Earlier this week, the LEGO Ideas Team has announced the winner of this year’s Your Creations in the World-Famous LEGO House Building Contest. If you recall, a similar contest has been launched last year where LEGO fan builders may have the chance of having their original brick creations be displayed at the LEGO House in Billund.
A Grand Prize winner and several Runner-Ups were eventually chosen across three different categories: Architecture, Minifigure, and Nature. All of these winning entries, plus the rest of the other sixty-six (66) winners of the fan vote will have the opportunity to be also placed on display at the House Brick.
A couple of days ago, LEGO left us with a cryptic teaser on social media that features what seems to be a classic 2×2 brick accentuated by four bright multi-colored neon studs. The caption hints at a big announcement, giving the impression that what LEGO teases might be leaning towards a new product launch the focuses on lighting enhancements of sorts. And in case you missed it, here’s what LEGO has to say.
I’m not sure if June 26, 2021, will be the actual product launch, or perhaps the official reveal. But in both cases, we can expect more and more info to come out in the next few weeks.
For now, my hunch is that it could be referring to LEGO’s official lighting system which is the LEGO Night Mode, first revealed during last year’s LEGO World in Copenhagen. I have to say that its soft launch is somewhat of a low profile at that time. Perhaps it’s LEGO’s way of testing the waters with regards to how fans will receive the announcement. I assume that the LEGO Group was fully aware of the existing third-party providers that dominated the market for custom LEGO lighting kits. And the company would like to see how LEGO fans will respond to such an official LEGO product.
An example of how the LEGO Night Mode Light Kit can be integrated with larger sets, in this case, with the LEGO Ideas Tree House.
Take note that this is just a speculation of mine based on what LEGO has previously revealed. And though my best guess is that it is pointing towards the direction of a big product launch for LEGO Night Mode, it is prudent to wait and see what LEGO will officially reveal in June.
So what do you think about this upcoming reveal? What is your best guess? Let us know in the comments below.
In case you missed it (or have been imprisoned in carbonite steel for as long as you can remember), LEGO has recently released two LEGO Star Wars 18+ sets that each deserves a prime spot on any LSW fan’s collection. Both released just several weeks ago, the Imperial Probe Droid (75306), and a remake of a classic LEGO set, the iconic R2-D2 (75308), are now both available over at LEGO Shop@Home in case you’re interested to add this to our LEGO must-haves. And before you add these sets to your LSW collection, then you may want to watch these latest designer videos that LEGO has shared over YouTube.
For more information about these sets, you may want to click on the following LEGO affiliate links that will bring you to LEGO’s online shopping portal.
*Update: It seems that R2-D2 is currently out of stock over at LEGO’s online shopping portal. You may want to check instead with your nearest LEGO brand store for its availability.
It looks like we have confirmation on how LEGO intends to expand its 2021 portfolio of LEGO Super Mario sets, following the now-deleted listing from Romanian online store Auchan. Thanks to this tip, we now have an idea of what LEGO has in store for its LEGO Super Mario summer 2021 collection. This is not an all-inclusive set, and we can expect additional information to come out any time soon.
In the meantime, what we know is that we will be getting another expansion set in the form of a brick-built version of the Lakitu Heavenly World. It will feature Lakitu, Bullet Bill and Fuzzy, and will expect to retail for $40. We can also expect two new Power-Up costumes for Mario in the form of Frog Mario and Bee Mario each retailing for $10 similar to its predecessors. And finally, LEGO is further adding more characters in our LEGO Super Mario Adventures with its Series 3 Character Packs. This next wave of 10 blind bags includes Torpedo Ted, Bony Beetle, 1-Up, Scuttlebug, Parachute Bob-omba, Galoomba, Swoop, Boo, Amp, and Crowber.
There’s a good possibility that we can hear an official reveal from LEGO anytime soon, considering that this info has already been shared with third-party retailers. I’ll keep you posted once more related news comes in about this wave of LEGO Super Mario summer 2021 sets.
The June 2021 LEGO Store Calendar has now been uploaded via LEGO’s servers and it looks like there’s plenty to expect at your local LEGO store at LEGO Shop@Home starting next week. The month of June marks the availability of most of LEGO’s H2 (or 2nd half of the year) offerings, and LEGO is throwing in a handful of promotional items as an incentive to tick that that next LEGO wishlist. Let’s take a look.
Offer valid from June 1 to June 30, 2021; in-store only.
It looks like Ninjago is now given the official BrickHeadz treatment, and the timing couldn’t be better. LEGO Ninjago now marks its 10th anniversary making it one of LEGO’s longest-running themes. And aside from the various exclusive LEGO Ninjago minifigures and sets that were announced to celebrate the occasion, LEGO is now throwing in its first BrickHeadz rendition of some of the most iconic characters of the theme. It is not exactly a freebie, but this 3-in-1 set comes in at a discounted price of $10 if you happen to have a single-receipt purchase of any LEGO Ninjago sets worth $85 and more from June 1 to June 30. Originally valued at $29.99, this BrickHeadz trio includes a rendering of Golden Lloyd, Nya Samurai X, and the Firstbourne Dragon. Please take note that this is an in-store offer, so better plan for your next LEGO Store visit.
Free LEGO Speed Champions McLaren Elva (30343) polybag
Offer valid from June 7 to June 20, 2021.
To celebrate the release of its larger cousin, the LEGO Speed Champions McLaren Elva (76902), LEGO is also throwing in a polybag for every single-receipt purchase of any LEGO set worth $40 or more, both in-store and online. You may also want to check out the next wave of LEGO Speed Champions to see what they have to offer.
Free LEGO Swing Ship Ride (5006748) for VIP Members
Offer valid for LEGO VIP members only from June 21 to 30, 2021.
Here’s a treat for LEGO VIP members. Any single-receipt, LEGO purchases worth $85 from June 21 to 30, 2021 will entitle you to this free LEGO Swing Ship Ride (5006748) set. We have little information about this freebie, especially about its piece count. But judging from its initial photos, we can see that the Swing Ship Ride comes on an 8×8 base that features a swing mechanism and a sticker that echoes LEGO’s founding principle of “LEG GODT” or “play well”. I’ll give you updates once more info comes in.
Free LEGO Blue VIP Keychain (854090)
Offer valid when you sign-up for the first time to become a LEGO VIP member. Promo runs from June 1 to December 31, 2021.
Throughout the second half of the year, LEGO is giving out the exclusive LEGO Blue VIP Keychain as an incentive for signing up as a LEGO VIP member. Its a great way to start your journey on great LEGO discounts, rewards, and other cool LEGO giveaways.
Free LEGO Bob Minion with Robot Arms (30387)
Offer valid from June 24 to July 11, 2021.
To mark the long-overdue release of Universal Pictures’ Minions: The Rise of Gru animated film, LEGO is also giving out incentives for those who will make their next LEGO Minions purchase. From June 24 to July 11, any single-receipt purchase of any LEGO Minions sets worth $40 will entitle you to this Bob Minion polybag. It’s a nice way to build your army of little yellow minions if you ask me.
I have to say that the offerings and promos listed in the June 2021 LEGO Store Calendar are pretty exciting. So be sure to check with LEGO Shop@Home for the latest and upcoming LEGO sets next month.
