VIP purchases over $200
  • $5 discount voucher – get with redemption of 455 VIP points (usual rate at 650 points)

Here’s something else, but only if you’re a LEGO VIP member:

Most other deals from Black Friday still apply until today: GWPs Santa’s Front Yard (40484) and Seasonal Holiday Tree (in-store). And let’s not forget the VIP sweepstakes with a million VIP points at stake. Go get that last bit of LEGO shopping in before Cyber Monday winds down.

UCS AT-AT (75313) Sold Out Just as Designer Vid Premieres

This past weekend saw the release of the newest entry to the LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collectors Series. Standing over 2 feet high and nearly a foot wide, the UCS AT-AT Walker (75313) never fails to impress. The fact that it got launched on Black Friday 2021 just made the hype to get it more overpowering. And being a major LEGO set release, it stands to reason that it’ll get a designer video real soon. Said video premiered on LEGO’s YouTube channel over the weekend. It makes for fascinating viewing for many LEGO Star Wars collectors. That is given the UCS AT-AT (75313) sold out.

Indeed, the news is true according to The Brick Fan. To the determined and grown-up LEGO collector, $799.99 (US) is mere pocket change. LEGO.com US burned through their UCS AT-AT (75313) stock so fast, they don’t expect availability until after the Holidays. So for now, fans may as well watch LEGO designer Henrik Andersen talk about the set’s journey. One can try checking for the new UCS on branded LEGO Stores and maybe LEGOLAND Discovery Centers. At least European LEGO.com in France, Germany and the UK still has them. But nobody knows for how long.

LEGO Monkie Kid 2022 Sets Now Revealed and Listed

“Monkie Kid! Familiar tales, new adventures!” So goes the first line of the opening song for LEGO’s “Monkie Kid.” This new theme and animated series, a brick-built magi-tech pastiche of classical Chinese literature, has defied the odds. Despite uncertain prognoses, LEGO assured collectors that Monkie Kid is good until at least 2023. The series has a new season planned. New sets were promised, and teased recently at an import fair in China. Speaking of which, LEGO Monkie Kid will get a themed area in the under-construction LEGOLAND Shanghai. MK and his friends aren’t retiring soon. These sets attest to it.

Now, Brickset informs us that LEGO.com finally has product listings for the following LEGO Monkie Kid releases next year. We saw one of them at the coverage of November’s Chinese International Import Expo. Finally we get the details on that set and its siblings, and know that they’ll be launching on New Year’s Day 2022.
