When Disney released Toy Story 3 back in 2010, it seemed like the fitting end of a film series in line with its themes: a teenager who once owned his beloved toys has grown past his need of them, but gets to entrust his treasures to another owner who will look after them in the future. Then again, it’s Disney; they’d prefer that none of their franchises remain stagnant too long. So we have word that LEGO Toy Story 4 sets are coming in next year, slated to arrive ahead of the Disney sequel’s planned release.
It should be recalled that LEGO did much the same before the 2010 premiere of Toy Story 3, when it unloaded 15 sets and polybags based on places and events that took place over the entire film trilogy. Chances are, they’ll do the same for the upcoming 4th film, with a new collection of LEGO Toy Story 4 sets. The latest LEGO tie-ins for a Disney-Pixar animated film were the LEGO Juniors Incredibles 2 sets, which were released this June.

That said, this bit of news that came by way of Brick Fanatics remains, at this point, a rumor until The LEGO Group releases official information to confirm or debunk it. Toy Story 4 will premiere June 19, 2019 and will focus on a love story between Sheriff Woody and Bo Peep, who was conspicuously absent in Toy Story 3.
A new LEGO BrickHeadz duo will soon finally find their way from the MACUSA to your nearest local LEGO store. The new LEGO BrickHeadz Newt Scamander and Gellert Grindelwald (41631) dual-pack has been officially revealed via LEGO’s Facebookpage earlier today. Numbered #76 and #77 respectively, this dual-pack set comes in at 247 pieces and will retail for the same price of $19.99 like other previous LEGO BrickHeadz dual sets. In my opinion, these are one of the best LEGO BrickHeadz sets that I’ve seen so far, with a very accurate brick rendition of their hair and clothes while still retaining that particular BrickHeadz vibe.
It is a welcome surprise that the LEGO BrickHeadz Newt Scamander and Gellert Grindelwald (41631) set is slated for an early release of October 1, ahead of the film’s November 16 release. Check out LEGO’s press release for more information, courtesy of The Brothers Brick.

MCU’s post-Infinity War phase is now slowly unfolding, and what best way to do so with the introduction of the film franchise’s first solo, cosmic powered heroine. Avengers: Infinity War gave us our first official teaser of her eventual involvement in the events following the infamous Thanos Snap, and this time, Entertainment Weekly has now shared exclusive images of Captain Marvel in all her galactic glory.
EW also revealed some key plots of the film without being too spoilery. According to their report, Captain Marvel will not begin with the usual origin-story, but will show her already powered and suited up for her mission together with the Kree elite military group, Starforce. Think of them like a high-powered, intergalactic Special Forces. I can’t help but think and be amused on how they stand in contrast with the rowdy bunch of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Several characters were also revealed such as the megalomaniac, Ronan the Accuser, who was once a highly respected ranking officer of the Kree society during the events of Captain Marvel. We also see Korath once more, and a new enigmatic character played by Jude Law. He is introduced as Starforce’s commander and will serve as a sort of mentor to Captain Marvel as she comes to terms with her newly acquired super powers. We also get to glimpse the film’s antagonists which are the highly dangerous and skilled shape-shifting Skrulls.

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the reveal is the digitized younger version of Nick Fury (played by Samuel L. Jackson), with the missing eye patch during his younger years in S.H.I.E.L.D. Perhaps the events in Captain Marvel will reveal how he eventually earned his famous battle scar to become one of the agency’s most revered operative.

I’m quite positive that LEGO has already something in the works in line with Captain Marvel, and like any other LEGO Marvel Superhero sets, we will surely be getting one or two tie-in sets to celebrate the release of the film. Captain Marvel’s minifigure version will surely be a hit, especially if the designers manage to capture her blue and red costume pretty well. It is also fair to assume that we will be having the Ronan the Accuser back with a new minifigure iteration, together with a patch-less and younger version of Nick Fury. It’s also interesting to see how the Skrull will look like since this may require a new minifigure head mould. Though we don’t have our first official teaser trailer yet, we can be assured that before the year ends and before Captain Marvel debuts on the big screen on March 8, 2019 we will have a better look on how MCU’s most powerful superhero will play her role culminating in the events of Infinity War’s End Game. And of course, the LEGO sets that will go along with it.

After confirming that the LEGO Harry Potter Bricktober 2018 minifigures will be made available in the US via Barnes & Noble, it seems that LEGO is now teasing on where we can expect the rest of this highly collectible minifigures. We know that these annual releases are usually available in Toys R Us before the toy retail giant closed all its stores in the US, UK, and Australia last June. Many LEGO fans were anxious then on whether the LEGO Bricktober minifigure promotions will still run in spite of TRU’s demise. But thankfully, LEGO still has something in store and the release of the official LEGO Bricktober 2018 images a few weeks ago has confirmed that we will still have our usual LEGO Bricktober minifigs soon.
A LEGO customer service email shared via social media seems to suggest that we will not need to look far and wide to find our share of these minifigs. According to an Instagram post that is now making its rounds across the LEGO community, LEGO’s costumer service has confirmed that the LEGO Bricktober 2018 minifigures will available in US LEGO stores this November and December. To quote,
“The Bricktober promotions will be available through the LEGO stores throughout November and December. This is the only information we have to share at this time. Please keep an eye out for more information.”
Well, I guess we should better start calling this Brickvember and Brickcember for that matter.
We should bear in mind that even if LEGO’s customer service email seems to have confirmed the availability of the LEGO Bricktober 2018 minifigures in local LEGO stores, it will still be wise to consider this as a rumor. In the past, LEGO’s customer service and their social media managers were a bit off the mark when it comes to accurately telling when and how new LEGO sets will be released.
We’re also not sure as of the moment if this will be a future store promotional of some kind. And since the LEGO Store October Calendar has already been released, and there was no mention of any Bricktober promos, then we have to probably wait for the November Store Calendar to be released next month. The LEGO Shop@Home portal is also mum about these LEGO Bricktober 2018 minifigs as of this writing. My best guess is that it may be a part of a Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal in November. Whatever the case, we will soon find out.
It has been almost a year since the canceled LEGO Dimensions theme was upon us. This sad end for a beloved theme was officially announced by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.
Many forces were at play during this time which left the once booming toys-to-life genre eventually helpless against the tide of low consumer demand. The final wave of LEGO Dimensions sets, dubbed as Year 2 or Wave 9 titles, consists mainly of characters coming from Teen Titans GO!, the Powerpuff Girls, and the 80s comedy-horror icon, Beetlejuice. With the unfortunate cancellation and end of development for LEGO Dimensions, it now seems that any future sets that were rumored to be part of a Year 3 series are now eventually canned.
Is the Canceled LEGO Dimensions Theme Bound to Happen?
It was common knowledge among game developers and those who were closely working on developing future LEGO Dimensions packs, that the LEGO Group had already planned things, with projects that were actually in the middle of development before the unpopular decision from the LEGO Group came out.
Without the intention of showing disrespect to game developers or insensitivity towards the LEGO Dimensions community in general, toys-to-life authority, Bricks to Life, came up with a report that summarizes every intel that it gathered on what this canceled LEGO Dimensions Year 3 titles could have been. It is noteworthy to mention that the LEGO Group is not to be entirely blamed for the demise of this beloved theme. In general, it seems that the trend for the toys-to-life genre has now become a fad, suffering from a very steep downward spiral of interest from video gamers and collectors.
Again, we don’t intend to show any disrespect whatsoever, but as Bricks to Life puts it, “…thisis now nothing more than preserving history”. This rumor is speculative at its best, but as the report goes, is a result of a thorough collection of lists of franchises and properties coming from a whole assortment of sources: “bits of leftover code, secured LEGO licensing rights, plus bread crumb clues from people who worked on the game.”
True that LEGO is suspiciously quiet on this one, but with a bit of brick detective work, Bricks to Life managed to gather as much info on what could be a highly likely wave of what-could-have-been collection of canceled LEGO Dimensions sets.
The canceled LEGO Dimension theme has plenty of potential. And it is even more disheartening to consider that we will never get to see a ton of new characters that is suppose to receive the same treatment.
We will roughly categorize this into four types, based on the target audience that these rumored sets could have intended. Remember: please take this list of supposedly canceled LEGO Dimensions Year 3 titles as plainly as it is, a rumor. Unless the LEGO Group confirms this, then please take this with a grain of salt.

If you still remember back in May, we reported on two LEGO Star Wars collectible minifigures that were released back then as a promotional in connection to the release of the Star Wars Han Solo film. Following the likes of other collectible minifigures that were launched together with previous Star Wars films, the LEGO Star Wars Kessel Mine Worker (40299) and a version of Solo in disguise as a Mimban Mudtrooper or the LEGO Star Wars Han Solo Mudtrooper (40300), are now next in line as the theme’s promotional CMF. We also noted back then that these were supposed to be Toys R Us-related freebies, but since TRU’s closure and unfortunate demise, we were left hanging on when and where these minifigs will arrive in the US. It also seems that Europe has the better end of these promotional deals since the sighting of Han Solo Mudtrooper (40300) in the LEGOLAND Store in Germany.
But thanks to the recently released LEGO Store October 2018 store calendar, we now know for sure that the Han Solo Mudtrooper (40300) collectible minifigure will now land in LEGO Stores in the US and at shop.LEGO.com this October.
From October 1 to 14, any purchase of LEGO Star Wars sets worth $35 and above will entitle you to this free collectible Han Solo Mudtrooper minifig. This offer is valid only during the dates mentioned above or while supplies last. This particular collectible joins the ranks of other previous Star Wars collectible minifigures such as DJ (40298) from The Last Jedi, the Scarif Stormtrooper (40176) and R3-M2 (40268) both from Rogue One.
In the aftermath of the disintegrating conclusion to Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War on cinemas this past April, among the plentiful LEGO tie-in items that came out was a polybag for a minifigure keychain of Teen Groot (5005244). It’s been available at LEGO Stores and shop.LEGO.com (via May promo) since. Now, Infinity War has also been available for digital download since the end of July and on DVD/Blu-Ray since the middle of this month. But UK store chain Sainsbury’s isn’t releasing their home media for the film until September 3 next month, and it comes with a nice surprise: a FREE Teen Groot minifigure key chain that LEGO fans will surely welcome.
Long story short, Sainsbury’s shoppers who would purchase Avengers: Infinity War on DVD, Blu-Ray and Ultra HD Blu-Ray will receive a free Teen Groot minifigure key chain (5005244). That’s another means of acquiring a representation of the heroic (and sadly doomed) adolescent talking tree before Avengers 4 arrives 2019.
Aside from this upcoming Infinity War home media promo, Sainsbury’s is still in the middle of its ongoing promo period for the second wave of LEGO collectible cards for the new Create the World line “Incredible Inventions”. All in all, the UK store chain’s shaping up to be a great place to get some peripheral LEGO products such as these.
Exactly a month ago, we first looked at one of LEGO’s closely guarded secrets from the LEGO Star Wars The Last Jedi theme. There were mixed reactions when the first images of the LEGO Star Wars Porg (75230) started to come in, ranging from absolutely adorable to downright horrific. This avian-inspired build is perhaps the most polarized LEGO Star Wars set, probably next to the Assault on Hoth (75098) UCS set released in 2016. Regardless if you find yourself spending your hard-earned cash for the LEGO Star Wars Porg or would instead turn your eyes and walk away from it, we still don’t have information on its exact release date until today. Thanks again to LEGO Store Budapest; we now have details on when the LEGO Star Wars Porg will most likely be released. If you recall, the LEGO Store in Budapest was also at the front lines in announcing the release date of the LEGO Creator Expert Aston Martin DB5 (10262) set last July. As announced on their website, the LEGO Store Budapest will accept pre-orders for the LEGO Star Wars Porg (75230) beginning October 1.
The Budapest LEGO Store will accept pre-orders via its website until September 28 or until supplies last. Furthermore, the site also mentions that the LEGO Star Wars Porg will be released to the public on October 8, which will likely be the same with other LEGO brand stores globally and at shop.LEGO.com. If this is the case, then we can expect an official press release from LEGO any time soon. The LEGO Star Wars Porg (75230) is said to come in at 811 pieces and will retail in the US for $69.99. This piece of news has been floating around for quite some time already, and in case you missed this, or more specifically the retailer exclusive LEGO Star Wars Imperial AT-Hauler (30498) polybag, then you still have this chance of building one of your own. This particular polybag comes as the second polybag offering belonging under the LEGO Star Wars Solo subtheme following the likes of the similarly packaged Imperial TIE Fighter (30381). However this mini version of the Imperial AT-Hauler seems to be a Walmart exclusive in the US and is now currently out of stock via Walmart’s website.
The LEGO Star Wars Imperial AT-Hauler (30498) comes in at 49 pieces and is relatively easy to build, thanks to the polybag’s building instruction now uploaded at the LEGO customer service portal. This mini version of the Imperial AT-Hauler comes with the usual LEGO pieces that you may already have at home save perhaps for the reddish brown Technic rotor 2 blades and the 1×2 plates with horizontal snap. Though the LEGO Star Wars Imperial AT-Hauler (30498) polybag is now out of stock and nowhere to be found at other major online retailer portals, there has been some rumor circulating that this polybag might turn out to be the next LEGO Star Wars promotional in relation to the slated release of the LEGO Star Wars Betrayal at Cloud City (75222) on September 13. This is speculative as of the moment but it will be nice if LEGO can offer this directly to consumers both in-store and online. Being a fan of these LEGO polybags, I’m really looking forward to seeing this in my local LEGO store and to add this to my polybag collection. For now, let me see if I can build this thing.
