2018 LEGO Ninjago Bricktober Minifigure (5005257) Rumored to be a Black Friday LEGO Store Promo

October has come and gone, and the Toys R Us Bricktober event has gone off without significant problems in the countries and markets that still have TRU stores. Stateside, LEGO collectors had to wait for other retail partners to carry the Bricktober LEGO minifigure sets, like with Barnes & Noble. Aside from the LEGO Harry Potter Bricktober minifigures (5005254) which were available on B&N, the other Bricktober sets were supposed to arrive in the US anywhere from this November to December; but when? At least we now have an idea on the general arrival time for the LEGO Ninjago Bricktober minifigure (5005257).

The latest word, as shared with fellow LEGO news source The Brick Fan, is that the LEGO Ninjago Bricktober minifigure (5005257), an assortment of four collectible minifigs, will be available on LEGO Stores as part of the expected Black Friday promotion. It is said to come free for every minimum LEGO purchase of $50, or while supplies last.

The LEGO Ninjago minifigures included in the Bricktober 2018 box set are “Oni Mask of Hatred” Harumi, Jay from the future, Mohawk and Kabuki Nya. For the moment, the Bricktober Ninjago being a Black Friday LEGO promotion, alongside the LEGO Seasonal Christmas Gift Box (40292, minimum $99 purchase) is a rumor until LEGO confirms it.

Rumor: List of “Leaked” LEGO Tie-In Sets for 2019’s “Avengers 4”

Some movie fans might say that if they want spoilers regarding an upcoming franchise movie, they just need to keep an eye on upcoming LEGO set news or rumors. Indeed, sometimes when word of a new set tying in to a film yet to release comes out in online discussion, they tend to reveal details.

Case in point, there’s still nothing but sparse details about the 2019 MCU installment Avengers 4; it doesn’t even have a subtitle yet even now. But perhaps the set of rumors newly provided by LEGO news Instagrammer falconfan1414 might shed light on what might be expected. He has listed five Avengers 4 tie-ins with working titles thus far, though the names hint at things we might watch out for when the movie premieres next year.

There’s our list of rumored LEGO Marvel Avengers 4 sets. The spotlights on Iron Man (first MCU hero) and Cap (recently hinted to be retired by actor Chris Evans) are expected, but a set for War Machine is interesting. Then again, his character (and actor Don Cheadle) got hyped up as a “Thanos survivor” in other Disney promotional things, so there’s that.

In closing, we again reiterate that when we share info titled as “Rumor”, then its veracity is up in the air until LEGO has its say on the matter, no matter how many times falconfan1414 may have gotten some things right in the past. That said, Avengers 4 will premiere next year on May 3.

2019 LEGO Ninjago Sets Teased

If you recall from last July, we reported on a certain rumor that the upcoming 2019 LEGO Ninjago sets will be based on previous releases stretching back to 2011 when the theme was first introduced. Speculations regarding a Ninjago re-release were further flamed when during SDCC 2018, it was revealed by the LEGO Ninjago panel that there were no new season on the works for next year. Instead, the panel became a sort of a trip down Ninjago memory lane where the panelists talked about their most memorable episodes from the franchise during the past 7 years. This lead many LEGO Ninjago fans to think that there might be no new and unique tie-in sets to expect come 2019.

Fast forward to October, the recent update to the LEGO Ninjago Ride Ninja app were rolled out both on the App Store and Google Play, and somewhere along its cache of bikes are images of two of the most familiar rides in Ninjago. Here is a screenshot of Kai’s Fire Cycle and Zane’s Snowmobile as seen from the app.

If you’re a long time fan of the franchise, it will be relatively easy for you to see that these two virtual bikes are very much the same to actual sets seen in LEGO Ninjago Kai’s Blade Cycle (9441) and Fangpyre Truck Ambush (9445). Both of these sets were released in 2012 as part of a series of sets in line with LEGO Ninjago Rise of the Snakes story arc.

It is also interesting to note that a rumored list of new 2019 LEGO sets to watch out for also made mention of a Kai’s Blade Cycle and Zane’s Snowmobile (70667) set. It is not far-fetched to consider that we might be seeing these cool Ninjago bikes again, but this time, combined in a single set. It should be noted that the same list also includes sets such as Fire Temple (70680), Jay’s Storm Fighter (70668), Samurai Mech (70665), Cole’s Earth Driller (70669), and The Golden Dragon (70666), all of which are very similar to LEGO Ninjago sets released between 2011 to 2013.

The way I see it, there is nothing much to expect from these 2019 LEGO Ninjago sets if indeed they are the exact same copies of their predecessors. However, it will be nice of LEGO if they can probably throw in some new pieces or new iterations of Ninjago minifigures, and not just to rehash another re-release. I’m not really sure if LEGO Ninjago fans will agree, but the way I see it, the LEGO Ninjago theme has reached a certain plateau or saturation point where the stories behind the theme might need a reboot of some kind. For sets that are dependent on an original LEGO theme or story, it is definitely a challenge to keep it more engaging and interesting. Undoubtedly, LEGO Ninjago is one of LEGO’s original and longest running fantasy-themed line, and it’s kind of difficult to imagine that it might suffer the same fate like that of Bionicle and Nexo Knights. We just have to wait and see in 2019.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Sets Rumored to Arrive this December

Sony’s out to prove that even when sharing film rights to Spider-Man with Marvel Studios, they can still come up with a franchise featuring the massive supporting cast of the friendly neighborhood wall-crawler. Their first post-MCU-Spider cinematic outing was Venom starring Tom Hardy, and on December there’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. On the LEGO front, about the most prominent Spider-Man set to be revealed is the yet-to-be released LEGO Marvel Super Heroes: Spider-Man Mech vs. Venom Mech (76115). There’s also going to be a 3D-animated special entitled Spider-Man: Vexed by Venom, coming in 2019 and seemingly working on synergy with Sony’s movies. And this time, it looks like LEGO is giving its share to the Spider-Verse with the rumored arrival of LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Sets

Particularly this rumor has it that LEGO will spring some surprise tie-in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sets at year’s end. According to sources tapped by fellow LEGO news site Brick Fanatics, these LEGO sets will arrive December 1, ahead of the animated movie’s premiere.

Into the Spider-Verse is produced by The LEGO Movie’s directorial tandem of Phil Lord and Chris Miller, based on a Marvel Comics storyline that sees various incarnations of Spider-Man from different parallel dimensions brought together to face a powerful foe. The focus of this film is on young alternate Spider-Man, Miles Morales (Shameik Moore).

As always, this piece of news, like any rumors, should be taken with a pinch of salt. Ultimately it’ll be LEGO or their license partners (Marvel and Sony in this case) that’ll confirm or debunk what we have reported. We just hope that it’ll be soon enough.

Rumored 2019 LEGO Star Wars Polybags Celebrate 20 Years of Product Line

In 1999, George Lucas brought out the culmination of his promise to make a back story movie for Star Wars’ most infamous Sith Lord, Darth Vader, with Episode I: The Phantom Menace showing his origin as a Tatooine slave boy in the person of Anakin Skywalker. To coincide with the debut of the first Star Wars prequel, LEGO also released its first licensed theme set, which later became one of its most lucrative line of building sets: LEGO Star Wars. Now that the theme will be celebrating its 20th anniversary next year, we can certainly expect LEGO to highlight this milestone – and intel suggests that one of the ways LEGO will celebrate this is by offering a new line of 2019 LEGO Star Wars polybags.

LEGO insider Sir von Lego via Eurobricks has dropped the names of at least three 2019 LEGO Star Wars polybags that will come out in 2019 as tribute to 20 years of The Phantom Menace and the LEGO Star Wars line itself.

Micro versions of the Naboo Starfighter (30383), Snowspeeder (30384) and Anakin’s Podracer (30461) are expected, their labels and numbers having been corroborated by news source Rebelscum.

Longtime collectors of LEGO Star Wars might recall that the three vehicles to get a polybag version are also among the very first sets released in the original 1999 launch of the LEGO Star Wars product line. Particularly Anakin’s Podracer (7131), Naboo Fighter (7141) and Snowspeeder (7130).

That’s a neat touch, and we can definitely expect more sets to come which we hope to reveal anytime soon.

Additional Details on Some LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2019 Sets

More and more details are trickling out from the leaking faucet. With a modest number of LEGO sets (our estimates pegs it at 100 or so) expected to make their debut next year, it seems that additional details are being picked by our zealous LEGO associates from across the internet. And if you’re reading this, I want to begin with a disclaimer that you’ll never find any of those leaked images right here. We all know by now that it is a very risky road to take. However, multiple sources from the Internet and those from the LEGO fan community are now discovering some of the things that we can expect from LEGO, particularly with regards to some 2019 LEGO Marvel Superheroes sets that will be announced soon.

LEGO insiders in various places in Instagram have shared several details of what we can expect from the 2019 LEGO Marvel Superheroes tie-in sets, especially considering that 2019 will see the release of some of the highly anticipated MCU films of recent. We have cosmic powered Captain Marvel, the Thanos conclusion in Avengers 4, and the return of the wall crawler in Spider-Man: Far From Home. According to these sources, we can expect an announcement of the following set distributions for these LEGO tie-ins very soon:

It looks like LEGO is still following its previous model of releasing a certain number of tie-in sets depending on how big its related film is going to be. Last year, we saw six LEGO Marvel Superheroes sets dedicated to Infinity War, and this time with five sets expected to be released in connection with MCU’s grandest conclusion ever. I also find it curious that LEGO is investing three sets for Spider-Man: Far From Home, with an additional set added to the roster of its 2019 LEGO Marvel Superheroes sets as compared to 2017’s releases.

As a last note, some of the images for these above mentioned sets are now circulating over the internet, particularly for set numbers 76113 and 76114. So if you are really excited to see them, I’m sure you’ll easily find your way to them. I am particularly excited for the Avengers 4 sets, and LEGO’s ironclad secrecy so as not to leak possible major spoilers (though LEGO has a propensity to do that), only makes the wait even more exciting.

From the Rumor Mill: LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley (40289) Set May Be the Next LEGO GWP

Way back in August, LEGO fans who were watching the Designer Video for the LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle set (71043) saw something blurry but very interesting in the background. That peculiar thing turned out to be another LEGO Harry Potter set albeit on a microscale level: the LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley (40289). This still yet to be released set microbuild also includes an exclusive Ollivander minifigure.

Potter-headed LEGO enthusiasts were pleased at this revelation (though there are some who has contrary feelings about it), and one question remains: When will it be released? A rumor has popped up that it might be next around month, and not for sale, but as a promotional or gift with purchase (GWP) set. Check out the box art images below as sourced from eBay.

A source intimated to fellow LEGO news source The Brick Fan that the LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley (40289) micro-scale set is going to be offered as a promotional starting November 9 for a minimum LEGO purchase of $99. But what is strange is that it’s not listed on the November 2018 LEGO Store Calendar. If the rumor ends up being true, then LEGO is probably putting a wider degree of control over at the promotions in case that the microscale Diagon Alley might prove to be popular among LEGO Harry Potter fans. True enough, better expect this offer to be short-lived, running in a few days to say the least.

Now as before, any rumor that we post on The Brick Show should be treated as such until The LEGO Group releases official information to confirm or debunk it. It’s still early in October so we have until the end of month to see of indeed the LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley (40289) ends up being our next LEGO Shop@Home promotional. Stay tuned.

Is it the End for the LEGO BrickHeadz Theme?

New York Comic Con 2018 has just wrapped up, and it’s quite disappointing that LEGO was literally absent from the said Comic Con. Unlike last year when LEGO’s presence is somehow felt with its offer of new LEGO BrickHeadz – an NYCC exclusive and a dozen of new 2018 BrickHeadz sets at that time – this year’s LEGO-related NYCC events are close to none, with a couple of exceptions particularly from the LEGO DC Super Villains video game booth and the announcement of a new LEGO Spider-Man animated special. To add, LEGO’s noticeable absence from NYCC does not bode quite well for the future of one its popular sets, which might somehow signal the end for the LEGO BrickHeadz theme.

Though LEGO’s lack of promotions for the LEGO BrickHeadz line during this year’s NYCC may not immediately mean that the theme is about to be cancelled, we should note that LEGO has traditionally utilized the comic book conventions as a means of launching the 2017 and 2018 BrickHeadz sets. It is quite puzzling therefore that LEGO has decided to skip NYCC and to be quite mum about the future of this relatively new theme. Other than the release of the LEGO BrickHeadz Homer Simpson and Krusty the Clown (41632), and the rumored Gravity Falls BrickHeadz, there’s nothing much to expect from the theme as of the moment.

As it seems, another nail in the coffin that may hint on the end of the LEGO BrickHeadz theme came from fellow LEGO news source, The Brick Fan, when he pointed out to an unverified piece of info coming from one of his readers. According to the report, the information came from a local LEGOLAND Discovery cashier in Michigan. At that time, all the LEGO BrickHeadz set were reportedly being cleared out from the store including the ones that were just recently released. The unnamed cashier also mentioned that the theme will be ending this year, hence the need for the clearing out sale.

I know that these are somewhat circumstantial and unverified evidences, but I couldn’t help but consider the possibility of LEGO pulling the plug for the LEGO BrickHeadz line. In terms of being lucrative or not, LEGO is still yet to release actual sales figures for the BrickHeadz theme to somehow determine if LEGO will eventually decide to let go of this brick-built chibi trend. Until we get an official press release from LEGO, then it will be wise to consider this piece of news as speculative at best.

The LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigures (71023) Teased for February 2019

I guess this is somehow expected. Like its predecessor, The LEGO Movie 2 is getting tons of attention from The LEGO Group, with a good number of tie-in sets slated for next year, some of which were already listed by Amazon France. Now LEGO news authority in Germany, Promobricks, have recently received their latest copy of this year’s LEGO Christmas Catalog and from the looks of it, we will be receiving a new wave of LEGO Collectible Minifigures just in time with the film’s release in February. If you recall in 2014, LEGO has also released a similar CMF line in celebration of the first LEGO Movie. With the Harry Potter and Wizarding World CMF hype starting to wind down, LEGO is now building on the momentum by teasing on the arrival of The LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigures (71023) by February 2019.

This particular page from the LEGO Christmas Catalogue hints on the arrival of a new Collectible Minifigures series, scheduled for February. It is reasonable to assume that this whole new CMF line will be dedicated to The LEGO Movie sequel since all eyes will be on this next big, brick-inspired animation film. We can also see another hint from LEGO set portal Price Vortex where the site listed The LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigures (71023).

If ever this rumor is confirmed by LEGO themselves, then we can assume that this will be a great CMF line to collect. The introduction of our TLM characters’ new designs following the events of the infamous post-Taco Tuesday, were received quite positively by LEGO fans. The minifigure characters that we see from the film’s trailer so far show a rather tough and Mad-Max style of design, so we can somehow expect that several of the character in this rumored CMF line will also sport a similar look. It will also be great to see the new Wasteland Batman minifigure included in this series.

Now that we’re counting the days before the New York Comic Con kicks in, let’s wait and see if LEGO has something in-store for us. The LEGO Movie 2 is scheduled to hit theaters in the US on February 8, 2019.

All LEGO DC Super-Villains Characters Revealed!

Yes, September’s almost over and then, WB Interactive and Traveller’s Tales can finally unleash their upcoming videogame title LEGO DC Super-Villains. This adventure on the other side of the DC character alignment promises a veritable load of playable characters both villain and hero. How many? Apparently, somebody just found out how to take a peek at all LEGO DC Super-Villains characters slated to appear in the video game.

YouTube gamer TheHiddenBlade01 has just uploaded a video that might have spoiled the who’s who of characters available in the upcoming LEGO DC Super-Villains. Footage includes a screenshot of the rumored complete character roster in what seems to be the select screen; the photo for Reverse Flash is enlarged as if the cursor was on him.

TheHiddenBlade01 also zooms in on the image several times to pick out details on the villain (and hero) characters that the LDCSV player will have access to. Villains like Catwoman, Clayface and Gorilla Grodd are obvious since they were featured in previous trailers, but why are the heroes included too?

Possible theories for having the DC superheroes on-board among the villains include being a bonus for completing the story campaign, or acquired from there being a secret scenario with them involved. “Enemy mine” team-up and (shock!) brainwashing are also offered as possibilities.

It seems authentic, but for now we’ll consider this screenshot a rumor and we’ll wait until LEGO DC Super-Villains is out before we pass judgment. Anyway, the game is available for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, and will be released October 16.
