1:1 Scale LEGO Ferrari Promotes Upcoming Attraction at LEGOLAND California

It took some doing, but now news of the COVID pandemic has been mostly relegated to the back-burner. With the improvement of conditions barring new strains, the world is powering back to some normalcy. And what better way to confirm this than seeing public attractions like theme parks back in full swing? That includes LEGOLAND parks across the world, with many hyping new spectacles as they’re built, sometimes LEGO-literally. Motor-headed fans are sure to love 1:1 scale LEGO-brick recreations of famous cars by pro design-build teams. One such vehicle is even now promoting an upcoming attraction over at LEGOLAND California.

According to The Brick Fan, LEGOLAND California in Carlsbad has unveiled a life-sized LEGO Ferrari F40 as an interactive attraction. It was made out of over 358,000 LEGO elements by a design team working over 3,000 hours (development-building). The 1:1 brick-car will promote the soon-to-open LEGO Ferrari Build and Race attraction on LEGOLAND California, this May 12. Being an interactive display, visitors will be able to sit inside for photo-ops. It looks forward to the Build and Race area, where LEGO fans can brick-build their dream supercars. Then they could test their creations and race their LEGO Ferraris digitally against one another, in pure fun.

While not mobile like the LEGO Bugatti Chiron years ago, this Ferrari F40 in LEGOLAND California’s still pretty cool. At the very least it’s more realistic than the dragon-taxi promoting LEGOLAND NY last 2021. This attraction skews more to the AFOL scale of LEGO fandom, which is quite considerate too. Park-goers can look ahead to May 12 to check out LEGO Ferrari Build and Race.

Jules Verne’s Nautilus Hits 10-K Support for LEGO Ideas First 2022 Review

The LEGO Ideas First 2022 Review Stage has run for nearly a third of said year by now. In terms of submissions, this batch of aspiring sets awaiting review has swelled to 39 product ideas total. And we have to say these are the most thematically-diverse entries yet to secure 10,000 supporters. You’ve heard this song and dance many times before since late January, so let’s move on. The 39th product idea to grave First 2022 Review is a public-domain IP. It may not be generally-appealing beyond “classical” literature fans, but it boasts intricate mechanics.

ideas seb e nautilus 1

Here we have “Jules Verne’s Nautilus” as interpreted by LEGO Ideas 10K Club Member Seb_E. His work depicts the titular submarine from the aforementioned author’s pioneering sci-fi novel “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.” The buildable submarine set comes with a stand designed as the seafloor with Atlantean ruins, plus a gigantic squid encounter.

ideas seb e nautilus 3

Interior-wise, the Nautilus fits plenty of creature comforts for its minifigure crew. We have Captain Nemo and his First Mate, alongside passengers Professor Arronax, Conseil and Ned Land. With an articulated kraken plus easily accessible insides, Jules Verne’s Nautilus won’t get in the way of fun play.

ideas seb e nautilus 4

This submission certainly earned its 10-K support milestone, joining 38 others on LEGO Ideas’ First 2022 Review Stage. It’ll be an uphill battle given its predecessors on this batch. But any LEGO collector who reads Verne will want to see this become an official set.

Creator 3-in-1 Viking Ship (31132) Images Found in LEGO Building Instructions App

A while ago, we mentioned upcoming LEGO sets appearing in the LEGO.com Building Instructions portal before getting official listings. It turns out that alternate venue of getting product info before being listed goes even deeper. LEGO’s Building Instructions service has since expanded into an actual downloadable mobile app. Available on App Store and Google Play, LEGO Building Instructions has become mobile for on-the-go LEGO-building reference. And yes, some new sets awaiting official launch have been found through the app. The best part about it would be the quality images of these products, as Brick Fanatics will attest with this news.

31132

It turns out that the mobile app LEGO Building Instructions has an entry for a new Creator 3-in-1 set. This would be the wordy Viking Ship and the Midgar Serpent, numbered 31132. This is the long-rumored throwback to the LEGO Vikings theme, with a shout-out to Norse Mythology as an extra. In addition to building both Viking longship and sea serpent, the set can make the Fenris wolf or Viking hall. All the creature builds are poseable, while the longship and Viking hall are full of detailed features. The set also comes with buildable figures and several minifigs, including one with a new headpiece design.

31132 2

While not official, information from recent online catalog and European retailer listings price Viking Ship (31132) at €119.99 possibly. There’s also the possibility of this item coming out June 1 like the new LEGO City train sets. All that will have to wait until an official product announcement from LEGO.

May the 4th LEGO Star Wars GWPs Revealed

April 2022 has just about run its course, and we’ve got new LEGO stuff to look forward to. While that primarily lies in the new sets launching come May 1, they’re not the only things to look out for. Mere days later, we’ve got a prime period for LEGO Star Wars collectors. In light of the franchise’s “May the 4th” celebration, LEGO’s springing for some cool collectibles as part of the fun. What can we expect? A polybag’s rather obvious. There might even be a non-brick item too. But an event-exclusive set’s something to shoot for. LEGO’s got all these.

Stone Wars from Germany has just given us a lowdown on the LEGO Star Wars May the 4th 2022 GWPs. The prime item for this batch of sets would be a diorama of a “Star Wars Episode IV” location. That would be the Kitchen (40531) of Luke Skywalker’s Tatooine home, with a minifigure of his Aunt Beru. If you’re a “Mandalorian” fan you can try for a keychain with a Beskar tag (5007403). Finally, if you’re not spending much on LEGO Star Wars, you can at least grab an AT-ST (30495) polybag. All items are featured on LEGO.com Shop now:

Lars Family Homestead Kitchen (40531)

Age 18+ | 195 pieces | 1 minifigure | worth $19.99 | get for minimum $160 LEGO Star Wars purchase

40531

The Mandalorian Beskar Key Chain (5007403)

Age 6+ | worth $15.99 | LEGO VIP Exclusive, get for minimum $70 LEGO Star Wars purchase

5007403

AT-ST polybag (30495)

These GWPs are up for grabs from May 1 to 8, so collectors have enough time. May the 4th be with you on Star Wars Day 2022.

New Pics, Info for Upcoming LEGO City Freight Train (60336)

Even if a new LEGO set you know is coming doesn’t have an official LEGO.com product listing yet, don’t fret. Perhaps some retailer might reveal it in advance. But maybe LEGO.com already has info on that upcoming item beyond just the product listing. There have been times when the Building Instructions page gets info on LEGO sets early too, with images even. This has happened this week with an upcoming LEGO City train set. It even included nice images of the product that has been shared before LEGO’s official announcement.

This juicy bit of info comes to us courtesy of German LEGO new source Promobricks. To wit, they got image of the upcoming LEGO City Freight Train (60336). This is one of three locomotive-related LEGO City sets primed to launch in June. The pictures even come with set data and European pricing too. Here’s a closer look at the set, plus its pertinent product info:

60336 1

Freight Train is part of a new batch of loco LEGO City sets coming out this year. The other two are a new Train Station (60335) and Passenger Express (60337). While we got images for Freight Train (60336) first, it’ll be Passenger Express that’ll be reliably available on wide retail. At least that’s what Promobricks reports. Apparently Freight Train and Train Station may only be guaranteed available via LEGO.com Shop. We’re going to need clarification on this and hope LEGO gives us an official reveal/product listing soon.

German Retailer Lists Multiple Upcoming LEGO Sets Including Optimus Prime (10302), More Ninjago

Through thick and thin, LEGO strives to maintain a regular product release schedule year in and out. And while the best source on set launches would be LEGO themselves, sometimes retailers would jump the gun. These early announcements can contain the most exciting LEGO set notices, which we must wait for until confirmed or debunked. Last February we caught wind of a LEGO set for a mega-franchise from fellow toy giant Hasbro. Who could imagine a LEGO-Hasbro collaboration to make LEGO Transformers? That rumor, plus other LEGO items, just got their advance product reveal courtesy of an online German retailer.

The Brick Fan tells us that some upcoming LEGO sets now grace the online listings of Wagner’s in Germany. This listing includes the aforementioned long-rumored LEGO Optimus Prime (10302), from Hasbro’s “Transformers.” Not your thing? How about tie-ins for James Cameron’s “Avatar” particularly the sequel arriving late this year? We also have early mentions of the expected 2022 Advent Calendars, if you collect those. LEGO Marvel Attack on New Asgard (76207) Revealed Shortly After “Thor: Love and Thunder” Teaser

If you’re an MCU fan and keep up to date, the start of this week must’ve been awesome for you. After all, the first big teaser for “Thor: Love and Thunder” just came out. At last the promise of Jane Foster becoming Thor like in Marvel Comics during the 2010s is being fulfilled. And to sweeten the deal especially for LEGO collectors, the tie-in sets have been hyped recently. They’ve also been a nice source of spoilers for the upcoming MCU movie’s plot. One of them, Attack on New Asgard, has been around in certain outlets since March. Now, LEGO’s got a listing for it.

As told by Brick Fanatics, there’s now an official LEGO.com product listing for Attack on New Asgard (76207). This is one of the upcoming LEGO Marvel tie-ins for “Thor: Love and Thunder.” Much like several other LEGO sets lately, it’s shown up in other stores before LEGO’s official reveal. Fortunately, the official launch date is within this month at least. Attack on New Asgard (76207) is a battle-scene set giving us good looks at the film characters. Thor and his one-time GF Jane Foster, now the Mighty Thor, both look good. Main baddie Gorr the God-Butcher and that buildable monster come across as menacing too.

And now, we have the official listing details right here:

Attack on New Asgard (76207)

Age 7+ | 159 pieces | 3 minifigures | $19.99 | Coming April 26

76207 alt1

Just so you know, “Thor: Love and Thunder” stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Christian Bale. They play Thor, Jane/Mighty Thor and Gorr respectively, as depicted in the set above. This MCU blockbuster premieres on July 8.

LEGO Muppets Collectible Minifigures (71033) Officially Listed, Coming May 1

Collectors will never be unexcited by a new batch of LEGO Collectible Minifigures (CMFs). Beyond just populating LEGO play-sets, the minifigs themselves can show lots of character, especially if they’re part of a theme. Case in point, CMF aficionados have been on tenterhooks waiting for the LEGO Muppets Collectible Minifigures (71033). We’ve caught wind of rumors to that effect in October last year. The sweet roster of Muppet characters to be depicted there was too good to pass up. And now, LEGO has definitively confirmed its latest collectible minifigure series with an official product listing.

LEGO.com finally listed the new LEGO The Muppets Minifigures (71033), and “finally” needs to be stressed, given that other stores and online retailers have been offering the batch for weeks now. Such as what we’re offering right now at our storefront, The Brick Show Shop.

LEGO Lists Tie-In Sets for Disney-Pixar’s “Lightyear”

All the way from the first “Toy Story” film in 1995, fans have been fascinated with Buzz Lightyear’s backstory. We knew he was an action figure based on a hit sci-fi franchise according to Disney and Pixar. They initially conceived the franchise as an in-universe TV show that the “Toy Story” characters watched. Disney-Pixar’s “Buzz Lightyear of Star Command” premiered as a direct-to-video release and animated series in 2000-01. Since 2021 however, they’ve been hyping a new take on the Buzz mythos, with the upcoming CGI film “Lightyear.” And as with major Disney media, LEGO has tie-in sets arriving soon.

Brickset tells us that LEGO’s listed at least three LEGO tie-ins for Disney-Pixar’s “Lightyear,” premiering in mid-2022. In keeping with the more “realistic” designs from the upcoming movie, the upcoming sets feature pretty spiffy tech-builds. We’re looking forward to seeing Buzz and his fellow Space Rangers fight towering robots and flying hyper-spacecraft. Check out some of these official product details:
