The LEGO Group is once again tapping the LEGO fan community for inputs, and this time, for its next LEGO Technic set. Releasing it through an online survey form, LEGO is now asking the help of fans to pinpoint the next big thing in LEGO Technic.
Asking for feedback from the LEGO community is not actually new for LEGO. The LEGO Ideas platform, for example, is a great way of gauging the types of sets that customers may want in the future. However, this is one of those occasions where LEGO directly asks customers what they actually want, and in particular, with regards to what’s next in the LEGO Technic theme.
There are 11 simple questions to answer, asking fans for what particular IP brand would they like to see translated into LEGO Technic, the types of vehicles they wish to see rendered in LEGO Technic, reasons for buying LEGO Technic sets, and if adding Control+ functions will make fans more likely to buy these sets. Fans are also encouraged to share what kind of future technologies they wish to be added into LEGO Technic sets.
The survey will probably take around 5 minutes to complete, so if you can spare a few minutes, you may proceed with the survey right here. This survey link will be available until March 7 so I hope you can find time to fill it in until then. I just hope that LEGO will also find time to release its survey results. It will be interesting to see what other LEGO fans have in mind regarding future LEGO Technic sets.
The LEGO Technic Liebherr R 9800 (42100) is the first-ever LEGO Technic set to incorporate the Control+ system. What other future technologies will this LEGO theme will incorporate?
For the latest LEGO Technic sets available, and even upcoming ones, be sure to check them out over at LEGO Shop@Home.
By now, you might be aware already that the recently revealed LEGO Vidiyo theme is also getting a pretty neat line-up of minifigures called LEGO Vidiyo Bandmates (43101). Now listed over at LEGO Shop@Home, this new series of minifigures consists of 12 characters that come with a variety of seemingly random 2×2 tile pieces called BeatBits. But what could pose as a challenge for LEGO minifigure collectors is the fact that the LEGO Vidiyo Bandmates does not come packaged in the typical blind bag fashion that we are all used to, but instead comes in its first-ever boxed packaging. Feeling your way through this series is certainly not an option anymore.

However, thanks to our friend Lukas from Stone Wars, we can now have an idea of what we can expect from the LEGO Vidiyo Bandmates’ box distribution, and hopefully zero-in on the characters that we wish to get.
First off according to Lukas, the unopened larger box packaging contains exactly 24 boxes of the LEGO Vidiyo Bandmates minifigures. And we can be assured that we can get two complete series out of this.
As I’ve mentioned earlier, having these cardboard boxes for this series’ packaging virtually eliminates our chances of feeling our way in these minifigs like we’ve always done. Though I may not be exactly happy with LEGO’s choice of packaging here, I understand the company’s decision to forego the usual plastic polybags consistent with its goals of promoting sustainability.
Now the only question is, is there a way to find out which LEGO Vidiyo Bandmates minifigure are we going to get based on its distribution in an unopened box? And based on what we are seeing from Stone Wars, then it might be such the case. According to this image shared by Lukas, then we might have a pretty good grasp of what to expect.
Image courtesy of Lukas from Stone Wars.
If we can expect LEGO to be consistent with their packaging similar to their previous CMF series, then we can be sure that other than having two complete series in each box, we can also expect to get exactly two copies of the same minifigure placed side by side. Of course, this is assuming that what we have is an unopened box, to begin with. So if you’re looking at it from the top, we can expect to have:
Werewolf Drummer
Red Panda Dancer
Discowboy
DJ Cheetah
Samurapper
Shark Singer
Banshee Singer
Cotton Candy Cheerleader
Genie Dancer
Alien Keytarist
Bunny Dancer
Ice Cream Saxophonist
We’re not sure at this time if LEGO intends to continue this form of cardboard packaging for its minifigures. I guess that it might only be for this particular series of LEGO Vidiyo Bandmates, but we just have to wait and see in the next few months.

It has been more than a decade since we saw LEGO’s first attempt to enter the MMOG (massively multiplayer online game) arena. When the LEGO Universe opened its virtual doors to the world, it made sure that players will not just have an immersive open-world sort of experience but a great soundtrack as well. And though LEGO Universe was eventually shut down in just less than 2 years, fans of the first LEGO online game will never forget the power of its music and the genius behind it. To celebrate this musical milestone, LEGO has now released a LEGO Universe 10th year anniversary playlist that features the game’s remastered soundtrack arranged by acclaimed composes Bryan Tyler.
You can listen to the LEGO Universe 10th year anniversary soundtrack through the following video. What is neat about this video/soundtrack is that it also features several video clips, concept arts, and behind-the-scenes footage of the game itself. It’s like listening to a great album while watching a documentary at the same time.
Here’s the LEGO Group’s official press statement on this commemorative soundtrack. You can also find this soundtrack on Spotify and other music and podcast streaming platforms.
THE LEGO GROUP MARKS TENTH ANNIVERSARY OF LEGO® UNIVERSE WITH REMASTERED AND NEVER BEFORE RELEASED SOUNDTRACK
Released to coincide with Hollywood composer Brian Tyler’s appearance on LEGO Games’ Bits N’ Bricks podcast.
Billund, February 24th, 2021: In December, the LEGO Group marked the 25th anniversary of its first-ever video game with the release of the popular Bits N’ Bricks podcast series. Today, the company marks another important date with the release of the fully remastered LEGO® Universe (Original Game Soundtrack) to purchase and streaming for the first time ever. The soundtrack is accompanied by three episodes of the Bits N’ Bricks podcast looking back at the game’s development, with today’s episode focusing on conversations with composer Brian Tyler, producer Richard Dekkard, as well as a brief visit from the voice of LEGO Universe: Sir Patrick Stewart.
LEGO Universe was the company’s first-ever massively multiplayer online game launched in October 2010, with a soundtrack composed by Brian Tyler and additional music by John Harman and Richard Dekkard. Now a celebrated Hollywood composer, Tyler has composed soundtracks for huge blockbuster smashes including Avengers: Age of Ultron and Iron Man 3. The soundtrack to LEGO Universe was the first video game soundtrack he composed following soundtracks for classic films like Constantine and The Lazarus Project. It was created with the Slovak National Symphony Orchestra, but due to scheduling constraints, Tyler ended up overseeing the entire recording live from a studio in Los Angeles using video and audio streaming between the countries.
The LEGO Universe theme went on to be used at the entrance at LEGOLAND® parks across the globe and proved to be very popular with fans. Despite its popularity, the soundtrack has never been available to purchase or stream until now.
As the landmark anniversary approached, Tyler and Dekkard came together to completely remaster the score, which the LEGO Group is proud to be releasing today (Wednesday, February 24th) across popular digital music stores and streaming services. The album will also be available on YouTube featuring a special behind-the-scenes video retrospective. Patrick Stewart, who served as narrator for the game, will also appear in this video.
On the remaster, Tyler said: “I’m really proud of the music and I’m proud of the game. I am asked all the time ‘Is it going to be available? and earnestly thought to myself ‘I hope it is!’ I really wanted that for the fans, so I was not going to miss a beat in terms of helping get this out there to the world.”
To hear more about LEGO Universe’s inception, creation, launch, and eventual closure, as well as other key moments in the LEGO Group’s long, rich history in digital play and video games listen to the Bits N’ Bricks podcast. Hosted by journalist Brian Crecente and documentarian Ethan Vincent, the podcast draws on over 120 interviews and explores the many facets of LEGO gaming, from unreleased projects to beloved masterpieces.
On a similar note, be sure to also check the latest LEGO Vidiyo sets that are coming soon in March. LEGO Vidiyo is the latest music and tech-powered theme that combines physical LEGO bricks and the company’s top-notch AR or augmented reality tech. But beyond the tech wow factor, LEGO Vidiyo allows younger LEGO fans to explore and create their own music while virtually interacting with a colorful and fun bunch of LEGO Vidiyo Bandmates. Be sure to check this new wave of LEGO sets over at LEGO Shop@Home.
After seeing the Jazz Quartet reached its 10K milestone, another product idea reaches the inner circle of the LEGO Ideas Review Stage. Coming from a LEGO fan builder that has one of his LEGO Ideas entries already approved for production, we now have another potential LEGO set in the form of the LEGO Ideas My Totoro product idea.
Designed by legotruman, the LEGO Ideas My LEGO Totoro is his next creation to get the thumbs-up approval of fans following his approved LEGO Ideas Vincent van Gogh The Starry Night. This next entry features Studio Ghibli’s iconic character based on the anime movie My Neighbor Totoro. The set features a brick-built version of Totoro, a smaller blue version of him, and minifigure versions of sisters Satsuki and Mei. But makes this set stand out other than Totoro is the inclusion of the famous Cat Bus.
The front side of the bus features a well-sculpted cat face and comes with a removable rooftop that reveals spacious bus seats. The bus also comes with six pairs of legs and a sizeable beaver-like tail.
Here’s how legotruman describes his LEGO Ideas My LEGO Totoro.
This is my dream Lego set!
Ever since I was a kid and watched “My Neighbor Totoro” for the first time, I wanted Lego to make a set with Totoro and Cat Bus.

Features :
LEGO Totoro
To match the original animation, Lego Totoro is scaled to about twice the height of the Satsuki minifigure.
The whiskers are made of lego wolverine’s claws 🙂
The chest pattern is formed with lego parts instead of printed pieces.
I also used a smooth finishing surface to make it look cuter and more like the animation.
– Part count: 116
Cat Bus
Each leg is posable, so your Lego Cat Bus can run and jump as you like!
The left side of the main body has a loose part. You can easily switch the parts to give Cat Bus an open ‘door’, just like in the anime.
The roof is removable so you can easily access the interior, and put minifigures inside for a ride!
The top red panel displaying the destination is a 1×4 brick, multiple Kanji options can be included for changing the target station.
– Part Count: 718
The set also includes
Satsuki and Mei Lego minifigures, with an umbrella to recreate the iconic “raining bus station” scene (See the image above XD)
Blue Totoro
The Bus station, with accurate Kanji print to match the original animation.
– Total parts: 869

If minifigures can feel dread or fear, what do you think our little LEGO plastic pals are most afraid of? Is it being stepped upon by their human counterparts? Or be left unintentionally into the perpetual darkness underneath an uncaring washer? Or like any sane minifigure, to be eaten alive by this imposing LEGO Attack on Titan MOC by fan builder funnystuffs. I have not written about LEGO MOCs for quite some time since my last commentary on that excellent piece of work which is the custom LEGO Sauron from Lord of the Rings. But looking at this custom LEGO Attack on Titan, I know I needed to say something about this extraordinary brick rendition.
Shingeki no Kyojin (or popularly known as Attack on Titan) has been one of the most popular mangas out there with quite a following. It has also been adapted to an anime series bearing the same title as well. The series’ storyline is a typical coming of age story given a dark, apocalyptic twist: pit a bunch of young, zealous soldiers against a horde of man-eating creatures in all shapes and sizes, and watch how the fate of the world hangs in the balance. If you haven’t read the most recent chapters of the manga series, then I guess I will stop here to avoid potential spoilers.
This LEGO Attack on Titan MOC depicts the Attack Titan used by one of the manga’s lead characters, Eren Yeager. LEGO fan builder funnystuffs managed to convey a terrifying brick version of this towering monster with all the necessary points of articulation complemented by its accurate size and scale. The choice of color is also spot-on, giving it a natural skin color similar to how this infamous Titan is depicted in the anime series. The way the head was sculpted, and how the Attack Titan’s hair was depicted, is also impressively accurate. The rough, wooly look on this brick Titan’s head was achieved using a combination of black, oversized claw, and tooth pieces. I also love how the green translucent pieces accentuate its eyes as well.
And like the mysterious inner workings of Titan anatomy, this custom LEGO Attack on Titan also features a hidden cockpit on its back. It even has space for a minifigure version of Eren to fit in. To be more precise, such an internal, fleshy compartment is to be found underneath the nape of a Titan based on the manga. But given the size of this minifigure-scaled creation, then I guess placing it at the back is the most reasonable option.
Finally, the complete array of the Scout Regiment’s fiercest warriors are also complete and in full battle gear in their latest omni-directional mobility gear. Seeing the minifigure versions of Levi and Mikasa Ackermann makes me wish to see LEGO’s official versions of them.
Whatever is the case, I’m pretty sure that minifigures will tremble in fear in seeing this brick of a monster. They just have to run fast enough to avoid being eaten. Be sure to check out funnystuff’s incredible brick creations that you can find over his Flickr page.

If you recall earlier this month, The LEGO Group has launched its very first LEGO White Noise album aimed to promote mindfulness and general wellness among LEGO fans. The playlist – which can be found over at 15 different music streaming platforms including Spotify and iTunes – features a collection of ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) tracks that helps listeners to slow down and be relaxed while doing their next building project or any mentally demanding task in particular.
This time around, LEGO brings us behind the scenes to see how such amazing, one-of-a-kind tracks were made and engineered using the various sounds created from more than 10,000 LEGO pieces. Watch the video below.
Practically created for LEGO grown-up fans, the track was initially designed to accompany the LEGO Creator Expert Botanical Collection but it can eventually be listened to whatever task you are working on.
I can just imagine the level of meticulous detail (not to mention the arduous tasks of cleaning up 10,000 LEGO pieces, lol) that went in designing, experimenting and engineering this LEGO White Noise playlist. To be honest, I never thought hearing the sound of LEGO clicks to be so relaxing.
The LEGO White Noise album and playlist runs for almost 3 hours and a half of pure LEGO soundscape that consists of clicking LEGO bricks, swirling studs, falling LEGO pieces, and much more.
Be sure to check with your favorite music streaming service to find out more about this beautifully crafted mindful mix.

The March 2021 LEGO Store Calendar is now up, revealing a promotional, limited-edition freebie that celebrates the life and accomplishments of one of the most revered names in aviation. The LEGO Amelia Earhart Tribute (40450) has been announced and now thanks to a LEGO-certified store in Australia, we can now have a better look at this gift-with-purchase set.
Bricks Megastore has published a couple of high-resolution images of the LEGO Amelia Earhart Tribute (40450), giving us a closer look at her iconic red Lockheed Vega 5B. Affectionally referred to by Earhart as her “Little Red Bus”, this brick-built display set comes with plenty of details including some yellow sticker details on the side and the plane’s registration number at the tip of its right side wing and tail. The plane also rests on top of a brick-built, oval platform with a 2×4 plate bearing the name Amelia Earhart, Aviation Pioneer. I was hoping that these might be printed parts actually, but having it as a GWP set, then I guess I have no complaints about it.
The minifigure that comes with this set seems to be exclusive as well. Its torso comes printed with a new aviation suit with Earhart’s signature tie. The head print seems to be unique as well with some minute details added near her eyes and cheek giving it a rough, ready-to-fly anytime look. For the accessories, her official minifigure version comes with a leather cap, flying goggles, and a 2×2 printed tile. I’m not quite sure if this is a new printed tile piece considering that the map itself has flight path markings. I actually love what LEGO did here with all its attention to detail.
And though I’m still unsure why LEGO will release such a promotional set at this time considering that historically her Amelia Earhart’s flight happened sometime in May of 1932, I appreciate LEGO’s thoughtful design of the set’s box art. It has her face printed on the upper right corner of the box instead of the typical limited-edition logo. We also have the year ‘1932’ printed on the side of the box in reference to Earhart’s legendary flight across the Atlantic Ocean.
The LEGO Amelia Earhart Tribute (40450) will be available from March 6 to 14 or until supplies last and will be added to your cart automatically once your LEGO purchase reaches $100 and above. It’s on a bit higher qualifying price range but I guess it’s fine considering the fine details of this set and the limited-edition minifigure that comes with it. Expect this set to be in high demand once it is available in March, so I suggest that you plan your next LEGO purchase during these promo dates.
