LEGO Creator Vespa (40517) Joins Expert Version (10298) in Listing

Whenever LEGO sets we first learn of as rumors and speculations are officially announced, we can’t help but feel relieved. After all, the suspenseful wait, learning if a revealed set is true, might end with a product listing. There’s also the matter of whether the advance info was accurate, or if it meant something else. Anyway, the period of uncertainty about the LEGO Creator Expert Vespa (10298) is over as of this weekend. There’s still one part of the initial product rumor that must be addressed however. But that too has become moot with the latest LEGO shop listing.

The Brick Fan tells us that the miniature Vespa (40517) initially rumored alongside the big version is officially listed. Compared to its Creator Expert version (10298), the 40517 edition is obviously small. And yet it captures the distinctive design contours and aesthetics of the Vespa scooter series. Sure it has no rear basket or other accessories, but the vehicle itself is as sweet build. Of course, we’ve known this since the reveal of the set in that January 2022 “group picture.” With its size dimensions, one might be able to pose a LEGO buildable figure set to ride it, even.

But we’re rambling. Here’re some of the official details for the Creator Vespa (40517). Note that it will be launching at the same time as the Creator Expert set (10298).

Rumored LEGO Creator Vespa Seen in Creator High-Speed Train (40518) Rare Promo Image?

You’ve got to love sometimes how retailers sometimes reveal LEGO’s hand before any official product announcements. Towards the end of last month, last year, we got European retailers listing possible LEGO sets in advance. They might be “expected” sets like an alleged upcoming LEGO Marvel buildable character model. Or they might be all-new products from a licensed IP that LEGO hasn’t done before, like “Horizon Zero Dawn.” In any case, these super-early “reveals” are great even if we must consider them rumors prior to official LEGO updates. Speaking of which, we have another one, updating from earlier rumors from late 2021.

Brickset reports that a possible image for a long-rumored LEGO Creator Vespa set appeared in promo images of another set. Said images came from the Creator High-Speed Train (40518), seen first in Hungarian online retailer Kocka. Note that a Creator Vespa set rumored to become a GWP was numbered 40517, one digit off. The image showed a red brick-built Vespa alongside the High-Speed Train and past Creator sets. The Creator London Bus (40220) is there alongside Creator Yellow Taxi (40468) and Tuk Tuk (40469). It looks like a LEGO Creator public transport set showcase. Said image also doesn’t appear in 40518’s official listing.

But if Creator High-Speed Train (40518) is already listed, what about this red Vespa, potentially GWP set 40517? Did LEGO postpone or cancel it similar to their latest Marvel Mech Armors? We could certainly use some clarifications, especially considering there’s another rumored Vespa set. Regarding the larger, potentially Creator Expert Vespa (10298), we heard no further speculation. At least for the moment, the January 1 LEGO product launch blitz isn’t making collectors miss much.

LEGO Creator Skiing Santa Still Active In-Store GWP in UK, Europe Until Dec. 24

When it came to special offers in the vein of GWPs, the December 2021 LEGO Store Calendar was…sparse. Only one item was listed there, and only available in-store instead of online. That would be a Creator polybag with the figure of a jolly Skiing Santa Claus (30580). It could be earned free for every in-store LEGO purchase over $40, from December 1 to 14. Well, that promo period has come and gone since last week, at least in the US. As Brick Fanatics tells it however, Skiing Santa Claus is still around in Europe. And he’s staying until Christmas Eve.

Indeed, it can be seen as such in the Offers & Sale page of for GB. Creator Skiing Santa Claus (30580) remains active in-store GWP not just in the UK but Europe too. As with the now-ended US edition, the buildable figure polybag is earned with in-store LEGO purchases over 40. That’s in pounds or euros depending on where. It also goes hand-in-hand with the full seasonal set Santa’s Front Yard (40484). This similarly long-running GWP goes for both in-store and online orders over £170/€170. Both it and Skiing Santa are available right until December 24, quite appropriate enough.

More 2022 LEGO Polybag Images Surface

Early this month, we covered the reveal of the first LEGO polybags noted to be coming next year. Already we at The Brick Show felt that this batch of 2022 polys would only be the tip of the iceberg. Indeed they were, even if that was barely a surprise. Small and simple as they are, multiple unique LEGO polybags can be churned out in a year. gives us word of these new reveals, courtesy of, a new price comparison platform. We’ve got multiple polybags under major LEGO themes unlike last time. There’s still no word however on which polybags will sell in-store and which are promo items only.

New LEGO Creator Flower: Sunflowers (40524) Now Revealed

Much has been said about the advantages of artificial flowers, such as the fact that they don’t wilt. Those who like having flowery decorative cheer but not the hassle of changing fresh blooms would understandably go plastic. But “regular” artificial flowers can also feel “just so” and nothing more. Why not see what LEGO has to offer? They’ve already released quite a selection of buildable blossoms, some of which look quite real and colorful. LEGO flower sets may be found across several theme lines. But this new one, according to The Brick Fan, is brought to us by LEGO Creator.

If you like sunflowers and enjoy building LEGO, then LEGO Creator Sunflowers (40524) might be just for you. This 191-piece set gives you enough to build a pair of these big bright blooms. And if you’ve gotten the previous Creator flower sets then you’re set to customize your own bouquets and arrangements. This is yet another January 1, 2022 product launch, so mark your calendars.

New LEGO Creator “Postcard” Sets Revealed for 2022

LEGO sets for the most part are classified by themes, whether LEGO originals or those from licensed IPs. Within those themes we might get sub-themes, sets in a line following distinctive build designs. These sub-themes could also pop up as new in one LEGO theme or other. For instance, LEGO Creator has given us the high-rebuild value 3-in-1 sets and the grown-up-geared Creator Experts. Now, as Brick Fanatics tells us, LEGO Creator is introducing a new decorative sub-theme. If you like the “skyline” sets from LEGO Architecture you might enjoy these artistic builds evocative of retro postcards. And that indeed is the Creator sub-theme’s name.

For your consideration, here are two sets of LEGO Creator’s Postcard series. In contrast to LEGO Architecture’s free-standing skylines, Creator Postcard has the structures come up as relief from their backgrounds. These sets shine nationalistic flavor too, with one depicting America’s Big Apple and the other, the capital of China:

If this is a new LEGO Creator set series, then the first two are promising indicators of what comes next. Catch these items among the myriad of LEGO product launches in the coming New Year.

November GWP: LEGO Creator Coffee Cart (40488)

With LEGO opting to leave their Black Friday announcements until later, we ended up with a sparse November store calendar. That just left us with one unique special offer, a miniature set that would go well with LEGO City-scapes. The LEGO Creator Coffee Cart (40488) is a small yet detailed kiosk with a prominent coffee motif. We have two structures here, the cart and a barrel-bottomed customer table. A barista and customer minifigures populate the set, the latter apparently having come up on a bicycle.

For builders looking for stickered elements (menu boards, tablet), buildable coffee-maker and another bike, this GWP is for you. And that big coffee-mug sign is LEGO Creator perfection. As we’ve detailed prior, the LEGO Creator Coffee Cart (40488) is a gift-with-purchase. Any purchases totaling $65 and up will net you this nice mini-set. The GWP runs from November 8 to the 14th, or while supplies last. It’s a nice appetizer for the big Black Friday deals to be revealed the day after on November 15.

Rumors Say Viking Longship Among Planned LEGO Creator Sets for 2022

LEGO Creator has had a fruitful, set-laden year for 2021. They released sets ranging from flowers to vehicles. There are the 3-in-1 sets that got the building imagination going. And lastly, the Creator Expert sets have been blowing lots of minds this year. Who can say no to more (detailed) vehicles and structures like FC Barcelona’s Camp Nou (10284)? This September, year 2021 comes to its home stretch. That means more LEGO set release news become frequently for next year. So it is that The Brick Fan is sharing what they heard is in store for LEGO Creator in 2022.

The details they got for the planned Creator sets include the names, numbers, number pieces, and (European) pricing. And some items don’t get all that info. For the Creator sets with number of pieces listed, none appear to be Creator Expert-sized. Of the remaining three, one is an Expert possibility (a building). Another seems to herald the return of a classic LEGO-original kiddie theme: Vikings. Of the rest, at least one seems fit to be a Creator 3-in-1. In fact, let’s not keep you readers waiting. Here are the supposed upcoming 2022 LEGO Creator sets:

  • Off-Road Buggy (31123) – 160 pieces, €14.99/$17.71
  • Super Mech (31124) – 159 pieces, €9.99/$11.80
  • Forest Mythical Creatures (31125) – 175 pieces, €14.99/$17.71 (betting this will be a 3-in-1)
  • Supersonic Jet (31126) – 215 pieces, €19.99/$23.61
  • Speedster (31127) – 258 pieces, €19.99/$23.61
  • Dolphin and Turtle (31128) – 137 pieces, €9.99/$11.80
  • Majestic Tiger (31129) – 755 pieces, €49.99/$59.05
  • Submarine (31130)
  • Townhouse/Noodle Shop (31131)
  • Viking Longship and Sea Serpent (31132) (return of LEGO Vikings, perhaps?)

So we have several vehicles, animals and a building up there. Pretty good rumors, if you ask me. And it would be great if they get confirmed by LEGO eventually. But until they are, keep your grain of salt handy.

LOOK: LEGO Creator 3-in-1 Summer 2021 Sets Revealed

This is a welcomed surprise. Because this next wave of LEGO Creator 3-in-1 summer 2021 offers a nostalgic return to some of our most beloved LEGO themes of all times. Revealed by Netherlands-based toy store, take a look at these 5 upcoming sets that take inspiration from the LEGO Space and Castle themes.

LEGO seems intentional in providing more and more LEGO sets that cater not just to the young, budding LEGO fan, but also to those that are looking forward to seeing their childhood favorites come back again. And though these LEGO 3-in-1 summer 2021 sets are intended for children 9 years old and up, I can see the immediate appeal that these sets have to the adult LEGO fan community.

As per Brickshop’s listing, these LEGO Creator 3-in-1 summer 2021 sets are scheduled to be released in June which means that we might see them appearing over at LEGO Shop@Home anytime soon. Let’s take a look at these images and product descriptions. Thanks to Stone Wars for the additional images.
