Massive LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Express (76405) Officially Launched

Without a doubt, the best and maybe largest LEGO sets may be found in the mid-triple-digits price range. These massive masterpieces can range from a doomed ocean liner to a “Star Wars” Imperial war machine. And though their prices limit purchases mostly to AFOLs, these premium sets tend to be enjoyable for whole LEGO families. Look no further than the latest big LEGO Harry Potter set: Hogwarts Express (76405). At near $500 a pop, it’s a major investment for one’s LEGO collection. But with the fairly-recent LEGO Harry Potter 20th anniversary, buyers will certainly lap it up. Even more so now that it’s officially launched.

As told by The Brick Fan, LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Express (76405) is now available on LEGO Shop. The $499.99 set price is well worth it considering what one gets. Not only is the Hogwarts Express train depicted, but also Platform 9¾ and plenty of rail. The set also boasts an impressive 20 minifigures as passengers or well-wishers. And it all comes with a King’s Cross Station Platform 9¾ train ticket collectible. Hogwarts Express (76405) proves that more epic LEGO Harry Potter sets are still coming beyond its 20-year milestone.

LEGO BrickHeadz Harry Potter Professors of Hogwarts (40560) Officially Revealed

Even today, the Wizarding World created by J.K. Rowling and adapted into a film by Warner Bros. remains an active franchise. Last mid-April even saw the premiere of “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.” This prequel continues chronicling the Wizarding World’s saga leading to World War II and the rise of Dark Lord Grindelwald. But for many fans of the franchise, the original “Harry Potter” books/films remain the best. It can be seen perhaps in the continuing parade of merchandise for the adventures of Harry Potter in Hogwarts. For example, LEGO just revealed a massive upcoming four-character set in the likes of the LEGO BrickHeadz Harry Potter Professors of Hogwarts (40560) set.

LEGO.com now lists the LEGO BrickHeadz “HP”-related Professors of Hogwarts set (40560). Indeed, four Hogwarts faculty members from the Potter-verse have been translated into adorable BrickHeadz form. We have wise Professor McGonagall, nasty Professor Snape, crazy-cool but mysterious Professor Moody, and frizzled Professor Trelawney. Moody’s weird left eye features are among the unique BrickHeadz elements to get in this set. You thought twofer LEGO BrickHeadz sets were big? Professors of Hogwarts (40560) is double even that. LEGO Shop hasn’t specified what date of this year it’ll come out, but it’s soon. Check this out.

Some of them weren’t even launching with the massive bunch on New Year’s Day, but later on. While the catalog preview was nice, they don’t quite match the official air of a LEGO.com product listing. And it just so happens that the online LEGO Shop has started putting up those catalog items this week. We’re going to delve into these reveals now. LEGO Harry Potter’s Summer 2022 Set Numbers Rumor

It can be really amazing when one looks at the scope of how many new sets LEGO rolls out yearly. Last week we got a peek at some upcoming items for 2022 in a Germany-released product catalog. Among those LEGO sets for next year are new additions to the “Harry Potter” theme line. But those products are only the ones earmarked for an early-2022 launch. Did you think that was all the LHP for the coming year? There are more Wizarding World wonders to come beyond what that German LEGO catalog showed us. A German LEGO news source tells so.

Promobricks would have it that nine new LEGO Harry Potter sets are sure to arrive in summer 2022. No names were given from their source, only the set numbers and possible pricing (US$). From the prices however, Promobricks hypothesizes a potential 2022 Advent Calendar and one direct-to-consumer (D2C) set. That latter possibility draws from the fact that it’s supposed to cost $469.99 like other D2C LEGO products. Further theorizing on their end posits that this 3-digit set might be an addition to last year’s Diagon Alley (75978). In any case, here are the possible LEGO Harry Potter sets next summer:

  • 76400 – $ 19.99
  • 76401 – $ 49.99
  • 76402 – $ 79.99
  • 76403 – $ 99.99
  • 76404 (Advent Calendar 2022?) – $ 44.99
  • 76405 (D2C?) – $ 469.99
  • 76406 – $ 49.99
  • 76407 – $ 89.99
  • 76408 – $ 119.99

Note the set numbers are 764xx, contrasting the earlier set releases numbered 7639x. Then again, without official word from LEGO we must first regard this info as rumor. Let’s wait and hope for their confirmation to follow.

German LEGO Catalog: 2022 LEGO Harry Potter Sets

The LEGO 2022 set reveals train has no breaks. It’s been pretty much what we’ve been covering over the past several days beyond occasional 10-K LEGO Ideas submissions. Many of them have been official unveilings, complete with LEGO.com product listings. Now, more cool stuff is made known to us, in print, over in Europe. Germany has had the sublime honor of having an advance catalog detailing more of next year’s upcoming LEGO sets. These ones will launch much later than the January 1 product blitz. Now we get to see what’s in store, courtesy of German LEGO news source Promobricks.

Due to multiple LEGO themes being involved, we’ve decided to split the features as such. Our first subject will be LEGO Harry Potter. Their upcoming sets continue the celebration of the franchise’s 20 years with LEGO. So far the reveal includes a Hogwarts modular set and two Hogwarts Moment book-shaped sets. In a way this confirms rumors about LHP releases from September. The following are scans of the products, with set info and price conversions:

Big Reveal for LEGO Harry Potter – Hogwarts Magical Trunk (76399) Coming March 2022

You know what’s coming: another LEGO reveal for a set launching next year, though not January 1st for a change. This is for a major licensed-IP theme too. LEGO Harry Potter has been riding the wave of its 20th anniversary loud and proud. Surely the sets coming out in the following year will not drop the hype. Judging from this teaser video on LEGO’s Facebook found by The Brick Fan, signs are very good. Some LHP sets emphasize color variability so builders can show off their Hogwarts House allegiances. The upcoming Hogwarts Magical Trunk (76399) follows this color variation tradition.

We’ve seen variations of the LEGO play-set that folds up and stores all pieces and minfigures. Some of those sets appear as books or, in the Disney Encanto set tie-ins, magical doors. LEGO Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Magical Trunk (76399) instead takes after the ubiquitous travelling case of many Hogwarts students. It contains tiles and accessories to style the trunk as belonging to a Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff or Slytherin. Also inside are six minifigs, five of which, including Harry, have swappable parts. Finally, props and furnishings enable builders to create various diorama scenes (Sorting, Feast, and Common Room) from the movies.

Thus far, only LEGO.com UK has a product listing up:

76399 alt1

Hogwarts Magical Trunk (76399)

603 pieces | 6 minifigures | £54.99

76399 alt10

  • Unlock the creative magic! – LEGO® Harry Potter™ Hogwarts™ Magical Trunk (76399) is packed with buildable features and minifigures from the Harry Potter movies for kids to create and customize
  • A trunk full of fun – The trunk contains furniture that magically reconfigures, accessories from the movies and an assortment of minifigure parts that kids can combine to create different characters
  • Authentic accessories – The Sorting Hat, potions, a cauldron, a potion-making book, the Marauder’s Map, Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans™, The Quibbler, goblets, cookies, a chessboard and an owl
  • Customize and personalize – Kids can build up to 5 minifigures, create completely new characters and adapt and combine different building elements to bring their Hogwarts™ adventures to life
  • Recreate classic scenes – There are also 3 memorable moments from the movies to build and roleplay: the Sorting Ceremony; a Great Hall feast; and the Common Room

76399 alt5 76399 alt6 76399 alt7 76399 alt8

Like we said, this is not a January 1, 2022 release. Expect the Hogwarts Magical Trunk (76399) to come out on the first of March instead.

Gryffindor Dorms (40452) GWP Still On Until November 19

It feels like only yesterday at times, when LEGO Harry Potter collectors thought they missed out on a GWP. That October 2021 LEGO Store calendar offered two LEGO Harry Potter items as GWPs. The key set of the two was Hogwarts – Gryffindor Dorms (40452). It was a modular set that also doubled as a display space for Wizarding World tiles. These were included in all 20th Anniversary LEGO HP sets. But as it stood, the GWP period for Gryffindor Dorms (40452) ran from October 25 to November 7. That was despite being “removed” from the second October store calendar. At least, that was the GWP period before it came back.

40452 1

Brick Fanatics tells us that LEGO’s online store has brought back LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts – Gryffindor Dorms (40452). That’s great news for those who missed it as a GWP. It would be like the promo period never stopped. Collectors now have until November 19 to claim this nice little set featuring Harry and Ron in their rooms. The deal remains the same too. LEGO Harry Potter purchases over $100 (also £ and €) will net you the Gryffindor Dorms (40452). As far as GWP goes, this is one of the best among the recent offerings.

LEGO Ideas Harry Potter 20th Anniversary Contest Announces Winners

Way back in September, LEGO Ideas held one of its biggest contests yet .It was a LEGO Harry Potter competition in celebration of the line’s 20th anniversary.  Participants were invited to create a commemorative “Harry Potter” build with the number “20” located/hidden in their work. This contest saw plenty of submissions, but there can be only one winner and a couple of runners-up. While the entry phase ended in October 6, judging still took up the better part of a month. But finally, the LEGO Ideas staff has made their decision. We’re sure you probably agree with their choices too.

As revealed on their contest winner announcement, the grand prize went to LEGO Ideas 10-K member Ivan “bulldoozer” Guerrero. The creative mind behind LEGO Ideas Sesame Street (21324) created “Legacy,” depicting Harry before the Mirror of Erised. For your perusal:

lhp20 legacy buldoozer

The runners-up presented a common theme for many entries on this LEGO Ideas contest: Hogwarts Castle. Gitto-Negron Workshop gave a creative twist to the motif in their “HP20 – Magical Cabinet of Characters” as seen below:

lhp20 magicalcabinet gnw

PedroPRS.AFOL meanwhile submitted a straight castle micro-scale build with a number-20 flag on the steeple. He calls his creation “Hogwarts is My Home,” like so:

Buldoozer got to receive the most recent LEGO Harry Potter 20th anniversary sets as Grand Prize. Gitto-Negron Workshop and PedroPRS.AFOL for their parts won Hogwarts Icons – Collector’s Edition (76391) and some Limited Edition Minifigures (6232944).
