As LEGO began to roll out its wave ofnewsets this 2nd half of 2021, it is also expected that the company will begin clearing out from its shelves (both from its physical stores and online) several of its previous sets that are expected to reach its end of life very soon. Retiring LEGO sets are almost always of particular interest to the LEGO fan community, considering that most of us still have that one set that we are looking forward to ticking out from our LEGO must-have bucket list. And recently, Stone Wars have released a very comprehensive list of all the retiring LEGO sets that are expected to quietly exit or may have exited already, from LEGO stores and online, during the 1st half of this year.
The list of these retiring LEGO sets for H1 2021 is presented here. In case you’re interested, you may click on the following LEGO Shop@Home affiliate links below to check out their current availability. Some of these sets may be temporarily out of stock or tagged as already sold out as I’ve checked a while ago as of this posting. Nevertheless, it is still helpful to check if your expected LEGO set is still included in this listing.
Just a disclaimer though – like previously retired LEGO sets, this list is not 100% accurate considering how fast these retiring LEGO sets might sell out. So I encourage you to do a quick search over at LEGO Shop@Home. A huge thanks to Stone Wars once again for sharing and verifying this list.
The June 2021 LEGO Store Calendar has now been uploaded via LEGO’s servers and it looks like there’s plenty to expect at your local LEGO store at LEGO Shop@Home starting next week. The month of June marks the availability of most of LEGO’s H2 (or 2nd half of the year) offerings, and LEGO is throwing in a handful of promotional items as an incentive to tick that that next LEGO wishlist. Let’s take a look.
Offer valid from June 1 to June 30, 2021; in-store only.
It looks like Ninjago is now given the official BrickHeadz treatment, and the timing couldn’t be better. LEGO Ninjago now marks its 10th anniversary making it one of LEGO’s longest-running themes. And aside from the various exclusive LEGO Ninjago minifigures and sets that were announced to celebrate the occasion, LEGO is now throwing in its first BrickHeadz rendition of some of the most iconic characters of the theme. It is not exactly a freebie, but this 3-in-1 set comes in at a discounted price of $10 if you happen to have a single-receipt purchase of any LEGO Ninjago sets worth $85 and more from June 1 to June 30. Originally valued at $29.99, this BrickHeadz trio includes a rendering of Golden Lloyd, Nya Samurai X, and the Firstbourne Dragon. Please take note that this is an in-store offer, so better plan for your next LEGO Store visit.
Free LEGO Speed Champions McLaren Elva (30343) polybag
Offer valid from June 7 to June 20, 2021.
To celebrate the release of its larger cousin, the LEGO Speed Champions McLaren Elva (76902), LEGO is also throwing in a polybag for every single-receipt purchase of any LEGO set worth $40 or more, both in-store and online. You may also want to check out the next wave of LEGO Speed Champions to see what they have to offer.
Free LEGO Swing Ship Ride (5006748) for VIP Members
Offer valid for LEGO VIP members only from June 21 to 30, 2021.
Here’s a treat for LEGO VIP members. Any single-receipt, LEGO purchases worth $85 from June 21 to 30, 2021 will entitle you to this free LEGO Swing Ship Ride (5006748) set. We have little information about this freebie, especially about its piece count. But judging from its initial photos, we can see that the Swing Ship Ride comes on an 8×8 base that features a swing mechanism and a sticker that echoes LEGO’s founding principle of “LEG GODT” or “play well”. I’ll give you updates once more info comes in.
Free LEGO Blue VIP Keychain (854090)
Offer valid when you sign-up for the first time to become a LEGO VIP member. Promo runs from June 1 to December 31, 2021.
Throughout the second half of the year, LEGO is giving out the exclusive LEGO Blue VIP Keychain as an incentive for signing up as a LEGO VIP member. Its a great way to start your journey on great LEGO discounts, rewards, and other cool LEGO giveaways.
Free LEGO Bob Minion with Robot Arms (30387)
Offer valid from June 24 to July 11, 2021.
To mark the long-overdue release of Universal Pictures’ Minions: The Rise of Gru animated film, LEGO is also giving out incentives for those who will make their next LEGO Minions purchase. From June 24 to July 11, any single-receipt purchase of any LEGO Minions sets worth $40 will entitle you to this Bob Minion polybag. It’s a nice way to build your army of little yellow minions if you ask me.
I have to say that the offerings and promos listed in the June 2021 LEGO Store Calendar are pretty exciting. So be sure to check with LEGO Shop@Home for the latest and upcoming LEGO sets next month.

Images and other product info of the new LEGO Speed Champions summer 2021 sets are now available online. The news came in by way of product listings by German online retailer JB Spielwaren, providing us with a better look at these latest brick-built speedsters.
Back in February, we reported on the next batch of supercars that will be given the official LEGO treatment this summer. And as it turns out, it’s not that far-fetched. And similar to the LEGO City Summer 2021 sets, this batch of the latest Speed Champions is expected to be released sometime in June. Let’s take a closer look and let us know in the comments below which set will be a first-day buy for you.

Mopar Dodge//SRT Top Fuel Dragster and 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A (76904)
Following the rumor train regarding the upcoming LEGO Speed Champions 2021 sets scheduled to be released this summer, we now have our first look at one of these new brick-built speedsters in the form of the LEGO Speed Champions Mopar Dodge/SRT Top Fuel Dragster and 1970 Dodge Challenger (76904) set.
Shared by Reddit user Samurai_Happy, this first look at set 76904 confirms the rumored list of LEGO Speed Champions 2021 2H sets that went around a couple of months ago. According to the eagle-eyed LEGO fan, he spotted this set on display at a Target store in Washington but was eventually prohibited from purchasing it since it was marked for release in August. Personally, it is kind of absurd to have restrictions like this considering that this set was already placed on display. However, August could be a release date specifically for other retailers and we can still expect this new LEGO Speed Champions 2021 set to be released in June just in time for summer.
The LEGO Speed Champions Mopar Dodge/SRT Top Fuel Dragster and 1970 Dodge Challenger (76904) set clocks in at 627 pieces and is expected to retail for $49.99. It’s basically a dual-pack that features a pair of Dodge’s iconic vehicles highlighting its past and present legacies on the race track. As a fan of classic muscle cars, I am personally looking forward to this brick version of the 1970 Dodge Challenger. And though the LEGO Speed Champions has produced a great line of brick speedsters throughout the years, there is only a handful of brick-built classic muscle cars that were added to its theme. We have 2017’s 1966 Ford GT40 from set 75881, the LEGO Speed Champions 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback (75884), and 2019’s 1970 Dodge Charger R/T from set 75893. I just hope that the LEGO Group will eventually develop a subtheme for the LEGO Speed Champions line that is dedicated to this beloved genre of classic cars.
For now, be sure to keep an eye at LEGO Shop@Home, and here at our blog site for the latest LEGO news updates. Special thanks to Promobricks for the heads up.
In case you haven’t noticed, LEGO was quite mum at the start of this year regarding its plans of releasing its lineup of LEGO Speed Champions 2021 sets. It was obviously missing from its H1 2021 catalog and was not even mentioned in our list of expected sets for the first half of the year. This led to some speculations that LEGO might be pulling the plug for this long-running theme, worrying some fans that we might soon see the end for these mid-sized speedsters.
But thanks to new information from Promobricks, we can be assured that LEGO has not given up on the theme and is now expected to release its next wave of LEGO Speed Champions 2021 sets this summer. According to reports from brick street, it seems that LEGO had issues with its planned market launch due to the pandemic. But the sets are all ready to roll-out and we can expect several info and images to be out in the next couple of months. In the meantime, here’s what we know so far based on the brick intel gathered by our friends from Promobricks.
There is a total of six new LEGO Speed Champions 2021 sets that we can expect this June, with new models based on existing brands and a couple of dual-packs consisting of modern and classic speedsters. We don’t have official images as of the moment, but we can surely have an idea of what they are based on their set names and other specifics. The images of their real-life counterparts included here are just an approximation, and might be eventually different from the final LEGO Speed Champion sets that will be offered this summer.

There is another set labeled as 76905, and though we don’t have any further details about this except for its price point of $49.99, then we can perhaps expect this to be another dual-pack set similar to the previous 2 sets above. And considering that their release date is expected to be in June, we can assume that LEGO might be releasing these sets’ official info sometime in April. Be sure to stay tuned for more updates.
LEGO has just made a press release in Yokohama, Japan announcing the arrival of another LEGO Speed Champions set for 2020. The LEGO Speed Champions Nissan GT-R Nismo (76896) is the fifth set (and perhaps the last to be offered in 2020) announced for next year’s selection of brick speedsters. The venue for this official announcement couldn’t be more fitting since LEGO is now paying tribute to one of the most iconic Japanese supercars as the latter celebrates the 50th year of the Nissan GT-R powerhouse.
The LEGO Speed Champions Nissan GT-R Nismo (76896) clocks in at 298 pieces and is expected to retail for $19.99 USD once it is offered to the public from December 26 onwards. It joins other previously announced Speed Champions sets for 2020 which includes:

The LEGO Group brings iconic Nissan GT-R NISMO to life in bricks
LEGO® Speed Champions Nissan GT-R NISMO pays tribute to the legendary Japanese supercar. The set will be available in the first half of 2020.
Yokohama, Japan, November 25: Since the introduction of the LEGO® wheel in 1962, cars have played a central role in thousands of LEGO sets and in the hearts, minds and play of millions of children across the world. Today, the LEGO Group and Nissan have revealed a model that pays tribute to one of the most iconic Japanese supercars, the Nissan GT-R NISMO. This is the first-ever partnership between LEGO and a Japanese automaker.
The LEGO model was revealed by LEGO Group CEO Niels B. Christiansen and Asako Hoshino, executive vice president at Nissan, at the automaker’s global headquarters in Yokohama today.
Niels B. Christiansen said: “In addition to offering a wonderful and fun building and play experience, we hope the model will also inspire children to learn more about engineering and how to create things in real life. Just as engineers across decades have improved the design and performance of this car, children build, unbuild and rebuild during play – stimulating and developing crucial skills, such as creativity, resilience, problem-solving and critical thinking. Inspiring them to become the builders of tomorrow is our mission.”
Asako Hoshino said: “The Nissan GT-R and the LEGO brand are both renowned and loved by fans of all ages throughout the world, and we are honored to be the first-ever Japanese car manufacturer to partner with the LEGO Group. Many of our Nissan customers can trace their automotive passion back to when they built LEGO cars as children. With this partnership, everyone can be a `takumi’ – the specialized craftsmen that build the GT-R. And, it’s the GT-R’s 50th anniversary this year, so what better way to celebrate than to share the GT-R with Nissan and LEGO fans around the world!”
Iconic taillights recreated in bricks
The LEGO Speed Champions Nissan GT-R NISMO will be available globally in January 2020. It’s one of the first in the 2020 Speed Champions themed sets, which will be 25% bigger than in previous years. The GT-R NISMO model, made from 298 LEGO elements, captures the authentic and intricate details of the life-size race car in a relatively small LEGO model. This posed an interesting challenge for LEGO design lead Chris Stamp.
“In LEGO Speed Champions, we always aim to include new types of racing vehicles. And when we focused on drifting and racing, the record-breaking Nissan GT-R, and especially the new GT-R NISMO, was at the top of our wish list. Authenticity is always our main concern, and we spent a lot of time exploring different building techniques to correctly recreate the taillights, as they are one of the most recognizable details on the car. I am really happy with the end result!”
Hiroshi Tamura, Nissan’s chief product specialist for the GT-R – known informally as “Mr. GT-R” – gave the scaled-down LEGO version his stamp of approval: “The GT-R has been part of my life since I was 10 years old. Working with the LEGO Group was like awakening my inner 10-year-old self to rediscover what makes the GT-R so special to me. It’s amazing how much the LEGO Group’s attention to detail reminds me of our own craftsmen.”
Appearing alongside the LEGO Speed Champions Nissan GT-R NISMO at today’s event was the 2020 GT-R NISMO. Available now, the most extreme, most capable GT-R in history features carbon-fiber front and rear bumpers, roof, trunk and rear spoiler; carbon-fiber front fenders with special scalloped vents; new lightweight wheels and new tires; tuned suspension and transmission; Brembo carbon brakes; and new turbochargers.
After seeing two, new 2020 LEGO Speed Champions sets listed at LEGO Shop@Home last week, more news is coming in on what to expect from this continuously popular LEGO theme. Shared online by motoring website Car and Driver, we now have our first look at two additional LEGO Speed Champions sets both set to debut by January 2020. Following the same 8-stud wide design principle introduced to this new breed of LEGO brick speedsters, the LEGO Speed Champions Ferrari F8 Tributo (76895) and the LEGO Speed Champions 1985 Audi Sport quattro S1 (76897) are both 25% bigger than their predecessors.
The Ferrari F8 Tributo (76895) is based on the company’s most recent mid-engine sports car, noted for having Ferrari’s most advanced and powerful V-8 engine as of to date. This brick counterpart comes in at 275 pieces, including the usual minifigure racer.
The 1985 Audi Sport quattro S1 (76897) on the other hand, is more of a throwback to the 80s when this vintage racer was first introduced in a Geneva Motor Show and was once driven by legendary ace racer Michèle Mouton. This set comes in at 250 pieces and includes a similarly colored minifigure driver.
